Chapter Text
The First Draft:
1. Initially, the inciting incident that led to Gurathin's time travel was originally going to be him getting a migraine in his apartment that causes him to pass out.
2. He was originally going to time travel to a few weeks before PresAux went on the survey. In that time, he would have gotten a physical version of the infopacket, advocated to bring SecUnit on the mission
3. The original version of this draft made it two chapters in before I scrapped it and rewrote it.
4. Gurathin was retired in this draft.
The Second First Draft (yes, I know that is contradictory, but bear with me):
1. Gurathin was on a survey, much like the final draft, but he and SecUnit were already dating and Mensah was also on the trip.
2. The main focus of this draft was going to be Gurathin mourning the loss of his relationship with SecUnit (and fighting for its affection again), as well as grappling with his impending retirement and his belief that if he is not useful, he is worthless.
3. This made it one chapter in before it got scrapped (hence why I don't fully consider it its own draft), simply because I just wasn't feeling it. I still might explore this concept in a different work.
The Second Draft:
1. The second draft is when I published the first few chapters.
2. The second draft was going to result in SecUnit catching onto Gurathin faster, and the reveal being told by Gurathin's own volition in the ready room. A good portion of that dialogue was later used in the DeltFall reveal scene.
3. Their feed interaction also belongs to this draft.
4. SecUnit and Gurathin were going to manipulate things behind the scenes to make things end up better.
5. I ended up changing the reveal to later because I wanted there to be a bigger buildup of tension.
The Third Draft:
1. There was going to be a reveal in the hopper, and a reprise of the wall-pin. This was scrapped as I just didn't thing it would be that interesting yet.
2. Originally, Gurathin was going to say no to going to DeltFall, but I thought that would contradict the earlier point of him sending them a warning. I thought that he'd see this situation as his fault and want to try and fix it.
3. The second Deltfall chapter was originally going to have two people find SecUnit, and was actually published saying that two people found it. I was going to have a GreyCris member pretend to be a DeltFall survivor, be brought in by Gurathin and the rest, and blame everything on SecUnit. That is also why the GreyCris Units didn't attack SecUnit, because they wanted everyone else to be suspicious about it. I changed the wording to make it one person an hour after posting, as I didn't want to bring too many non-canon characters in.
