Chapter Text
San impatiently tapped the table with his fingertip in the empty room. He was very much against this - someone else joining the mission, which was supposed to be his. And his only. He had it all covered, all planned - and some rookie from another office would have it ruined for him. Or make it more complicated.
“Here, Agent Jung.” San heard his supervisor’s voice behind the door.
“This place is a lot more spacious than our branch!” Another excited voice came from behind, and then the door’s handle went down and he entered.
San didn’t know where he was supposed to look first - at the man’s bright red hair, his heart-shaped face, with a bright wide smile, or dangerously attractive eyes. Maybe not even that - simply the fact that the newcomer was an omega - already punched San in the guts so hard that he froze. The faint but sweet scent of caramel entered the room together with the younger man, and it immediately sent a light vibration through the alpha’s spine. So no one… No one informed the omega that they need to block their scent completely during work hours?
“Agent Choi.” San’s supervisor politely smiled, pointing with a gesture toward the omega. “That’s Agent Jung Wooyoung. He will be your partner during the mission.”
“How about the time where I said, I don’t need a partner for this… sir,” San spoke annoyed, but mostly because his inner alpha was screaming inside from the unexpected yet crushing feeling that came along with Wooyoung.
“Yet I’m your boss, so I decide what this mission needs and what don’t.” His boss interrupted, with a slightly raised eyebrow. “Please, sit down, Agent Jung. I will go through a few things again.”
“We better get along if we want this to work.” Wooyoung’s smile disappeared, but his eyes remained soft as he shamelessly watched San. “I came a long way to help you.”
“And we appreciate that.” San’s boss tried to save the situation as much as he could, but San only tilted his head to the side with a questioning look. He didn’t want Wooyoung to come even closer than he was now.
“Oh, but I didn’t ask for your help…”
“Enough!... You two. Enough. I know you both are very different, but this needs to work out, alright?” their boss sighed, waving hands, and waited until Wooyoung sat on the chair, leaving four seats between himself and San. “Alright…” the man took a sharp breath. “Agent Choi, I know you’ve been working on this case alone for years, but now that we have received new information about the drug being used in the ‘Dune’, we need to invest further.”
“I know,” San mumbled. Because he was aware of the situation.
“Should I leave you two to discuss this further?” then the boss lifted his eyebrow like he was a little insulated about San’s words. When the man didn’t answer, he continued. “I want you to join the club as alpha and omega, pretending you are together but still not mated. There are a lot of other things to remember and know, and they are stated in this file. Only me and the head of the department know about this plan.” He continued talking, tapping with one finger at the file. “We really have to make this work. Do you both understand?”
San wanted to hiss so badly. He didn’t want to be replaced by anyone, because no one knew this mission better than he did. At the same time, going through a fake relationship wasn’t something he preferred even for the job. And the red hair, sitting just several chairs from him, just continued smiling as if he couldn’t get more excited to start it.
After a few more warnings and instructions, San’s supervisor left, so they would know each other better. Wooyoung followed him out with his big round eyes, then grabbed his chair and, without any demonstrations, brought it closer in front of San. The alpha leaned a bit back, his eyebrows frowning at the other being so close.
“So, what do you want to know?” Wooyoung winked.
“Nothing in particular. This is all fake.” San rolled his eyes. “I hope you’re an excellent actor, that’s all.” He then added, fuming just from the thought that this strawberry hair owner could ruin his hard work.
“Oh, I am!” Wooyoung giggled, completely unbothered by San’s cold shoulder. “But my question remains… since I’m going to be ‘your’ omega and sub, is there something you prefer? Collar? Clothes? Behavior?” He asked, smiling wider with every word.
“No, you can wear whatever you like. I will make this work.” San shrugged. “As long as you stay in your place, quiet. Just like a good submissive omega is supposed to be,” he shortly and teasingly smirked, then grabbed the file from the table. “How much do you know about the mission?” San decided to go right to the point.
“Basics.” Wooyoung leaned back, looking a bit disappointed. “I have read the file, but obviously not as much as you. Fill me up.” His eyes sparkled and San’s twitched. He did say that on purpose, didn’t he?
“What exactly is your position?” San asked. “I find it hard to believe that you worked undercover as an agent before.”
“It’s actually my first mission! I just finished training, before they only let me deal with paperwork,” he admitted excitedly.
“Excuse me??” San choked, almost dropping the file from his hand. “You understand how serious this thing is? How hard I worked for this??”
“Of course, that’s why no other omega wanted to take part in it!” Wooyoung, for some reason, cheered. “But let me know all the details. I don’t want to assume anything.” He added with a more serious voice. “So, there is this drug that affects omegas only? And it’s run by….”
San sharply breathed it, and it seemed like it only amused the omega in front of him more. So Agent Jung dared to come here pretending that his participation would bring something good, when he hadn’t even read the document San had provided to the supervisor earlier.
“You haven’t read… the file?” San slowly asked.
“I did…” Wooyoung blinked. “Sort of. But!” He rushed to wave his hands like defending his non-existent honesty. “I’m much better when someone explains me in words!”
Sure. Of course he was. Or San just got the worst partner, who very likely would ruin everything. San wasn’t usually this judgmental, but he also wasn’t used to working with someone. He didn’t want to be responsible for anyone’s safety. Especially omegas. Swallowing his curiosity to ask how the omega ended up as an agent in the first place, San exhaled. He had no choice.
“The underground club…” the alpha reached for the file on the desk and opened the first page. “... is called ‘Dune’. It is run by the duo known as Matz, or The King and The Queen. No one knows their real names.” San pointed at the specific lines where he had mentioned this in the file, as trying to call Wooyoung out, but the omega didn’t seem bothered at all.
“Riiiiight…” He hummed, gaze pointed at the alpha instead of the paper. “And you think they have created the… drug? Is it an actual drug?”
“I don’t think so. I know they did.” San rolled his eyes. Another sigh. This would be a long conversation, and his introverted brain was already giving signs of exhaustion."It took me years to find out about their system and everything. They use chess figures instead of their names. I have managed to get some information from one of their pawns in exchange for some dropped drug charges."
Wooyoung raised his eyebrow as if questioning San’s morality as an agent. But he didn’t understand that some things had to be sacrificed for the greater good. And nothing was more important than exposing those bastards in the club. For years, they have been hiding. But not anymore.
“I managed to get the location of ‘Dune’, but the thing is…”
“They only let in alphas and omegas - as dominant and submissive partners, right? I remember from the file. Is it like a BDSM dungeon or something?” Wooyoung grinned as if making fun of that idea.
“That’s exactly what it is,” San confirmed, a little surprised that Wooyoung did know something after all. "The drug, called 'Blue Bird,' was created by so-called duo Matz. It affects omegas by pulling them into a submissive headspace, which results in blackouts and even long-term memory loss." San raised his hand before Wooyoung dropped a comment. “I only need you to help me get in, because they have a strict rule for the entrance. “After that, you don’t have to do anything. Just be there and be a good submissive omega.”
Wooyoung’s eye twitched, looked like he wanted to shout, but only pouted his lips.
“But I’m also an agent.” He sighed, not hiding a disappointment. “Plus, I’m an omega, and we are investigating a drug that has an effect on someone like me. Shouldn’t I be the first in line to participate in this?” He waved hands like wings. Unhappy. But San couldn’t give less fucks about it now.
“You sit there and be a pretty omega.” The alpha repeated, getting up. He had enough of this. “That’s it, Agent Jung. That’s all you need to do. Just play by the script.”
“Now you’re straightforwardly insulting me.” Wooyoung placed his palm against the chest, his red hair waving together with a headshake. “And where do you think you’re going? We haven’t finished talking!”
“Read the damn file.” San lifted the document and dropped it again on the desk. “We’re doing this tomorrow. Get appropriate wear for a submissive and a choker too. I will send you an address to my rented apartment. We would need to stay in the same place.” That already bothered San. The apartment he lived in now was cramped, as he had it only for the undercover mission. With only one bed. The alpha wasn't thrilled about the idea of sleeping on the couch. “And don’t use scent—-“
“I know, Agent Choi,” Wooyoung’s voice dropped at least a few tones. As if an entirely different person would be sitting there now. “I’m no less a worthy Agent than you are.”
San doubted it. And he would have done anything to proceed with this case alone, but there was just no other choice. The alpha didn’t give any more reaction. He left the room, trying to slam the door less angrily than he felt.
After another not-so-pleasant talk with the supervisor, where San tried to think of any other option than this, the alpha had to give up and return home. Well, not exactly home, but to his ‘apartment’ - in a very suspicious-looking street, where no one self-respecting person would rent something. After a bit of mumbling, San tried to clean up the takeout boxes from the living room table and some laundry that he had dropped here and there. It should have worked as a distraction - but thoughts still were coming back to the case.
Despite his hatred for the inexperienced partner, San had never felt so excited. So close to the truth. Tomorrow he would finally enter ‘Dune’. He would finally meet The King and The Queen of that sick hole. He might even see the drug itself. Years. It took him years of hard and risky work to get to the point where he was now. And San was determined to do everything to reach his goal.
The alpha recalled when he was first given this case. He thought it was going to be simple, yet no matter what he did, led him to dead ends. The infamous underground duo Matz had developed such a confusing net, that unwrapping it cost more damage than giving him answers. At first, San wasn’t alone, but slowly, one by one, his team members gave up on solving the case, until San was the only one left. Maybe that was why he had such a hard time trusting someone to help him. The alpha just knew he had to do it, and he was the only one still serious about it. And that omega… Wooyoung didn’t seem to bother even to read the basic things written in the file. San could only pray that tomorrow didn’t end in disaster. The alpha ended up cleaning the entire apartment, although the initial plan was only to pick up some things around.
He was about to take a shower before hitting the bed when his phone vibrated, showing a new message on the Kakao app.

Hi. It’s Wooyoung. So what is the address?
Oh shit. Right. San had completely forgotten about it.
Choi San
10:35 PM
Right. Sharing the location with you. You can drop by around 7 PM. The club opens at 8.
[location shared]
Jung Wooyoung
10:37 PM
Thanks! What color choker do you want, by the way?
San raised his eyebrow, dropping the phone on the couch and going towards the bathroom. He didn’t care, as long as the outfit was appropriate to the club's standards. San asked Wooyoung to come earlier on purpose. Just in case they needed to fix something on him. If the mission fails in the middle, they at least need to leave a good first impression.
From the early morning, San worked at his laptop on some reports just to keep his mind away from the evening. And as always, once the alpha would get himself dragged into something work (or gym) related, it was very easy to lose track of time. The next thing San knew, someone was ringing on his doorbell. The alpha automatically reached for the gun on the couch next to him but then recalled that I might be the omega. San’s shoulders relaxed as he walked towards the door and confirmed his guess.
“Oh…” Wooyoung blinked once he saw the alpha. “Are you going in this?” He questioned with a scoff, overgrazing San’s white T-shirt and black sweatpants.
San wanted to drop something sarcastic as a response, yet couldn’t. He wasn’t ready, but for sure Wooyoung was. The alpha’s mouth dropped as he scanned the omega’s high-waist leather pants, which highlighted every curve on his body, and a top crop that certainly uncovered too much skin. San failed to notice yesterday just how much natural glow the omega’s skin had. How… soft.
“Too much?” Wooyoung questioned with a slightly raised eyebrow. “I know I know I’m not wearing the choker, but I have several and I thought you could pick?” He said with a little smirk, passing through San without invitation.
San noticed how the tips of Wooyoung’s ears were blushed. Together with himself, Wooyoung brought a scent as well. Much stronger than yesterday. Very thick caramel flavor that could leave San’s fingers messy, his mouth watery, and his body aching for sweetness.
“I told you, I don’t care what you wear.” The alpha somehow pulled himself together, looking away. “Give me a minute to change.” He then added and rushed to take his clothes for the night. As San was changing into a somehow oddly matching outfit made from leather pants and a long-sleeved dark shirt, he could hear the omega walking around. Probably leaving his dazing scent everywhere possible. San lowly growled just thinking about it.
“Is everything alright?” Wooyoung questioned.
San didn’t bother to answer, only mentally slapped himself. He wasn’t used to feeling unsuppressed scents, since everyone in his work field was using scent blockers. Plus an omega. Again. Why did he get himself into this deal, which already looked like a loss?
Once San walked out, he got an approving whistle that made him roll his eyes at the back of his skull. He tried to comb his hair back when he found Wooyoung flashing his smile next to San and doing exactly the same for his bright red hair.
“We need to look like we are there for each other.” He shrugged. “So you know, I did my research. Plus, you’ll have to scent me.”
“Scent you?” San gulped. That just completely slipped out of his mind. Of course, how would they convince anyone if the omega didn’t smell exactly like his alpha?
“You have a strong vanilla scent… not something that I expected, to be honest.” Wooyoung giggled. “But our scents somehow do match perfectly! So it’s only better for us.” With these words, he leaned forward, and San did the reverse, his back slightly bending. “Are you afraid or something, Agent Choi? Alpha?” Wooyoung teased.
“Remember. You just need to sit there and look pretty.” San breathed out, trying to ignore the saliva gathering in his mouth. It was just a natural body reaction, right? Just because he has smelled no omega for so long.
“I know I know you grumpy cat.” Wooyoung sighed and then with one move wrapped his arms around San. “But if you keep acting like this in ‘Dune’ we won’t fool anyone, I’m not even talking about The King and The Queen.”
San closed his eyes and slowly leaned in, pressing his nose at Wooyoung’s neckline. Just as he thought, his skin was soft, just so pleasing to the touch. San didn’t even need to try, his body knew what to do. San nuzzled his face against the neck of the omega, inhaling more of the intoxicating sweet scent, his arms possessively wrapping stronger around another. He breathed the hot air over the scent gland, in response getting more of the fresh caramel into his mouth, which instantly shut down at least half of his rational thinking. San was about to lick it. He wanted it so much. The alpha could barely feel how Wooyoung was slipping through his fingers. He was just so easy to hold, and probably so easy to manhandle as well. The thin layers of his clothes did wonders to make San feel the curves of the omega’s body better. What a tender thing between his arms.
And then Wooyoung moaned.
It worked like a slap - maybe even stronger. San sharply breathed in, jumping back, and looking at Wooyoung with a frown.
“What do you think you were doing?”
“No…“ the omega walked backward until his legs hit the couch and he fell on it. “What the fuck you were doing to me…? Your wrists would have been perfectly enough to scent me… and… now…”
San didn’t need him to finish it. He could smell it. The arousal. The scent of omega’s slick.
“I can’t control it! You did this!” Wooyoung complained, hugging himself around the waist, eyes closed, lips parted, panting hard. San knew he stopped just in time because a few more moments would have cost him everything. Maybe it won’t be as easy as he wanted it.
“Then fix yourself. As if it’s my fault you’re so sensitive,” San turned away and closed his eyes, walking towards the kitchen, the only place that would leave Wooyoung a little space at least. “We leave in ten minutes.” San knew he just sounded like a total douchebag, but it really wasn’t his fault that the omega was this delicate.
The trip to the club was quiet. San was driving, one hand against the window, his head resting on the palm. He kept wanting to look at Wooyoung, but since the omega hid himself in the bathroom and came out just when San was already putting on the shoes, he didn’t say a word.
“I know you’re grumpy, but we need to act—”
“I am fine.” Wooyoung cut it. “Just let’s get over this.” He then added, fixing his pose and putting a black leather choker around his neck, which perfectly matched with his pants. San liked it. But he didn’t say a thing.
The alpha parked in an underground place got off, and offered his hand to Wooyoung.
“Repeat the rules.” He asked, just making doubly sure that Wooyoung had read the file.
“We go by the traffic system. I call you Master, not by any other nickname. I love it when you’re soft with me. Yet I’m needy and whiny, you know how to put me in place. And I love it so much. I tend to be bratty, but if I’m a good boy, you will reward me.” Wooyoung breathed a word to word out as if he had swollen the whole document of their play. “I’ve been your sub and omega already for almost a year, but we still haven’t mated, because that’s not what our dynamics need.” Wooyoung nodded, squeezing San’s fingers a bit.
“Yes. Like that. You love any names or words I call you. I’m very territorial and possessive of you. So you keep your eyes only on me. If we come out of there alive today….” San chuckled sarcastically. “We have succeeded.”
“Master, but getting alive is not our major goal, right?” Wooyoung whispered, bringing a faint smile to San’s face.
“Today it is.”
They walked outside into the dark and San followed a couple in front of him, who seemed to be going in the same direction. For now, Wooyoung was perfect. He walked a bit behind San, his head let down, but his fingers in San’s hand remained calm.
“You’re alright?” the alpha asked just in case.
“Of course, I’m with you, Master.” He cooed.
Holy shit. That was great. San breathed in and made the last turn into an alley where he had noticed the unmarked door. His informant was already waiting nearby, meeting them with a low smile and sparkles in his eyes.
“Oh, so that’s your sub? Oh, and an omega at that.” He wondered, trying to peek at Wooyoung over San’s side.
“Don’t talk to him.” San frowned with a little groan, showing clear dissatisfaction. He felt Wooyoung’s grip tighten around his fingers.
“Hey hey, rules are rules, I don’t touch what belongs to you!” the man lifted his hands as if giving up, then walked to the door that looked just like a back entrance and knocked a few times, it slightly opened and the man leaned in to say something. For one moment, that lasted a little too long. San was already coming up with solutions he could use to twist things if necessary, but then his informant moved back and the door opened wider.
“Welcome to ‘Dune’ then.”
