Work Text:
Four teenage girls had gathered in the basement of one of their houses, lit only by a single candle. They were all dressed in their pajamas, and there was an air of anticipation and excitement as they began their ritual.
The girls start chanting in an ancient language when the bravest of the girls steps forward and speaks in a clear voice. "We summon you from the darkest pit of hell to fulfill our wishes and desires."
The girls all hold their breath as the candle flickers, and the air seems to thicken. Then suddenly, a dark fog goes around the room, and a demonic figure appears cloaked in a dark robe, standing tall and imposing.
"Demon," one of them whispers, barely audible over the sound of their own breathing. "We have summoned you."
The girls all stand in the circle, looking up at them with awe and curiosity. They seem to be expecting something, but it is unclear what. The girls are all very quiet, and it takes a few moments before any of them speak.
The demon looks at the girl who spoke, waiting for her to continue. After a few moments of silence, she finally speaks again.
“We have summoned you… to help us.”
The other girls all nod, silently agreeing with her. The girl takes a deep breath before continuing.
“We need you to help us with something… really important. Something we can’t do alone. Will you help us?”
"It truly depends, what are you willing to give up." The demon finally speaks, looking at all of them individually.
The girls all look at each other, suddenly uncertain. They hadn't thought about what they might have to give up. The girl who spoke before swallows, her face serious.
"Our names are Jasmine, Mary, Rachel, and Sarah, and we'll do anything to get our wish," the girl named Jasmine claims boldly, her eyes locked onto the demon.
The girls all look at each other, then at you. They seem to be discussing the matter amongst themselves. Finally, the girl who spoke before steps forward again. "We want to be popular," she says.
"We know it sounds shallow," she continues. "But we just want people to notice us, you know? We want to be the coolest girls in school. We want to be the ones everyone wants to be like. If you could help us with that, we'd do anything."
"You humans summoned me because you want to be popular? You could wish for anything, and you chose popularity. Well at least I can tell none of you are going to be lawyers." The demon looked at them in disappointment.
The girls all shift uncomfortably, seeming a bit embarrassed by the demons response. Maybe they hadn't thought this through as well as they thought. Though the demon couldn't help but admire their honesty, though - they certainly didn't seem afraid to speak their minds!
They all look at each other again, trying to think of something to say. Eventually, one of them speaks up. "Yes, we want popularity."
"But we want other things too," she continues. "We want to have fun. We want to have boys falling all over us. We want to be the center of attention."
"Then youare all idiots. I could twist your words in any way I want. I could literally make boy's fall over you. Try again." The demon says, trying to be nice.
The girls all stare at it for a moment, a bit taken aback by its response. The other girl named Sarah then spoke before swallowing, seeming a bit afraid of it now.
"Well" she says nervously, "I guess... we want... for our problems to go away."
She looks around at the other girls, who seem to be agreeing with her again. They all nod a little nervously, but they are still determined.
"We want our lives to be better," she says. "We want to be happy."
The demon looks at them in curiosity. "That will be hard." It says. "Since your already happy with your lives."
The girls all seem a bit shocked by their response. It's right - they're actually quite content with their lives, and it would be difficult to make them any happier without completely changing everything about them.
They all exchange nervous looks, not sure what to say next. Eventually, the girl named Mary spoke in a quiet tone of voice.
"Well, we do have one more wish," she says. "It's a little embarrassing, but it's something that we all really want. Can you help us with that too?"
"Of course." The demon replied. "What type of demon would I be if I couldn't even seal a deal, no matter how small it is."
The girls all seem relieved to hear that it's willing to help them with everything they need. They all look at it, their eyes filled with hope and expectation.
One of them finally speaks up again, her voice trembling a little with nervousness.
"Well, we... we want to be beautiful."
"Really, that's it?" The demon replies in disbelief. "Have any of you even looked in a mirror? You all have risen above the humans beauty standard, and the best part is that your not fake."
The girls all turn red, clearly embarrassed but also flattered by its compliments. They all look at each other for a moment, unsure what to say, but it seems like they're enjoying the attention.
"Aw, thanks." Sarah says shyly, her voice trembling a bit. "But we just feel like there's something missing, you know? People still pay more attention to the popular girls. We just wish we had a little extra something."
"Most groups that humans classify as the 'mean girls', are only truly popular from a Guardians money and their ability to be cruel to others they deem below their petty standards." The demon says, cringing in disgust just thinking about the 'mean girls'.
The girls all seem to agree with the demons statement. They all nod a little bit, clearly feeling frustrated and upset.
“Yeah, they’re mean, and they don’t care about anyone else but themselves,” the one named Rachel exclaims.
“They think they’re better than everyone else, but they’re not - they’re just bitchy and rude,” another says.
“We wish they’d stop picking on us all the time,” the last one says with a sigh.
"Oh, so that is what you wish for." The demon says, in a cruel and threatening tone.
The girls all look at them with surprise, and a bit of fear as well. It seems like they understand the girls perfectly, but their tone is a frightening.
They all hesitate before saying anything, a bit intimidated by them. One of them finally speaks up again. “Well, yes,” she says nervously. “We want the popular girls to stop picking on us. That’s what we want.”
The other girls all nod in agreement. They seem a bit nervous and uneasy, but they’re still determined to make their wish come true.
"Now that, I can do." The demon says, ready to discuss the semantics of the contract.
The girls all look at the demon again, seeming quite nervous now. They clearly don't know what to expect.
"What's the price?" one of them asks, her voice trembling a little.
"We'll pay anything," another says quickly, trying to reassure them. "We just want the popular girls to stop picking on us."
They all look at thedemon, waiting for an answer.
"What I want for a price is~" The demon says in suspense. "Is a home cooked lasagna.
The girls all seem quite shocked by their anticlimactic request. They clearly weren't expecting something so simple! It's just lasagna, right? It should be easy enough for them to do, and then they get their wish - they should do it without complaining.
"And that's all you want?" Sarah asks the demon hesitantly. Her voice is trembling a bit, but she seems determined to make it happen. "You want us to cook dinner for you?"
"Correct." The demon says. "They do not have good food in hell. The most flavor we get is from the different sins of a person's soul. So what I wish to eat is lasagna. I haven't had it in three centuries."
The girls are all silent for a moment, looking at the demon with excitement and relief. They're going to get their wish, and they just need to make it dinner in return! It's a simple enough price to pay, and they're all willing to do it.
"Alright," one of them says nervously, her voice trembling a bit. "We can do that." They all nod in agreement, determined to make it the best lasagna ever!
"Alright then, I'll come back in three days, and on the third day I'll be ready for dinner at seven o'clock. That'll give you enough time." It exclaims in excitement, hungry for mortal food.
The girls all seem to agree, their faces filled with a mix of excitement and relief. They're going to get their wish, and all they have to do in exchange is make the demon some dinner. They're going to make the best dinner ever, and it's going to be so happy that they made this wish!
"Sounds great!" one of them says cheerily. "We'll make you the best lasagna ever, right here."
They all grin widely, clearly excited by this turn of events.
"That sounds amazing." The demon happily exclaims. "Now I'll be back in three days for the lasagna. Hope to see you soon!" The demon finally says, disappearing in a puff of smoke.
It disappears in a puff of smoke, leaving the girls all excited and relieved. They had almost gotten nervous about what your price was going to be, but it had turned out to be something that they could easily agree to. Now they just had to make it the best lasagna ever, and in exchange their part of the deal would come true!
They all grin widely, looking at each other excitedly and making plans for the perfect dish.
It's been three days since the demon disappeared, so now it returns like it promised. The girls have been making plans and preparing everything for it in the meantime - they're going to make the best dish ever! They're all so excited, and they're all talking a mile a minute, finishing setting the table.
But they're quiet when the demon arrives, all of their chatter going silent. They're all waiting, looking at it with anticipation.
The demon arrives dressed casually, now revealing its appearance to the girls for the first time. Some of them gasp in surprise, their eyes wide with awe. They have a bit of a hard time believing that they've actually summoned a real demon. But they're also quite excited to see it, and they all look at them with curiosity and intrigue.
"Now, let's get this dinner started." The demon declared, clapping it's hands once.
The girls all hurry to the kitchen, taking out the wine from the fridge, and the steaming hot lasagna from the oven. They take the dish and set it on the table, cutting off a slice and pouring the wine into a crystal glass.
The demon takes a bite of lasagna, and it's so truly amazing that the demons fork drops from its hand and clatters on the table. It's absolutely delicious - the best lasagna it's ever had in thousands of years!
The four girls hold their breath, not knowing what going on, until the demon picks up the silverware again and cleans the entire plate of its food.
The girls all smile and sigh with relief, their shoulders relaxing a bit. They're so glad that it likes the lasagna - they worked so hard on it, and they want it to enjoy their dish! And they clearly do, because they're eating it up like there's no tomorrow.
"I'm so glad you like it!" the bold girl - Jasmine - says cheeringly. She seems a bit nervous, but also excited that the demons enjoying the food. "We made it just for you!"
"Well I do have to say, this is the best food from the living realm I've ever eaten. Now come on, don't be shy and grab a slice."
The girls all smile as the demon grabs another slice of lasagna for itself. They're all clearly very proud of their cooking, and now they want to try it and see how great it is!
Jasmine grabs a slice for herself, taking a big bite and enjoying the taste. She gives the other girls a thumbs up, clearly liking the flavor. The other girls all grab a slice for themselves as well, savoring the taste in their mouths.
They all seem to be enjoying the lasagna as much as the demon is, clearly liking the taste and the texture. They're all smiling broadly.
"You know what girls, I'll give you your wish and a extra surprise because this was the best food I've ever eaten." The demon says, despite itself.
The girls all seem surprised by this turn of events, but they're quickly overtaken by excitement. They're all grinning widely, clearly delighted that it's going to grant their wish!
They all look at the demon expectantly, eager to find out what their wish is and what the extra surprise will be. They're all filled with hope and expectation, ready for anything it can offer them.
"There." The demon says, handing four golden debit cards to them. "Each of these cards contain five million dollars. Now the card only works for you. It's indestructible and will always appear near you."
The girls all look at the golden credit card in their hands, their eyes wide with surprise and disbelief. They can't believe their eyes - the demon just gave them each five million dollars!!!
They all seem shocked and amazed, clearly overwhelmed by the generosity. The million dollars is more than they could have dreamed. The quiet girl - Mary - speaks up first.
"This is... wow. This is unbelievable! We..." She trails off, clearly struggling for words. "We don't even know how to thank you."
"All you can do for me is pack up the remaining lasagna to go."
The girls all laugh at its request, thinking it's funny and fitting. They're all in a really good mood after what the demon has done for them, and they're all just happy to be here.
They all look at it, and then at the lasagna, and then back at you with big, cheerful smiles. "Oh, sure thing!" one of them says. "We can pack you up the lasagna to take with you."
They all quickly start collecting the leftovers, packing some lasagna in a to-go box. It's the least they can do after what it's done for them.
The demon takes the lasagna, pumping its fist in the air. It takes the rest of the food and give the girls a big smile and a thumbs up in response. It looks like they've satisfied their obligation, and it's ready to leave and make good on their promise.
"Now I don't want to see you girls in the afterlife for a long time." The demon adds, finally waving goodbye.
The girls all smile and wave back, their eyes filled with gratitude and happiness. They're so glad that they got their wish, and they're thrilled that it's leaving with a tasty treat! It's been a great day, and they're all in a wonderful mood.
The demon leaves in a puff of smoke. A smile on its face and a belly full of lasagna.
