Work Text:
Sky winces as Rain is once again thrown over P’Pai’s shoulder. The smaller man hits the mat with a thwack then immediately bounces up with a grin ready to go again. Rain is actually extremely good but P’Pai’s fighting skills are beyond comparison and he holds nothing back when training. This is probably good because the enemies Rain will encounter will be some of the most ruthless and highly trained fighters in the world.
“Rain,” Sky calls, “We are due at the briefing in half an hour you should probably get ready.”
Rain gives him a sarcastic “aye, aye, captain” salute and heads off to take a shower. P’Pai comes over to Sky and throws an arm around his shoulder.
“Rain’s improving expeditiously don’t you think?” P’Pai asks.
Sky pretends to be repulsed by his boyfriend’s sweaty embrace while secretly thinking he looks extremely sexy like this. “Rain doesn’t give up easily, that's why I recruited him.”
Rain concentrates on the two files in front of him. The first dossier in the file is of a brother and sister Som and Ple. They are world renowned computer scientists who are rumored to be working on a revolutionary new type of virtual reality. Every organization in the world is salivating to get their hands on it first. Rain reads through then flips to the next dossier. His mouth drops open. The pictures included are several clandestine shots of one of the most handsome men Rain has ever seen in his life.
“Get it together, Rain” he tells himself, “this man works for the enemy.” To be honest their two organizations are more like rivals than actual enemies, each always trying to be the first to acquire any new technology.
Rain picks up the documents and reads out loud , “Phayu, code name storm, age 24, recruited along with his twin brother Saifah while still in high school. Parents live in Korat, Handler: Pakin, trainer: Chai.” Rain looks around the table expectantly.
“Rain you will be attending a reception given in the honor of Ple and Som’s pending announcement that they have successfully completed the world’s first 3-D completely immersive virtual reality experience. This technology will prove revolutionary to training new recruits and we must be the first to acquire it.” Sky says then reaches over to pick up one of the pictures of Phayu. “Your job is to be a distraction. We need you to keep Phayu out of pocket long enough for our team to move in and get the technology.”
“Oh, how do I do that?” Rain asks frowning.
“Seduce him.” Sky says bluntly.
Rain looks back at the picture and gulps.
One perk of the job is Rain has his own personal top of the line stylist, Por, and hair artist, as he prefers to be called, Sig.
The look, the visual, they put together for the ball is beyond stunning. Trim black pants cinched to accentuate Rain’s small waist. A crop black jacket closed over a tight fitting mesh shirt. Most stunning of all is the hair, ash gray with a braided pattern down one side. The effect is amazing. Rain makes a mental note to recommend both Sig and Por for a raise.
Sky checks over the effect and nod’s approval. “Rain, you know that no one is suggesting you actually have to sleep with the man right? Just hold his interest long enough for our team to do their work.”
“Unless you want to sleep with him,” P’Pai smirks.
Rain glares at him, “Why are you even here?” Sky is here to go over any last minute details and make sure Rain is good to go. This will be his first operation on his own and as his handler, Sky is as nervous as Rain, if not more so. Rain knows the answer though, wherever Sky goes, P’Pai follows.
P’Pai just grins and wraps an arm around Sky’s waist, causing both Sky and Rain to roll their eyes.
Rain decides to ignore him, letting Sky deal with him later. “Anything else I should know about this Phayu? Things that weren’t in the file?”
Sky looks at the tablet in his hand, “He likes cars and even more so motorcycles, especially big bikes. He and his brother run a garage as a front, but he also seems to treat it as a hobby. He and Saifah share a house inherited from their parents when they moved.”
“Okay,” Rain says, “now what about some personal details that will help me with the mission.” P’Pai snorts at this earning him a glare from Sky.
“He is a private person and keeps to himself for the most part. He is openly Bisexual, but he has only had two long term relationships that we know of. One while he was still in high school with a female student that lasted four months and one with a male racer who brought his bike to the garage, that one only lasted two months. He mostly stays away from hookup culture although occasionally goes home with someone he meets in a club or bar.” Sky hesitates before continuing, “The rest of what we have is based purely on hearsay. The rumors are basically that he has some slightly unusual tastes and he likes his lovers to be polite.”
Rain turns slightly pink at this. Now he knows why he was chosen for this job but it was a little embarrassing to know his own file contains such personal information.
The hotel the reception is being held at is one of the most luxurious in all of Thailand. Rain looks around in wonder, he has been trained to blend in to all environments but that doesn’t stop him from feeling a little out of his depth.
Rain spots his target sitting at the bar but feels like it will be less suspicious to get Phayu to approach him rather than the other way around. He just needs a way to get the man’s attention. This type of party has to have at least a few over entitled assholes that think their money can buy anything.
Rain sits alone at the opposite end of the bar and waits. He doesn’t have to wait long. An obviously drunk man who has to be at least 40 approaches Rain and offers to buy him a drink. He lays a hand across Rain’s back. Perfect Rain thinks.
“Sorry, sir.” Rain says demurely, “I’m not interested.”
“Oh, come on, don’t be like that.” The man slurs. Two strikes against the man, he is handsy and doesn’t take no for an answer. Rain might have felt bad if this guy had been a little less of a scumbag.
“I said no thank you, please leave me alone.” Rain said a little more loudly.
The man leans down to whisper, “Come on, a pretty piece of ass like you? What do you want, money? I can give you everything you need.” Strike three, Rain definitely does not feel bad for using this guy.
Before Rain can tell the guy to leave a third time, the man is jerked back. “He said he’s not interested,” Phayu says, bingo mission accomplished. Rain wonders why he doesn’t feel more triumphant that his plan worked.
“Who are you, his boyfriend or something?” The man asks, grabbing a handful of Phayu’s jacket.
Phayu does a quick move that twists the man’s hand back and causes the man to give a cry of pain. “It doesn’t matter who I am, this boy is off limits. Got it?” The man nods, tearing up a little and rubbing his wrist.
“Thank you, sir,” Rain says, giving Phayu a polite wai.
“Call me P’Phayu, and you are?” Phayu gives Rain an appraising look that gives Rain a delightful shiver.
“Nice to meet you, P’Phayu. My name is Rain.” Rain says with another wai. He hopes he isn’t overdoing the politeness.
“Rain, do you mind if I sit here?” Rain shakes his head and motions to the seat next to him.
“What are you drinking? I’ll buy you something for helping get rid of that guy,” Rain says.
“Whiskey is fine,” P’Phayu says and Rain orders a whiskey and another soda for himself.
“So what brings you here to this grand party?” P’Phayu asks him with a smile.
“Business, believe it or not.” Rain says, sipping his soda. Considering it’s in his job description, Rain is shockingly bad at lying. He finds half truths to be easier. Rain waits for the inevitable follow up question of ‘what business?’ but it doesn’t come. P’Phayu just nods as if that were the answer he was expecting.
“So, Rain, how long are you supposed to keep me distracted for?” P’Phayu asks so casually that for a minute Rain doesn’t realize the implications of what he said. When he does he stands up quickly but feels dizzy. “Rain, code name: Korean kitten, handler: Sky, trainer: Prapai. You were sent here to distract me right?”
First of all, Rain was going to kill P’Pai, there is no way Sky gave him that code name, and second P’Phayu knew everything and what’s more, “You drugged me?!?” Rain said before slumping forward. Phayu smiled and deftly caught him, nodding to the bartender that was a plant from his organization specifically put in place for situations like this. P’Pakin leaves little to chance.
Two of Phayu’s men come up to take the boy away but Phayu waves them off, “I’ll take care of the boy just get the information we need before his team does.”
Phayu also waves off the hotel security team in charge of the reception. “Just my boyfriend, he’s had a little too much to drink. I’ll take him home now, sorry for the disturbance.”
Phayu carries Rain to the car he has waiting outside, he is glad he didn’t bring his bike tonight. He settles Rain into the passenger seat, not neglecting to put his seatbelt on. As he does, Rain turns his head slightly in his sleep and the light from the hotel catches his face. The boy was breathtaking, what a beautiful creature he was. Phayu couldn’t help caressing his cheek. Shame they were on opposing teams.
Consciousness slowly returned to Rain and he brought a hand up to rub his aching head. He looked around trying to pull his scattered thoughts together. He remembered the bar, and P’Phayu and…….the bastard had drugged him!!!!
“Way to go Rain, you were supposed to distract him and ended up falling into his trap instead. Complete mission fail.” He tells himself.
He looks around the room and wonders where he is. This didn’t seem like his Rival’s headquarters. It looks like a fairly normal bedroom. The only thing that really stands out is the number of expensive looking model cars around the room. They aren’t the type that children would have as toys, this is obviously an adult’s collection. It reminds him of what Sky had said that P’Phayu likes cars and motorcycles, this must be his bedroom.
A knock at the door startles Rain. The man has basically kidnapped him but he is now knocking? Rain finds himself trying to smooth his hair in place before the door opens.
“Sleep well?” P’Phayu asks with a smug grin.
Rain glares at him. “How long do you think you can hold me here? My people will be looking for me?”
“The same people who sent a cute boy to me like a sacrificial lamb? You are free to go at any time though, I will even drive you home. I tell you what, take a shower and I will make you breakfast.” Phayu hands him a bundle of clothes, “I had to guess at the size but I think I got it right.”
He leaves and Rain looks at the clothes in confusion. What size, the shirt is obviously too big and the cuffs of the sweatpants will have to be rolled up to keep from tripping over them. A scrap of cloth falls out of the bundle and Rain’s eyes widen. It’s a g-string with so little cloth up front that it would barely cover anything. Rain squeals in indignation.
Rain spends almost an hour in the shower trying to calm down. He needs to keep a cool head around P’Phayu if he has any hope of gaining the upper hand.
Rain looks around in interest at the house. It’s a very nice place, apparently P’Phayu’s parents were fairly well off to be able to leave both this and the family garage to the brothers when they moved away.
The ground floor was an open design so Rain spots P’Phayu in the kitchen as soon as he comes down the stairs. Damn the man looks sexy in his black button up open at the throat and jeans.
“I thought you had slipped in the shower and hit your head on the floor,” P’Phayu says. He picks up a plate and glass of juice and carries it to the table.
“I’m the type to take a long shower.” Rain says and goes to sit down at the table.
“Everything fit okay?” P’Phayu looks way too amused.
Rain reminds himself to keep his cool. “Fine,” he mumbles.
“Eat,” P’Phayu says.
Rain looks at the plate suspiciously, “You didn’t poison the food did you?”
“If I wanted to poison you, you wouldn’t be alive until now.” Fair point, Rain thinks. Besides, he is starving. He didn’t have much time to eat yesterday with preparations for the mission.
Rain gives P’Phayu directions to his house. He knows he probably shouldn’t trust the man with this information but for some reason he does.
P’Phayu frowns at Rain’s house, “Are you parents home?”
“My parents live in Korea, why?” Rain asks.
“Maid? Roommate? Lover?” P’Phayu asks instead of answering.
“I live alone.” Rain answers, at this P’Phayu starts driving. “What are you doing?”
“Someone was in your house, I could see their shadow. It could be nothing but better safe than sorry as they say.” P’Phayu shrugs. “You should probably call your handler. Maybe he will know something.”
Rain wants to smack himself on the forehead. Sky must be frantic that he didn’t check in last night. He pulls out his phone and sees at least twenty missed calls from Sky and P’Pai.
Rain has barely hit send before the phone is picked up on the other end.
“Rain, where are you? Why didn’t you check in?” Rain isn’t about to go into the whole drugging ordeal over the phone with the one that did the drugging sitting here beside him.
“Sky, I’m fine. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to check in. I will fill you in later.”
“Rain, Som and Ple are missing. They disappeared after the reception. Did you see anything?” Sky asks.
“I wasn’t there for the end,” actually he had barely been there for the beginning but he would add that to things to tell Sky later. “One second.”
Rain turns to P’Phayu, “Sky said that Som and Ple are missing, was that your people?”
P’Phayu shakes his head, “Not mine. P’Pakin’s instructions were clear, we were there for information only.”
Rain frowns, “Same as us, could there be a third interested party?”
“That seems likely at this point.” P’Phayu says.
“Okay, Sky, I’m back.” Rain says.
“Rain, who are you with?” Sky sounds as if he is trying to keep his voice calm.
“Um, well I am still with P’Phayu.” Rain braces himself and pulls the phone away from his ear just in time.
“YOU’RE WHAT?!?” Sky says.
“Still with P’Phayu.” Rain says sheepishly.
“Rain! You need to come in RIGHT NOW!”
Rain looks at P’Phayu who shakes his head. “I don’t think I can just yet, Sky. Someone broke into my house. If it’s not our people and P’Phayu says it’s not theirs then I might have been compromised by whoever took Som and Ple.”
“Rain he is probably lying. It still could be his people behind everything.” Sky says.
“I don’t think so,” Rain says. “I believe him.”
P’Phayu looks at Rain with a raised eyebrow. Surprise evident in his face.
Sky sighs, “are you sure you’re not just falling for a pretty face?”
“Does that sound like me?” Rain huffs.
“Yes,”
“”Sky!” Rain pouts.
“Okay no you usually have an almost empathetic sense about people. But what if you are wrong this time?”
“Sky, I am fine if he was going to do anything he would have when he drugged me. I need to go now.” As Rain hung up he hears Sky’s shout of “WHEN HE DID WHAT?!?”
“So you think I am more than just a pretty face, huh?” P’Phayu says with a grin.
Rain blushes, “Just shut up and drive.”
“Where are we going anyway?” Rain asks after a few minutes.
“The hotel where they held the reception.” P’Phayu says.
“Don’t you think both our teams have been over it with a fine tooth comb?” Rain asks.
“Probably, but have you got something better to do?” P’Phayu says.
Rain thinks there is one thing but probably not the time or place.
P’Phayu shows the hotel security officer an official looking badge and is taken to the management office to look at the security camera footage.
“Didn’t your people already look at this twice?” The head of security asks.
Rain gives P’Phayu and ‘I told you so’ look but P’Phayu just shrugs and says, “just being thorough.”
Rain is fascinated by watching his and P’Phayu’s little drama play out on camera and tries to ignore the odd look the security manager gives them. They see Ple and Som make a speech together, then move around the room speaking to guests. Something catches Rain’s eye near the end and he asks P’Phayu to go back to be sure.
P’Phayu looks at him but Rain shakes his head. He doesn’t want to say anything here. He hopes he’s wrong because if he isn’t Sky, P’Pai and Rain’s entire team are in danger.
Once they are back in P’Phayu’s car, Rain says, “P’Phayu do you trust the people you work for?”
“Without a doubt,” P’Phayu says, “I have known P’Pakin and P’Chai since I was a teenager.”
“What about their superiors, the people in charge?” Rain asks?
P’Phayu nods, “I do, they have never given me any reason to doubt them. What about you, Rain? Do you trust the people you work for?”
Rain frowns, “I thought I did until today. I trust Sky and P’Pai with my life.”
“I sense a but.” P’Phayu says.
“That guy I wanted a closer look at, I am sure it was P’Stop. He and his partner P’Gun are basically top of the food chain at our agency, only the director is above them.” Rain says.
“Maybe he had a legitimate reason to be there to do with the operation.” P’Phayu says but Rain shakes his head.
“The thing is, he shouldn’t even be in Thailand. They are both on assignment in the US for another year.” Rain says.
“Still could have nothing to do with your agency, maybe they have gone rogue.” P’Phayu suggests.
“I want to believe that but there is one problem. The director is P’Stop’s father.”
P’Phayu seems to think for a bit. “Rain, the file your agency had on me included information on my house and garage right?” Rain nods, “And even if Sky doesn’t say anything it won’t be hard for your superiors to guess you are still with me, right?” Another nod, “In that case I need something from the garage.”
“If I am right they will be waiting for us there.” Rain says.
“Exactly, then we will know for sure that your agency has been compromised.” P’Phayu says.
They purposely arrive after hours so the garage employees wouldn’t be put in danger. Rain wanders around the garage while P’Phayu pretends to do some paperwork. His attention is caught by an older model black BMW. “Oh, my dad had a car like this. He was going to give it to me when I started university but I got recruited first and it never happened. Probably for the best, I’m not very good with cars.” Rain says.
“What were you going to study?” P’Phayu asks him.
“I thought I would like to be an architect.” Rain says thoughtfully.
A noise just outside the garage alerts them and rain gets ready going over in his mind all the lessons P’Pai taught him. Several men all in black with ski masks over their faces enter. Without hesitation they attack Rain and P’Phayu. Rain easily holds his own, P’Pai has taught him well, but he can’t help but be amazed at P’Phayu’s fighting skills. P’Pai is good, P’Phayu is a whole new level.
Rain lets himself get slightly distracted and takes a hard punch to the face. P’Phayu is by his side in an instant taking care of that attacker. “Are you okay, Rain?”
“I’m okay, Phi. You are very good at this.” Rain says grinning at him.
“I’m nowhere near as good as P’Chai.” P’Phayu says. Rain thinks P’Chai must be a very scary person in that case.
The two of them easily subdue their opponents and Rain removes their mask, studying each face in turn. They are people from his agency but he is thankful to see no one from his personal team.
“Just leave them here, I will call P’Chai to come clean up.” P’Phayu tells him. “Come, I want to find a place to stay for the night. I want to take a look at your face as well.”
Rain has almost forgotten about the punch he’d taken but now that P’Phayu brings it up it begins to hurt again.
They find a small hotel where P’Phayu checks them in using a false ID and paying cash.
P’Phayu looks at Rain’s injury and applies a cream he picked up on the way here. “You’ll have a pretty good bruise here but I think you will live.”
Rain laughs at this but that causes him to wince in pain. “Don’t make me laugh, Phi, It hurts.”
P’Phayu suddenly looks at him very seriously, “want me to kiss it and make it better?” He asks. Rain looks at him with wide eyes but nods.
P’Phayu sits down next to him on the bed and gently kisses Rain’s cheek. Rain turns his head and P’Phayu kisses his lips gently at first then more insistently. Rain eagerly returns the kiss, opening his mouth to allow the man’s tongue to enter. The feel of soft lips on his, the taste, Rain can’t help the little moans that escapes him.
Rain knows they are moving too fast, after all he’s barely known this man for 24 hours but Rain wants this, so much that he can’t help the hands that move to the buttons on P’Phayu’s shirt. He needs to feel the man’s skin. P’Phayu shrugs out of his shirt then helps Rain out of his own clothes. Rain feels his mouth gently kissing then nipping slightly as his neck. Rain closes his eyes and groans with pleasure moving his head to give the man more access. P’Phayu leaves a trail of kisses and love bites down Rain’s chest steady moving lower. Rain has never desired anyone the way he desires this man. P’Phayu is a skillful and attentive lover and Rain feels like every inch of his body has become sensitized to every touch, every kiss, every bite. The world narrows as all of Rain’s senses are focused only on the other man as if he is everything.
They are woken hours later by a knock on the door. Rain frowns as P’Phayu quickly slips into his underwear and jeans and silently moves behind the door ready to act quickly if the person is an enemy. Once in position he signals Rain who has grabbed one of the hotel robes and slips it on.
Rain jerks the door open ready to attack as well if necessary but gasps in shock.
“Sky, P’Pai how can you be here?” Rain asks.
Sky looks suspiciously at P’Phayu as he emerges from behind the door and takes in both of their appearances with raised eyebrows.
“I have a tracker on your phone in case of emergencies, remember?” Sky says refusing to comment on their states of partial dress.
P’Pai on the other hand looks like he is dying to say something, but Sky silences him with a glare.
“You didn’t tell anyone else at the agency did you?” Rain asks.
Rain launches into what they discovered about P’Stop and the people from their agency attacking them at the garage.
“So do you believe me?” Rain asks when he finishes.
“Rain, I, of all people know you can’t lie to save your life.” Sky says, “Besides there have been rumors for years that P’Gun is particularly unscrupulous and P’Stop isn’t much better. That’s why they were sent on assignment to the US supposedly.”
“Do you think your director is really involved though?” P’Phayu asks.
“I don’t think either PGun or P’Stop have the power to call a team of highly trained agents to go after the two of you. That order would have to come all the way from the top.”
“So what do we do now?” P’Pai asks. “It’s not like the four of us can take down the director of an agency.”
“I have a plan,” Rain says, he turns to P’Phayu, “do you trust me?”
P’Phayu looks at him with a raised eyebrow but nods.
The agency cars surround the hotel leaving the group of four no way to escape. There is no chance to fight their way out and surrender seems like the only option. As the agents burst open the door they kneel, putting their hands over their heads to show that they are not a threat. They are cuffed and put in the back of a van to be taken back to headquarters.
Rain winks at Sky who is sitting across from him. If looks could kill, Rain would be a pile of charcoal.
“Rain this better work.” Sky whispers after they are unceremoniously tossed into one of the jail cells in the agency basement. These are seldom used because their agency deals more with information than actual criminals.
“Have faith,” Rain grins. He turns to P’Pai and looks at him questioningly. P’Pai nods and taps the lapel pin on his jacket once. It is in the shape of three swirling lines meant to represent the wind.
Rain then looks at P’Phayu who nods as well. All their pieces are on the board now they just need their opponent to make the next move.
It doesn’t take long, the director himself comes to their cell. Rain notes that they aren’t taken to an integration room where there are cameras. That is a sign that whatever the director has to say, he doesn’t want there to be a record.
The man looks around at the group. “Prapai, Sky, I am disappointed to see you here. I would have thought better of the two of you.
“Did you have those two computer scientists kidnapped?” Sky asks.
“They were taken into protective custody. The project that they are working on is too important to be shared with anyone else.” The man says.
“That decision isn’t up to you,” P’Phayu says, “and last time I checked holding someone against their will is kidnapping.”
The director looks at him disdainfully, “The organization you work for is little better than a mafia organization with government ties and you dare lecture me about ethics?”
Rain jumps up and this, but P’Phayu put a hand on his arm to calm him.
“So what happens now?” P’Pai asks.
“The four of you will tell me everything you know and anyone you have talked to. Then we will send you all on a nice little vacation.” The man says. In other words he has already planned for them to permanently disappear.
“Is it enough?” Rain asks P’Phayu who nods. At this P’Pai taps two fingers on his lapel pin.
Before the director can ask what Rain means there is a noise outside and extremely handsome but scary men casually walk into the cell.
“What’s going on here?” The director asks.
“Consider this a government sanctioned hostile takeover,” P’Pakin tells him. “Our two organizations are being merged.”
“Oh,” Sky says with a sarcastic smile, “Looks like you are the one getting that vacation.”
“Stop and Gun have been taken into custody and the scientists are safe and sound,” P’Chai reported.
P’Pai steps forward, “That’s all well and good but can I have my pin back now. My Sky gave me that pin.” He says taking off the replica that if anyone had bothered to look closely at was much thicker than the one P’Pai had worn for over a year. It was fairly good work though considering P’Pakin’s team had knocked it together in an hour after P’Phayu had called them in. After that it has just been a small matter of Sky calling the director personally to report that Rain had called him with some crazy story about Stop and Gun. He had let slip during the conversation which hotel they were at.
The merger of the two organizations went well and P’Pakin was made director of the new division with P’Chai as his assistant. P’Phayu and Rain were put on a team together along with Sky and P’Pai.
Rain looks critically at the suit that Por had put P’Phayu in. “Did Por forget to add buttons?” He asks running a finger down P’Phayu’s bare chest. Rain thinks he needs to have a serious talk with Por.
“What about this?” P’Phayu runs a hand under the short jacket and over Rain’s bare abs. The jacket barely reaches the top of Rain’s waistband and is designed to pull up and show off flashes of abs with the smallest movement.
Rain rolled his eyes. “I am supposed to attract attention. You are supposed to step in and pretend to be the jealous boyfriend. That’s how this works.”
P’Phayu leans in and whispers in Rain’s ear, “Who has to pretend? I want to be the only one who sees my wifey like this.”
Rain shivers with delight at those words and grins. “Come, let’s get this over and maybe we can talk P’Pakin into making Sky and P’Pai the eye candy for the next assignment.”
