Chapter Text

Spinner sat flush against the corner of the League's newest abandoned-house hideout. His knees were tucked by his chest as he gazed outside the shattered, moldy window.

The bright glare from the moon slightly stung his eyes as he stared, but it's not like it really mattered to him.

Spinner let out a sigh, finally turning his gaze away as the side of his face dropped to rest on his knees.

The villain had been curled up for a while now, everyone else sleeping soundly upstairs. Except for Tomura, who had decided to lay on the tattered, busted couch beside where Spinner was.

The latter's lungs felt tight, and an overwhelming sense of dread had creeped its way around him like a suffocating quilt.

Spinner drew in a trembling breath, exhaling just as uneasily.

Panic.

He was panicking and trying not to.

It was dumb, pathetic even.

There wasn't anyone around to attack him; he and the League had killed everyone from this branch of the Creature Rejection Clan. Even if there was one or two members who escaped, he could just kill them

So what point was there to panic?

That was the question Spinner grappled with as he tried to force away the unease and tightness of his chest.

All until another voice broke the silence.

...

"Spinner..?"

The villain's head shot over to the sound, eyes now laying upon Tomura who was sitting up and rubbing one of his eyes.

"You okay over there?"

Concern spilled all over Tomura's question as he shifted closer to Spinner.

"Yep! Just fine!" Came Spinner's hurried response. He hoped Tomura would still be asleep enough to buy it and go back to bed.

But nope.

"Well that's bullshit if I ever heard it."

Fuck.

Tomura shuffled to his feet and began walking over to Spinner.

And when those steps got too close, the latter's heart sunk and he yelled out, his arms flying to his face and his position curling up even more.

Spinner's breathing was now out of control, gasping and raspy. His eyes were blown wide, focused on Tomura.

But to him, that's wasn't Tomura.

And he was no longer in the two-story wreck of a house.

He was in a field, the sun setting over the horizon as the cackles of sick, sick men and women filled the air.

Spinner stared right at what he wasn't recognizing as Tomura, shaking like a baby deer even though he was frozen in his defensive position.

The latter kneeled down, and Spinner was prepared for a blow, a kick, a jeering remark, something.

But it never came.

The figure simply stayed still.

And soon, mixed in with Spinner's rapid heartbeat drumming, a shrill ringing in his ears, and the mocking laughter, was a muffled voice.

He couldn't make out what it was saying. All he knew was that he could see the outline of a mouth on the figure, moving with the voice.

And eventually that voice became more clear, as did the figure.

The cackling and field faded.

Spinner was now back in the hideout, and Tomura was kneeling a foot or two in front of him.

The voice was the latter calling out for him, repeating his name.

"Spinner?"

The villain's arms lowered to his sides, and he sniffled wetly. Cold tears trailed down his cheeks.

He panted and wiped at his face with his scaly palms before he gazed back at Tomura.

"Can you hear me now, Spin?"

"Yeah... Yeah I can..."

"...Do you wanna talk about it..?"

Spinner shuddered and simply shrugged his shoulders.

"Alright. That's okay. ...Do you want a hug or anything?"

"Mhm..."

Tomura then leaned in, gently bringing Spinner into his arms.

The latter buried his face into the crook of Tomura's neck, squeezing him tightly. The other villain gently rubbed his knuckles up and down Spinner's back, his other arm wrapped firmly around his waist.

...

"I used to have a tail..."
