Work Text:

Dean and Castiel eloped the day after Dean and the rest of team free will organized a plan – and executed it – to get Cas out of the empty. ‘I love you’s’ were shared in an instant, along with feverish kisses that made Sam walk away and celebrate the victory in his own way with Eileen.

Naturally, the rush of the ceremony didn't offer a lot of opportunity for a bachelor party – on either side; after all, Sam, Eileen, and Jack were their only witnesses for the ceremony itself. But, for the ceremony, Dean and Cas still went with the classic rhyme. For ‘something old,’ Dean joked that he was enough, which Cas lovingly rolled his eyes at. ‘Something new’ was Cas's acceptance to being human. ‘Something blue,’ well, both of their ties were blue and cutely askew. And in the end, ‘something borrowed’ was Sam's silence on the whole thing for a month so they could have a honeymoon without anyone popping in unexpectedly.

Of course, when Sam was finally allowed to let the news loose, he didn't hold back. Especially since Jack went around reviving a bunch of their old friends and keeping the secret was eating at his insides.

So, the power of friendship fueled two very different bachelor parties. Albeit, after their friends and family stopped being mad at them for keeping such a big secret, and after their friends and family being back had a celebration of its own.

Castiel's bachelor party was held at a local gay club, and he came home covered in so much glitter they were still vacuuming it up a month later. It didn't help that the party came back to the bunker that night and Dean woke up to find Charlie, Meg, Rowena, Jo, Eileen, Garth, and Cas passed out all over the living room – including the floor. Apparently they all got matching mini bee tattoos on their wrists as well, although none of them would realize that until they woke up.

Dean laughed to himself while stepping over them, making all of them hangover burgers for breakfast and not bothering to question why Rowena didn't just magic it away. No one else questioned it either. Not even Rowena.

It didn't matter, Dean was happy to help any way he could.

Dean's bachelor party was much more low-key. Sam, Benny, Garth, Charlie, Jo, Donna, Bobby, and himself stood and sat around a fire, laughing, listening to music, drinking beer — or wine if you were Charlie, it was leftover from Cas’s big bash — and overall just having a good time. Bobby made sure they didn't get too crazy, which meant stopping Jo and Donna from banding together and hosting a tipsy axe throwing competition. Or from stopping Dean from getting a little too sentimental, after all, this was a happy occasion. Overwise, the rest of the night went great.

Dean was definitely more than tipsy when he slinked down the hallway and into his bedroom. Castiel was sitting in bed, wrapped up in warm blankets, peacefully reading and was surprised to see Dean back so soon, he figured the group would've gone somewhere. But if they were all planning to crash somewhere in the bunker, then so be it. Cas's suspicions of the rest of the group staying were confirmed when he heard the mechanical sound of the recliners unfolding. He smiled softly.

They had family staying over.

Cas's smile faded as he became concerned, noticing that Dean was standing there idly in their bedroom doorway. Cautiously, he tapped the bare spot on the bed next to him.

“Come here, sweetheart.”

Humorously, Dean shook his head no, shut the door, and shuffled his way into lying down on the floor.

“I can't sleep up there, I ‘ave a boyfrien.’” He slurred while pointing up at the bed.

Cas set the book down and maneuvered his way to the edge, peeking over to see Dean on his stomach, eyes shut, with his arms crossed on the ground, using them as a pillow. Castiel couldn't help but smirk and chuckle to himself.

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeahhhhh,” Dean drawled out, staying silent for a second before opening his eyes and looking up at Cas, realization hitting him with a punch as a huge smile spread across his buzzed face. “Oh wait. Hiiiiiiiiiii, that's youuuuuu.”

Castiel laughed out loud, wanting to see how far he could go with this. “Hey, Dean. Guess what?”

Dean sat up, slowly going through the process of moving his limbs into the criss cross apple sauce position.

“What?”

Beaming. Dean was beaming at him, awaiting the news with a smile that would’ve destroyed any threat towards him in the past.

Castiel smiled back in an equal way.

“I'm your husband.”

Dean’s eyes widened. “Really?! That's awesome!!”

Castiel gushed. “I’m glad you think so, my love. Now,” He reached his hand out. “Come to bed, please.”

Dean took that hand and Cas led him into bed. They spent that night cuddling and wrapped around in each other's warmth, happy to be alive, and more importantly, in love.

The next morning, it was Cas’s turn to make hangover burgers.

He did everyone a favor in advance and ordered in, not wanting anyone to wake up to a kitchen on fire.

Some things never change, but Castiel was glad certain things did.

He wouldn't have had it any other way.
