Work Text:

It was a rainy evening, and he was meant to go shopping for Christmas decorations now. Or at least that’s what he told Jack and Jessica. But he had needed some time away from his overly exited son and his former Sister-in-law. It had just been all too much. The Loneliness he felt since the divorce and especially after the death of Haley.
He just felt so alone, and he knew it was his biology mostly. An omega needed touch and a pack. Be it platonic or not. But he had neither. Of course, he had his son, but that wasn’t enough when the cases started to come in. He was away from him to much and he didn’t want to burden Jack.
Oh, and there was the fact that neither Jessica nor Jack knew his secondary gender. They just assumed he was a beta like Haley and that was how he liked it. Most people thought him an Alpha because of his demeanor and the Artificial Scents he put on but when he was at home, they washed away. The suppressants made him pretty hard to scent for anyone but a highbred Alpha.
“Hey, you okay man?”, a warm voice came from behind him, and he noticed he had starred at the same plastic Christmas tree for the last 10 minutes.
He turned away to mumble a simple ‘fine’ and move on but when he turned, he was hit by a strong scent. It was a clean smell, like the forest right after rain and like the freshness of the first snow. It was so different to anything he had ever smelled. So simple and yet intoxicating at the same time.
“Yeah. Fine.”, he mumbled before squaring his shoulders and assuming his usual straight and imposing position. The one that he wore when he was at work. He had to get away from here before he did something stupid. Get away from this scent. So, he turned on the spot, took his shopping cart and went his way. Probably a bit to quickly.
