Chapter Text
This is too easy, boys. I don’t like when missions are too easy.” Natasha had just cleared an entire hallway of rooms and they still hadn’t found what they were looking for.
“Nervous, Widow?” Tony mocked.
“Cautious. And I’m right there with her,” Clint chimed in.
“Focus up. We know the file is in here. Fury says the unique encryption allows only the original to ping accurately.”
“Cap, do you even know what the words you just said mean?” Tony asked.
“Stick to the plan.”
“Clint, I’m headed to our meeting point. Three minutes.” Natasha switched off her earpiece so she couldn’t hear Tony and Steve bickering.
Just as she rounded the corner of the hallway to the rendezvous point a bullet tore through the wall, wedging itself just above Natasha’s right hip. If it wasn’t for the fact that it was in her, she wouldn’t have even known a shot was fired. The bullet was silent. She dropped flat to the ground, half in pain and half to prevent further injury. Rolling to her back she drew two guns and scanned the room for an attacker. She crawled to the nearest cleared room and shut the door. She switched her comms back on. “I’m hit. Lower abdominal. Gonna need some help getting out of here. I’m down the hall from the rendezvous point.”
“Natasha, there weren’t any shots fired this isn’t funny.” Steve reprimanded.
“If she’s asking for help, it’s bad Steve. I’m on my way.” Clint said hurriedly.
“Si- uh.” She was starting to feel dizzy. Surely she hasn’t lost that much blood already, the bullet was helping stop that. “The, uh, the bullet.”
“What about the bullet?” Tony asked. She didn’t answer, it was so hard to stay awake. Why was it so hard? She’d been shot before, why was she so dizzy?
“Black Widow, do you copy?” Steve asked forcefully, hoping she would focus.
“Copy,” she muttered.
“What were you going to tell us about the bullet?” Tony prompted again.
“Nat, come on, it can’t help you if I’m walking into a trap.”
“Silent.” It was hard to keep her eyes open. “Silent bullet.” She went unconscious.
