the kind of dirty where the water never cleans off the clothes

Summary:

Disappearances are hitting the small town of Jamesville, Indiana, and they all happen to be members of the Dermont High football team. Squeamish Tiffany Bloodwood is at the centre of it, but surely the 5'4 blonde bimbo couldn't be the cause of the killings? Maybe it's got something to do with that weird goth chick she hangs out with, or maybe she knows something the rest of the school doesn't?

Chapter Text

Ashley’s going to be so pissed at me when she finds out I’m the one who murdered her ex boyfriend. Right now, however, she’s trying to drive it into my head that something terrible could have happened to him, and it’s getting harder to convince her otherwise.

“Look, Tiffany, it’s right there on his mom’s Facebook! He hasn’t been seen since last night, and he always comes home after parties, even if they’re ridiculously late.” She wails, thrusting her obnoxiously bright phone into my face.

“I’m sure he’ll be fine, he’s probably gone out and got crazy drunk and he’s woken up in some field with not a clue where he is.” He’s definitely in a field, but he’s not going to be waking up anytime soon. I lower her phone from my eyeline and continue, “Besides, I thought you hated him? He’s a total jerk, remember?” I attempted to refresh her memory.

“I suppose you’re right.” Ashley agreed, her arms crossing, face dropping, and her green eyes refusing to meet mine, as if she doesn’t fully believe me.

“See? Now, I’ve got to get to my class, but I will totes be here for you later if you’re still worried. See you!” I give her a wave, which she returns half-heartedly, and head off to my first class of the day, Algebra.

No offence to Ashley, I love her with all my heart, but I have bigger things to be worrying about. Surprisingly, this thing is weighing in on my conscience pretty heavily, and I’m going to have to stare at Jonah’s empty seat all throughout Algebra. Why does she even follow his mom’s Facebook? Why is she so obsessed with someone who very obviously manipulated her? God, the members of the football team are so disgusting. I’ve never gotten the appeal, but of course, I’ve dated a few anyway, just to keep myself in the loop. Jonah has always been a big fat no, though.

I manage to get through most of the day without hearing too many remarks about how the school’s star footballer is absent, I mean, can’t he just be sick for god’s sake? Most of the teachers don’t even know he’s missing, why is it such a big deal?

By the time lunch rolls around, there’s one person I’m sure that will be completely unaware of this situation, and she just so happens to be my lunch buddy, Ivy Burch.

Ivy is pale-skinned, even without all the makeup, and she’s got a long face with sharp features. I think she’s described how she dresses as ‘trad goth’, and she puts her eyeliner way up to her brow line on top of a layer of white foundation. I don’t know how she manages to do it all in the morning, but I admire her ability to. She’s got a hoop through the middle bit of her nose, which I insist must’ve hurt, but she claims it didn’t.

Some of the boys and some members of the cheer team think she’s weird and poisonous, because her name’s Ivy, but I think she’s great.
