Narrator's point of view:
It was a normal evening in the Rose-noceda household. The residents are currently eating some coconut curry, you the reader are probably wondering why are we starting here? We are starting here so that you can meet of our main characters. Though not all of them will be introduced right now some of them will. They are currently sitting at the dining table I will tell you who they are there are twins sitting beside each other the twins are the oldest one of them has black hair that fades to Ruby Red, yeah their name is Ruby Rose-noceda ironic right. Ruby has incredibly vibrant and shiny silver eyes, their skin tone is incredibly pale but this is a genetic trait that Ruby seems to be the only one to have. Wearing a faded red and green hoodie with blue and purple sleeves. Wearing black combat boots and gray almost white pants. On the right side of Ruby is Luz Ruby's twin, with dark chocolate brown hair and milk chocolate looking skin, Luz also has a singular silver eye the other eye is a brownish gold, but they wear an eye contact to hide their silver eye because they've always been bullied. wearing a black turtleneck with dark royal purple short sleeved hoodie, wearing a faded crimson cargo pants and gray combat boots. The middle child of this family is not in the house they're staying with their uncle, they decided to take the dog along cuz their Uncle hasn't seen him in a while. The middle child has the name Katie, but they prefer to be called pidge. Moving on to the youngest of the family but not the youngest that's staying in the house at the moment Anne Rose-noceda. Anne has dark brown fluffy hair and is wearing a navy blue button up shirt, black cargo pants and dark green tennis shoes. Sitting across from lose and next to the youngest individual in the household, whom is her best friend Marcy Wu. Marcy is wearing the same hoodie as Ruby as they got it from Ruby as a gift. Mercy is wearing navy blue sweatpants and a pair of black uggs. At one end of the table is the mother and at the other is father mother is named summer the father is named Phantom. Now that you know the names of the individuals let's go a bit into the future at night, specifically midnight.
Anne's POV:
I heard some voices on the other side of the wall and it sounds like people are circling the house, they're standing outside of my room window right now I don't think it's safe to be in my room I have to get Marcy out of here but how do I get her out without her freaking out. I got it I just got to get Marcy to put their uggs on and go to my parents room, to wake them then we can head to Ruby and Luz's room, those two know how to fight they were trained by Uncle they should be able to protect us if our if we need to be protected. Gently shaking Marcy I softly spoke "hey Marc wake up and get your rugs on, we need to go to my parents room and Ruby's room okay?" Mercy simply responded with a quiet "mhm" fun doing as I requested them to do. After they put their boots on I quickly and gently grabbed their hands, gently meeting Marcy to my older siblings room seeing as they were closer and I wanted to make sure Marcy was safe. Now that we're in front of my siblings room I gently knock on the door quietly whispering "rubes I heard someone outside they sound like they're wanting to break in I'm going to warn ma and pa but I wanted to make sure Marcy stayed safe." Ruby quickly responded with saying " me and luz both heard the same thing we both heard walking we thought we were just hearing things but seeing as you hear it too seems dangerous, yeah we'll keep Marcy safe I'll get my bad out to make sure that if anyone does try to break in the room we can protect Marcy. But make sure to stay quiet you don't want them to follow you if they are in the house right now or listening in we don't want them to know that we know" I quickly responded with "you got it rubs." After Ruby open the door pulled Marcy in and closed it quickly behind Marcy I quietly moved towards mom and dad's room. After I opening their door I gently knock on my dad's desk, after
informing them of the situation mom and dad told me to get your jacket on grab bar seat and run them and the twins would stay behind and hopefully cause a distraction long enough for the police and or our uncle to come and help seeing as her uncle was a veteran. I told them I understood and swiftly went to Ruby's room to inform everyone else of the plan, but seeing as Mercy fall back asleep I had to carry Marcy. As I got out of Ruby's window and began heading my way through the rose bushes that surrounded the house I heard a loud crash I look behind it myself to see my bedroom window was open. Shattered actually they had broken into my room if it had not been for me to hear them they probably would have landed on me and Marcy seeing as my beds directly below the window. Swiftly running now in order to get further away from them quicker without them realizing or noticing hoping that they didn't know that there was supposed to be two more people in the house but it seemed one of them Had noticed me or at least my jacket and shot at me. Crap did I just get shot in the side. I look over my shoulder after getting behind a tree to see is that Luz standing on top of someone oh crap Luz must have gotten pissed.
Luz's POV:
I was looking at my window to make sure that the two of them made it out safely but then I saw someone pointing a rifle and this asshole didn't just shoot at my little sister did he? Oh he's getting it now, if I jump out of my window to land on top of him as I'm using my metallic baseball bat. I was able to push him into the bear trap set me and Dad set up near the fence have fun getting away now. If he had a gun then that means that.. the others must have some other weapons as well dang I have to get back inside and warn them or not prepared for guns. I should take his in case I need it but Ruby did set up traps inside the house tripwires classic hunting traps who knew that Ruby would be such of a hunter then again it's probably just Ruby being Ruby. Quickly climbing back into my window I crawl more like crouching while walking quite quickly towards Ruby. And warm Ruby "Ruby we have to wear Mom and Dad they have guns, we didn't prepare for them to have guns we have to warn the-" I was cut off before I can continue by a gunshot then another and then three more. And then I heard sirens no not sirens, that that sound is the sound that Uncle John's car makes that means that he's on his way here right now we're too late those gunshots are probably them killing mom and dad I look towards Ruby and Ruby's looking at me we both not at each other and climb onto the roof, it's the safest place to be the people who broke in most likely won't be able to get up here and you need to be our specific size to get up here we kind of made sure of that we have a little hideout up here that we bring Mercy to sometimes we bring Marcy here just to come, calm I'm down they like the starry night I hope they don't have to see this I hope that uncle has someone at the house taken care of them I hope and didn't get too severely hurt.
Timeskip to uncle John's house.
Anne runs to her uncle's carrying an unconscious Marcy with her. She was told to go to her uncle John's house if anything happened at home that she really needed to get away from. She tried not to cry as she ran up the steps and to the door.
She knocks twice and calls out, "uncle John! uncle John!" As she waits for the door to open. an unfamiliar face opens the door with bright sunset eyes and crouches down to eye level.
"John, who's this?" The new person asks.
John Rose, older brother to Summer Rose, was the uncle to the three kids. He walks up to the door and picks up both Anne and Marcy to bring them inside.
"Why are you over so late?" John asks Anne as he puts them both on the couch. When Anne doesn't answer him and just looks on sadly John decides he won't press for an immediate answer.
"Never mind, your sisters can tell me later. Do you want anything to eat or drink?"
Anne shakes her head, and John leaves her alone from there to get his shoes on and go to his car with the unfamiliar character following him.
"What do we do now, sir?" He asks shyly as he's getting into the car. On the other side of the car John gets into the driver's seat and starts the engine as he pulls out of the driveway.
"We're getting the other kids." John says.
"Are they your kids sir?"
"They're my sister's kids, Atsushi. And they don't just run over in the middle of the night for no reason, so I'm going over there to make sure everyone is okay."
Atsushi nods and looks the other way out the side of the window and watches the buildings and occasionally other cars zip by. The drive is silent, not even the radio is on.
when the car stops Atsushi and John both get out at the kids house to look for them. Atsushi is the first to go inside when John notices the two kids on the roof and helps them down.
"What happened here? Luz, Ruby?" He asks, Ruby just hugs him and doesn't let go.
"John!" Atsushi calls and John puts both the kids in the car before he rushes inside.
Inside was the kids parents, and what seems like one of the murderers. All dead on the floor.
"Oh my god." Atsushi looks away from the mess. "What the hell?!"
John is quiet.
"You said those were your sisters kids?" Atsushi yelps.
"Emphasis on the 'were' now." John responds.
"I'll go sit with them, I can't look at this.." Atsushi walks out of the house covering his eyes all the way to the car, he gets into the car tapping his foot anxiously waiting. The kids in the seat behind him both look miserable. Well that enough is obvious considering they most likely saw their parents die in front of them. He sighs.
"Uh, what are your names?" He asks. Ruby looks up at him and he jumps. "I mean- if you don't mind me asking after you just went through all that, I mean... um."
"My name is Ruby, and that's my sister Luz." Ruby says, Luz just looks right into Atsushi's eyes, giving the poor guy a heart attack.
"Uh- is that so?"
"Your eyes are cool!" Luz yells, startling Atsushi further.
"They are?!"
"Look Ruby! They're so cool, look at them!" Luz yells again.
"His eyes are like- they look like a sunset, right don't they Ruby?"
Atsushi laughs nervously as Luz continues to exclaim about the color of his eyes, John gets in the car as the kids are talking and starts the engine again as the car leaves the kids home.
Back at John's house when everyone returns, someone is up on the couch reading to a now bandaged Anne and Marcy. Atsushi walks right in and sits down next to the reader with a pleasant smile like he has finally found peace.
"Do either of you want anything?" John asks to Ruby and Luz as he helps them inside.
"Sleep." Ruby replies as her and Luz join the other four on the couch.
"Okay. I see Dazai's awake now."
Dazai, the one reading to the kids smiles quietly before he continues reading with Atsushi leaning on his shoulder asleep. John leaves them alone from there and and decides he should get some sleep as well.
