Chapter 1: Percy Makes a Star Wars Reference

Chapter Text

To say Arthur was in an embarrassing situation would be an understatement. It was a stupid thing to walk towards a strange sound in the forest, but to do it alone, without anyone else, is at levels of stupidity only Merlin would have. Of course the rumors of a monster lurking in the forests surrounding the Southeastern side of Camelot would be true.

So here he was running for his life, running through the forest in the early morning from a monster he had barely seen, but definitely noticed, the knives being thrown at him were too close for his liking. It also didn’t help that he could hear the monster just at his heels, almost touching him.

Arthur tripped just slightly over a branch, giving the monster enough time to grab the back of his cape at the nape of his neck and throw him into a tree.

Arthur hit the tree at such a speed that all the air that was once in his lungs was pushed out, leaving him gasping for breath.

He was shocked out of this feeling to a worse one at his side. He looked down to see a knife lodged into the tree and just barely scraping his side, but enough that there was blood pooling to the ground already.

Arthur looked up to finally see what beast had the nerve to chase him down and then try to stab him to death.

The sight his eyes met was certainly the monster he had been hearing about.

It was easily taller than Arthur and had more muscle. It wore plate armor, but wasn’t anything like a knight’s armor? It left several open spots to pierce. It had a scabbard tied to its side but had several more knives as well. But there was one feature that beat them all.

It had a single eye positioned on the middle of its forehead.

Not to mention it also had a horn.
And really disgusting skin that seemed to be flaking off. Disgusting.

The creature smiled, showing crooked black fangs. And raised its blackened sword above its head.

“Goodbye, filthy mortal”

The sword came down faster than Arthur could even think to perry it. But fortunately he didn’t need to.

Another sword shot out, faster than light and knocked the other sword with such a strength, that the creature went flying alongside it.

A woman stood in front of him, blocking him from the monster’s sight.

The woman was very tan and had pitch black hair. She wore the strangest clothing. The shirt was orange and covered in dirt. Her pants were blue and seemed to have a very strange texture.

The woman ran towards the monster, sword held high. She brought the sword down at a lightning fast pace. The monster and woman slashed at each other and tried to unbalance each other.

The woman’s sword fighting was incredible. She was fast, smart, and merciless. Her sword was leaf shaped and a bronze color. She continued to push the monster back until he hit a tree. She knocked the sword out of his hands, but he ducked and grabbed her arm and threw her back.

The monster threw a knife straight at the woman’s head, to which she knocked away using her sword.

She took advantage of the monster's shock and quickly twirled her sword and cut off the monster's head.

To Arthur’s surprise the monster did not bleed. The monsters disintegrated into a pile of golden dust.

The woman turned around to face him, breathing heavily and covered in sweat. As she walked towards him he got a better look at her.

She was dirty, covered in mud, the golden dust, and a bit of blood on her shoulder. She was quite tall for a woman and long limbed. She had very broad shoulders and large hips. She had muscles, which shocked him. Women typically aren’t this muscular, if they had any at all.

She was covered in small scratches and scrapes with a few bruises on her knees. She also had scars along her arms and a tiny scar upon her jaw.

He noticed some even stranger things about her. She had a large marking on her arm of a trident with strange letters on top of it.

Her hair was pitch black, but not fully. There was a lock of pale gray hair nestled in her curls. She had high and pronounced cheekbones.

But in Arthur’s opinion, the most striking thing about this girl were her eyes. They seemed to be moving, like the tides of the ocean. He couldn’t decide if they were green or blue.

The girl reached him and smiled.

Wow, that was a nice smile.

“Hello there. Not to assume anything, but i'm guessing you might need some help”
She said while nodding to the cut on his side.

Arthur was speechless. This angel had not only defended him, a complete stranger, but single handedly defeated the monster. And now she still wanted to help him?

“Arthur!, where are you?!”

Both of their heads turned to face where the voice was coming from.

She turned back to him

“Would that just so happen to be a friend of yours?”

“Yes, do you think you could…”

“Don’t worry about it, I gotcha”

She came to his side and gently wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Careful not to hurt him. They began to stumble over to the voice.

“What is your name”

She gave him a little smile.

“Percy.”

Arthur narrowed his eyes.

“That’s a very strange name”

“If you think that’s weird, then you should know my full name. Perseus Jackson. Technically it’s a boys name, but who cares”

They walked just a bit further into the woods until they ran into Gwaine and Merlin.

Merlin had a scared and shocked look on his face and quickly ran to him.

“Arthur! What happened!? Are you alright?!”

Gwaine gently pulled Merlin back a bit.

“Give the princess some space, Merlin. But really what happened? And uh, who is this nice lady?”

Gwaine’s eyebrow went up and smirked. He walked over to her side, completely disregarding Arthur.

Gwaine gently took her hand and gave it a kiss.

“Hello, I’m sir Gwaine. And what is your lovely name?”

Percy’s eyes lit up with surprise and amusement.

“I’m Percy”

“Ahem, I am dying over here, yet here you are flirting with a woman you’ve just met!”

Gwaine spared Arthur a glance

“Your fine”

Arthur dawned an appalled face and was about to retort back, when Merlin spoke up.

“Both of you shut up, Arthur. what. happened.”

“I ran into the monster we had heard the rumors about. It’s dead now by the way”

Gwaine and Merlin’s eyes widened in shock.

“You killed it?”

“Uh, not exactly”

“Arthur!”

They all looked behind them to see the rest of the knights run over to them.

“My lord, you're injured!”

“What happened!?, was it the monster?”

“Who’s she?”

Arthur sighed, how many times was he gonna have to explain what happened.

“Ok look, I ran into the monster, I was injured, and now it’s dead. Ok that’s it. And uh, no I did not kill it.”

He looked over at Percy.

“She did”

All eyes turned to her. She looked back at them slightly flustered from the attention.

“Hello, would any of you happen to know anyone by the name of “Killgarah””
