Chapter Text
She wished she could play it off as something she’d just naturally picked up on – women seeing romantic chemistry, and Gerudo women ever more so.
But no, she noticed because the two of them were just painfully obvious to the outside observer, but oblivious to it themselves, it seemed.
It was a hot afternoon when she noticed for the very first time. She sat next to Daruk on a bench in the courtyard of Hyrule castle, the Goron dozing and snoring softly next to her. He’d nodded off around the same time that Zelda and Mipha had branched off from their group to examine the Guardians that the Sheikah were working on in another section of the courtyard.
Technically, the five of them were supposed to be training, and Zelda was to be studying. Something that would have Rhoam in a meltdown if he were here to witness. But he wasn’t, thank the Goddess. He was with his advisors, having a counsel on how best to properly protect Hyrule Castle and its surrounding town when the Calamity struck.
It’s good for them, Urbosa mused to herself as her gaze drifted over to their Hylian knight and Rito Champion. The young ones really did deserve to have time as teenagers every once in a while.
She had to do a double-take back to the two boys when she realized that Revali was sitting on the ground with Link. Their knight was quietly polishing his sword, his legs crossed in front of him, scabbard beside him. Revali was on his other side, watching, seemingly unbothered by the Hylian for now.
She watched carefully, half expecting Revali to start snarking at Link that he was cleaning the sword wrong or something along those lines. But the longer that she watched, the more she saw just how Revali was watching Link.
Their little Rito had a crush.
Smirking to herself, she leaned back against the wall behind the bench and crossed her arms over her chest. It would be just like Revali to resort to the old ‘pulling of the pigtails’ if he had a crush; she wasn’t sure why she hadn’t seen it any sooner.
After watching Link for a while, Revali seemed to realize that he was staring and he fumbled to get his bow out from its sling and into his lap so that he was also doing something. Only a few moments later did Urbosa notice something else.
Link was glancing at Revali from underneath his lashes, the apples of his cheeks flushing a soft pink. She also noticed that when Revali had gotten his bow out of its sling, he’d scooted closer to Link and now their arms were pressed together when they moved.
She brought a hand up to her mouth to hide her chuckling. Now, that was unexpected, but certainly entertaining.
She wondered how this would work out.
