if you’re unfamiliar with daemons/his dark materials, here are some quick tidbits:
+ daemons are the physical manifestation of a person’s soul. the animal form they take on is related to their personality
+ for that reason, directly addressing/touching another’s daemon is considered a social taboo (touch as a gesture of love, however, is an exception)
+ daemons usually ‘settle’ into a permanent form during adolescence
+ when a person dies, their daemon turns to dust

a few of my own notes from this AU:
+ rivka settled on her form the night bruce’s parents died
+ lili is short for aliénor!
+ most people find lili unsettling since she’s able to fly pretty far from dick (→ daemons can’t go too far from their humans without causing pain, but over the years both dick and lili have experimented with the limits of their bond)
+ i couldn’t decide on a name for vicki’s daemon, but i chose a badger as his form since the word comes from becheur (digger), which i think perfectly echoes her persistence haha

i wish i could’ve drawn more comics to explore all the different ideas i have for different characters and their daemon interactions, but this is it for now! i hope you enjoyed these brudick vignettes ^_^
