Evenings spent at Bagi's house could have only been described as cozy. When the sun had gone down and after Empanada had been put to bed, they would dim the lights, maybe drink some tea... They would spend hours on the couch, talking.
Tina sat on the leather couch patiently, with two little cups of hot tea waiting in front of her on the table. A few minutes ago, Bagi had carried their baby girl in her arms to her bedroom underground. Poor Empanada had been through a long day. Seeing Bagi carry their daughter always made Tina a little giddy; she was such a good mom and oh, so strong.
"Hope I didnt make you wait too long..." Bagi called out as she got back to their living room, back to her fiancee in this comfortable atmosphere they had.
"Tea's still warm." Tina answered playfully.
Bagi sat next to her with a wide smile and picked up her cup. She took a sip of the lemon-honeyed drink and hummed. She turned to Tina and her expression changed to something a little more grave, while still relaxed and happy.
"Em's horns have started growing in." She said matter-of-factly. Tina flinched slightly, something barely noticeable. She had not expected Bagi to start off with such a heavy subject.
"Yeah, I know." Tina answered with a little smile. A part of her wanted to be open with Bagi, to talk to her about anything. Another part of her felt like these types of topics were a danger zone, like it could make her peaceful life turn around any second. "She's having some pains that Mousey is helping her with."
Bagi nodded and put her cup back on the table, she leaned over a little.
"I guess I... Wanted to ask how you feel about it. But if you wanna change the subject that's okay!"
Their shoulders brushed in this position and Tina felt her face go warm, as if she wasnt engaged to this woman, for fuck's sake.
"Well, Empy's happy about it so that's all that matters to me. She's happy and healthy, so its good!" She exclaimed, gripping her cup a little harder.
Bagi stared at her with an unreadable expression. Her gaze was soft and reflected all the affection she felt for Tina. "You're a good mom. That girl loves you."
Tina felt a nervous laugh get punched out of her chest.
"To be clear, it took a while... My first week with her was a disaster."
Bagi squeezed Tina's hand gently in a reassuring gesture. She opened her mouth to say something but Tina spoke first, grasping what little courage she had in that moment.
"But yeah, Mouse and I talked about Empanada's horns and about maybe having to trim them, if they grow too big, or yknow, crooked, or something..."
Bagi raised an eyebrow curiously.
"Is it common for demons to trim their horns? I thought it was a you thing. No offense."
Tina felt herself growing a little antsy at the uncomfortable subject, but deep down she felt closer to Bagi than ever when they talked about these things. This was her soon-to-be wife! Asking her about her horns and other demon affairs... It felt good to expose this woman she loved to every corner of her mind and her life.
She leaned against Bagi's side for support, to which she responded by letting go of Tina's hand and putting an arm around her shoulders instead.
"Its pretty standard. Like getting a haircut, it always grows back, and some people prefer to keep them short. Mousey does it. If she didnt trim, her horns would be the size of a deer's antlers." Tina explained.
Bagi hummed. "Really? That's so interesting..." She had gotten that spark in her eye that she'd have when she was investigating and doing her research. Tina felt a sort of pride at being the one telling Bagi new things for once; This incredibly smart woman who she was gonna marry, captivated, listening to her every word.
"Yeah! Bad is one of those guys who dont trim, thats why his horns are so big and damaged." Tina nodded, gleefully offering as much knowledge as she had.
Well, she was getting ahead of herself; Bad had never confirmed how he felt about trimming.
But she noticed his horns were as big as they could get, about twice the height of his head, and they were heavily scarred. Damaged, crooked, asymmetrical with a lot of indents all over them. It looked like his horns had been fully grown and untouched for decades.
Like he'd been through multiple wars and they would fall off any second from all the hits they had taken.
"That makes so much sense!" Bagi exclaimed. She was leaning against Tina, fully absorbed into their conversation. "Do you ever think about doing your horns differently?"
Tina felt a bit of a shiver run down her arms, reminded of her own cut off horns that sat small on her head. She smiled nervously. "Um..."
Bagi recoiled back, eyes widening and her smile dropping when she noticed her fiancee's discomfort.
"Oh, Im so sorry, that was rude. We dont have to talk about this if..."
"No, no, no!" Tina cut her off to reassure her. She wanted to talk to Bagi, about everything, she felt so safe here with her.
"I want to talk, its okay!... I've been thinking about my horns ever since we talked... about, yknow, me being a, a demon." She uttered. She felt a bit ridiculous, unable to even say the word without getting tongue-tied.
Bagi relaxed again, letting herself rest against the back of the sofa, her body, and her attention, fully turned to Tina. "You can tell me whatever you want. Whatever you're comfortable with." She smiled with a warmth that seemed to brighten the room.
"Well..." Tina swallowed around the anxiety gathering in her throat, she felt a little lightheaded. "You've made me feel... better. About who I am. Since we've talked about this."
Bagi squeezed her hand tenderly to encourage her to talk.
"And yeah, with Em and everything maybe it'd be fun to let my horns grow, just for fun, for a bit..."
"Yeah? Im sure Em would love that." Bagi responded, with a soft expression that reflected all the tenderness and pride she felt regarding Tina.
"Yeah... I mean, i can always just trim them again if I dont like it."
Bagi nodded along with another gentle squeeze of her hand.
"But let me warn you, my full horns are not as big as Bad's."
"Im not the kinda girl who complains about size, querida."
Tina gasped and puched her fiancee's in the arm playfully before exploding in giggles. "Bagi! What are you saying?!"
.
Letting her horns grow was, maybe a little harder than she anticipated.
For the first few days she could barely get her mind off it even though the change stayed barely noticeable.
If she had to guess she'd say her horns grew a centimeter every other day which rapidly got bigger after a week or two.
After nearly two weeks she had gotten them to the size they were at the end of Purgatory. On that island, stuck for about 15 days, she had no opportunities nor tools to trim her horns. By the time she got back home it had taken her an hour to cut through what was essentially the size of average horns. Pretty much the size of Mouse's on a bad day.
So by week two, her horns had started to retrieve their sharpened ends, instead of the usual round stubs that Tina would keep them has. They had only started getting a little larger at the base and now they were essentially the size of a little cow's horns. So far they had grow mostly vertical and symmetrical wich Tina was satisfied with.
"Your horns are so pretty, eomma! I want big horns like that!" Empanada had proclaimed after Tina crouched near her. The little girl even gently, but with the mindlessness of a kid, gripped her mom's horns with her tiny hands. Just to feel them, just like a baby would touch around their parent's face with curiosity. Tina obviously let her.
"They're not that big yet. And yours are adorable and perfect, honey." She answered her daughter, punctuating her sentence with a kiss to Em's head, right in between her growing horns, which made the girl giggle.
Empanada's horns had barely started coming in about a month and a half earlier. Her being just a kid, and half human, it was taking a longer time than what was usual.
Her two horns were growing at different paces. One was as big as Tina's pinkie, probably. Slender too. The other was a little larger and stubbier, about the size of a little cone shaped candy. Due to Em's voluminous pink hair that fell over her forehead, her moms suspected they could have spotted the little bumps on her head weeks before if not for her bangs covering it.
"Your eomma is right, Empanadita," Mouse said as she appeared on the other side of their daughter, coming from her kitchen. "If your horns stay tiny forever you'll just be the cutest little demon that has ever lived." She stated with a hand messing up Em's pancake hat.
Tina always felt a little uneasy at Mouse calling their daughter a demon. Sure, she had horns now, sure, she had pointy ears, and her eyes had always glown a supernatural blueish purple...
But the D word felt too taboo around her child. Calling her that felt like an insult.
Though Tina always swallowed her doubts when she saw her daughter bounding with Mousey like this, over their demon heritage.
She didnt feel strong enough to be as open as they were, but seeing her co-parent and daughter so happy about something she hated so much... It made her second-guess herself. It helped. In miniscule ways she didnt always notice.
Another great development was how sweet Bagi was about it. She'd never mention her horns unless Tina brought it up, but there was a clear shift in behaviour.
Bagi would, with more frequency than before, compliment her appearance. She'd be a lot more touchy too.
She'd run her fingers through Tina's hair lovingly in the morning, tell her how soft and pretty they are. She'd hug Tina's waist from behind, compliment all sorts of things; from her outfit to her overall beauty.
It all made Tina a little insane. In a good way. She couldnt quite tell if Bagi had started doing it because she wanted her fiancee to feel good about her horns, or if Bagi did it because she liked the horns. Either way it worked at making Tina feel less insecure. In fact, it made Tina feel on cloud nine all day round.
.
Bagi had not seen her fiancee in about a month. Maybe a month and a week. Which didnt particularly worry her since it was pretty standard for Tina to have a conflicting schedule and for them to miss each other for months at a time.
She was only getting a little antsy because of the 'horns' problem.
It had been two months since they had that discussion, two months since Tina had started growing her horns.
And Bagi, well she felt a little guilty. In the back of her head she couldnt help but wonder if she had pushed her to grow them. If she had encouraged Tina to change, change for her, if she had been pushy without meaning to.
If she had, in her excitement, been a little too into Tina's new look. If she had made Tina uncomfortable by pushing her out of her comfort zone.
All of those thoughts were probably just her overthinking but she decided she'd talk to Tina. That is, if she wasnt avoiding her...
One late night, Bagi was staying up, working on papers and research.
Empanada had a sleepover with Sunny and Ramon in Fobo that night, and then would be picked up in the morning by Niki.
In other words; Bagi had a very relaxed evening. Even though the house quickly grew too quiet for her liking. She found herself wishing Tina was here again. The calm evening air quickly turned into a eerie and cold night one, and Bagi almost got up to go look at Tina's house. But she restrained herself. She'd give her space.
However, when the clock was about to hit three, Bagi heard footsteps against the wooden floor of her dock, the one leading to her front door. She got up, and expecting a mob, opened the door without a second of hesitation.
In front of her stood Tina, a few steps away from her. She was wearing a cropped purple tank top with a black leather skirt, supported by a heavy belt. As per usual, she wore the lightest clothes, as if the night air outside wasnt cold enough to bite.
Bagi's eyes finally caught onto Tina's head. Her eyes were a little brighter and more intense than she had remembered, her hair was held in a bun, but multiple long strands fell around her face. And her horns.
Her horns had grow far faster than Bagi would have ever imagined.
The base near her forehead was as large as the circumference of her wrists and maintained one that was way bigger than Bad's. Maybe not in lenght but in girth.
In lenght though, Tina's horns were not vertical, like Bad or Mouse, they grew vertically for a few inches before curving backwards, rounded, following the curve of Tina's head, where they hung in the air instead of looping towards the back of her skull.
They looked as ivory white as Mouse's horns but with a clear roughness. They looked like they had the texture of granite. Their overall shape and curvature reminded of a goat's horns, if only less looped around.
And Bagi, well Bagi didnt realize she was holding her breath before she felt like she was about to fall over. She wanted... She wanted something. To reach out and touch, to kneel and worship this woman in front of her, to kiss her horns until Tina got sick of it. Bagi felt the hot bubbling of want in her abdomen. She shook her head a little to get out of this fog while Tina looked at her with an air of confusion.
"Um, hey, long time no see..." She said with a nervous smile. Tina's hand almost reached over to her forehead self-consciously but instead she opted to fidget with a stray strand of her hair.
Bagi sighed heavily, dreamily. She felt like she was having an out of body experience, she felt completely taken over by the shock of how beautiful Tina was, how badly she wanted her.
Tina's expression shifted from nervous to something more surprised, her eyes were wide, her lips were slightly parted in confusion. Bagi would feel bad for letting her get so stressed over her reaction, or lack of, but her mind was somewhere else.
Instead of finally speaking up, Bagi stepped forward, only a few times. She felt like her body and mind were disconnected and yet had the same driving force of desire.
She crossed the threshold of her house, stepping closer to Tina on the front porch, under the cold wind and the sharp light of the moon above them.
Tina's eyes widened and she smiled anxiously. "Bagi?" She whispered in a high pitch. As if she was scared that speaking any louder would shake the woman out of her trance like state.
Bagi gently let her hands grasp Tina's waist, where there always seemed to be the perfect dip, the perfect place where Bagi's hands seemed to fit like the two of them had been made to be in this position. Like Bagi's hands had been made and forged, perfectly molded to fit so well in the dip of Tina's waist. In these moments, it felt like this was the only thing she was made for.
Tina squealed in surprise at the contact but she brought her arms up to drape them over Bagi's shoulders like it was second nature.
Bagi pulled her fiancee closer, so that their bodies were pressed together, chest to chest, faces barely inches apart. Tina chuckled, almost inaudible, but the puzzled and uncertain look on her face was still there.
"You're... gorgeous." Bagi sighed. She could barely think of anything else to say, no words seemed strong enough. No words would suffice to explain all the emotions that were running through Bagi's mind, through her whole being, in that moment.
Tina's eyes widened in shock before she grinned and looked away, her cheeks rapidly going bright pink.
"Really..? You mean it...?" She mumbled under her breath.
But Bagi's thoughts had drifted once again. And her eyes had fallen to Tina's mouth, to her full lips painted red, her beautiful smile. More importantly: her canines. Her teeth that were a lot sharper than Bagi remembered. Just like her eyes had growned brighter; less brown and more pinkish-red, her teeth had also changed with the growth of her horns.
Bagi's heart stuttered. She thought that maybe Tina had spoken to her again but the rushing in her hears took over her senses. She leaned in and closed the distance between them as gently as she could manage it in that moment.
Their lips met, all soft kisses with a certain passion, a certain promise behind them.
She felt Tina lean into it, stepping impossibly closer and griping the back of Bagi's shirt, tightening the embrace of her arms around her shoulder.
Bagi lightly caught Tina's lower lip in between her teeth to which the girl responded by sighing against her open mouth. One of Tina's hand left the now wrinkled material of Bagi's shirt to instead burry itself in her short blonde hair near her nape.
Bagi felt a noise leave her throat before she could even begin to think. She only had one thing on her mind, and that was Tina's teeth, her sharp canines that looked like they could cut right through Bagi, leave her riddled in bite marks. She wanted to feel her teeth. Wanted to get cut.
She felt Tina's slightly parted lips with her tongue, she could almost feel the threat of her razor sharp teeth against her, tempting her, invinting her to get hurt.
Bagi let her tongue lightly caress Tina's bottom lip, teasing, asking for permission. And Tina took the bait.
Their tongues met, and Bagi felt the vibration of Tina's moan against her mouth. Bagi's grip on Tina's waist tightened, as if her fiancee was gonna float away any second.
Before she could rethink it, Bagi let her tongue in, exploring and kissing with an intensity she'd never quite felt before.
As soon as her tongue met Tina's cutting, sharp canines, she felt the cut, the pain, the blood... She could not find it in herself to regret it in that moment.
Tina though, must have. Must have been snapped out of it by the taste of blood in her mouth. She stepped back, still pressed against Bagi, but at a reasonable distance.
Her eyes were wide in horror. And it made Bagi feel a little guilty. She had been so caught up in their pasion she did not realize how Tina might have felt about this.
"I'm sorry, Tina I... Um.." Bagi started awkwardly. But she couldnt quite find the words to apologize. Her voice was hoarse from the intense moment. She didnt have an excuse, she didnt know what to say, how to feel.
"You're sorry?! I basically bit your tongue off with my stupid sharp fangs! And you're apologizing? I'm so sorry, angel, I..." Tina shouted, still shocked. She seemed mortified, and guilty like she had fucked up.
In her panic she had gotten farther away, letting go of Bagi entirely.
Bagi grabbed her hand to get her attention. "No! Tina, you... You didnt do anything wrong I mean, I... Fuck, I kinda wanted you to bite my tongue...." She admitted under her breath.
"What?" Tina exclaimed. She looked at Bagi like she had lost her mind.
Bagi sighed and let go of her hand, just to give her space, just in case.
"Sorry if it's weird I... I think you've noticed I was really into the whole demon look... I, I didnt mean to push you to change yourself but, I... Yknow, I cant say I dont love it. I love your horns, your red eyes, and especially your sharp teeth... I love all of it. I mean, I love you. No matter what you look like. No matter what you are." Bagi utterred whilst looking away. She felt a little stupid and ashamed of herself.
But before she could say anything else, Tina threw herself against her, lacing her arms around her, face burried in her shoulder to supress a laugh. "Gosh, You're actually insane..." She muttered into Bagi's shirt. "I love you so much."
Despite her confusion, Bagi hugged her back, with an arm near a waist and an arm around her back. She suddenly felt a little teary-eyed, and overwhelmed. As if all the adrenaline had crashed.
Tina looked up towards Bagi's eyes with a semi-serious expression.
"And you didnt push me to do anything. I told you I'm growing my horns for Em, and for fun, and I can cut them again anytime I want." She explained with a lighthearted frown. "But if keeping them like this gets me kissed like that, maybe its gonna be a more permanent thing." She laughed.
Bagi nearly choked on air at Tina's comment. "Okay. And next time I wont impale my own tongue against your fangs. I promise." She joked back weakly, still flustered.
Tina leaned her forehead against Bagi's with a smirk and a playful spark in her eyes. "Baby, I'm not the kinda girl who complains about a little blood in my mouth."
