Chapter Text

Jon went to bed, and drifted off to sleep.

He wakes up sitting in an auditorium seat, Looking to his left, He sees a large man with ginger hair and round glasses. To his right, A black woman with paper white hair. Just as he looks back at the stage, There is a haggard man with odd glasses. The man scans the crowd before saying "A full crowd tonight!" Jon cannot move. The lights darken, A droning tune begins.

"Get your fuckin' hands up, Get on out of your seats. All eyes on me, All eyes on me." The performer repeats this once more, No-one in the crowd being able to follow the commands even if they wanted to. The performer looks directly at Jon, and sings.

"Are you feeling nervous?" Yes. "Are you having fun?" No. "It's almost over, It's just begun." What? "Don't overthink this, Look in my eye." Jon cannot stop thinking, But he stares into the man's eyes. The performer starts to sing faster. "Don't be scared, Don't be shy." Jon is afraid. "Come on in, The water's fine." What water??

"We're going to go where everybody knows," An image of a large imposing building appears on the wall. "Everybody knows, everybody, oh." The performer repeats once more, And the chorus begins anew. People cheer. "Heads down, pray for me. Heads down now, pray for me!" Jon has no desire to.

The singing stops, The haggard performer sits down on a chair that was not there before. "You wanna hear a funny story?" He asks. "So, uh, five years ago, I quit performing live comedy. Because I was beginning to have, uh, severe panic attacks while on stage." Jon wonders why the performer is saying this. "Which is not a great place to have them!" A hollow laughter rings out. "So I, I quit, and I didn't perform for five years, And I spent that time trying to improve myself mentally!" The man does not look like he improved. "And you know what? I did! I got better!" Again, he does not look better. "I got so much better, in fact, that in January of… 2020, I thought, 'You know what? I should start performing again. I've been hiding from the world and I need to re-enter'" Jon notices the odd date, Last he recalls, It was only March of 2016. "And then, the funniest thing happened!" He does not elaborate.

The performer gets up, And repeats the chorus, Getting increasingly angrier. The performer yells. "YOU SAY THE OCEAN'S RISING, LIKE I GIVE A SHIT!" Jon starts to shiver. "YOU SAY THE WHOLE WORLD'S ENDING, HONEY, IT ALREADY DID!" As he mutters those last words, His voice deepens. "YOU'RE NOT GONNA SLOW IT, HEAVEN KNOWS YOU TRIED!" Jon is scared. So so scared. "GOT IT? GOOD, NOW GET INSIDE." Jon begins to cry silently.

The performer calms down, and repeats the chorus once more. He becomes angry once more, looking directly at jon. "Get up, get up! I'm talkin' to you, GET THE FUCK UP!" The performer lunges at Jon, Picks him up, and begins to dance a tango. He repeats the chorus. "All eyes on me, All eyes on me!" Jon cannot take it any longer, Mustering up all his courage, Jon headbutts the performer.

Jon wakes up in a cold sweat.
