Chapter Text
Burnt bacon was the first thing he noticed when he woke up. The second was the strange absence of pain that should have been piercing his side. The fact that he had no idea where he was is pretty concerning too, actually. Finally forcing his body up in a sitting position, he realized it felt all wrong, like his form had been stretched out, and he observed his surroundings felt more noticeable. He quickly glanced himself over and saw his fingers were too thin, too long, nothing was right. What had happened when that broken broom stick had been hurled by that spirit? Hm. Maybe it wasn’t in his favor to throw salt at it, he thought as he squinted at nothing in particular. He stood up and moved to find a bathroom as curiosity had gotten the best of the (previously) strawberry blonde.
“WHAT” Reigen shrieked.
This was awful. Sure, when he was.. well- normal, he had gotten second place in the tumblr sexyman championships of 2022, but now? He hadn’t a chance. His hair was white. WHITE! There was no chance at winning with white hair, looking like an old man. This was a tragedy, and he had made it his new goal to find out what the heck happened, and how to get back. He recalled a phone on the wall on the way to the bathroom and quietly retraced his steps back to where the phone had been. He needed to call Mob.

“C’mon, Mob” Reigen let out a sigh of frustration and worry. He messed up. He shouldn’t have taken that stupid case and led a kid and himself into danger. Who knows what happened after he passed out? Hopefully the worst thing that came of it was this body switching and nothing more. The thought of Mob being hurt (at the minimum) made him feel a massive amount of guilt. He tried calling Serizawa too, but received no answer, so maybe it was possible it was just a faulty part on his end. He blinked and took a deep breath to calm himself. Yeah, he’d be fine.
“Gojo?”
Reigen shrieked, again. Where on earth… He stared at the girl who had interrupted his very important thoughts. She looked like a teenager, maybe he was in the body of a teacher or principal? She had glasses, what looked to be black hair and was holding a few papers that were stapled together. He thought about how important that was to figuring out where he was, and saw her roll her eyes. Wow, rude much?
“Do you think- no” She said, preparing to correct the start of her sentence, “, you put in the wrong grade for the quiz last week. I’d appreciate it if you fixed it.” The girl corrected herself, handing him the packet of papers.
..So he was a teacher.
“Of course,” he said with what looked to be a genuine small smile. “I’ll get it done soon” He lied. Poor girl would have a failing grade for- well, actually, hopefully not very long. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but it’d be great if he got home, in his own body.
“Thank you.” She said with a nod, and turned on her heel to walk down the hall.
He leaned against the wall to try and sort everything out, and heard footsteps approaching.
“By the way, Megumi burnt the last of the bacon, and it’d be greatly appreciated if you bought some more!” The girl shouted, peeking out from the corner.
“I’m too busy fixing your grades, buy it yourself!” he replied.
The girl glared and eventually went back down the hall, out of his sight. He realized two things, the first thing was that maybe that wasn’t too out of character (hey, he’s already getting the hang of this!) and two: that was a risky move, but he managed to successfully guess white hair’s career! Woohoo! Life felt good again for a brief two seconds, before he realized nothing was fixed. He sighed, feeling the papers that he was given, they were very smooth, like how when you touch something just so soft it feels as thought you may not be touching it at all. He wondered if you could get a paper cut on smooth paper.
If he wanted to pretend to be whoever he was, then he needed to act like it. That’s what went through his brain as he started into the direction where the girl had gone a few moments prior. He thought he had a minimum of an idea, based on how the girl acted and responded, which was better than nothing. The fate of his future depended on how well this went.. well, probably. Okay, maybe not- but it was still pretty important.
He hoped whoever took over his body treated Mob well.
..and that Reigen’s body was still alive.
