In the Pages of Knowledge

Summary:

In the bustling Hogwarts library, Viktor Krum musters up the courage to ask Hermione Granger to be his date for the Yule Ball.

Notes:

I wrote this fluffy one-shot because I haven't come across much Hermione/Krum fanfiction, so I thought I'd write my own.

Work Text:

Viktor Krum stood in the bustling Hogwarts library, scanning the rows of shelves filled with books. He knew that Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of their age, would most likely be found in this sanctuary of knowledge. With a determined look on his face, he made his way through the maze of books, searching for her familiar bushy hair.

Finally, he spotted her sitting at a secluded table, engrossed in a thick volume. Her brows were furrowed in concentration, and her lips moved silently as she absorbed the information on the page. Taking a moment to admire her intellectual prowess, he mustered up his courage and approached her.

"Hermione," Viktor called softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Hermione looked up, her eyes widening in surprise. "Viktor! What are you doing here?" she asked, setting her book aside.

"I... I wanted to ask you something," Viktor replied, his nerves getting the better of him.

Hermione tilted her head, curiosity shining in her eyes. "Go on, then. What is it?"

Taking a deep breath, Viktor straightened his posture. "Hermione, the Yule Ball is coming up, and I... I was wondering if you would do me the honor of being my date?"

A mix of surprise and delight played on Hermione's face. Her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink, and a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Viktor, I would love to go to the Yule Ball with you," she said, her voice filled with warmth.

Relief washed over Viktor, and he returned her smile. "Truly? That is wonderful news!" he exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.

Hermione chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm glad you think so. I'm looking forward to it, Viktor."

Viktor's heart soared at her words. He had imagined this moment countless times, but the reality of Hermione saying yes surpassed all his expectations. "As am I, Hermione. Thank you for accepting my invitation."

The library seemed to fade away as they chatted about their plans for the Yule Ball, their conversation filled with anticipation and a newfound connection. They discussed the dance, shared anecdotes about their respective schools, and even exchanged book recommendations. Viktor found himself enthralled by Hermione's intellect, her passion inspired him.

As they bid each other farewell, promising to meet again soon to discuss further details, Viktor left the library with a renewed sense of excitement. The prospect of spending an evening with Hermione, exploring the magical wonders of the Yule Ball together, felt like a dream come true.

Meanwhile, Hermione sat back in her chair, a contented smile playing on her lips. She couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in her chest.

The Yule Ball now held a promise of enchantment beyond the magical dances and beautiful gowns. It held the promise of a connection, a bond that could be nurtured between two kindred spirits in the embrace of the swirling melodies and sparkling lights.

As they prepared for the Yule Ball, Viktor and Hermione knew that their journey was just beginning, and the library would forever hold a special place in their hearts as the starting point.
