Chapter Text
Kuina wakes up to a girl looming over him.
Startled he screams and jolts up, their heads slamming together with a solid thunk. Dazed he falls back onto the soft futon underneath, plus one headache.
"Ouch. That hurrt."
He cast a glance at the girl who was holding her head in her hands with tears in her eyes. She looks a good few years older than him, if he were to guess she'd probably be around 15. They're both in a rather beautiful room he notices through a throbbing head, with wooden walls and very little furniture to decorate besides pieces of beautiful art and a few plants.
The door to their room slides open and a man walks in with silver hair, it's long and tied up in a ponytail. There's something about him that looks a bit on edge beyond the smile that graces his features. But Kuina is confused enough that he really can't put in the effort to figure the stranger out. The girl seems to know him though because she's up on her feet to welcome him.
"Kyoshiro! He's awake!"
The tall man hushes her. "I can see that Komurasaki."
"I'm glad to see you're okay." Kyoshiro says as he sits down in front of Kuina. "What's your name?"
"Kuina."
He nods. "Nice to meet you, can you tell me where they found you?"
Kuina blinks."They?"
"The slavers, my group and I found you in the hands of a group of slavers that were illegally bringing children into the land of Wano."
Kuina stares at the other man and tries to see if he's being lied to. "I don't remember."
Kyoshiro is far more experienced with controlling his emotions and only stares at him with a blank face. "You don't remember anything?"
He tries not to gulp at the tone that sounds a bit disbelieving of his story. "I promise. I don't remember anything."
And he doesn't. The only thing that is in his memories is waking up in the room with Komurasaki staring at him. There's a big empty space that seems like it needs to be filled, but Kuina wouldn't even be able to begin to know what to fill it with. Kyoshiro only nods when he says as such, but doesn't push any further.
The realization that he is missing his memory sends a jolt of anxiety through him and he clenches his hands in the blankets.
"Can he stay here Kyoshiro? He's pretty enough, he would fit right in!" Komurasaki chirps and they both look at her.
Kyoshiro hums thoughtfully. "I don't know Komurasaki, this situation we're in is already dangerous as it is. Bringing in a stranger to the mix would make it harder for the both of us."
Kuina bites his lip to stop him from snapping at the older man. It wasn't like he wanted to be here. Wherever that was. But the alternative is more than likely being thrown out on the streets in a strange land with only his name and that is far more scary.
Komurasaki's eyes grow huge. "Please? You could train him to be my personal guard!"
Kuina gapes at her. "Huh?"
She smiles and points at his body. "You look like you've trained with a sword! I can tell! Kyoshiro is a really strong samurai don't worry!"
He looks down at his body to try and see what she was talking about. All he sees is skin, and a bit of muscle under the clothing he has on.
Kyoshiro sends him a look that looks him over with a bit more openminded curiosity. He seems to agree with Komurasaki's observations because he nods. "You're right, good eye Komurasaki."
From the looks of the big sword that Kyoshiro has at his side Kuina doubts that a child his size would be much help. Especially since he doesn't remember said training if Komurasaki's assumption was right. Considering the two seemed to be in 'dangerous' situation he isn't certain which would be the better option. Being thrown out on the streets in a strange place, or potentially getting beheaded by a sword wielding man.
The two people before him seem to be well off considering that their skin is healthy and the clothes they both wear are rather beautiful. If he had a choice he would stay with them, since it was obvious he had no idea where he even was in the first place.
"Well would you like to stay here?"
He isn't offered to be trained, but Kuina has the feeling that Kyoshiro isn't very trusting. Even though Komurasaki seems to be willing to let Kuina be her guard, that isn't the case for the other man. But there is very little for Kuina to be offended by, since staying with the two before him was probably the better options. If there were slavers running around, he would rather stay with the people who saved him.
Kuina sighs. "I guess I don't really have a choice. Sure."
Komurasaki laughs and suddenly he's being hugged by an enthusiastic teenager. "I'm so happy!"
Hesitantly he pats her back and hopes that he made the right decision.
