Chapter Text

Sonic has always known that he was lucky. Lucky to have a brother who cared for him, and who made sure Sonic could live comfortably, without having to worry about money, while growing up.

He had been living with his brother for as long as he could remember, and when Rain came into the picture, it was like everything had fallen into place. They quickly became the closest thing Sonic had to parental figures. So yes, Sonic knew he was lucky, he loved his brother and Rain with his whole heart, but in the end, he had still chosen to keep his family a secret, but it hadn’t always been a secret.

Sonic grew up sheltered, his brother doing everything in his power to ensure that he had everything he would ever need and then some. While this would, in most cases, be a good thing, it led to him being very naive during his childhood.

It was first when he entered middle school that his rose-coloured glasses started wearing thin, allowing him to see how his “friends” only used him and his friendship to gain favour from his Phi. They would ask for a wide variety of favours - Can we come over?/Do you want to hang out at the mall? But the most typical ones would be ‘Can we go to the garage? Your Phi is so cool!’/I really like cars! I want to be a mechanic like him/whoa your Phi is awesome! Does he ride the bikes too?/Do you think he would show us?

They never seemed to care about him, never asking how he felt or what he wanted to do, it would be the same every time. They never came when he was sick or hurt, only coming over if it was convenient for themselves. That was when he realised that he was never their friend. He was just a step up the ladder, a way for his so-called ‘friends’ to become more powerful, more like people like Phayu and Prapai, renowned for having it all; looks, money and power. After all, if their own families were not rich enough what chance would they, themselves, ever have?

North was lounging on the couch after a hard day at work, with Charlie sitting beside him on the left, when he heard the tell-tale sound of a phone ringing.

Groaning, he searches for his phone, and right when he grabs it, the ringing stops. Looking down on the phone he sees there are no missed calls.

“Hey Charlie, did someone call you?” he inquired with a curious note in his voice.

Glancing down at his phone Charlie replies that he did not get a call before sinking and becoming one with the cushion.

Suddenly hands wrapped around his body, a familiar scent filling his nose. “Sonic, I know it’s you.” North exclaimed, a smile taking its place on his face, only becoming bigger as Sonic moved over the back of the couch to fall straight into his lap.

“Are you so tired you can’t even hear where the ringtone is coming from?” Sonic asks him with a teasing lilt to his tone. North simply huffs in response, making Sonics smile widen as he laughs softly at his reaction before bringing a hand up to card it through North's hair, and he completely forgets to act annoyed when faced with Sonics small gestures of care.

Nuzzling his face into Sonic's silky hair he murmurs, “Who called you then?” and hugs Sonic into himself until the only thing he can smell is, what to him, is the best scent in the world. The citrus with an undercurrent of sweet strawberries blending with vanilla, notes the satisfaction both of them are feeling at that moment, being in each other's arms.

“Ahh, it was nothing, probably just a scammer,” Sonic replies hesitantly.

Sonic’s phone starts ringing again, and North notices how Sonic tries to hide the screen as he fishes the phone out of his pocket, but to no avail, North notices the caller ID saying Daddy🤪.

One of Sonic’s favourite places to be is in North's arms, both their worlds orbiting only the other. So laying on the couch with him after a day of work he would like nothing else but to never move again, but the quiet that had befallen them was quickly destroyed by the sound of a phone ringing once again.

Giving a tired sigh, Sonic shuffles until he can get his hand into his back pocket. Looking at the caller ID he freezes when he sees that it is P’Phayu calling, growing pale when the call stops and he spots 5 missed calls.

Looking up he makes eye contact with North who raises an eyebrow questioningly at him.
