Chapter Text
Izuku has always been a curious child, even at the age of four. He loved learning about anything he could. From learning to read and write, to mythology. What he likes the most, however, is learning about and analysing quirks.
He had just started writing a notebook he’d named his ‘hero analysis for the future’ although it’s so far just naming All-Mights smashes and talking about how strong he is. Though Inko knew that if he kept up, Izuku would eventually be able to dissect a quirk within seconds of seeing it. He was just like his father in that regard. Izuku had spent hours at a single time talking with his mother about the types of quirks that he’s seen, and even about her own one, which led to the discussion of what quirk he’d get.
Inko had been surprised by all the ideas Izuku had, from evolutions of both hers and his father's quirks, to possible combinations of them both. They had both waited, seeing what Izuku would end up getting. but Izuku was nearly 5, and the rest of his class had already shown their quirks, yet Izuku hadn’t even shown any signs of a quirk. This led to where they were today, her and Izuku sitting in a doctor's office.
“Well, Mrs. Midoriya, I have the results of our tests, however they don’t look good,” the stout man told her.
“W- what do you mean?” she asked, worry starting to seep into her.
The doctor stood up, going to his projector, and pulling up a couple photos. “Well, the most easily identifiable test is the foot X-ray.” he points to a photo labelled Izuku Midoriya, “as you can see here, he has an extra to joint compared to the ordinary person. In the dawn of quirks this wasn’t a sure way of identifying if someone has a quirk or not. but over time, as the human population adapted to handle quirks, this method slowly became more accurate. Nowadays its rate is 98.5%.”
“So- so you're saying he’s-” Inko started, stumbling through her words before stopping herself, unable to say the end of her sentence.
“It is, extremely unlikely, that your boy will develop a quirk.” the doctor states. Inko hears a clack and turns to see her little Izuku staring at the ground, his All-Might figurine dropped to his side. Inko uses her quirk to pick up the figure, putting it into Izuku’s lap.
“A- are you sure? What about his fingers?” Inko pleaded, holding up Izuku’s fingers. The ends of them had a blue hue to them, with the tips shaped like cartoonish puckers on octopi.
“Well, from what I've been able to gather, it's more a vestigial mutation. Which aren't always related to quirks. There's a family I know of that all have pink skin. In fact, you and your son both already have vestigial mutations.” the doctor explained.
“W- we do?” Inko asked, confused.
“Indeed, though it's not something that special. Back before quirks appeared, the only hair colours humans had were different browns, blondes, blacks, and gingers. Yet nowadays we have the entire rainbow. So, your family's green hair is also a not quirk related mutation.” he explained.
“O-oh. W-well can't we just say that his blue fingers are a quirk?” Inko pleaded.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Midoriya, but I cannot lie on government documents. Even if it would help your son.” the doctor told her, seeming slightly upset himself.
“Oh, O- okay. Thank you for your time, Dr Tsubasa.” she said, taking the still unmoving Izuku's hand, and leading him home.
Inko had just gotten off the phone with her husband, telling him the results of Izuku’s tests. She was upset, as they both knew Izuku could use Hisashi’s support right now. She felt lost, unsure of what she could say to Izuku.
Once they had gotten home, the boy ran straight to his room, not leaving. Inko had eventually decided to do the only thing she knows to do, and started making Izuku’s favourite meal, Katsudon. She had just finished preparing it and went to collect her little boy to come eat. She approached his door but stopped hearing noises from his room. She slowly opened the door and saw Izuku watching his favourite video of All-Might rescuing people from a collapsed building. Izuku must have heard her come in, because he turned round, looking like he had been crying nonstop since he’d gotten home.
“M- M- mum... All-Might, he's so C- cool. He saves everyone with a S- smile. He says anyone can be a hero. C- can I be a hero too?” he asks, stuttering on every other word. The question breaks Inko, and she starts crying as hard as he is. She leaps to Izuku, her knees failing her as she reaches him. She embraces him, telling him the only thing she can think to say.
“Oh Izuku, you can be anything you want. You’ll be the best, my baby boy!” she cries, letting him know that everything's ok, everything has to be ok.
“Young man, my master once told me that there was a difference between getting lucky and earning something. I know now what she meant; you’ve earned this. Now Eat This!”
“Huh?” Izuku asked, Staring up at his hero, THE hero! All-Might had just asked him to eat one of the man's hairs. The statement made Izuku think back to how he got himself into this position. About 10 months ago ‘ jeez has it really been that long?’ he’d met the number one hero, asking the man the only question Izuku ever had for him. Initially the hero said no, that he couldn’t be a hero. But one rescue attempt later, Izuku had proven his worth to the man. What followed was metaphorical bombshell after bombshell. All-Might had a quirk that could be passed down, and he wanted to give it to Izuku ‘ omg I still can’t believe this’ what followed was what could only be described as 10 months of hell training. He'd worked almost daily to clear a sector of Takoba beach. Each day put Izuku to the brink of exhaustion, but he kept working, and eventually cleared even outside the designated section. There was only a small area left, that Izuku wanted to finish between the practical exam and start of school year. He almost couldn’t believe the progress he made, but wish he’d finished sooner since-
“Young Midoriya, you still with me? ” the hulking hero asked jokingly.
“Huh? Oh yeah, sorry All-Might, just thinking about the past.” Izuku chuckled, “Did you say something?”
“Ah just recollecting about when I was told that very same sentence. ” the hero explained. “ You see, for the transfer of one for all, you need to digest my DNA, and I suppose this is the least disgusting way to do it.”
“Oh, that makes sense, considering quirks are part of our DNA and body structure... Wait! What if I gave someone a blood donation, or something like that?" Izuku asked worriedly.
“Ah not to worry my boy. I also have to be willing to pass along my quirk. Its cannot be forcibly taken, though forcibly received. now, are you ready to take this awesome power?” the hero asked, once again holding his hair for Izuku to retrieve.
Izuku takes the hair, looking at it closely, before asking his hero one last question. “All-Might, are you really sure you should be giving this to me? Do you really think I can live up to you?”
The hero stills, before slowly speaking. “ Oh, my boy, there's no one else I'd rather have. You already make me so proud. You won't just live up to me, you'll succeed me in so many ways. ”
Izuku sniffles, before taking the hair to his mouth and swallowing it. “I guess that’s it? Thank you All-Might.”
“Call me Toshinori, my boy. We spent the last ten months together. Besides we share a bond thicker than blood now.” The hero smiled.
Izuku breaks down, starting to sob as he dashes forward and hugs All- Toshinori. “T- thank you Toshi, thank you for everything.”
Toshinori pauses at hearing his predecessors nickname for him come out his successors mouth, but embraces the boy. Smiling. “ Shh shh, its ok now my boy. I am here, for you and anything you need. ” He lets the boy shed his tears, until they part.
“Oh gosh that’s so embarrassing, crying on my idols shoulder like that.” Izuku chuckles out, wiping away tears.
“ha-ha, worry not young Midoriya, I've grown used to your tears .” the hero smiled.
“Y- you know, you can call me Izuku. I- if you’d like, that is” Izuku rambled, before asking. “So, how do I use One For All?”
“Well, young Izuku. ” the hero started, smiling as he said Izuku's name. “ When I use One For All, I just clench my cheeks any yell out Smash! ”
Izuku stilled, “What!”
The hero started laughing before explaining, “ but seriously, I adapted to One For All Instantly, so I'm not all that much help there. but there is an innate feeling once you know the power is there. ”
“Ok, well I'll see what I can do.” Izuku says, getting into a battle stance. He starts feeling for... something, until Toshinori stops him.
“Not yet young Izuku, it'll. take an hour or two for the hair to digest and the quirk to settle inside you. Besides, you need to get prepared for your exam today. ” Toshinori reminds him.
“Oh my gosh, you’re right! I- I need to go home and shower!” Izuku exclaims.
They start walking to the beach entrance. “ Come along now, young Izuku, I'll drive you home. ” he says, patting Izuku’s back.
Izuku had always noticed it from a distance, it was hard not to, but seeing the massive U.A University building from close up was something else entirely. Izuku stands at the gate, the last year still feeling unreal. He was really about to take the U.A hero course entrance exam. And with his very own quirk! Izuku took an extra second, trying to feel if his quirk had come in. There was no innate feeling like Toshinori had described, but his body was buzzing, especially his fingers. Maybe that was it, or was it just nerves?
“Move it! Ya stupid fucking Deku.” Izuku was broken out of his thoughts by Kacchan walking past him, making the boy flinch slightly. It was odd. Despite them not getting along, ever since the sludge villain incident Kacchan didn’t really torment him.
“L- lets both do our best!” Izuku called out, steeling himself to enter the exam. He steps forward, only to trip on his shoe, now on a trajectory straight to the concrete. ‘ This is it, this is the end’ He braced for impact. Slightly confused when he realises he should’ve hit the ground way before now. Izuku carefully opens one eye to inspect and finds out he’s floating above the ground.
“Hehe, sorry for using my quirk on you, but I thought it’d be bad luck to trip before the exam.” a sweet voice calls out. Izuku looks to the side and sees a brunette girl with rosy cheeks.
“I- I- it's O- ok,” Izuku manages to stutter out, looking like a deer in headlights.
The girl chuckled, “Well, I gotta get going. Good luck!” she called out, running off into the building. Izuku felt stuck there, like her quirk was still in effect, ‘ i wonder what kind of quirk it was, some kind of telekinesis perhaps? No, it's more likely some kind of gravity manipulation, I think I saw pads on her fingers so I'm presuming five-point-contact.’ he broke out of his mutterings after realising it was starting to get quiet around him.
“Ah, I don’t want to be late!” he yelled, racing into the building.
The written exam was... kinda easy. Now maybe that was because Izuku had years where the only thing he could do was look up obscure facts that don’t seem to obscure anymore. Either way Izuku just hopes leaving half an hour early doesn’t mean anything bad for his grades. Everyone had started gathering back into the exam hall for the practical exam explanation. Izuku found his seat, internally sighing as he sees Kacchan in the seat next to him.
“H-hey, how’d your written go?” he tried asking, only to get a growl in return.
Izuku just looks away, trying to settle down. The buzzing from early had lessened, but the tingling in his fingers had gotten worse. He was looking down at them as the lights dimmed, and he saw someone walk onstage. ‘ Oh my gosh that’s the voice hero; present mic!”
The hero had a lean physique, and looked to be around average height, though it was hard to tell from so far away. He was wearing his Iconic hero outfit: a leather jacket with elbow pads on them, and matching leather trousers. He had fingerless gloves on and high boots. Adorn on the man’s head was his HAGE headphones, and his directional speakers on his neck.
“Hello everyone, welcome to today's live performance, can I hear you say HEEEEYYYYY!”.
“HEEEE-eey,” Izuku cheered, quietening down as he hears no one else cheering. The yell gathered a couple chuckles from around him, making Izuku go red and try shrink on himself.
“I love the enthusiasm, kid. I'm rootin for you!” Present mic called out, trying to lighten the mood. “I’m here to show you how your practical exam is going to go. ARE YOU READY!” He yelled, met by silence.
“Alright, here’s how it's going to go. You’ll all have a 10-minute simulation in our faux city replicas to prove your mettle. Use whatever you have at your disposal, be it quirks or support items. After this presentation I’ll need ya all to go to your designated meeting area, ya dig?” The hero explained, posing exaggeratedly.
Looking over, Izuku saw that Kacchan had a different designated area to himself. “ Hmm, I suppose it does make sense, having people that know each other could skew the results slightly. Though wouldn’t that help find future support heroes?” Izuku started muttering, before Kacchan stopped him.
“Shut up, loser. And don’t look at my fucking card!” He growled out.
“Alright listeners, throughout the cityscape will be faux villain robots, each designated a point value of one to three. The point worth will be easily identifiable through both a large number painted on their sides, and design of the robot. Of course, the higher the value the higher the difficulty to take down. So use all your skills little listeners and rack up a high score.” The hero presented, while the large screen behind him showed off the designs of the robots and their point values. “Of course, intentional sabotage of other examinees will result in immediate disqualification. Not very hero like, ya see!”
“Excuse me!” A voice from below Izuku yelled out, disrupting the presentation. A tall, blue haired boy stood up presenting a pamphlet.
“We have only been told of three targets, yet on the handout sheets there are four shown. This kind of error should not be at rural hero institutes, let alone the prestigious U.A.”
“Ah well-“ present mic tried to respond.
“And you!” The boy said, pointing right to Izuku. “This entire presentation you have been taking nearly nonstop. If you think you can relax and slack off, you clearly have no place here.”
“OKAYY, thank you for the question, listener. Well, the fourth villain type is worth a whopping… 0 points! Those bots are real gimmicky. Meant to simulate an opponent too powerful for you alone. I’d suggest staying out of its sight.” The hero explained.
“Okayyy ladies and gentlemen. Now that you’ve got the rundown on this shindig, I’ll leave you all with our institute's motto: ‘A true hero never stops overcoming life’s misfortunes’. Good luck on the main event. And make sure to GO BEYOND!” The voice hero finishes.
His resolve steeled, Izuku gets up and searches for his arena area. After a few minutes, he gets to his area and changes into his workout clothes. Before taking the shuttle to his arena
Staring up at the massive gates, Izuku started getting worried. ‘Oh my gosh I showed up to the U.A practical exam with nothing but a quirk I've never even used before what am I thinking.’ he started looking around at the other examinees, knowing dissecting their quirks could help calm him before the exam. He’d seen a couple interesting ones before he noticed the cute girl from that morning, who looked as nervous as he was. He decided that maybe talking to her could calm them both down, and he could give her a proper thanks.
“I hope you're not going over to distract her,” a voice warned, stopping Izuku on his way over. He looked back, seeing the same blue-haired boy that called him out in the auditorium.
“Wh- what? N- no I w- was-” he tried to explain
“START!” the booming voice of present mic yelled. Everyone stopped and looked at the now open gates. “WHAT ARE Y’ALL STANDING AROUND FOR. THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN HEROICS!”
At the command, everyone started racing into the city, leaving Izuku alone. “Huh, engine quirk. Wonder if he’s related to Ingenium... WAIT I don’t want to fall behind!” he screeches, following everyone into the battle zone.
He kept running past everyone, as the robots near the entrance were already all being taken care of by examinees. Finally reaching a street without many people in it, he turned down into it. He slowly looked around, searching for any robots to take down. He thought to check the next street over, when he heard a sound behind him.
“Aah!” he yelped, jumping back as a 1-pointer appeared, punching into the ground. Izuku stood frozen, not expecting them to pack such a punch. breathing out, Izuku ran at the robot, yelling out “SMAAA-”
A beam of light smashed through the robot, which Izuku was actually thankful for as he didn’t think he’d activated One For All. He looked over and saw a blonde man with a metallic belt. “Thank you, monsieur, for being such a great distraction for Moi.” he gleamed, before leaving.
“SIX MINUTES REMAINING, LISTENERS!” Present mic yelled out. The announcement made Izuku falter. He’s nearly halfway through the exam and doesn’t have a single point. All around him he heard people yell out their points, from low twenties to high forties. ‘ Oh no this is bad, there are hardly any villain robots around and I have no way of getting any points!”
In a dark room, high up between the testing zones, a group of costumed heroes sat watching the exam.
“Quite an interesting batch we have this year. Wouldn’t you say, Aizawa?” a short, white furred mammal asked aloud.
“they’re better than last year, at least.” a gruff man replied, moving some hair out of his face to get a better view.
“Oh definitely, the wide range of heroes in the making here is spectacular.” the furry creature replied. Pulling up screens to highlight certain examinees.
“There are those that can gather information and assess situations in a heartbeat,” he started, looking to a screen with a boy with six arms, the ends of which have eyes and ears attached to them. “Detectives and scouts.”
“Heroes that never show up late, first on any scene,” a leather-bound woman commented, gesturing to a scene of the blue haired boy with engines in his legs. “Mobility and transport heroes.”
“Those that can cope and respond to any situation,” a grey man with a cube head said, nodding to a screen with a ginger woman with giant hands. “Strategists and decision makers.”
The furred mammal brought up a screen with Bakugo Katsuki on it, blowing up all the faux villains in his area, “And natural born warriors, combat specialists and powerhouses.”
Looking slightly bored, the gruff man, Aizawa, looked over different screens, seeing Izuku on one “Then again, there are kids that run about like headless chickens.”
From the back of the room, Toshinori, in his deflated form, perked up seeing Izuku. He’d seen the boy attempt to take down robots, so felt defensive at the slight against his boy, but made sure to stay quiet. ‘ Come on, young Izuku, I know you can do it!’ he cheered on in his head.
“Well, I think they’ve had enough time for their fun, don’t you think?” the mammal called out. “I think it’s time for their real test. Power-Loader, would you like to do the honours?”
“Sure thing, boss,” a short man in an excavator outfit said, flipping a panel open and pressing a large (probably for dramatic effect) button.
Huffing, Izuku came to a stop. For the last few minutes, he’d been running around nonstop, hoping One For All would appear and help him. He had no clue how long was left in the exam, but surely there wasn’t long left. Izuku looked around, noticing he’d come back to the main street, so there were quite a few examinees around.
Everyone stopped, frozen, as the ground beneath them started to rumble. A couple people started asking what the cause was, when everyone heard a crash ringing from further in the city. Looking over, they all saw a goliath of a robot lurking towards them, towering over the buildings. It smashed a hand against the buildings to its side, causing rubble to fly towards the examinees.
“Everyone scram!” someone yelled, but Izuku couldn’t move. He was frozen, terrified at the sight of the giant machine approaching them. Once he managed to find his feet, he prepared to sprint away, until sound hit his ears.
“Ow!”
He turned back. Right in the path of the robot, underneath a mountain of rubble was the cute girl from earlier. She was stuck, and no one was coming to help her. No one except Izuku, who made a mad dash towards her. He realised that the robot would reach her before he could, and realised there was only a single solution.
If One For All really was a quirk destined to save, it had to appear now.
He crouched down, feeling fire in his legs, before shooting into the air, creating a sonic boom. At once he realised 2 things. He’d finally activated One For All, but more concerningly, the tips of his fingers had started sucking in the rubble and any dust wherever they pointed. Izuku figured he could investigate that at a later moment, as he was in a collision course with the top of the 0-Pointer. Clenching his fist, he put everything he had into his arm, and punched.
For a blink of an eye nothing happened, before the 0-Pointer's head evaporated, and the street behind it was hit with a shockwave destroying anything not connected to the ground.
Then, Izuku was falling.
One For All, the power of All-Might.
It’s so intense.
It took a second for Izuku to register that he was quickly approaching the ground. Izuku tried to figure out what to do, thinking that the power should also help him land safely. That’s when the pain registered, and he sees that his arm as well as both legs have been destroyed.
“Oooowwwwwww!” he screams. ‘ Oh gosh, oh no I'm gonna die! I'm an idiot, I was warned that I wouldn’t be able to handle it all. I saw that cute girl and got carried away. Now all of Toshi’s training will have been for nothing, I'm so sorry mu-’
He's stopped, both figuratively and literally, by a hand slapping him across his face.
“I got you!” It was the cute girl. His fingers sucking up the rubble must’ve loosened it enough so she could get out. He slowed down, reaching a stop just a couple feet from the ground. “Re... release,” she called, letting them both crash on the ground.
Izuku looked up. The girl was looking a little green, but otherwise ok. “Oh, thank gosh... I just wish I got a point. even one!” he called, using his good arm to drag himself towards her.
“ITS ALL OVER!!” present mic called out. Officially ending the exam.
“N... no,” Izuku breathed out, falling limp. Around him, the examinees from his site started gathering round.
“Dude, did you see his power?”
“Guy blew up the entire street!”
“Is he gonna be ok?”
“Why was he such a scaredy cat earlier?”
A voice broke through the crowd, “Out of the way, dearies, I've got a patient to look at.” the crowd split, letting a petite old woman walk through. As she looked about, she started handing out gummy sweets. “Here you go kids, you all did great.”
Walking over, she crouched above Izuku, looking over his injuries, “Oh dear, your own quirk causes this much damage? Let me help you.” bending down closer, she gave Izuku a kiss on the cheek. The surrounding crowd watched in curiosity as Izuku's bones set back into place, and his skin seemed to have healed before their eyes.
Blinking his eyes. Izuku slowly looked up as his healer. “Wh- wha...” he froze, seeing who it was that helped him. “Oh my god! You’re the youthful hero, recovery girl! You’re one of the most powerful healers in history!” he squealed out
“Well, you seem to be fine enough,” She observed, checking his legs. “And it's good to know I still have fans.” she smiled
Izuku watched, starstruck, as she walked away to heal others. Before the memories of his encounter with the Zero pointer came back to him. He needed to talk to All-Might
The train home felt too quiet. Maybe it was just the nerves talking. there were people around Izuku talking after all, but the sound just didn’t want to register in his ears. As soon as he was able to, Izuku had booked it from U.A, wanting to get home as soon as possible. He looked around, keeping track of the amount of people on the train. He knew it was probably just his anxiety, but he couldn’t help but think that everyone on that train was judging him, calling him a failure.
Ever since the exam, Izuku had been feeling weird. First there was his body feeling static. And ever since the practical his fingertips and lips had been feeling the same thing. Izuku was worried. What if this was the quirk rejecting him? What if his body was rejecting the quirk, and that’s why he broke himself earlier?
To try stop his mind from spiralling, he took out his phone again.
Midoriya : Toshi something happened, something went wrong.
Midoriya : I'm so sorry, I failed
Midoriya : But something happened with the quirk, it didn’t act like it was supposed to
Midoriya: Please get back to me soon, I'm scared
Izuku’s worrying was interrupted by someone bumping into him. At first, he was worried it was someone about to pick on him, but looking at who it was calmed his thoughts. He looked up, and saw that it was a very intoxicated man, clear from both the bottle in his hand and the stain on his lazily done tie. His business suit was
“S- sorry there, kid...” The man slurred out. Patting Izuku on the head before wobbling away.
“Bit early for being that drunk, schools' won't even be out yet.” Izuku thought aloud to no one. He was just glad the encounter kept his attention away from everything else. After a second, Izuku realised that his stop was coming up, so he quickly got his bag and started running home.
By the time he reached his floor. Izuku’s head started joining in with the buzzing that his lips and fingers were feeling. He opened the door, glad to see the sight of his mother. While Izuku had internalised his worries growing up by dissecting heroes, Inko had taken to eating when she was stressed. Over the years it had caused the woman to become slightly more plump. Thankfully instead of overweight, it just made her seem more motherly. Izuku found her sitting on the sofa watching some nature documentary.
“Oh, hi sweetie, how did it go?” she asked, looking over to him.
“Uh, I'm not too sure,” he replied, taking off his shoes and making his way to his room. “I’ve got a bit of a headache though, so I'm gonna lie down for a bit.”
“Oh, ok. I'm making Katsudon tonight, ill wake you when its ready!” she told him, giving him a nervous smile.
“Thanks mum, I love you.” he mumbled out, stepping into his room and letting his bag slump to the ground. The buzzing in his fingers, lips and head had only gotten worse, so he quickly changed into a comfortable t-shirt and shorts, before getting into bed. All around him were the eyes of his mentor, before he’d only seen the gazes as encouraging. Yet, now, after the exam it seemed to be a look of disappointment. Trying to block it out, Izuku closed his eyes, hoping to sleep until dinner.
Opening his eyes, Izuku was confused by a number of things. First off, the buzzing had lessened considerably. It wasn’t bad, but confusing all the same. Next, there was the situation of where he’d woken up. Looking around, Izuku decided that the room itself was decorated like Izuku's bedroom. However, it was decorated the way he’d often say he would style it if he were rich. There were obvious things, like his posters and hero memorabilia on shelves. But there were things that he’d never dreamt of being able to collect. He saw signed posters of heroes that didn’t have any merch, like the erasure hero: EraserHead and the high-speed hero: O’clock. He even had shelves and desks for hobbies he had no room for, like a miniature painting setup, and a full arcade machine. Stepping back, Izuku realised that the room he found himself in was at least double the size of his actual bedroom.
“Wh... even my notebooks are here?” Izuku questioned. On the middle shelf of the wall he was facing, was a shelf dedicated to his notebooks. He took one at random, opening it to a random page. He was thankful now that he’d memorised all his notebooks, because he knew that this was definitely his.
“I- I need to figure out what's going on,” he said to himself, putting the notebook back and leaving the room. Opening the door, he found a very fancy hallway, smooth off-white walls, turning into dark wooden designs half a metre from the floor. The floor was a deep red velvet carpet, and the walls were easily twice the size of All-Might, maybe more. Looking around, the hallway he was in looked spacious enough, and both ends led somewhere else. Choosing randomly, Izuku went left, walking to the end of the hallway and reaching a new room.
Walking through the entrance, Izuku gasped at the size of the new room. Izuku walked into what ended up being the second floor of a large spacious room. He was standing on a walkway that adorned three of the walls circling a giant chandelier, with a view of the bottom floor. The walls were off white, turning into the same dark wooden designs halfway to the floor of the first floor. The wall without a walkway seemed to extend further out on the bottom floor, with a large door that Izuku presumed to be the front entrance. The second-floor walkway separated into four identical hallways that, Izuku’s being the back left one from the door. On the wall furthest from the door, a large staircase made its way to the floor below, the carpeting of the second floor turning into a dark red rug on a wooden floor the same colour as the walls.
Pictures of different people adorned the walls, some of whom Izuku recognised. The easiest one for him to recognise was a picture of All-Might, people across his shoulders. An image Izuku knew well, as it was from his debut video, though it was an angle Izuku hadn't seen before. He could also recognise a picture of the Air-born hero: Maverick, made a shield wall to stop a building from collapsing on a family. The rest of the pictures were of people Izuku hadn't heard of before, or at least he couldn’t recognise them. There was one of a man, with a jacket reminiscent of best jeanist, who was walking out of a cloud of smoke. Next was a bulky, bald man, wearing a leather jacket that revealed his muscular torso. The man was using black tendrils to cling to buildings and stop rubble from falling. After that was a white-haired man, deep in a forest, breaking a giant boulder open with a punch. Beside it is a picture of a blue haired man with a bandana, shooting forward at an armoured soldier. The next picture is of a ginger man with an x shaped scar on his face, that looked kinda similar to kacchan. He was marching through a hallway, punching a bunch of suited men. The final picture was of a skinny, white-haired man. He had an angry expression, staring above eye level at something. Izuku couldn’t tell what though, as the other half of the picture was covered by a tarp.
Looking around at the pictures, Izuku slowly walked towards the staircase, trying to figure out what all this was about.
“Ah, so you’re what that presence was,” a voice smoothly stated. Izuku looked down, staring at the figure that spoke. At the bottom of the staircase, was the white-haired man from the final picture.
“Y- you're... who are you? Where am I!” Izuku yelled out, hoping for answers.
“Well ninth, there's a lot to explain.” the figure told him, gesturing for Izuku to walk down to him. Cautiously doing so, Izuku examined the man closely. The first thing he saw was that the man wasn’t just skinny, but unhealthily so. He wore a basic white T-shirt with a light blue long sleeved shirt on top, and worn-out jeans.
“S- so, who are you!” Izuku asked again as he reached the bottom of the stairs.
“I... my name was Yoichi, but for a long time I've just been called the first.” he told Izuku.
“Th- the first?” Izuku asked. Just then, pieces started coming together. “W- wait, as in the first user of...” he looked behind him, re-examining the giant portraits. It was then that Izuku finally noticed a final one, in the centre of the back wall. It was a picture of Izuku, from earlier that day. It was the moment that he destroyed the 0-Pointer, showing off the power that Izuku held at his fingertips.
“Thats right, the first user of One For All.”
