Chapter Text
“✦✦✦✦, survive, okay? No matter what happens. Remember, we love you.”
“Survive, my son.”
❁❁❁
“Forgive me…”
❁❁❁
If he was to think, he’d rather not... This mere act of survival violated everything he had been taught…
❁❁❁
Safe at last. Safe at long, long last.
❁❁❁
The fires of the forge was one thing, and the fire of vengeance another. Together with his ambition and need for revenge. He had created masterpiece after masterpiece to aid the Xianzhou carry out the expulsion of Borisin from Thalassa.
❁❁❁
There he stood atop the starskiff. A final survey of the blood red sea of Thalassa. The disintegrated maws of the Borisin and their flayed limbs bobbed up and down the now solemnly lapping waves. Vengeance 40 years lying in wait, at last fulfilled. His perseverance and drive repaid with this sea. He had avenged them, and murmured a soft prayer for his parents. Alas, this moment was brief as he heard the footsteps of his fellow quintet member.
“✦✦✦✦! Come! Baiheng told me to get you! Dan Feng is going to start a storm if you’re late!”
❁❁❁
“✦✦✦✦, I love you.”
“I love you too dumbass.”
“✦✦✦✦, come on why can’t you be as sappy as Jing Liu is to Baiheng?”
“The day you consider me as sappy as Jingliu is the day I can float in the air like Dan Feng. After all, someone needs to keep you level headed. Also Baiheng is sappier.”
“I am level headed! And it’s because I have blackmail material on Jing Liu!”
“Say what you will.”
❁❁❁
“Oh good, you’re alive. How many fingers am I holding?”
❁❁❁
Vivid as it was, Ren was tired. Dreams of his past did no one good, most especially himself.
“Rennnnnnnnn!”
Too early. If he were to truly die, it’d probably be less poetic and under the hands of Silver Wolf. Not to mention the fact that he had actually died to save them a handful of times already while they were still learning the scripts that Elio gave them.
“What?”
“Elio has a new script for all of us, and it’s a pretty long one.”
Ren lets himself respond by closing his eyes.
“Well, give me the script. How long?”
“Here, I just sent the files to your phone. Kafka says five years or so.”
Letting out a huff, Ren pulls his sword from the little notch he made for it.
“Where are we going to be for the next five years?”
“A planet called Thalassa."
