Chapter Text
Enid was staring off into space not really paying much attention to whatever their teacher was talking about at the front of the class. They’d gotten a new poisonous fauna teacher after the whole miss Thornhill incident. And Miss Vole was honestly a great teacher and not just because her predecessor had set the bar fairly low with the whole mass murder thing. She was smart and really nice and she was a huge advocate for hands on teaching in the form of a series of experiments she’d go through with the class. One of which Enid probably should be paying attention to at the moment, but a rather unpleasant and unexpected phonecall from her mother earlier that morning had more or less killed her enthusiasm for anything school related for the time being. Instead she was zoning out and counting on Yoko to share her notes after class.
The only downside to this strategy was that she kept hearing tidbits of the other students’ hushed conversations, a side effect of her enhanced hearing. Usually she was rather appreciative of said ability since it helped her keep tabs on all the gossip going on without actually having to interreact with the people sharing it. But recently all the gossip at Nevermore had revolved around the same topic. A topic that was seriously starting to give Enid a sour taste in her mouth. Especially since all the people whispering at their workstations in this class were continuing the trend.
“I still can’t believe Addams ended up catching the guy” the girl at the station next to theirs whispered to her friend
“I know right? I mean even though he conveniently got away from the normie police afterwards”
“I bet she helped him escape. Right up her alley with all hey blood and gore stuff. Plus I heard they were totally an item. Swapping saliva in Crackstone’s crypt”
“Figures only a serial killer would be willing to touch that weird-”
“WOULD YOU TWO BUTTHEADS BE QUIET?!” a voice rang out surprising everyone including Enid. Until she realized the voice had come from her and everyone was now staring at her including the two sirens that had been talking shit about Wednesday
“miss Sinclair” Miss vole broke the silence that had taken hold of the class “if other students are distracting you from your work you’re welcome to inform me. Otherwise please sit down and pay attention”
“yes of course. Sorry” Enid quickly sat back down making sure not to make any eye contact with the sirens as she did. Even though she could still feel their stares burn a hole in the back of her head for the rest of the lesson. Most of which Yoko spent lifting her eyebrows at her completely ruining any chance they had of completing today’s experiment
_________________________________________________________________________________
“Damn Sinclair!” Yoko screamed as the both of walked down the hall. Obviously oblivious to the way Enid was almost running in an attempt at getting away, but keeping up nonetheless “finally showing some teeth”
“I didn’t mean to!” Enid complained “I was just standing there all of the sudden”
“still nice to finally seeing you stand up for yourself” Yoko grinned “even if your repertoire needs some work. I mean butthead, seriously?”
“I didn’t even know I was saying it okay?! Ugh I’m totes not ready for drama this early in the semester”
Yoko just pulled a face before teasingly patting Enids shoulder “then maybe try not insulting some of the most petty fishies here hon. What did they even do to make you freak out like that?”
“uhm” Enid faltered suddenly not being sure how it was going to sound if she said she’d gone psycho cause they’d been insulting Wednesday. Yoko knew the two of them were on more or less good terms after her literally fighting a monster for Wednesday. But that hardly justified Enid’s reaction since she usually just reacted to smack talk by ignoring it until the offenders got bored with it. Honestly Enid wasn’t even sure why’d she’d reacted the way she did. She’d just felt herself get pissed off at the way they were talking about her friend and before she knew it she was standing
“uhm earth to Enid?” Yoko suddenly pulled Enid from her thoughts, waving her hand in front of her face as Enid realized she’d zoned out again “you okay there?”
“yeah sorry” Enid shook her head “just a rough morning”
“Did the goth detective keep you up all night with her cello again?
“She actually keeps her practicing within reasonable hours now” Enid said “No I just... My mother called earlier”
“oh honey” Yoko said. Her expression changing to show so much understanding it made Enid cringe a little. Sure it was hardly a secret amongst her friends that her parents could be... less than perfect. But that didn’t make her any more comfortable with the thought that everyone seemed to just shower her in sympathy as soon as she mentioned them. Which was why she rarely actually talked to people about them. She'd tried a little with Ajax during the start of their extended break but that quickly turned out to be less than ideal.
“want to talk about it” Yoko continued seemingly not picking up on Enid being uncomfortable with the situation. Or merely attributing it to her conversation with her mother rather than this one.
“oh there’s no need for that” Enid quickly said making sure to flash her friend a smile that, judging by the face Yoko pulled, was either too wide or too obviously faked that she really bought it “I just gotta shake it off me you know? Get back on the old horse and all that”
“disregarding the fact you can’t get anywhere near horses without them freaking out” Yoko mumbled
“yes very much disregarding that fact” Enid glared “besides it’s not my fault they’re delicious”
________________________________________________________________________________
“is it safe to come in?” Enid said a little while later as she carefully inched the door to her and Wednesday’s room open. Still conscious about how her roommate had all but pushed her out the door earlier because she was apparently conducting some sort of weird chemistry experiment and had only thought to pack one gasmask. Meaning that Enid had to vacate the premises and that Wednesday was skipping their deadly fauna class, again.
“you can enter” Wednesday responded without turning away from her desk where she was still working on something. Although most of the stuff she had out earlier had seemingly been returned to one of her many trunks “Most of the toxic fumes should have dissipated by now”
“that is so not as reassuring as think” Enid said before dumping her backpack on the floor and throwing herself onto her bed looking up at the ceiling
“and yet you still walk in here without any form of protection”
“eh. Werewolves are tough”
“And I might have been working with Wolfsbane which could have been my reasoning for forcing you to vacate the area earlier”
“WEDNESDAY!” Enid yelled raising herself from the bed to shoot the other girl an incredolous look “you were so not!”
there was a palatable moment where the only noise in the room were the faint clicking of whatever Wednesday was working on before her shoulders slumped ever so slightly in defeat
“no” she admitted “I was not”
“Called it” Enid let herself slump back on the bed with a smile “no way you’d risk poisoning your bestie like that”
“I’ll have you know I own assortment of silver coated weapons that would be more than efficient in doing the job”
“doesn’t count if you didn’t paaaaack theeeeem” Enid teased more than satisfied when all Wednesday offered in response was a discontent growl
After that the both of them slipped into silence and the only sound filling the room was the sound of Wednesday continuing her work, only interrupted whenever she’d ask Thing to hand her something or other before returning to the task at hand as soon as they’d handed her whatever it was.
The obvious downside was that this left Enid alone with her thoughts which, no matter how hard she tried, kept returning to earlier that moment and her conversation with her mother. Which quickly left Enid trying to fight back stinging tears that were pressing against her eyes. Because if she started to cry Wednesday would without a doubt notice and as much as the other girl pretended like she didn’t care Enid was sure she was going to start asking what was going on and Enid was so not ready to have that conversation. Even if Wednesday was probably the one person who wouldn’t look at Enid with that stupid expression that made her feel all icky. Considering the fact that the only time Enid has actually seen Wednesday show any expression other than silent contempt was when a kid fell and broke their arm in the courtyard. At which point it had been morbid curiosity more than anything.
“hey Wednesday” Enid tried after a little while. The only response she got was a slight change in the other girl’s posture while she worked that Enid knew meant she was listening
“do you ever... not like your parents?”
“my parent’s are nauseating creatures and every moment I spend in their presence is a cruel and merciless torture enacted upon me. And not the kind I usually enjoy” Wednesday said without stopping or as much as looking away from whatever it was that she was working on
“yeah yeah I get the whole woe is me and your parents kissing somehow makes you paler than usual. Plus I’ve actually met them and they are very nice people” Wednesday didn’t react to that with a threat. Which Enid took as a good sign
“ I mean are they ever like... mean to you?” Enid tried again, picking at her duvet as her claws unsheathed themselves against her will
This time the clicking of Wednesday’s work stopped and Enid kept her eyes locked on the ceiling despite the fact that she could both hear Wednesday turn towards her and feel her stare bore into her.
“other than being a recurring public embarrassment the ´meanest´ thing my parents have ever done to me is barring me from travelling to the cannibalistic Koroway tribe when I was eight. In all aspects they have been above adequate parents. Why do you ask?”
“no reason” Enid say more than a bit too fast and followed it up with a “really” just as quick as if that made it any better
Her answer clearly wasn’t satisfying to Wednesday who swivelled around in her chair and strode across the room to stand by Enid’s bed
“Enid” she said now much closer and Enid made the mistake of glancing towards the other girl only to find herself unable to break from Wednesdays stare again as she stood by her bed with her arms crossed and a look that, despite how hard Enid was sure she was blushing, she was grateful wasn’t the same pitying look Yoko had given her earlier
“I’m not fool enough to not realize that this conversation has nothing to do with my parents at all” Wednesday continued “now we can do this the easy way or we can do it the hard way. We both know which I prefer”
“I just............. TalkedToMyMomEarlier” Enid finally managed to blurt out after contemplating it long enough that she was sure Wednesday was actually about to go get whatever ´the hard way´ entailed.
“ah” was all Wednesday said while still maintaining eye contact with Enid “and what uncouth thing did she say to you this time?”
“I mean nothing I haven’t heard before” Enid shrugged “just a bunch of stuff about sending me to lycanthropy camp and her saying no mate is going to be interested in a half-wolf"
Wednesday’s expression was unchanged but for some reason Enid still go the weird sensation that the other girl was somehow angrier. Like the entire feel of the room suddenly changed
“I would have thought such nonsense would have stopped after you managed to shift last semester”
“I mean it did at first” Enid mumbled looking away from Wednesday as she remembered everything that had happened during break “she wouldn’t shut up about how great it was that it finally happened and how relieved they all were. They even invited me along for the family hunt for once. But then...” Enid hesitated a bit biting her lip before Wednesday shot her a look that left no room for argument and Enid took a deep breath before continuing “then at the next full moon where everyone was expecting me to wolf out I just... Didn’t”
“you didn’t shift?” Wednesday asked causing Enid to flinch instinctually despite the fact that Wednesday’s voice lacked any of the usual disapproval that usually accompanied that statement
“not even a teeny bit” Enid sighed “and I really tried. But then my mom started yelling about how I probably just lied about wolfing out here and I screamed that she could just ask anyone here which didn’t help at all. Ugh it was just a whole thing”
Enid was pretty impressed with herself for not crying yet even though she definitely felt like it. Meanwhile Wednesday was still standing at the side of her bed same indifferent expression on her face as always. Even though the more Enid looked at the other girl she got the feeling that there was something smouldering just beneath the surface. Like a wild beast right before it pounced on it’s prey to rip it apart. And reading Wednesday’s different moods was a skill that Enid had started to pride herself on during their time as roommates. At this point she was fairly competent at deciphering anything from murderous glee to imminent danger of the other girl pulling out a blade and attacking someone.
“if you wish I know several ways to hurt your mother gravely. Most of which could not be traced back to either of us”
“I don’t want to maim my mom Wednesday” Enid sighed “she’s a challenge sure but she’s still my mom”
“then what can I do to help?” Wednesday with such unmasked sincerity, even if her expression still didn’t change, that it took Enid a few seconds to catch up
“I mean...” Enid hesitated “I could kind of use a hug?”
At that Wednesday pulled a face and Enid hadn’t really expected anything different when she suggested it
“you don’t have to Wednesday. I know the whole touching people thing isn’t your cup of t-”
then much to her surprise Wednesday gestured for Enid to scoot over which Enid was quick to comply with after which Wednesday got on the bed and held up her arms so Enid could essentially lay down on top of her with both of Wednesday’s arms around her. An invitation that Enid was quick to accept as she gently laid down and buried her face in the crook of Wednesday’s arm letting the foreign scent wash over her like she had back then in the forest after fighting the Hyde.
They lay like that for a while. Enid relaxing in the gentle scent of leaves curling up in autumn and something strangely herbal. Wednesday on the other hand was laying as still as a corpse staring up at the ceiling although both her arms were securely wrapped around Enid. Even going as far as squeezing every now and again which made Enid more than okay with the fact that one might think the other girl was genuinely a corpse
“sometimes I just wish I knew how to be enough for her” Enid broke the silence after who knew how long. It had felt like both and eternity and just a few seconds “nothing I ever do ever seems to make her happy and like I know I’m not perfect but-”
Suddenly Wednesday let go of her and sat up straight in bed before turning back towards Enid and locking eyes with her
“Enid Sinclair. I have already told you that you have made an irreversible impression upon me and that has not changed in the few short months we’ve been apart. The night you saved me you were unhinged, frightening and the most magnificent example of a werewolf I have ever laid eyes upon”
Enid Definitely felt herself blushing at that
“I have no doubts that you will shift again. But even if you don’t you are still one of the most impressive and magnificent creatures, I have had the pleasure of knowing. And capable of skinning a grown man alive in less than fifteen seconds. And none of the drivel that your mother lets out of her mouth will ever be able to change that”
Enid was absolutely lost for words. Wednesday was still holding her gaze with her own dark, piercing eyes and Enid felt a small flutter in her chest that she hadn’t felt since the two of them saw each other after the incident with the Hyde. Back then she’d just attributed it to relief that Wednesday had been alright. But now as the feeling seemed to travel up along her spine and expand in her chest and forcing even more blood to her cheeks she wasn’t so sure.
“wow... uh thanks Wednesday. I didn’t uhm know you felt that way”
“no” Wednesday said as she laid back down and slung her arm around Enid again “and if you ever tell anyone I’ll gut you like a fish”
“with the silver knives you definitely packed?” Enid asked teasingly. Entertaining the small flutter a little while longer before she had to face it and figure out what it meant
“most definitely. Now hush. I’m practicing lowering my pulse at will”
Enid chose not to mention that she suddenly noticed that Wednesday’s heart was definitely beating faster than before and instead just nuzzled herself further into the other girl and closing her eyes.
“YokoYokoYokoYokoYokoYOKOYOKOYOKOYOKO” Enid screamed as she rapped on the door to the other girl’s rooms several hours later. She’d woken after what had to be hours since the sun was now almost gone. There’d been no trace of Wednesday other than her lingering smell on the bed and Enid herself. Which Enid probably could have followed to find the other girl but she figured she’d most likely wanted some alone time. So instead she’d have her inevitable freakout and ran to tell Yoko
“WHAT?” the vampire growled as she threw the door open. Sunglasses off for once and very much wearing what looked like goth my little pony pajamas
“inside!” was all Enid said before pushing past and dragging the other girl with her as she slammed the door shut behind them
“Enid! Would you chill?” Yoko asked while Enid to each window in the room and made sure they were probably locked and the curtains drawn. The latter hardly being necessary as the sole occupant is this room was a vampire. However, you could never be too sure when it came to Wednesday Addams
“okay there we go” Enid breathed out in relief completely ignoring Yoko’s question or even presence until she’d centered herself and taking another few deep breaths “I need your help”
“yeah no duh” Yoko said exasperated “you probably also need some professional help with the paranoid ass way you’re darting around”
Enid didn’t say anything but just looked pleadingly at the other girl and almost vibrating in place with the amount of nervous energy trapped inside of her
“okay okay jeez” Yoko relented “what’s up?”
“what does it feel like when you like someone?”
“what? I don’t know you wanna spend time with them and like do shit with them. Normal stuff”
“no not like that” Enid sighed “I mean when you totally like like them. What does it feel like when you look at Bianca?”
“excuse me what?” Yoko said raising a challenging eyebrow at Enid
“I’m not blind. You’ve been making doe eyes at her for-freaking-ever. Just tell me okay?”
“wait does Bianca know?”
“YOKO! One thing at the time please”
“okay okay and fuck I don’t know. However it feels when you look at Ajax I guess?”
“no this is definitely different. And me and Ajax broke up like a week after school ended so not a great example”
“you and Ajax broke up?” Yoko widened her eyes and Enid realised that she should have probably informed her friend of that particular development. But in her defense she’d had a lot going on at the time and didn’t want to ruing her friends break with her own downer
“yeah but we’re good so like move on. Feelings. Chest. Flutter”
“okay okay let’s try this the other way” Yoko sighed “ how do you feel when you look at... wait who even is this if it’s not Ajax?”
“just... someone” Enid didn’t think it would be the wisest idea to start talking about how Wednesday had stared at her and called her magnificent. Partially because she was pretty sure Wednesday had been serious about her threat and partially because she didn’t know how to feel about suddenly liking girls. Especially since that girl was Wednesday freaking Addams
“okaaaaaaaaay” Yoko said giving Enid a look that said that she was definitely gonna be interrogated about this later “so how does it feel when you look at this someone”
“I mean It was more of a one time thing... maybe... ish” Enid blabbered “we were just talking and kind of cuddling I guess when they looked at me and said something really sweet and suddenly I was blushing and my stomach was all... fluttery and warm and weird”
“Aaaaand how do you feel when you think about this person now?” Yoko asked while making gestures with her hands
Enid spent a few seconds considering the questions. Imagining Wednesdays arms around her again. Or her eyes on her. Or even just the way she’d sit at her desk working on her novel while Enid was in the room typing away on her phone and definitely felt her face heat up all over again.
“yuuuuuup” Yoko said popping her lips on the p “you’ve definitely got it bad wolfypaws”
“what?! No!” Enid screamed “it could totally just be a one off thing!”
“wait you don’t want to like this person? I thought you were excited about it?”
“I mean I am… I guess” Enid shifted from one foot to another a few times “but it would def make things super awkward”
“why? Are they dating someone else? Or are like super old? Oh is it a teacher?” Yoko asked getting seemingly more excited with every question
“I don’t think so, no and what the eff Yoko?”
“what? A girl can dream that something exciting might happen here”
“there was literally a freaking serial killer here last semester”
“eh more macabre than entertaining” Yoko shrugged “but if they’re on the market then why would it make things awkward?”
“We’re just so different!” Enid started pacing back and forth “and I don’t know where we are on the whole friend thing anymore plus I’m not sure if they’re on the market! I don’t even know if she likes girls!”
Yoko snapped her head towards Enid at the same time she realized her own fuckup
“wait she? You’re into girls?”
“I don’t know” Enid threw her hands into the air in frustration before sitting down on Yoko’s bed which. Much to Enid’s surprise the first time she had been let in the room, was not a coffin “that’s why I’m freaking out. If this was just another crush on a boy I’d probably just be stalking his insta or something”
“and you’re not doing that now because?”
“because I’m not even sure I like her like that! Last week I was pretty sure I didn’t even like girls and now I’m just… bleh”
“so you’ve never liked a girl before… like ever?” Yoko asked as she pulled her desk chair over and sat down in front of Enid
“I mean I’ve thought they were pretty but that’s always just been a fashion thing. Or because they really were just real pretty” Enid sighed
“girls do be pretty” Yoko nodded with a small smirk on her face like she knew something Enid didn’t “but there’s never been something like this before?”
“nope. Though to be fair none of the boys I’ve dated made me feel like this either”
This time Yoko definitely pulled a face and seemed to think about something for a few seconds before saying anything
“do you mean panicky or are you saying no boy’s ever made you feel… ´bleh´?”
“both?” Enid said raising her eyebrow in confusion
“not even Ajax? You were crazy about him for weeks”
“okay so like. There’s been boys who were nice who I wanted to hang out with more you know?” Enid sighed before continuing “and then with Ajax it was exciting cause he was popular and cool. And I mean he’s really nice to and all that. We just didn’t really click”
“okay so glossing over the fact that Ajax is so not cool” Yoko giggled “you’re kind of making it sound like you’ve never actually liked any of the boys you’ve dated honey”
“I liked them! They were all really nice and I wanted to be with them okay?”
“yeah but there’s a difference between wanting to be around someone and wanting to be with them”
“so what? I wasn’t really interested in any of them I just wanted to be friends?” Enid said and pulled a face
“I can’t tell you that bae” Yoko shrugged “All I know is that what you’re describing with this mystery girl that is what I feel when I look at Bianca. Minus the blushing of course cause you know… no pulse”
Enid sat and thought the whole thing over in her head for a little while. Trying to come to some sort of conclusion as to what she was feeling and what she was supposed to do about Wednesday. Although the more she kept thinking about the other girl the more her train of thought got side-tracked until she suddenly caught herself reminiscing about crisp autumn leaves and feeling the tell-tale warmth in her cheeks
“dammit” she suddenly said out loud causing Yoko to flash a smug smile her way that in no way helped with the conundrum Enid found herself in.
Enid wasn’t in any way sure how she was supposed to handle the situation at all as she returned to her and Wednesday’s room. At the moment she was dealing with the problem that even thinking about the other girl seemed to reduce her to a blushing mess so she really had no idea how she was going to be in the same room as her without Wednesday noticing that something was amiss.
Though it turned out that Enid did in fact not have to worry about that just yet. When she came back to their room Wednesday was still nowhere to be found. And even though Enid stayed up a fair bit later than she usually would, the other girl failed to return.
Much along the same lines she still wasn’t there when Enid woke up to get ready for class. Although she could at least tell that Wednesday had been in their room during the night. Mainly due to the items on her desk having moved and the fact that her scent had gotten stronger on and near her bed. Which Enid did in no way sniff more than what was appropriate to make sure her roomie actually got some sleep last night.
During the day she caught several glimpses of Wednesday around the halls. This year their schedules were for some reason drastically different so the only class that they shared was their biweekly poisonous fauna class. Which Wednesday regularly skipped with the excuse that she already knew everything on the lesson plan so she didn’t see the point in wasting her time going. This had more or less meant that the only times the two girls saw each other was either during lunch or back in their room where Wednesday was always busy tinkering with something, writing her novel or practicing her cello for hours on end. Until everything that transpired the previous day Enid had actually been fairly certain Wednesday had been avoiding her
But Enid soon learned that she had been very much mistaken. Because as she learned over the next few days. There was no mistaking when Wednesday Addams was avoiding someone.
At first Enid just thought Wednesday had gotten overwhelmed. After all the girl was more than particular about being touched so maybe Enid should have thought twice about asking for a cuddle ses. But quickly it became clear that this was more than Wednesday just recharging her batteries. Whatever little they saw of one another before seemed to vanish into thin air. Wednesday would seemingly wake up and be gone before Enid got out of bed and only return after she’d turned in for the night. The only reason Enid even knew Wednesday was using their room at all was the constant rearranging of her belongings and then that one time she managed to corner Thing and make them confess that the other girl hadn’t gone and gotten another roomie somewhere.
Similarly she’d only ever catch glimpses of the other girl around the school before she vanished without a trace. And to no surprise she was also absent from their poisonous fauna class at the end of the week.
As such Enid had barely seen the shadow of Wednesday when the following Saturday rolled around and Enid was laying in her bed looking morosely out the window.
That was until the door suddenly opened and Wednesday stepped into the room. Only to stop dead in her tracks as soon as she caught sight of the other girl
“Enid” Wednesday said her eyes wide with surprise and completely locked on the blonde
“Wednesday!” Enid replied with much more gusto and almost jumped out of bed before stopping herself from a sudden fear that she’d overwhelm the other girl and cause her to flee again
“I thought you’d be out to make use of the moon tonight” Wednesday gestured out the window towards the oversized full moon which Enid had been staring at just seconds before
“Oh” Enid felt a bit saddened by the fact that the only reason Wednesday was here was because she thought Enid wouldn’t be. But she shouldered it determined for them to be okay with each other again so they could at least see one another “no I didn’t really see the point I guess. Spent enough nights being disappointed out in the cold you know?”
“ah” Wednesday nodded for a few seconds “well. I won’t disturb you then” and then started to turn around towards the door
“wait!” Enid exclaimed this time being dangerously close to actually leaping out of bed “you don’t have to go. You’re not disturbing me. Plus it is sort of you room too”
“I…. suppose so” Wednesday said tersely
“so you can just… do what you came to do” Enid continued “I really won’t get in your way”
“as you wish then” Wednesday’s tone was still almost politically neutral and she offered nothing else before moving over to her desk where she started reading in some huge book she’d lugged home from the library. Leaving the two of them in what could definitely be described as uncomfortable silence as Enid’s gaze was pulled back to the moon outside. Although her mind was now on something very different than not being able to wolf out tonight
“hey Wednesday?” Enid said after enduring the awkwardness between them for what felt like an eternity. As usual she got no answer other than the almost imperceivable change in posture that meant the other girl was paying attention
“I’m sorry if I did something to upset you” she said carefully hoping for some sort of answer or reaction from the other girl. But when that didn’t come she felt herself loosing track of her own thoughts and suddenly hot tears that she had barely been keeping at bay before were forcing their way out
“I really didn’t mean to scare you off or be too much or anything and I’ve missed you a-“
“you haven’t done anything wrong” Wednesday suddenly cut in. Her voice still monotone and controlled but more clipped like she was forcing it rather than her usual relaxed indifference
“It is me who has acted a folly” Wednesday continued finally turning around and looking at Enid “I was… dealing with something and thought it best to minimize our contact to avoid you being caught up in it. I see now that I was mistaken and I…” there were a few seconds where Wednesday seemed to consider her words
“and I am sorry” Wednesday finished “both for avoiding you and for hurting you. It was unfair to make you suffer for my mistake”
“your mistake?” Enid said sniffling a fair bit before finally getting out of bed and walking over towards Wednesday “but you haven’t done anything”
Whatever Enid had expected Wednesday’s reaction to her coming closer to be, anything from suddenly fleeing to abject violence, she certainly hadn’t expected her to just breathe in and stare at her with an expression that Enid could only really describe as… fear. Which was truly a strange sight on her friend
“okay so yeah ignoring and avoiding me for four days wasn’t great. But I’m pretty sure I did the same to you last year so I guess we’re even now” Enid tried flashing Wednesday a reassuring smile but that only resulted in the other girls eyes widening even more and, despite the fact that it seemed impossible, even more colour drained from her face
“Wednesday are you okay?” Enid asked suddenly very worried about her friend “did something happen? Is it Tyler again?”
“I’m fine” the other girl wheezed all of the her usual calm demeanour seemingly gone
“Wednesday you’re clearly not fine” Enid sighed but refrained from getting any closer “just… look whatever it is that’s wrong just tell me and we’ll be able to fix it together okay? Trust me”
“You’ll just end up getting hurt”
“I appreciate you looking out for me but I can take care of myself I managed to get through a clawfight with a hyde and my breakup with Ajax relatively unscathed. Apart from some pretty whiney messages… from both actually”
“you and the gorgon broke up?” Wednesday asked. Her demeanour suddenly changed from seemingly scared to obviously curious
“yeah?” Enid said “In like the second week of break. But I’m fine really. Turns out we weren’t really meant to be. Plus I kind of like someone else now” Enid almost kicked herself for adding that last bit. Her best friend was obviously scared in front of her and she was still trying to flirt? Come on Enid
“oh” was all Wednesday said for a few seconds before continuing. Now seeming much more in control than she had before “may I ask who?”
“oh uhm no one” Enid giggled “why do you wanna know?”
“curiosity” Wednesdau shrugged “and I wanted warn him that if her hurt you they wouldn’t find his grave”
“ah” Enid felt a weird mix of worry and flatter at the idea of Wednesday hurting someone to protect her. Which she was sure was most definitely a side effect of having known the Addams for too long. And her stupid crush mixing up her emotions as well
“I don’t think that’ll be necessary” she mumbled “they wouldn’t do that”
Wednesday seemed like she was about to some with some sort of rebuttal when she suddenly froze and slowly tilted her head to look behind Enid and towards the blonde’s bed
“Enid”
“yeah?” Enid was really hoping that there was some other reason for Wednesday to be so fascinated with her bed than the most obvious one
“is that… my sweater?” Wednesday stopped starring at the bed and instead caught Enid’s eyes, which was in no way helping with the absolutely crazy amount of blushing that had overcome her
“yeah”
“you’ve been sleeping with my clothes?”
“I said I missed you!” Enid blurted out in some attempt at defending herself. Because in her defense she’d only started doing it last night when she begone gotten really anxious that she’d somehow mde Wednesday so mad that she wouldn’t return at all but try and find a new roomie like Enid had last year.
Wednesday just looked at Enid for what seemed like an eternity and Enid was sure she was planning some sort of weird threat or gory punishment that she might or might not actually carry out.
“it’ fine” Wednesday suddenly said “you can keep it. I think I quite like the idea of you sleeping with my clothes”
“… you do?” Enid had very quickly lost track of what was happening. Which, judging by the ever so slight smirk on Wednesday’s face was exactly according to plan
“didn’t I say so?”
“well yeah but I just figured… don’t you want it back?”
“you can keep is as long as you want” Wednesday shrugged “I have plenty of clothes”
“so you want me to sleep with your sweater?” Enid was almost certain that she was missing something but the fact that Wednesday Addams was currently asking her to cuddle with her clothing was overriding most of Enid’s rationality for the time being
“Enid” Wednesday said sounding a touch exasperated “much I spell it out?”
“…yes?” Enid said hesitantly still not really getting what was going on
“alright then” Wednesday sighed before standing up and standing unbearably close to Enid “ever since you risked your life to save mine I’ve found myself plagued by ideas and notions that were until then foreign to me” Wednesday started looking very intensely into Enid’s eyes “during our time apart I had hoped that these… thoughts would go away but instead they only grew in intensity and made my fate ever so more certain”
“uhm Wednesday wh-“
“please let me finish mi pena” Wednesday said holding up a finger and surprising Enid who’d was fairly certain she’d never heard her speak Spanish before “Then returning here I have had to endure looking at you every single day feeling like a thousand spiders have taken up residence in my stomach moving about whenever I as much as spare you a second of my thoughts”
Enid definitely wasn’t sure what Wednesday was talking about but it had gotten very personal all of the sudden and something about the whole thing was only making her blush even more completely unable to take her eyes off the other girl
“Uhm Wednesday?” Enid tried again and luckily wasn’t berated for interrupting this time. Although she wouldn’t mind Wednesday calling her something in Spanish again. Whatever it had meant “are you saying that you… like me?”
“I am saying that I meant it when I said you were the most magnificent creature I have ever seen Enid. I am saying that you have been plaguing my dreams from the moment we parted and have been subjecting me to the most excruciating torture due to the fact that I could not have you. Only for me to now find out that you were not out of my grasp after all”
“oh… wow…. I’m not really sure what to say?” Enid laughed trying to find her bearings with most of her blood seemingly having left her brain in an attempt at keeping the fire in her cheeks lit
“is it too intense?” Wednesday cocked an eyebrow
“no no” Enid reassured her “I think I kind of like it? I just maybe also need to adjust”
“good” Wednesdays nods seemingly satisfied “Addamses are not known for doing anything half. Least of all love”
“aren’t you always complaining that your parents are too much?” Enid asked regretting almost as soon as the words had left her mouth. Not wanting to neither make Wednesday think her affection was unwanted or, even worse, compare her to her mother
“People in my family have always been hapless victims to cupids arrow” Wednesday just shrugged “I spent the entire winter trying to fight it before realizing I couldn’t win. You had already conquered me”
“oh” Enid kept finding herself lost for words in this situation. Not being used to being courted this intensely. Or at all really “I really like you too by the way” she suddenly blurted out. The thought that she still hadn’t told her forcing it’s way past any loss for words
“I know cara”
“You do?” Enid gulped at the use of another term of endearment (hopefully) her mouth starting to feel very dry “I only just figured it out the other day”
“I noticed you rooting through my things the other day. And you’ve been stealing my clothes Enid. You aren’t exactly subtle. Now would you mind terribly if I kissed you?”
Enid felt a few hundred fireworks go off in her head at the question
“I think I’d like that”
“good” Wednesday said before pushing herself forward and up catching Enid’s lips in a gentle kiss that overshadowed whatever she was feeling just seconds before with just how amazing it felt. The kiss was in no wild or hungry like the ones she’d tried with Ajax. It was soft with their lips just being pressed against each other and Wednesday reaching up to cup Enid’s Jaw. But it felt right and wonderful like a heat spreading it’s way from where their lips met down into her stomach and out in her entire body. A heat that was suddenly much less metaphorical as Enid suddenly felt her jaw set in a new and unfamiliar way before she suddenly rushed away from Wednesday realizing what was happening
“was it too fast?” Wednesday asked as soon as Enid jerked back. Sounding so genuinely worried that all Enid wanted was to comfort her. Until another wave of bone crushing pressure and heat ran through her body and started to push at her ribcage. She quickly started to pull at her sweater which she really didn’t want to end up like shreds on the floor
“oh” Wednesday said a whole new expression appearing on her face at the sight of Enid trying to get her clothes off
“ot like dhat Wednesday!” Enid screamed at her girlfriend(?). Her still changing Jaw making it very difficult to get the words out right. She was hit by yet another wave which caused her entire back to spasm and before she knew it she was on the floor unable to regain her balance
“oh” Wednesday repeated herself this time actually understanding what was happening and quickly getting down on the floor to help Enid remove various pieces of clothing before her various body parts wouldn’t allow it anymore.
“there you go” Wednesaday said as Enid’s muscles unclenched from yet another spasm “you’re going to be alright lobita” she continued in the most gentle tone Enid had ever heard as she did her best to help Enid through the rougher parts of the transformation

A little while later Yoko was about to go and check up on Enid when she opened her door only to be met by the sight of Wednesday Addams slowly escorting a large blonde wolf towards the stairs while petting it behind the ear and pressing gentle kisses to it’s lower jaw
“Freaking called it!” Yoko exclaimed startling both the girl and the wolf in the process
“while I am certain you did I would ask you to keep quiet as shifted werewolf students are not allowed in the dorms” Wednesday hissed at the disturbance
“Maybe werewolf students shouldn’t stay in with their girlfriends during full moons then?” Yoko shot back
“well this was hardly expected. I do believe kisses usually causes transformations the other way around”
“wait this happened when you guys kissed?! Yoko yelled with glee suddenly filling her voice “Oh she is never living this down. But also what did you expect? You’re an Addams. Of course your kisses work the other way around”
“… touche” Wednesday conceded before returning the challenge of somehow getting her now much larger and clumsier girlfriend down the stairs without waking anyone
