"Spike, this is bad. If your chip is going off randomly, that's a really bad sign." Riley said.
Spike ignored him. "I'm fine. Have a headache, is all."
"It shouldn't be causing you pain like that." Riley said, placing two fingers beneath Spike's chin, and gently lifting his face up. "I'm going to try to call someone who can help."
After Buffy had found him in the school basement, she'd hauled him over to Riley's apartment, and Riley had agreed to take Spike in. It had only been a few days before Spike had given into temptation and kissed Riley.
It was dark inside the old abandoned Initiative base. Spike walked with Riley through the halls, as Riley aimed a flashlight into the dark corners. Spike stumbled, as another wave of pain hit him, and Riley caught him.
"Hang on. We're almost there." Riley said.
"You're lucky you got him to us in time. The chip has degraded. If left as it is for much longer, it could kill him. Whatever you choose, he needs emergency surgery."
Riley glanced over to where Spike lay unconscious. "Buffy isn't going to be happy with me for this, but we should remove it."
