"Do you want to be the big spoon or little spoon?" Kaveh asked as he tucked his legs into Alhaitham's — or, well maybe now their blanket.
It hasn't been long since the two finally started dating. All it took was overworked Alhaitham and a drunk Kaveh for them to show their love to each other in more ways than one. Things got messy afterwards, but they eventually figured it out and established a relationship.
They were awkward at first. As if they were teenagers in their first relationship, nervous about every little touch. It was almost unbelievable to Kaveh; more than 10 years of knowing each other and crushing on Alhaitham, he can finally kiss him and hold him close. Just thinking about it makes him feel all giddy inside.
"What does that mean and why are spoons involved?" The gray haired man said with a confused frown etched onto his eyebrows. He had been leaning on their headboard and reading a book about Liyue architecture, as if trying to appeal to his partner.
Kaveh froze at Alhaitham's words, his eyes wide and one of his eyebrows lifted.
"What do you mean 'What does that mean?' Do you seriously—" The blonde suddenly trailed off as he saw the genuine confusion on the scribe's face.
Has Alhaitham never cuddled with anyone before??
"Okay, look–" Kaveh started, sitting on his heels.
Alhaitham put his book aside with an exasperated sigh, already knowing that he won't be able to focus on the text any longer.
"–it's basically just cuddling. Like– a big spoon is the person who holds, and the little spoon is the person that gets held. You know? Like, if you want to be the big spoon then you would hold me and vice versa." The architect explained, looking at Alhaitham with an expectant look as if waiting for his approval.
After a few moments of processing, Alhaitham licked his lips, "Why are spoons involved though?" he asked again.
Kaveh sighed, clasping his hands together and pressing them against his nose. "Lord Kusanali give me strength." He whispered, loud enough for Alhaitham to hear. And even though he couldn't see the other man, he knew that the scribe rolled his eyes at Kaveh's theatrics.
"I'll show you," Kaveh added, shifting closer to his partner. "lay down on your side, facing away from me."
Surprisingly, Alhaitham did as he was told, albeit with a suspicious look on his face. He laid down on his side and pulled the blanket over his shoulder.
As soon as he was settled, Kaveh laid down next to him and wrapped his arms around Alhaitham's waist, pulling him against his chest and nuzzling into the nape of his neck.
He would be lying if he said that having Alhaitham so close and holding him like this didn't make him flustered.
"I'm the big spoon now," Kaveh said in a hushed tone, his cheeks tingling. He could smell the faint fragrance of Alhaitham's shampoo and cologne, and that did not help with the current situation. He felt so happy holding Alhaitham like this that he just wanted to roll around the bed and kick his legs while blushing like an idiot.
But of course he didn't. Alhaitham would probably kick him out if he did that. He felt like some teenager who couldn't keep his hormones in check.
"Oh." The gray haired man said simply, tucking his arms underneath his pillow.
"So I'm the little spoon?"
"Correct."
"I still don't understand why is it that spoons had–"
"Alhaitham, for god's sake, just sleep."
"Alright."
"Goodnight."
"...Goodnight."
fin.
