More than enough

Summary:

They just love each other, that's all.

Notes:

This is a drabble. A drabble? Short story? I have no idea :)
I'm not sure if this belongs to any episode at all, but I will, for the sake of the story, add it to my collection. Thank you for reading, I know its short. I'm sick, please bear with me

Work Text:

“I thought you had gone home” Cormoran speaks as he’s laying down on the leather couch.

Robin is at the door, hanging her coat when she hears him speak. She smiles to herself when she turns around and notices his eyes are still closed, yet he knows perfectly well where she’s standing. Despite Robin trying to be as quiet as possible. He had, at least what he always said, a six sense when it came to her.

“Its too early to go home,” Robin says as she walks towards him. She sits on the couch, besides him, and he moves away to give her room. Her hand reaches his face, caressing his bearded cheek, and he leans in, sighing at her touch. “You’re so cold. For how long have you been here?”

“I don’t know. An hour, maybe? I always lose track of time when you’re not here” Cormoran says. He’s staring at her now, and his eyes sparkle in the partially illuminated room. She smiles at his words, so sincere and so full of emotion Robin can barely contain her joy.

“Let’s go to bed, then. I don’t want you to catch a cold on my behalf,” Robin suggests. Cormoran doesn’t say a word, he only gets up when she holds his hand but stops before they could move any further.

“I love you” Cormoran simply says.

The words were so simple but yet so very important. It’s not the first time he had said it, and yet Robin is still teary-eyed when he speaks, because sometimes she can’t believe how far they’ve gotten.

Robin stands on her toes, the height difference making it impossible for her to do otherwise, until she’s closer to his lips. Cormoran leans in for a kiss and Robin wraps her arms around his shoulder, while his hands travel to the small of her back, pulling her as close as she can, so there was absolutely no space between them. When they finally pull away, she’s grinning and the happiness that fills his heart is so intense sometimes he thinks he’s in a dream.

“I love you too,” Robin replies.

Now it’s his turn to smile. There’s nothing else to be said, nothing more to be done. The world could crumble at their feet and neither of them would care, for they had each other, and that was more than enough.
