Chapter 1: Sunset Kiss

Chapter Text

Nathan was waking on the beach, Joseph’s hand in his own, staring at the sunset when he felt a gaze on his neck.

“What? Do I have something on my face?”

“No, I just love you, Nate,” said Joseph, leaning in to kiss him.

*BEEP*BEEP*BEEP*

“Nate, come down or you'll be late for school!!!”, yelled his mom from downstairs.

“DO I HAVE TOOO!?”, he was tired, having stayed up late texting his best friend Joseph, or Joe for short. They were discussing where to go to their weekly outing, a tradition that has been ongoing for the last five years of their friendship.

He got ready, took a protein bar, kissed his mom, and went out. He had gotten a car from his dad for his 16th birthday, about a month ago. Joe said the car was theirs, considering just how many times Nathen has given him a ride.

School was boring at this time of year for someone like Nate. He was an excellent student, never late with his work, even though he never really cared for it. He did it out of necessity, knowing full well he needed good grades to pass to a good college.

Joe, on the other hand, was the sports type that every school had. But he wasn't necessarily the jock type, and would never think about bullying anyone. He has the muscles, but underneath all of that is a soft teddy bear needy for attention.

Nate texted him that he was close and Joe, as always, said he was ready when they both knew all too well that Nate would have to wait at least 10 minutes.

He eventually ran out, barely dressed and fighting his own shoes. He jumped into the passenger seat and hugged Nate, seemingly not realising it is very dangerous to hug a driver in a powered vehicle. “Hi, Natey-boo.”

“I told you to stop calling me that, Joe. This is not a Miraculous episode.”, said Nate while jumping in his seat childishly.

“Whatever, are we getting Starbucks?”, the muscle-y blonde said with his puppy eyes on full display.

“Does that mean I'm paying, again?”, the annoyed brunette answered.

“Maaaaybe?”

“Ugh, fine, but you owe me one.”
