It was a breezy Saturday and Tails was working on something as always.This time,she got a request from oh her so dear friend,Shadow.He has asked her to fix his motorcycle,again.
So much for being the ultimate life form,huh.
Suddenly,she heard the fron door being slammed open.She sighed ,hoping that Sonic didn't break it again.
She headed towards the living room,finding Sonic there,who was basically shining.
"Tails!"He shouted as soon as his eyes met the young fox,"How do we feel about a trip?Like,right now!"He threw himself at the two tailed fox,radiating happiness.
"Now?Sonic I'm sorry i really can't,i have something to work on."Tails replied,feeling guilty.
"Oh c'mon!It's been so long since we spend a day togheter!"Sonic complained,and before she could get a word in,he shushed her"And don't say we fight toghter everyday!That ain't counting!"
Tails sighed. It was true it's been time since they hung out just them . It's been a while since Tails hung out with someone in general.That was reasonable altough!She would never avoid her brother and friends for no reason.
It was just,the feeling she go when hearing people refer to her as 'he,him,brother,lil bro,dude' made her wanna scream in frustration..
Sonic was begging her at this point,making the puppy face and all.
Well,Tails,maybe if say yes something good could be put of it.Maybe she gets the chance to come out AND be accepted.
So Tails gave in."Sure" she sighed."Let me get ready first tho"and before the fastest creature alive could reply Tails already run up the stairs.
She quickly put some things in her bag,like a laser gun for any situation.She also wanted to make some sandwiches for their trip but was quick to discover Sonic had a picnic basket ready.
They have walked for the majority of the way,but at some point,when they were about to enter a forest,Sonic suggested for them to run,or,respectively,fly.
Tails suggested to race like the old good times.They have been at it for a while before Sonic actually sped up ,being the first one to end up in front of a big,flowing lake.
As the young genius caught up with the blue hedgehog, she took time to take the image in,admiring it.
"Is this our destination?"The orange fox asked,bending over the water.
"Nah,but we are almost there.Why?Don't tell me ya got tired already "Sonic teased her ,wearing a shit-eating grin.
"Not at all" She rolled her eyes
She took another glance at the lake,and then back at Sonic ,who seemed like he was trying to fugure something out.
Before she could ask anything, water splashed her in the face. As soon as they could safely open her eyes she was wondering what the heck?
She looked over at Sonic, who was grinning even more now."Enjoy the bath,lil bro ?"He teased and threw another rock into the water,making it spalsh in Tails' face again.
Tails didn't care about that anymore tho.All she was thinking about was 'lil,bro'.It repeated over and over again in her mind ,practically making fun of him her .'You aren't a girl,never will be!You are just a major freak' Her mind raced,those toughts echoing in her ears .
"Tail,buddy ,you alright?" Sonic asked,wearing a concerned expression
Only then,did the fox realize she spaced out."I'm alright,dontcha worry " She brushed it off.
They continued their little 'quest ',Tails still wondering where is Sonic leading her to.
They walked a bit more, and the moon appeared at some point .It was night already, this was a work day lost.
But no !It wasn't lost because Tails was spending time with her older brother!Think positive, think positive..
Sonic's hand reached out to get yet another bush out of their way,and as Tails took the next scene in,her eyes widened in awe.
The image in front of her seemed almost magical, ripped out of any fantasy book.
Trees full of blooming pink flowers were sitting next to each other,forming some sort of circle, between every tree there were blueberry bushes.Ithe circle there were lots of mushrooms (even tho it seemed like half of them were poisonous)
Two cut off tree trunks were fronting each other in the very middle of the circle.
Beautiful flowers of various types and colors adorned those tree trunks.
Tails even spotted a few orchids wich were a personal favorite.
"Aand we're here !" Sonic said suddenly behind her,making her jump a little.
Sonic walked up to the tree trunks and set a pillow right in the little space between them.He spread out all other contents of the picnic basket.
"What are you waiting for ?Come lay down!"The blue blur called after her
She slowly started walking up next to him,still lookimg around her ,awestruck.
"When did you find this place?"The two tailed fox found herself asking.
The fastest creature alive hummed, still settimg up everything "A while back,figured you'd like it" Was his answer
"I love it!"The fox genius answered,smilimg with teeth and all.Sonic offered a smile back
"Its not even the best part yet,just wait likeee" he checked his phone "15 minutes and you will understand what im talking about"
Tails was clueless but excited, as it seemed that the whole day was pretty fun.
Then she realized, she'd try come out.Would she be able to do it ?She questioned herself. She'd like to,it'd save up all weird feelings in her gut whenever she'd be called anything masculine sounding.
She took a deep breath.Okay,it's now or never.
"Hey ,Sonic..."She trailed off,unsure of how to explain herself
Sonic, having noticed his little siblings ' weird behavior the whole day,waited patiently for her to explain herself.
"Soo.."she started again ,"Ya know how transgender people are a thing...right "She smiled awkwards at him,trying her best to formulate this.
The lack of answer from Sonic's side was making everything scarier.She almost tought she seen a frown forming on his face.
Tears threatened to make their way out of her eyes as she was struggling to find her words.Find her words,find her words,find her words...
Warm arms wrapped around her,giving her comfort."'S okay jus' tell me what's bothering you" Sonic said,holding onto her for dear life
Tails sobbed "Im not your little bro.."she trailed off ,waiting for any type of reaction .
Sonic's expression was blank tho,wich confused her a lot ,so she decided to continue.
"Because..Because I'm your little sister. I'm not a boy,I've never been one-Well ,biologically, yea-but i'm transgender..I've been born in the wrong body. It's weird i know-not only that im a two tailed freak but i also wanna be a girl.Haha how delusional can someone like me be to think I'd ever fit in society-" By that point,Tails was hyperventilating, and she was violently shaking.
She knew Sonic wasn't a bad guy.He'd never hate anyone for that. But she didn't except to be hugged so tightly. She gasped for hair ans finally opened her eyes
"It's okay Tails-Oh god,is that name even in the game?-It's okay really,I know it took you a lot of courage to do it.But never forget,little sis,I will always love you no matter what,you are my little sibling and nothing will change that" Sonic finished. "'Sides,I'm trans too sis"
Tails needed a second to process everything. Ans when the last line was dropped - "WHATTT?How come you never told me?You were already sonic by the time we met?What the fuck-"
"Hey don't swear!And yeah, i already have figured myself out by that time ,I just never had any reasons to bring it up"Sonic said,messing with Tails' bang.
A comfortable silence settled around them.
Then Tails spoke up again.
"I like Tails,but i think i need something to feel more like me" She said ,a bit unsure of herself.
"Whatever will you choose will fit you jus fine"Sonic smiled "Oh!Oh !It's starting" He pointed at the sky "The actual reason i wanted us to come here"
Tails looked at the sky as well.A meteor shower."It looks magical..."She watched over it in awe.
As she stood there, trying to figure out a possible future name ,while watching the beautiful display in front of her along the person she's been calling brother ,she feels amazing. She feels like herself.
"Whatcha think 'bout Mila..It's close to my birth name wich only brings me painful memories. Maybe this name will bring me great memories."She says,out of nowhere,as the meteor shower slowly finishes.
"Mila.."Sonic repeats "Has a nice ring to it.Fits you a lot too."He smiled
Mila smiled too.Repeating her name in her mind over 10 times from happiness.
That night she and Sonic fell alseep in that magical place that only bought her happiness. Well this was done.She didn't care about anyone's opinions now!The most important person in her life accepted her as she is so it's okay !
Falling asleep and dreaming about future possible adventures was something she was used by now.Only this time,she sees her actual self in those dreams.
