Jason couldn't say that his first life was perfect.
A drunk and abusive father who went and died in prison, drug addicted mother who died in his arms, grew up in possibly the worst place in Gotham City, was homeless at nine, became Robin just fail to live up to the legacy, got stuck in the crossfire between Batman and the first robin
Oh and he died in a warehouse at the ripe age of 15 at the hands of a lunatic clown
So yeah not exactly great
Jason doesn't know or remember exactly how he came back to life, but he does remember waking up in a coffin and having to dig his way out of his own grave in the pouring rain, with nothing but his hands and the buckle of the belt he was wearing with the suit he was buried in
Dirt trying to suffocate him, nails and fingers bloody and broken, screaming for father, anyone that could hear him
After escaping his early grave, he remembers walking for a bit before the worlds around him went black again
Somehow Talia al Ghul found him wandering the streets in a catatonic state and brought Jason to the League of Assassins
Jason spent three years in a catatonic state as the emotionless shell of the boy he once was, training under Ra’s al Ghul's watchful eye
at First Ra's thought that his daughter was wasting efforts and resources on the boy
However, being an emotionless shell made Jason an excellent killer, being able to kill his training partners and instructors with ease
Talia grew fond of the boy, at first Talia kept the boy at an arm's distance knowing that one day she would have to give Jason back to Gotham, back to her beloved
But as the weeks turned to months turned to Talia began to see the boy as her own, Damian loved the older boy, and even Ra’s started to soften toward Jason
Three years after Jason came to them, Ra’s agreed to let Talia try to restore Jason's mind with the Lazurus pit
Talia lowered her boy into the glowing liquid and for a moment she thought all hope was lost
Until the broken fragments of Jason's mind snapped back together like a broken puzzle and Jason pulled himself out of the pit with an ear-piercing scream, blue eyes transform into glowing emeralds
Jason Todd may have died.
But Jason Al Ghul had just been born.
