Small Town

Summary:

When a wealthy consultant moves to their small town, high school sweethearts Eijirou and Katsuki ask him on a date. Izuku’s happy enough to land in their bed, but anything more serious? He’s not so sure. Burned out, fresh off a breakup, and deeply wary of attachment, he just wants peace, quiet, and maybe the occasional orgasm.

Katsuki and Eijirou want more.

Now the two of them have to convince Izuku that what they have is real—slow mornings, good food, shared chores, and a whole lot of love. Because yeah, the sex is great, but the goal is a future. Preferably one with pajamas, skincare, garden dinners, and three people who trust each other enough to stay.

Comfort-tober Day 8: Small town / Prom / “I seem to recognize your face”

Thank you so much to Kat for the idea for this story, and all of the subsequent brainstorming and workshopping. The meet-cutes are entirely theirs, and bless their shippy brain for this autumn fluff-fest.

I am also thrilled at their beautiful, silly art!

Chapter Text

"Would you like a little Irish in your coffee?" Denki asked with a wink, the mismatched, floral-wreathed dishes from their dinner already loaded on his tray. Eijirou flushed like he always did when someone attractive flirted with him. Even if they were a friend that they'd known their whole lives who flirted as effortlessly as he breathed.

"Sure," Katsuki answered for him. Eijirou would have said no, because he knew Katsuki didn't like to put that shit in his body, regardless of how much he enjoyed the whiskey that the diner owner kept in the back. It wasn't on the menu, but locals knew to ask. Katsuki was okay with overriding Eijirou when it meant giving him what he wanted. He also enjoyed how his husband let him boss him around.

It didn't hurt that Eijirou got a little slutty when he had liquor in him, even if it was just a nip. He enjoyed having that bit of an excuse to cut loose.

"Coming right up. Cinnamon tea for you?" Katsuki nodded. They were predictable, but he liked it that way, and one of the few benefits to living in their small town was that folks knew them. Especially that they knew him and didn't try to sand down his rough edges. They both watched Denki's ass as he went to make their drinks. When their eyes met again, Eijirou smiled sheepishly, and Katsuki smirked. He was sure Denki would be a great time in bed, but they'd decided long ago that dating anyone from their friend group would be too messy.

They sat in companionable silence, having caught up about their days while they are. Eijirou pulled out his phone, but Katsuki didn't mind. Katsuki was more comfortable doing nothing than his husband was. He figured his restlessness came from the same place that made him so good at connecting with people, and that was a skill Katsuki had always lacked. They balanced that way.

He continued to enjoy the silence as their drinks arrived, the steaming mugs mismatched and comforting in their familiarity. He'd seen that faded rooster print his whole damn life. Back when he was little, the current owner had bought the diner from the previous owner and acquired all new plates and flatware to celebrate the grand re-opening.

Eijirou reached across the table for a packet of sugar. He dumped it into his almost empty cup of coffee and stirred the sludge a few times with a spoon. Katsuki knew the liquor had kicked in when he licked it clean while making exaggerated eye contact. He wasn't subtle or smooth, but he was Katsuki's.

Art of Eijiro licking the spoon, making an amusingly suggestive face, his cheeks flushed pink

"C'mon, Red," he said, trying not to grin. "Let's get you home and find you something for your oral fixation."

Eijirou melted out of the well-oiled booth seat, and Katsuki tossed a few bills on the table before sliding his hand into the back pocket of his husband's joggers to guide him towards the truck.

"Have a nice night!" Denki called as Katsuki pushed the door open. He gave Eijirou's ass a little squeeze.

"Fuck off," Katsuki tossed over his shoulder, making Denki laugh as he deftly typed keys on the manual register.

"Can I suck you off in the car?" Eijirou asked, just outside the diner's doors and too close for comfort.

"Volume," Katsuki warned, unlocking the passenger door and helping his brick shithouse of a husband climb in. "Or are you trying to make sure Denki knows how slutty you are?"

Eijirou's grin could break hearts.

"Wanna know he's thinking of me while he fucks himself."

Katsuki shook his head, then guided his husband's dangling leg into the cab so he could close the door.

"Freaky little exhibitionist," Katsuki muttered as he stalked around the truck. Eijirou was making soft eyes at him as he climbed in and started the engine.

"I'm glad you went on a date with me," he said, the sincerity in his words making Katsuki's ears turn pink. It still amazed him how easily Eijirou said shit like that.

"The diner is a shit date." The neon sign advertising the restaurant's 24 hour availability flickered red and blue across Eijirou's face as Katsuki backed out of the parking space.

"No, it's nice! I enjoy talking to you and eating our favorite foods."

"Nothing on that menu is either of our favorites," Katsuki said flatly, though he agreed. It was good to reconnect and hear about whatever went on at the store that day.

"Kat," Eijirou replied, a warning in his voice. "You know what I mean."

"Yeah, yeah." He shifted into the next gear as they rolled onto the highway and headed south to their farm. "I know. I'll take you somewhere better next time we head into the Big Town." Katsuki would bring them to the one restaurant in Town with tablecloths, but the only person on this planet that Eijirou hated owned it. As funny as it was to watch him rant about Monoma, it didn't make for a good date night activity.

"Mm, that sounds fun," Eijirou said, stretching his arms over his head. He had to keep them bent at the elbows to avoid punching the truck's roof. "Can I give you roadhead?"

"Absolutely not," Katsuki growled, though his cock twitched in interest. "You'll bite it clean off this time."

"You've got to let me try again eventually," Eijirou wheedled, but Katsuki remained firm. That had been a very fucking embarrassing clinic visit when they were seventeen, and he was not interested in repeating it as a grown-ass adult.

"I'll take care of you when we get home," he promised. "You can suck me dry if that's what you want."

Eijirou hummed, sliding further down in his seat and letting his legs fall open. He tilted his head as if considering, then nearly made Katsuki drive off the fucking road as he stroked himself through his joggers. His girthy cock swelled against the thin fabric.

"I want you to fuck me," he said. "Slow and hard."

Katsuki swallowed, his mouth real fucking dry. They both loved long sessions like that, where they teased each other with the slow, steady pace of Katsuki's thrusts. Who would break first was like a game, and the odds were even. Either Eijirou whined and begged to come, or Katsuki broke and fucked into Eijirou like he was a goddamn sex toy.

No matter what, the orgasms were always spectacular, though they didn't always have the time or energy to fuck that way. They had work in the morning, but it wasn't so late that they would be wrung out tomorrow. Katsuki was all in, though he'd have had trouble saying no even if they were getting home at midnight.

"Do you want the vibe?" Katsuki asked, his voice rough. He reached over, squeezing the outline of Eijirou's cock, groaning under his breath at how fucking hard he was already. "You wanna be fucked that badly, Red?"

"Yes," Eijirou hissed, his tongue flicking over already wet lips. His hand flew up to grab the handle over the door, his bicep flexing as he used it as leverage to roll his abdomen and grind against Katsuki's palm. "Fuck, I want you, baby."

Katsuki considered pulling into the ditch and taking Eijirou hard and fast, right the fuck now. They always kept lube in the glove box. And he wanted to fuck into Eijirou's sweet heat.

But he wanted to make him fall apart even more.

He slid the back of his hand up Eijirou's torso, then laced his fingers into his hair, shoving aside the elastic band holding his messy bun in place. He tugged, none too gently, baring his neck and forcing him to look at Katsuki.

"Don't you want to be a good boy?"

Eijirou tried to nod and winced as the motion pulled at his scalp. Katsuki kept his fist in place as he turned into their driveway, his knee helping to brace the steering wheel while he drove with one hand. His balls ached as the truck bounced over some decorative rocks lining the boundary of one of the smaller gardens. Still, it was fucking worth it to keep his hand on his needy mess of a husband.

"Get inside," he barked, leaning across to open the truck door and shoving Eijirou off the bucket seat. He wasn't any more patient at this point. He panted for a moment while watching Eijirou walk towards their house, pants tenting and rolling his gait to show off his ass in a way that he knew drove Katsuki fucking batshit.

Twelve years in, and he was still as horny for his husband as when they'd been fifteen.

He hurried out of the truck, grabbing the groceries they'd picked up just in time. He juggled the half-torn paper bag as he came up to the house, then ran into Eijirou's back as he tried to keep the rice from dropping to the ground.

"Someone's moving into the old Midoriya place," he said. Katsuki followed his gaze and saw the same DIY moving truck that Eijirou was looking at.

"Nuh-uh," Katsuki said, smacking Eijirou on the ass. The rice fell onto the grass under their feet, and Katsuki couldn't give two shits. "You do not spend the drive home laser-focused on my cock just to get distracted by some shitty city boy trying to flip his great grandma's farmhouse."

"Maybe he's going to stay," Eijirou said, his tone brightening like a golden retriever at the thought of a new friend.

"Absolutely the fuck not," Katsuki hissed, once again grabbing his husband by the back of the head, this time dragging him into a heated, sloppy kiss full of tongue and teeth.

Eijirou went into the house without further distraction, and Katsuki scooped up the rice without looking away from his husband's well-sculpted thighs. He didn't spare a thought for anything but Eijirou for the rest of the night.

Izuku woke with a start, his cell phone blaring the theme music of a television show about a forensic investigation team in 17th-century Italy. He scrambled for it and missed the call as it went to voicemail. Four missed calls?

He groaned, scrubbing at his face. He'd have to activate the landline phone. The cell phone reception was too spotty out here to count on. Rolling out of bed, he pulled on leggings and a long knit sweater, then padded through the house to the north side where he could find a few bars of reception.

"Hello, this is Izuku Midoriya," he said when the call picked up. "You just called me?"

"Yes, I'm with Woven Network. We're a few minutes out for the preliminary inspection of the property."

"Oh, excellent. I'll put on some coffee."

They chatted a bit about the permitting for the city lines before disconnecting the call, and Izuku hurried to brew. He pulled his coffee beans from the beige, utilitarian freezer that was straight out of the eighties and began the familiar ritual of grinding them and boiling water for his French press. The coffee still had two minutes to steep when there was a knock on his front door, so he left his setup to let the technicians in.

"I know that the wiring in the house is updated," Izuku said, jumping right into business because he didn't want to waste their time. "I've got a contractor I can connect you with so you can let her know whatever work needs to be done and coordinate based on the other work we're doing."

He was turning two small bedrooms on the second floor into one moderately sized office and adding a bathroom to the first floor. Amongst other minor projects, he was also insulating and finishing the attic and painting most of the walls. Getting fiber internet laid was the highest priority, though.

"That would be helpful," said the technician he'd spoken with on the phone. "The good news about a property like this one is that we can design whatever we want, and there's much less to worry about underground. The Town has been real receptive, too, and the county will have their folks out later this week to sign off on the project."

"Wonderful," Izuku said, meaning it.

This was a better timeline than he'd imagined. He might only need to drive up the freeway to the nearest bigger town for work a handful of times. The satellite internet he'd installed for his grandmother had been enough to check her email and download some files. Still, it wouldn't stand up to video streaming, much less the massive downloads he needed for his work. Data sets got heavy, fast.

He gave the technicians a copy of the surveyor's maps and the house's blueprints as updated by his contractor. He sent them out to do their inspection after warming their thermoses with his freshly brewed coffee. He cupped his mug between his hands, leaning on the counter with a relieved sigh.

As he went to take a sip, a faint whine came from the living room, making him jerk. He'd forgotten! He had a dog now!

"I'm sorry, Argos!" he fretted, setting down his mug and grabbing the small dog's leash. "I'll take you out right now."

He knelt before the crate, opening the door and grinning as he received a bundle of warm fur, his body wiggling in excitement.

"Sorry, I almost forgot you. It's been a busy morning already!" Argos licked his hands as he clipped the leash to his collar, making Izuku wrinkle his nose a little. He'd get used to being drooled on, but it felt a little gross for now.

"Let's feed you some breakfast, goofball."

Eijirou bobbed his head to the music playing through his old, unpredictable wireless speaker, just able to hear the driving beat over the whine of the blender. He'd woken to an empty bed, but that was standard when you were married to a farmer. He had dozens of hazy, half-awake memories of being kissed as Katsuki slipped from their room, so he didn't mind.

It also meant that he got to start his day the way he liked best: with pumped-up music and a protein shake. Katsuki found it too noisy, so he got up early to do the farm chores, and Eijirou got to jam out before heading into the shop. Everything in balance.

He poured his shake into a travel bottle, then filled the blender jug with soapy water to soak in the sink. The next track had him trying to rap along, but he only knew half the words and couldn't talk that fast, so it was a mess, but it made him happy to try. He bounced and half-sang his way to the living room, where he dropped to his yoga mat.

It was one of his favorite possessions, thickly padded, made of excellent grippy material, and the best part - covered in flowers. The illustrations weren't accurate to natural specimens, but he was okay with creativity. It was more about how flowers made the artist feel, and Eijirou was pretty sure the artist loved them the way he loved them.

He cycled through his warm-up stretches before moving on to his vinyasa. He'd put the sequence together to address the areas of his body that tightened up often or that he should stretch out to prepare for another day on his feet. He bopped his head along with his upbeat music as he held poses. Pop punk and yoga were a strange combination for most, but he got bored, and his mind wandered if the music was too relaxing, and his form suffered for it. Better to be weird and take care of himself.

He took a shower, bringing along his protein shake bottle to polish it off, and then checked his phone notifications while brushing his teeth. It was mostly junk from random apps, but he had a text message from Hanta.

Hanta: Dude, the mayor signed off on fiber internet install???

Hanta: Where did the money for that come from?

Hanta: Whatever who cares, I might actually be competitive online now and not be constantly shadow-banned for my shitty internet

Eijirou's eyebrows raised. His most significant internet need was for the credit card payment system, but that might change if it were more reliable. He sent Hanta some enthusiastic emojis, then hung up his towel and strode naked into the bedroom to get dressed.

He was pulling a pair of boxer briefs on, hunched over his knees, when a rabbit-shaped blur flew by the window. It startled him enough that he yanked his underwear on, wincing as he pulled too hard. Said tall, revealing window was set into the back door, which opened right into their bedroom.

It was supposed to be their manufactured home's living room, but to have a bed large enough for him and Kats to fit in comfortably, they'd had to switch the spaces. They hadn't gotten around to putting blinds on the door because they had plenty of privacy, but it still spooked him when he thought someone might peer into his bedroom.

He jumped in place a few times to shake his junk back into a comfortable position, then pulled on a fresh pair of joggers, a tank top, and an unbuttoned flannel. He slipped a couple of hair ties onto his wrist but left it down so it would dry while he drove into Town. After cleaning the blender and grabbing his lunch from off the counter where Katsuki had left it, he grabbed his keys and twirled them around one finger as he walked out to his truck.

Part of him hoped for a kiss before he left, but Katsuki was too far away. As he started his engine, he could see him puttering in his apiary out way past the house in the middle of the flower fields. Eijirou liked to be there sometimes when he opened a hive because he enjoyed seeing all the bees crawling around and taking care of each other, but otherwise, beekeeping was Katsuki's thing.

So far, they had only produced enough honey for themselves and to store for the bees over the winter, but Katsuki had successfully got two more hives going this year. Eijirou hoped there'd be jars of their homegrown honey on his shelves soon.

He turned his truck around and headed down the long driveway connected to the road. The cracked window let in enough air to toss his hair around. The early Autumn air was cool, but he ran hot anyway. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel to a half-remembered song that was stuck in his head, and damn if he didn't feel great today.
