say yes

Summary:

“Ah, Bamie, down,” Jungkook calls as he clutches onto Taehyung. “No kissing Taehyungie hyung. He’s mine.”

Taehyung twists his fingers into Jungkook’s collar to drag him into a harder kiss as the words roll around in his mind.

He’s happy, not heartbroken. It isn’t pain he’s reaching into to sound so in his music, but yearning. For Jungkook. For these moments.

Notes:

Helloooooo, this one is for Ashley <3 thank you!!

I loosely followed a timeline I found, so with that being said, in regards to order of events, it might not always be correct.

I don't know if there will be explicit sexual content. I only have one and a half chapters written so far, so the tags may be updated so keep an eye out for that.

this is supposed to be around 20k, so we'll see what happens.

Okay thank you and enjoy!

Chapter Text

“The song is sad. Not only the lyrics, but the way you sing it.”

Jungkook’s tongue digs into his cheek, eyes worrying over Taehyung as he hits rewind so the song reverts back to the pre chorus.

I think about you all the time -

It is a sad song. Not that Taehyung is sad. He’s quite the opposite. Of course there are moments, those that are mixed in with nerves and a pinch of fear because everything is so different and will be, but Taehyung is happy. And excited.

Right now, he’s content. It’s a happiness that’s quieter, more like a comfort and warmth. He doesn’t know the right word, but it’s one of his favorite moments in life. One of his favorite feelings.

And it always comes when he’s close to Jungkook. Especially now, in the late of the night, scooched close together and talking quietly though it is only the two of them. He’s always a little nervous to share his music with any of the members, but those nerves dissipated so quickly and are now long forgotten about.

“Army is going to think someone has broken your heart. Be careful,” Jungkook teases playfully. “I wouldn’t want to be the person to break your heart when Army has your back.”

A smile tugs at Taehyung’s lips as Jungkook hums along to his, ‘I don’t want nobody else.’ His heart is safe, protected, because it’s held by one of the gentlest souls he knows even if Jungkook doesn’t even know he has it.

Are you okay if I’m with someone else?

Jungkook sighs as he suddenly stops the song. They’ve been playing it over and over as Taehyung wants his opinion, his help, whatever. He really does, though he had used it as an excuse to spend the night with Jungkook originally.

“I must be favored to know ya,” Jungkook sings softly as he stands and presses a kiss to his forehead. Taehyung watches quietly as he pads towards the kitchen counter where he had placed drinks for them before he snatched Taehyung’s phone and searched for the music because he knew Taehyung would be too nervous to start the process on his own. “You’re perfect. Every song too. You can feel the love, which kind of makes it even more painful.”

Warmth rushes into Taehyung’s face. He tries to tuck his cheek towards his shoulder shyly, but Jungkook rolls his eyes as he hands Taehyung his drink.

“You know that,” Jungkook says, trying to sound scolding but his tone is too soft. He presses a kiss to Taehyung’s nose and breathes in softly before Taehyung tilts his head.

One of his favorite moments in life, Taehyung thinks as he feels Jungkook’s questioning brush of lips against his own before Taehyung closes the space between them.

He doesn’t remember when it started, it feels like ages ago, though he does remember the first time they kissed. But despite how often they do, Jungkook always hesitates and questions whether it’s okay like Taehyung doesn’t want to kiss him as much as he can, whenever he can.

He appreciates it nonetheless. Especially because his heart always pulses a little harder when Jungkook is about to kiss him, and that pause gives Taehyung a moment to catch his breath.

Slowly, Taehyung shifts his hand up Jungkook’s chest to cup his neck. He digs his fingers in when Jungkook’s lips part and his tongue flicks out, though he only gets the tip of Jungkook’s tongue in his mouth.

Jungkook hums as he climbs into Taehyung’s lap, his fingers just as gentle as his mouth as they rub behind Taehyung’s ears and into his hair. It’s the same kind of soothing touch Jungkook gives when Taehyung is sad, and he thinks about how Jungkook looked at him worriedly just a few minutes before.

Even when Taehyung is fine, Jungkook can still look at him that same way because they’ve gone through so much together. He’s seen Taehyung in his worst moments, and he’s told him that he hurts the most when Taehyung hurts.

“I’m not sad,” Taehyung murmurs against Jungkook’s lips. “I’m really happy.”

He can feel Jungkook’s smile grow as his fingers twist in his hair. “Me too. Though I’ve been so lazy lately.”

Taehyung laughs quietly and pulls back to look at Jungkook. He’s the last person that Taehyung would ever call lazy, and sometimes, he isn’t even sure Jungkook knows what lazy means. “Good. Take breaks before we both get very busy.”

And keep kissing me until we can’t.

Jungkook nods as he pulls his bottom lip into his mouth. Taehyung wishes he could read his mind as his eyes dart over his face.

He hums something, a tune unfamiliar to Taehyung before he leans in and presses another kiss to his mouth.

Their kiss is broken as Bam pushes between them, his tail swishing audibly through the air. Jungkook nearly falls from Taehyung’s lap when he tries to dodge Bam’s attempt at kissing them both too, but Taehyung worms his around his waist to hold him tightly.

He knows it’s only said playfully, but he wants to hear Jungkook call him his again and again.

He’s happy, not heartbroken. It isn’t pain he’s reaching into to sound so in his music, but yearning. For Jungkook. For these moments.

“I knew you would be here. Wakey wakey.”

With a groan, Taehyung twists beneath the covers and blinks in confusion until Jimin’s face is clear above him. He closes his eyes, breathing in deeply to try and get rid of the sleep still clinging to him, but whatever Jungkook sprays his sheets with makes it hard.

“Put your underwear on first,” Jimin says, amused sounding as something hits Taehyung in the chest.

Taehyung really wants to keep sleeping, but he fumbles with the material as he sits up. They aren’t his underwear, he doesn’t know where those are, but he pulls them on because he doesn’t think Jungkook will mind.

Jungkook’s bed is so warm, he’s shocked by the coldness on his back, but it isn’t enough to get him scrambling out of bed to find a sweater.

“Did you break in?” Taehyung asks through his yawn. “Where’s Jungkook?”

“Making breakfast,” Jimin replies. He peeks over his shoulder to assure Taehyung has his underwear on. “You got his back good, you know. You have to be careful.”

The warmth stays with Taehyung as he twists around Jungkook’s room in search of his sweatpants. He pulls open one of Jungkook’s drawers instead. “It’s not like he ever takes his shirt off.”

He can’t stop his proud smile, though it gets Jimin pushing him playfully.

Taehyung smells the food before he stumbles upon Jungkook, and his smile does falter as he eyes the dark scratch lines down Jungkook’s shoulders. Carefully, he cups Jungkook’s bicep before he presses an apologetic kiss to one of them.

He didn’t break much skin, and they will fade quickly, but he didn’t realize he had clung so tightly to Jungkook.

“Sorry,” Taehyung mumbles, but there’s a shit eating grin on Jungkook’s lips.

“It’s a sign of honor,” Jungkook whispers back.

Taehyung only rolls his eyes as he turns onto the counter, keeping close to Jungkook. Being affectionate like they are in private in front of the other members is still new. Jimin doesn’t mind, he thinks they’re cute and was the first to find out after catching them embraced in private, but Taehyung isn’t used to it. Nor does he ever know what to say when Jimin asks questions.

He always asks questions, and Taehyung doesn’t blame him. They’re the same questions in his own head.

“A high praise,” Jungkook keeps going despite Taehyung’s nudge to quit it. “Though, I suppose you deserve some praise too.”

He twists on his feet, head bobbing as he brings the wooden spoon he’s holding to sing into it like a microphone, “it’s the way that you can ride.”

Oh my god. Taehyung stands over the hot plate and the water boiling on it to blame that for his reddened face.

He’s so terribly in love with Jungkook.

“Gross,” Jimin says, practically hums as he steals a piece of meat waiting to be served and plops it into his mouth. “Today feels like it’s going to be a third wheeling day for me.”

Taehyung hits Jimin’s elbow playfully. “It never is.”

Jimin only hums around his mouthful of meat. The teasing glint in his eyes is bright.

For a while, Taehyung had wanted to talk to Jimin about everything. When he was confused, when he was struggling. He had been mortified when Jimin had walked in on them, but it was a blessing.

He was afraid of what the other members would say or that he would cause a riff, but Jimin was playful when he asked and warm, comforting when Taehyung started to word vomit everything he had been holding in. It was such a relief to get it all out, and he felt silly that he thought he couldn’t talk to Jimin about it.

Jungkook is suddenly there, pressing into Taehyung’s back as he reaches around him to stir the boiling water. Taehyung should move out of his way, but Jungkook holds his hip as he continues to hum his song.

It tugs and pulls at Taehyung’s heart. This kind of happiness as Jungkook kisses his jaw. It is such a small gesture, but he likes those the most.

“Deeper than the ocean is. Here, try this.”

With another utensil, Jungkook carefully brings up a noodle to Taehyung’s mouth. He blows on it, though it does little to reduce the heat.

“S’good.”

Jungkook pulls on Taehyung’s hip until he turns. “Yeah?”

Before Taehyung can nod, Jungkook leans and teases until their mouths nearly touch. A question, like always. One that Taehyung nods to. Like always.

There’s a spark in his gut when Jungkook grabs onto his face and licks obnoxiously into his mouth. His groan of content is overdone and exaggerated when he pulls away and pats his chest proudly.

“Good job, Jungkook-ah.”

“Good job, Jungkook-ah,” Taehyung repeats as he wraps his arm around Jungkook’s neck and holds him close. “I’m starving.”

Jungkook’s nose scrunches with his smile, his attention focused on the pot now but Taehyung’s eyes are glued to him.

They usually are from what he’s heard.

Taehyung flicks his chin when he realizes it and pulls away to join Jimin though his eyes are curious like he’s checking on him. Taehyung doesn’t know if he’s done something for that, but Taehyung is quite sure Jimin can read his mind.

It’s often that Taehyung thinks Jimin knows him better than himself.

“Is Jungkook this giddy because you finally told him?” Jimin whispers as he pulls Taehyung into Jungkook’s pantry. He looks delighted, but Taehyung doesn’t know what he’s talking about. “Has to be. He’s never this energetic in the morning. Did you guys have a confession bang?”

“What? What does that mean?”

Jimin rolls his eyes. “You told him you’re in love with him and have been since like, the last dozen lifetimes and he feels the same so you, boom, banged.”

A laugh leaves Taehyung’s mouth, but it is born from nerves instead of amusement. He’s tried denying that he is in love with Jungkook, but one, Jimin isn’t ever having it, and two, he can’t deny it anymore.

That feeling is at the forefront of his mind often. He hasn’t been able to deny it since the moment he realized it, during another quiet moment with Jungkook. They weren’t doing much, just talking quietly and looking at the stars on Jungkook’s ceiling.

The realization surged through Taehyung so hard that he had to kiss Jungkook. The way he did was so sudden that it pulled a surprised gasp from Jungkook, but Jungkook molded into him without hesitation.

Taehyung worried after that that Jungkook would realize it because it felt like that feeling was pouring out of Taehyung as he tangled his body with Jungkook’s.

He questioned it for some time, that maybe he was just in a stage filled with lust and fun and attention, but the answer is clear. Especially with how he feels over those small gestures.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Taehyung whispers back as he tries to escape the pantry. “If I haven’t told him now, why would I tell him when we’re about to be apart for months on end?”

Jimin’s expression softens as Taehyung shakes his head and wishes that hadn’t burst out of him.

It’s one of the things he’s nervous about even though he knows it’s absolutely absurd. His brain knows that it is, yet it still allows such a fear to sneak in despite knowing the times they have been apart, they’ve fallen right back into each other.

“As if,” Jimin replies like he always does. “The moment one of you return, you’ll be right back with each other because -”

Taehyung presses a finger to Jimin’s lips when he hears Jungkook walking closer to them. He knows what Jimin is going to say because Jimin is as consistent with trying to convince Taehyung that Jungkook is in love with him as Jungkook is consistent with hesitating before a kiss.

He feels Jimin’s teeth, and even though it isn’t an actual bite, Taehyung yanks his hand away like it had been.

“In love with you,” Jimin wheezes as he follows after him. “Like crazy!”

Jungkook quirks an eyebrow at them when they reappear. Taehyung’s flushed, and he hopes it isn’t noticeable but Jungkook can read him about as well as Jimin can.

“Isn’t that right, Jungkook-ah?”

The grin that appears on Jungkook’s face is mischievous. “I agree with whatever Taehyungie hyung said.”

“Hey,” Jimin complains as he pretends to kick Jungkook, who twists around with his arms crossing over his body like he expected such a reaction. Which is likely, as one of Jungkook’s favorite pastimes is teasing Jimin. “Taehyung is afraid you two aren’t going to see each other in a long time because of how busy you’ll be.”

Jungkook’s face falls like he can tell that Taehyung’s heart had. Even if he knows Jungkook didn’t know what they were talking about, his brain still lets the thought creep in that Jungkook would agree with his side of the Jungkook being in love with him argument.

And Taehyung kind of wants to kick Jimin, but he also appreciates it because Jungkook doesn’t hesitate to curl an arm around his body and cup the side of his neck. He knows it’s a ridiculous worry, that’s why he hasn’t said it to Jungkook. Even more so because he already knew this would be Jungkook’s reaction.

“No way,” Jungkook murmurs as he thumbs Taehyung’s cheek. “I already plan on video calling you as much as possible so we won’t feel the distance. You’ll get sick of me, I’m sure of it.”

Taehyung’s fingers scrape Jungkook’s stomach, lingering there until he finds the band of Jungkook’s shorts for something to hold onto. “That’s not possible.”

“You were sad last night, weren’t you?” Jungkook whispers, head cocking to the side. His thumb moves to the swell of Taehyung’s cheek as Taehyung shakes his head.

“No, I really wasn’t,” Taehyung complains. He pretends to pull away from Jungkook so his embrace will tighten, though he doesn’t break his own hold on Jungkook. “I promise.”

Jimin wraps around their sides, arms hugging their shoulders as he pushes his face closer to theirs. “And I’ll be sneaking into your luggage.”

Amusement swells inside of Taehyung. He lets go of Jungkook to squeeze Jimin’s hip, but he has to pull away and clear his throat because there’s emotion swelling there suddenly, and he doesn’t want it to grow.

“Don’t let the food burn,” Taehyung says thickly, turning to the counter to give the others his back. “I’m starving.”

Jungkook’s eyes linger like they tend to do when he thinks he’s sad, but he doesn’t again. He just nods. “Coming right up, hyung.”

It’s happiness. It bursts through Taehyung as he clutches onto Jungkook’s arm because he can’t stop laughing. His face is hidden in Jungkook’s shoulder, his eyes wet with tears. Jungkook is laughing too, it’s loud in his voice as he talks shit to Hyungsik.

“Show some respect,” Hyungsik grunts, though he looks just as amused as he wiggles a scolding finger to Jungkook. “Don’t think you can get away from anything just because you’re Taehyung-ah’s boyfriend.”

Taehyung lifts his face from Jungkook’s hoodie, the word making his heart race more than it has all night. They’re just coming from a concert, and Taehyung had a blast. He’s quite tipsy too, so it feels like his heart is beating in his ears.

There’s no way Jungkook missed being called that. They aren’t laughing that loud, but he doesn’t seem to notice it. He doesn’t react or deny it, he just waves a dismissive hand at Hyungsik.

Does he mind that? He is okay with them being more affectionate in front of others, which could lead to someone seeing them as boyfriends. Did he consider that when he agreed?

And if he did and is okay with it, what does that mean?

Taehyung wants to hide his face in Jungkook’s shoulder again because he’s afraid of the sound rumbling in his throat.

“He’s used to getting away with everything,” Namjoon says from where he leans against the table of drinks Hyungsik had put out. “Blame Yoongi hyung.”

Yoongi whips up from where he’s been buried in his phone, his face full of offense. It makes the laughter around them grow. “Me? You can’t ever say no to him either! I’m minding my own business here, why are you bringing me into this?”

Jungkook snickers as he shifts around until his back is against Taehyung’s chest. Taehyung slips a hand over his shoulder to rest his hand on Jungkook’s chest, inhaling deeply to soak in everything about Jungkook.

He’s warm. He smells good. He always does. Even when he’s sweaty and whining about needing a shower, though Taehyung would never admit that out loud because Jungkook would never let him live it down. He would be teased relentlessly, although he never actually minds that.

“Taehyung too,” Hyungsik says as he ruffles Taehyung’s hair while passing him by to join Namjoon. “You know that pouty look he uses when he wants something? ‘Hyung,’” he mocks, his voice deepening and turning into a whine that does not at all sound like him. “‘Hyung, hyung.’”

Taehyung gives into the urge and buries his face back into Jungkook’s hoodie. He’s had the kind of night that he doesn’t want to end, though he’s been craving to get Jungkook alone. Even if it’s only for a few moments, long enough to sneak a few kisses in. He considers pulling Jungkook into another room to do just that, but the others are already starting to tease them and that would only give them more ammo.

And he doesn’t want to move when Jungkook grabs his arms and adjusts them so they’re wrapped around his middle. So he places his chin on Jungkook’s shoulder and sneaks a kiss to Jungkook’s cheek before he leans his head into his.

“Yah,” Namjoon agrees loudly with an accusing look towards them. “He’s always using that on me. I swear the two of them get together and plot how to use our weaknesses against us.”

“Taehyung’s cuteness is your weakness?” Jungkook huffs out, giggling. “Because same.”

The second part is said quietly as Jungkook tries to turn his head towards Taehyung. It brings their mouths closer, and Taehyung is just tipsy enough to not care about anyone seeing them kiss.

“Ironic coming from you,” Taehyung whispers back.

“Me? Nah. I’m sexy.”

Taehyung bites out a laugh and buries his face back into Jungkook’s shoulder. He is, and it’s dangerous that he knows that.

“Go somewhere,” Yoongi grunts as he kicks out to push his foot into Jungkook’s knee. “I’m still haunted and having nightmares of you two making out.”

Yoongi’s another that’s walked in on them. It was completely their fault because they had snuck into his studio because Jungkook really does get whatever he wants, including the passcode to open the studio door. They weren’t being careful like they usually tried to be, and after that, they tried not to sneak in kisses and touches when they were alone, but they weren’t successful for long.

His reaction wasn’t as excited as Jimin’s. There was a dramatic cry and a look of horror before Yoongi covered his eyes and left his studio, just to come back a second later like he remembered it was his and shooed them off to make out somewhere else.

Jungkook doesn’t argue as he wiggles out of Taehyung’s embrace and grabs Taehyung’s hand. Yoongi pretends to look grossed out, but Taehyung doesn’t miss the small smile that grows on his face before he looks back down to his phone.

It’s late. Taehyung doesn’t know what time it is, but Hyungsik has already told them they could all spend the rest of the night at his place so Taehyung hopes he doesn’t mind when Jungkook pulls him into the guest room.

The door isn’t even shut before Jungkook’s hands are sneaking up Taehyung’s shirt just to soak in his warmth and his body is pressed against his.

“I love you,” Jungkook whispers against Taehyung’s lips as his palms run over his bare skin and up his spine. “Been wanting to kiss you all night.”

Taehyung’s heart flutters, but he doesn’t kiss Jungkook. Not like he’s been craving. He plays with the hoops lining his ear and just takes in Jungkook’s soft expression for a moment. He has already had his eyes on him for most of the night, but it’s different like this. Softer.

Again, Jungkook hums a tune that Taehyung’s starting to get familiar with but he still doesn’t know where it’s from. He’s assuming it’s a song Jungkook’s working on for his album, but it doesn’t match any of the ones Jungkook has shown him yet.

Usually, Jungkook shares everything with him first thing. He wants to ask, but he also wants to listen to Jungkook’s album and figure out which song it is.

“Then why aren’t you kissing me?” Taehyung asks, though he pulls his head back when Jungkook’s mouth is almost on his.

Jungkook’s nose wrinkles as he grunts and ducks forward again. His teeth grip onto Taehyung’s lip and tug, pulling a groan from Taehyung that he hadn’t even noticed was building.

Pressing him into the door, Jungkook braces his forearms around Taehyung’s head as his tongue licks into his mouth. It’s a slow kiss, but the heat is there and burning through Taehyung’s limbs. Taehyung can still taste the alcohol on his tongue, which is much stronger than he prefers, but he likes the taste of it this way.

As if Jungkook can read his mind, he sighs over Taehyung’s mouth and whispers, “I wish we were home. Craving you.”

That has Taehyung nearly on fire. He nods as he tucks his hands into the front of Jungkook’s hoodie because he craves to touch every inch of Jungkook, but he can’t allow himself to. Not here.

“Keep your schedule clear for me tomorrow then.”

Jungkook smiles and kisses the corner of Taehyung’s mouth. “Mm. I will. Every day. By the time I head to L.A., you’ll be looking forward to a break from me.”

Without even thinking about it, Taehyung shakes his head. He cups Jungkook’s face to check him, to see if he has any of that fear Taehyung has, but he’s glowing. “That’s impossible.”

Jungkook hums again. “Good because I’ll be missing you.”

Taehyung grins as he slides his hands down to tangle his fingers in Jungkook’s collar. “Is that so?”

He only gets a hum in response as Jungkook leans in, his nose brushing over Taehyung’s skin like he likes to breathe him in too.

***

There’s a reason Jungkook prefers the purple lights that he so often uses at night. It’s a color that makes him feel the most at home, that gives him a feeling of contentment. It means something to Army, he knows they like it because of the meaning behind it, and because of that, it also reminds him of BTS and everything his life has become:

But it also reminds him most of Taehyung. When they’re apart and Jungkook misses him beside him, he turns on the lights and stares up at the ceiling until he feels like he’s soaking in Taehyung’s love.

They’re together now, and Jungkook has the lights on because he knows how much Taehyung likes them. He’s saying something about getting a similar lighting set up so he can use them in his lives too, even though it’s become Jungkook’s thing.

There’s magic in the room, do you feel it too?

“Army was excited to see us together,” Taehyung murmurs as he turns so he’s leaning into Jungkook, facing him. “I think they were really surprised. I’m glad. I wanted them to see Hobi-hyung because they’ve been sad since his enlistment was announced.”

Jungkook runs a finger over Taehyung’s cheek. The purple lights remind him of Taehyung, and they’re pretty but they’re nothing compared to how beautiful Taehyung is. Especially beneath them.

Are we falling in love? Say yes or no, yes or no -

“And they got a kick out of you doing your laundry so late and while on live,” Taehyung teases, giggling softly. “You should probably sleep now. You’ll only get a few hours in before you have to leave.”

Jungkook turns on his side too as he runs his hand down Taehyung’s body to lay on his hip. “I’ll sleep on the flight. Want to spend every moment with you until then.”

It’s been on his mind since Jimin mentioned it. Does Taehyung really think they’ll spend such a long time apart? Jungkook never even considered that, though he already knows he’ll miss Taehyung when they’re apart from each other. Every if it’s only for a few days. He’ll miss everyone, he already does, but it’s different with Taehyung.

It always has been, and it wasn’t until a few years ago that Jungkook realized why.

“I don’t want you to be so tired, but selfishly…” Taehyung trails off, biting at his lip and attempting to look innocent. He can try all he wants, but Jungkook knows better. Taehyung can be shy, nervous, sweet, quiet, embarrassed, and a million other things, but he isn’t innocent.

And when he tries to look it, that means he’s definitely far from it.

Jungkook laughs. “Think of it as me preparing for the time difference.”

That innocent look turns into a pout, and Jungkook once again wonders if Taehyung is sad or worried. It was a long time ago that Taehyung kept it all to himself, but Jungkook still can’t shake his habit of wanting to check on Taehyung and make sure he isn’t doing that again.

All the traffic in my head is going crazy

“Stay with me until the end of the day,” Taehyung sings softly, teasingly. It adds to the warmth already inside of Jungkook.

Without a word, Jungkook jumps up from the bed and holds a hand out for Taehyung. Taehyung looks at it for a moment, brows scrunching together, but he takes it.

“We can slow dance until the morning,” Jungkook says, deepening his voice as he pulls Taehyung towards his body so he can slide his arm around his waist. A smile erupts across Taehyung’s face as he laughs under his breath and falls into the slow sway Jungkook starts moving.

“And romance?” Taehyung asks, tilting his head like he’s shy.

Jungkook hums. “Well, of course. Didn’t think I loved anything more than dancing until I started romancing you.”

Taehyung brings his bottom lip into his mouth, looking over Jungkook’s face with that same expression that has Jungkook wanting to ask. But Taehyung doesn’t say anything, just leans forward and presses their cheeks together.

“Don’t go romancing anyone else,” Taehyung grumbles a moment later, and Jungkook can’t help but laugh because even the thought of it is ridiculous.

“You’re the one that keeps getting hit on,” Jungkook reminds him gently as he moves to twirl Taehyung around. Taehyung goes with it, and as he returns to Jungkook’s body, Jungkook cups his cheek to press a kiss to his lips. “Can’t blame him.”

Taehyung sighs as Jungkook pinches his chin to deepen the kiss. He hooks his arms over Jungkook’s shoulders and molds into him easily.

It’s been awhile since this has started. Jungkook still remembers the moment it had, though it feels like a century ago. They were dared to kiss, and they did. It sparked something so strong through Jungkook that he couldn’t help but ask Taehyung if they could again, when it was just the two of them. It had been hesitant and curious, until Taehyung’s fingers gripped hard into his hair and it became hot and desperate.

Jungkook still can’t believe Taehyung allows him this, and all of the intimate ways they’ve shared themselves. He hasn’t kissed or been with anyone else since then, or much before that, which is why it’s so ridiculous for Taehyung to even joke about him doing so.

“Dance with me, Jungkook-ah,” Taehyung whispers against his lips as he starts moving. “Hum the song you won’t tell me about.”

That warmth rushes into Jungkook’s face. He hadn’t realized he was humming it often, though he should have with how often the song is in his head. The lyrics, mostly.

He considers singing them, but he does as asked and hums it as he slowly dances with Taehyung around his bedroom and savors the sight of Taehyung’s warm smile as he closes his eyes like he’s savoring the tune.

It’s been a hard but productive day. Jungkook is excited about his new work and sharing it with everyone, and that’s giving him an energy that keeps him from taking the nap he planned on taking before he’s back to work.

He bounces around his hotel room, humming to himself as he tries to figure out something to do to burn his energy so he can fall asleep. It’s in the middle of the night in Korea, and he doesn’t want to risk waking anyone by calling them to keep him company.

“Ah,” Jungkook groans as he punches the air in front of him a few times, bouncing on his feet. He does that for a few minutes before he slumps onto his couch and he decides to text his manager to see if they can do something.

There’s a message on his phone that Jungkook quickly swipes, forgetting about his manager as warmth cascades across his chest. He pulls his legs up to his body, biting at his smile as Taehyung’s face fills his computer screen.

“I saw Jungkook do his lives with lights like this,” Taehyung is saying quietly. It makes Jungkook’s cheeks hurt as he falls to his side and cradles the phone close to his face.

He could listen to Taehyung talk for hours, and he has before. His voice is soothing, comforting. Jungkook is across the world, but he feels at home while he listens to Taehyung talk and sing along to the music he plays.

Every time Taehyung mentions him, Jungkook wonders if he’s up and missing him or needing company like Jungkook does right now.

He frowns when the live ends, but it’s only seconds later that his phone is lighting up again and answering Jungkook’s question.

“Jungkook-ah,” Taehyung yawns as soon as Jungkook answers. “What are you doing?”

“Just watched your live,” Jungkook replies. “Do you miss me?”

Taehyung grumbles and yawns again. “Was it obvious?”

“No. I just want you to.”

Selfishly, Jungkook wants to keep Taehyung on the phone until he has to go to his next schedule, but how tired he is is evident in his voice. “I do. I wanted to go to yours, but it’s late. So I thought I’d put on the lights you gave me, and I wanted to share that with Army.”

“Should have started folding your underwear too,” Jungkook jokes, earning the deep laugh from Taehyung that he’s been craving to hear.

“Those are just for your eyes,” Taehyung teases. “You haven’t said you miss me too.”

Jungkook pauses, humming to himself. It’s meant to be playful, and he can’t help but smile when Taehyung whines in complaint.

“Of course, of course,” Jungkook rushes out, giggling. “Every hour, every minute, every second. How can I not miss you when I’ve spent the last few days singing about you?”

He wishes he could see Taehyung as Taehyung exhales out loudly, as his heart grows in his chest because it feels like a confession. Since he’s heard the demo, he’s been singing it to Taehyung, but still.

“Jungkook-ah,” Taehyung complains, but he doesn’t give an explanation for it. He yawns and falls quiet so Jungkook can only hear his breathing.

He still doesn’t want to hang up. He’s content just like this, listening to Taehyung like he’s beside him. Even if he does fall asleep on the phone, Jungkook wouldn’t mind.

Something about you, do you feel the way I do?

“I love you,” Taehyung whispers with another yawn. “Want to have breakfast dinner together?”

Jungkook nods, licking at his lips. He realizes Taehyung isn’t actually beside him to see him, so he quickly says, “Of course.”

“Good,” Taehyung mumbles like he is falling asleep. “Call me then.”

Jungkook clings onto the phone, pressing it hard into his ear. “Fall asleep first, and I’ll hang up.”

The only thing he gets in response is a low hum of agreement from Taehyung, and Jungkook wants to break his promise about hanging up when he hears the soft snore in Taehyung’s breathing.

“I love you too,” Jungkook says because he hadn’t when Taehyung did. He hangs up after a moment before he turns on his back and sighs at the ceiling he wishes were purple.
