The (not so) Dead Boys ;)

Summary:

Sam. Edgar. Alan. Michael. Nanook. They all killed the lost boys and were now safe from vampires in Santa Carla. But the thing about vampires is they're immortal. There's no afterlife. No moving on. Just life and then a space. What happens when that space is the Emerson's house hold. The past can haunt us... If we let it.

Notes:

TW! Blood, gore. I'm sure if you've watched the lost boys you're fine with detailed blood drinking but warning for technical self harm.

Work Text:

Michael startled awake again. He looked frantically to his left and slapped a hand on his stomach. No arm. He could've sworn there was another person in his bed. Squeezing him so tightly he couldn't breathe.

"I'm going mental" he whispered. He heard a deep, sadistic, chuckle and his head snapped up towards his closet. Nothing was there. The voices were definitely outside, not in his head.

His sleep had been restless recently. Since the boys died, he barely got an hour at a time. He told Sam and his mother, Lucy, that it was paranoia, fear of them coming back. But in reality it was regret. Regret for showing his brother and his friends the cave. Leading them to Marko. He was starting to feel accepted. Star just clouded his vision. He was thinking with his dick, not his heart. 'Fuck that was cheesy' he berates himself in his head.

"David, I don't know where you are but... I'm sorry. I know it means nothing. Star got in my head and then Sam started going on about monsters. You scared me on the beach, but I was coming around. You all looked like something other-worldly. You always did" he chuckled lightly. "I've been thinking a lot about everything. I should have just embraced it because now I feel empty and without promise of a life." He wiped a tear off his cheek.

"How moving" a voice snarked. "What?" He asked the room, he looked around and nothing was there. "He said 'how moving', Michael" he knew that voice. "David" he said, his voice shaking. "Good guess" he snarled. "I'm going crazy. You're not real. You're not real!" his eyes darted all over his room. "oh, but we are" a different voice called out. "Show yourself!" Michael demanded. "It's not pretty, Michael. You sure you want to see? We might scare you again" David said. "I'm sure" suddenly there were three opaque figures at the end of his bed. Dwayne, Paul and David, each with the way they died scarred on their bodies. David had two holes through him, so did Dwayne but Dwayne also had lines of black running through his skin. Paul was the worst, his skin looked like he'd been mauled. Long burn scars all over his body, looking red and raw.

"I'm so sorry" Michael started to tear up. "Don't cry, Michael. You only killed one of us" David said and pointed to his wounds. "Fuck, how- how are you here?" he asked. "Vampires are condemned to live for eternity. This is just another form. You killed our bodies but we live on" David explained. "Where's Marko?" all three boys tensed up at the name and their eyes turned dark. "We stay where our bodies are, and since we're burried in your back yard we cant leave the property. That's why we need you, Michael" every time David said Michael's name it was with purpose, and it sent a shiver down Michael's spine.

"What do I need to do?" he asked, with wide eyes. "Take our bodies to the cave. Marko was always the emotional one of the group, he has got to have had at least three breakdowns. And he knows we're dead." Paul spoke with resentment towards Michael, eyes narrowing. "Paul, play nice." David warned. "How am I supposed to move three bodies without everyone noticing? Paul is just a skeleton, Dwayne is fried. How am I supposed to- just bag them up?" Dwayne growled at him. "Thanks for the reminder of our deaths that were Your Fucking Fault" he said threateningly. "Bag them, Michael, there's no practical use for them anymore... unless..." David said, thoughtfully. "No, that's for later, bag them" David instructed without emotion. "No one's awake now, bag them and go." Michael hesitated. He didn't even know they were still around an hour ago and now they're demanding he take their bodies. "You owe us." Paul added. It's true. He did.

"Okay" Michael got up. "Can you guys like, wait outside so I can get changed?" he asked, looking at his plaid pajama pants. "Don't get shy on us, Michael. We're no stranger to the male anatomy" David said with a wink. The other two smirked and Paul let out a throaty chuckle. Michael blushed red, "Please, just stand outside" the three ex-vampires walked through the door in a line, David at the front and Paul at the back.

After changing, Michael went into the kitchen to get a few big bin bags. He walked to the back yard where they buried them, the spot easy to find as it had only been a week. "You didn't even dig us separate graves" Paul said, scoffing. "I- sorry. Didn't think you'd be around to mind" he said, regret evident in his voice. "It's okay, Michael, just take us to Marko" David said calmly, eyeing Paul like he was going to break.

Michael started to dig the grave until he hit solid matter. "You guys might not want to look, I nearly threw up because of it and it wasn't even my body" David scoffed and pointed to his wound. "I'm sure we've seen worse" he said. "I really think you shouldn't look" he insisted. "Well, I really think you should mind your own business when it comes to our bodies" Paul snarled. "I warned you, man" he said and uncovered the bodies. Paul and Dwayne instantly turned their heads away and Paul turned his body into Dwayne's, he wrapped an arm around him protectively. David just stared. At his own pale, lifeless body. "David, please" Michael said. "Just bag them up and move" he said, sighing. Michael wished he could've reached out and touched him in that moment, but he couldn't. And it was his own fault. He started to put them in the bags he brought out with him.

He dragged the bodies, one by one, through the house and into Lucy's car. The others sat in the back, in the open air, of the truck. Once they got to the cave he was able to drag all three bodies down the wooden steps and put them in the cave. Michael lit the barrels to bring light to the dark cave. "Marko? Marko!! Marko?!" Paul started crying out. Suddenly Marko appears, eyes red and sniffing. "Oh god Marko" Paul said and rushed to hug him. Marko buried his face into Paul's shoulder. Then, to Michael's shock, he pulled back and kissed him. Michael averted his gaze to look at the floor."What's wrong, Michael?" David asked, as if daring him to say something. "Nothing" he said.

The boys pulled back from each other's body. "Marko, I'm so sorry. For everything. I was scared and- Jesus. It's not an excuse or- or even a reason. I'm sorry. You all trusted me in your home and-" Michael sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I'll go" he said and turned to leave.

"Michael" David called out. "There is a way to make it up to us" the three other ghosts looked around confused. "Max had a diary. Full of vampire secrets. He only shared a few with us but let one slip. Since none of you burned our bodies with fire, there's a way to bring us back. Max caught fire, no need to worry about him. You need to find the diary at his house and bring us back" he explained, sitting on his wheelchair.

"I don't know, you guys killed innocent people and tried to turn me and Star. Not to even mention Laddie, he was just a little boy, David" he said. "Star said she wanted to be like us, we explained it to her and she willingly drank. Laddie found the bottle, we hid it to prevent his turning. We were going to wait until he was older but he drank it after seeing Star." Michael's face dropped in shock. She knew. And she still drank. "And those people? You believed they were innocent? They were nazi's. They've assaulted more people than I can count, verbally, physically... even sexually, Michael, we kill those who deserve it or who have wronged us. And as for you, well, no vampire can refuse their sire's orders" oh. Michael turned to the others who all nodded. It made sense now, they weren't bad people, not monsters, they just had to find a meal.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked. "You ran away. We were going to explain the next day but-" David gestured to Marko. "Shit" Michael said and sat on the floor. "Fuck. Guess you were right, David. I am a killer" he looked at him with tears in his eyes, crying once again. He looked to the others and their facial expressions had softened. "Hey, don't worry about it. I wasn't exactly on board with the whole vampire thing either. Of course I didn't go to the extent you did, but I acted out. Tried to tell the whole boardwalk that monsters roamed among us. They thought I was crazy, obviously, but I reacted badly too. Now you can help us, if you're still willing" Marko said and sat next to him, he tried to put a hand onto his shoulder but it went straight through. Michael looked at him sadly. "I'm so sorry. I'll fix it. I promise I will." he said, determined. "Don't make promises you can't keep, Michael. You don't know what it entails. You could have to kill people. People with futures" David explained softly. "I'll fix it" he repeated.

After a while, Dwayne, Paul and Marko disappeared to a different room. "You said we were other-worldly. Even without the vampire faces." David stated. "Yeah, it's because you are" Michael said, not looking at David. "What do you mean?" David asked, he knew. "David wants to know what I mean. Marko, do you know what I mean? Huh? Paul do you know what I mean? Who wants to know? David wants to know!" Michael imitated the boys. He looked up and David was smiling brightly. They both laughed lightly. "Fair play, Michael." he said and a silence took in the room.

"You're all so... attractive. I don't know how to say it without sounding gay" he said, putting his head in his hands. "Could you be?" David asked. "I've never really thought about it until I saw Paul and Marko. I mean, I always thought guys we're attractive but in an appreciated way. Not an i-wanna-get-with-you type of way. But I'm not opposed, I guess. I thought everyone looked at guys and girls. Is that not true?" he asked, looking into David's eyes. "Apparently not. I'm the same way but Marko is gay, doesn't look at girls. Everyone else is like us, notices both" he revealed. "I don't know if I'm gay, I've only just realized that the thought of kissing a dude doesn't repulse me" David hummed. "Well, once we're back we can practice, if you'd like... Michael" he shivered at David's voice and his offer. "Oh- yeah sounds- sounds good" David laughed openly until Michael joined in.

Half hour later

"Just go to his house, his diary is red and leather. It has two holes in the front of it to symbolize fangs. It could be anywhere but most likely his room." David said Michael is about to leave. "Remember, you don't get the book, you don't get the kiss" he said, in front of the others. Michael blushed and turned around and walked out the cave.

When he got home, everyone was up and sitting in the living room. Shit. He sighed and opened the door. "Michael, where were you?!" his mum asked as he walked into the room. "I was clearing my head, everything is still overwhelming" he lied, easily, to protect the boys. "Why did you dig up the bodies?" Sam asked. "I know it sounds dumb but I thought that I heard something, I covered them back up. Then went out." He lied again, he didn't even feel bad. "Okay, Michael, let's all go back to bed." His mum said. Lucy made her way upstairs. "You're not fooling me, Mike. You're up to something," he said and traipsed upstairs after his mother.

Michael didn't know if he was gay but he knew one thing. He would do anything for one kiss from David. So the very next day he rode his bike up to Max's old house.

He managed to crawl through a window that was left open. He looked around and it was kind of gross. It looked like his other grandpa's house. Weird green carpet coated the floor and stripy wallpaper covered the walls. The sofa was a weird swamp green and velvet. Odd choice. Then a bark sounded. Shit. But instead of the white dog attacking he just trotted up to Michael and leaned against him, looking for attention. "Hi, boy" he said and grinned, scratching behind the dogs ear. "Can you tell me where Max's diary is? Hey?" He asked, crouching to eye level. Thorn just licked his face and painted happily. "Guess not" he laughed and walked up the stairs.

He walked up the stairs, cringing at each creek. Until he got to the bedroom. He started to search through his bedside tables. He found, pens, papers, some money that he pocketed- he needed some, okay?- and a bunch of other junk. No diary.

He sighed and moved around the room. Until he opened a compartment in the wardrobe and it revealed a small safe. He leaned his ear against the safe and started to twist the dial. He sighed when he heard the click. He twisted again and click. Again, click. Again, click. Again, click. He smiled slyly when he pulled the door and the safe opened. Inside was a red leather bound book with two indents. This was it. He opened the book and smiled as he read a page about vampire facts. This was definitely it.

He quickly got out of the house and onto his bike. He rode quickly to the cave, eager to please the boys with his efforts. He really wanted to make it all up to them. He practically ran down the steps into the cave. "I've got it!" he proclaimed loudly. David suddenly appeared next to him. "I got it" he said, quieter this time. "Good job, Michael." he raised his hand to pat him on the back but quickly retracts it when he realized what would happen. "Did you read it?" Marko asked excitedly. "No I thought you guys should first. I just made sure that it was the right one so I read some vampire facts." He said. "And what did you find out?" Paul asked. "Just that you need blood to live, can't go more than a week without it and that you have a much higher tolerance for alcohol than a human but gets high at the same rate a human would." He smiled as he listed his facts. "Cute" David said and shook his head.

"Let's have a look then Mikey!" Marko said and then grabbed the book out his hands. "Ah-ha!! Vampire deaths!" he said a little too happily. Michael looked guilty but tried to hide it. He could see that David saw it but ignored it. "A vampire can be resurrected if their body isn't burnt by pure fire. Check! I guess electrocution doesn't count. They need to have some blood from whoever killed them on their dead bodies. The killer does not have to be dead, a small drop of blood will do. The ghost must lay in the body in order for the body to heal itself. It will only take a few minutes for the body to heal, as vampires have a quick healing time naturally." Marko read. All eyes were on Michael. "So... I can resurrect David right now?" he asked. Marko nodded. "Looks like you're getting that kiss sooner rather than later" David said with a wink. "No, not until everyone is back properly. I need to make right on my promise." He said, determined again. "Let's get to it!" Marko exclaimed.

They opened the bag that had David's body in it. "Wait! There's one more thing. The vampire in question must feed as soon as they wake up" Marko said. "It's fine, you can feed on me" Michael said towards all of them. "I owe you all. I will always be in your dept" he said honestly. David looked apprehensive but nodded. "Okay" Michael brought out the body and laid it flat on the floor. David laid into it. "This is weird" he said. Michael looked around and spotted the broken glass from the wine bottle he smashed, he cut his arm and dropped blood into David's mouth. They all waited in silence. Everyone held their breath.

David's finger twitched. Then his eye lids fluttered and he groaned. "David? How do you feel?" He smacked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "Thirsty" Michael instantly extended the arm that he'd cut previously as an offering. David opened his mouth and started to suck on the cut.

Michael hissed quietly and pushed the arm closer to David's mouth. His hands reached up and grabbed his arm. He then felt two fangs prick into his arm and the sucking grew. He sat down and let David eat. He started to grow dizzy but didn't stop anything. A moment later David stopped. "How are you?" Michael asked. "Still hungry but..." He smiled and laughed. "But alive, Michael. I'm alive!" he stood up and looked around. "I forgot about the smell of this place. Smells like us. All of us, even you Michael" he held out his hand and Michael took it, still slightly dizzy. David cupped his cheek and smiled. He wanted to kiss him so fucking badly. "Shit, David I want to kiss you. So badly." David nodded. "If you want to, you can. You don't have to resurrect us first" Dwayne said, ever the generous one of the group. "No, I made a promise, I'm gonna stick to it" he said. "Don't keep me waiting too long" David said. "Wouldn't dream of it."

"So, we need Sam's blood and Edgar's, right?" Michael asked. "Tell me how you died, Paul" Marko instructed. "Holy water. The dog pushed me in after I was about to kill those frog brothers" he said with a snarl. "Okay, so we need the dogs blood too" Michael said. "I'm going to need a syringe. How am I suppose to get Sam's blood. Jesus Christ" he swore under his breath and David put a hand on his shoulder Michael instantly leaned into the touch. "We kidnap Sam. We have too." Michael said. "We can't ask you to do that. I'll get the frog, you gently persuade Sam. I know you can. We should resurrect Dwayne first. He's my second, plus those two love birds have each other." everyone chuckled and agreed.

Michael's house

"Where have you been? Again Mike? Where are you going? What's so important" Sam asked. "I need to show you, Sam" he said. "No I want answers! Last time you avoided my questions we ended up with a back yard of Vampires!" Sam said. And then he gasped. "Are they back?" he asked, scared. "Sam I need you to come with me" he said. "I'm not going anywhere, are you helping them. Why? They tried to make you into a monster Mike! My own brother. What about David? He's evil!" Michael felt anger course through his body. "He's not evil! The people they killed were Nazi's!! He's not fucking evil" Michael nearly shouted. "Why are you defending him? What about Star?" He asked. "Because I love him! I fucking love him and we only need a drop of your blood to get his boys back and they only pray on those who deserve it! So please! I need one drop. Please, Sam. Please" he begged. "Okay, you can have a drop, I don't see how that could hurt. You can't bring a vampire back with only a drop of blood, they need to feed. There is also a huge ritual. I read it in the comic books." He said, as if he was speaking facts. This is the same book that said garlic was powerful. "I know, I'm just trying everything. I love him, Sam. All of them." he said, Sam sighed and nodded.

With a small bottle of Sam's blood, Michael made his way to the cave again. He was grinning as he walked into the cave. "David!" he said and went up to him to hug him. He buried his face in his shoulder. "I got Sam's blood." he said and held the bottle up. They pulled back and looked over to Dwayne.

Again, they got the body out the bag, he laid down and Michael put the blood in his mouth and then offered Dwayne his arm. He greedily sucked the blood from Michael, not as gentle as David but not exactly rough. He pulled back as Michael was getting dizzy. He stood up and hugged David tightly and laughed. He then grabbed Michael off the floor and hugged him too. "Thank you, Michael" he said. "No problem".

"So, who should we do next?" Michael asked looking at the two remaining ghosts. "Well, whilst you were out I grabbed myself a frog" David revealed and disappears out the room. He was tied to David's wheelchair. David removed the cloth from his mouth. "You idiots! You could have come back and none of us would have known. But now we're going to kill you again! And again!" David chuckled darkly at Edgar's courageous words. "Not if we kill you first" he said. "David, we can't kill him. He's Sam's friend" Michael said, avoiding eye contact. "He killed Marko. Tried to kill Paul. We'll leave your family but without those little assholes, none of it would've happened" Dwayne said and growled at the human in the chair. "Do what you need to" Michael said.

A second later Marko was sucking on his arm. "Cheers Mikey boy!" Marko said and hugged him. "No problem, Marko. I'm just glad I could help" Marko smiled a Cheshire Cat grin and turned and hugged Dwayne and David too. "So we just need Nanooks blood and you all are back." he looked over to David and he didn't look too well. "David have you fed yet? Other than on me?" he asked, David shook his head. "Wanted to do it together" he said. "Guess I've got to hurry up. Do you have like a needle syringe? To take the blood?" he asked. Marko held up a hand and rushed out the room. He came back with a medical needle in a seal. "Marko?" Michael asked, holding it in his hands. "What? You know that we can get high, we just don't have the human weakness of addition! It's fun but we mostly stick to weed" he shrugged and Michael rolled his eyes.

Michael started to sway on his feet and nearly fell, but David caught him. "Falling for me already, Michael?" he asked and chuckled. "I need to sit" he said, weight being supported. He guided him to the sofas and sat him down, David took the place next to him. "Marko, go get Michael some food" he instructed, Michael dug into his pockets and pulled out some money. "Here" he said and put it in David's lap. "I'm not taking your money, it's our fault your unstable from blood loss" Michael grinned. "It's Max's, I took it from his house" David chuckled next to him. "Regular little criminal we've got here. But you should still have it, you'll need it more than us" Michael reluctantly put it back in his pocket. "Get something sweet as well" he instructed, Marko nodded and went out the cave.

"I told Sam about you. Being back and stuff. He said his blood wouldn't make a difference, needed a whole big ritual apparently" David put his arm around Michael's shoulder and he, in turn, rested his head on David's shoulder. "Did you tell him anything else?" He asked, silently relishing in the close contact. "I told him I- that I love you" he revealed, turning his face more into David's shoulder. "Did you mean it?" He prodded. "I think so. I mean- what even is love? So I think so but not- I'm not certain" he said, shutting his eyes. "You think? Well, that's not very promising" he said, voice taking a teasing tone. "Don't make me say it, David. We haven't even kissed yet" David put his head on Michael's. "That was your choice, I am simply honouring it. We only have Paul left to bring back, that'll probably be tomorrow, right? We still sleep during the day so even if you got it tonight you'll still have to wait." He said. "I've waited too long" he mumbled, almost asleep. "Michael, you need to stay awake until you've eaten, okay?" Michael nodded. "I can't wait to kiss you" he said, tiredly. "Don't build it up, Michael. You could be disappointed." He said, bringing his hand up to run through Michael's hair. "I don't think I could be" he said.

Marko came back with food. "Chinese?" Michael asked, laughing. "Yeah man, you like rice, right?" Marko teased, "I also got you caramel chicken and a brownie for after" he said and set the brownie down on the table and handed the carton of food to him. "Thanks, Marko" he said and lifted his head off David's shoulder to sit up.

"How is it?" David asked, smiling. "Better than maggots" he said and chewed some more chicken. "Sorry about that. It was just a prank. We have special abilities, I can make you see what I want using the objects around you. Marko has compulsion, hence why we send him out to get food, for free. Dwayne can manipulate the elements, fire, water, that stuff. And Paul can read minds when he wants to. But we couldn't when we were dead, it's probably why he was harsh to you. He didn't know your intentions" he explained. "But I'm sorry for scaring you." He said, putting his hand on his leg. "It's okay, call it even" he laughed, feeling better now. "All good memories now, though" David said, a reminiscence smile on his usually cold face. "Definitely"

"Hey, how come you only decided to talk to me a week after you died instead of sooner?" Michael asked as he broke off a piece of his brownie and popped it in his mouth. "We weren't invited. But you said my name, called out to me. And suddenly I was able to talk back to you" he said. "But I only said your name, not Dwayne's or Paul's" he broke off another piece of brownie and offered it to David, he shook his head at the offer. "I guess we truly are a package deal" David looked over his shoulder to his boys. All of them at the back of the room on each other. Marko's head on Dwayne's shoulder and Paul laying on his back in front of them. He smiled at the sight.

"They're cute, I just need to get Paul back to life and boom. Your family is back together" it was bitter sweet to Michael, as much as he's happy for them, he ruined all chance to join them. "Ours. If you want it." David said. "I can't leave Sam behind like that, he deserves better than me already. I can't abandon him." He said regretfully. "You don't have to leave him Michael, even if you just joined us at night you'd still be part of the family. You've done so much for us" Michael scoffed and shook his head. "I ruined you, David. I killed your family. How could you forgive something like that? Not only forgive but you are welcoming me as if I did nothing wrong! You even-" he cut himself off. He didn't know David's feelings for him, he only knew his own feeling for David. "You brought us back. A lot of people would pretend it never happened and even if they could, they wouldn't bring us back." David put a hand on Michaels cheek. "Feel that? I'm back. Because of you." Michael leaned into the touch and smiled sadly. "Okay" he said with tears in his eyes.

After Michael finished eating, he knew the sun was due up in a couple hours. The others joined them on the sofa's. "Can you guys not kill froggy? I know he deserves it, but now he knows you can come back every time maybe he won't attack?" Michael asked. Everyone except Marko seemed enraged at the idea. "He killed Marko!" Paul shouted. "He would've killed all of us if he got the chance!" Dwayne growled. "He has a brother, a family and friends. If he died it would be for them how it was for you. I know he killed me but, look at me baby! I'm back! Flesh and bones! He thought he was protecting society. He didn't know these guys were fucking Nazi's and over all dickheads" Marko tried to defend. "Why don't we ask him?" David suggested. He didn't wait for acknowledgement, just wheeled the chair over and took the cloth gag off him.

"What do you say, Edgar? Will you give it all up? Remember, it's life or death." Michael asked, in the back of his head he thought of Max's dog. Maybe he could guard the cave during the day now that he has no owner. "Never. I'd rather die" he said, voice scratchy. "Come on you don't mean that. What about Alan?" Michael asked, desperate for a way to save this boy. "He would understand" although his face didn't looks convinced. "Can't we strike up a deal? Edgar, these aren't bad people. They kill because they need to. How is that different from having a bacon sandwich? They only kill people who deserve it. It just so happens that Santa Carla is the creep capital as well as murder capital of the world." Edgar seemed to think it over. "Okay, we won't kill you, as long as you don't turn anyone else. Not unless they want it" Michael smiled. "I knew you were smart. You can tell Alan, but only Alan. No one else." he had to make sure. "Yes, okay." Edgar agreed, begrudgingly. He untied him, "Now, get out of here" the frog brother ran out the cave.

"I wish you'd let me kill him" Dwayne said to Michael. "If you really wanted to, you would have. You don't have to listen to me, Dwayne" he said, standing up. "I should head back. I'll have Nanook's blood tomorrow for you, I promise" he said to Paul. "I can survive one more night, Mikey" Paul said. It was the first time he was nice to Michael.

Michael's house

Michael crept through the house. He hoped not to run into anyone. Tomorrow he would collect the blood and go straight to the cave.

He stumbled into his room to see Sam sitting on his bed. "Jesus, Sam. What are you doing?" He said as he laid on the bed next to him. "No, Mike, what are you doing?" He asked, poking his chest. "Going sleep" he mumbled, kicking off his shoes and groaning as he lived his head to put his arm under it. "Where were you?" He asked. "I told you, getting the boys back" he smile absent mindedly. "I thought you were crazy Mike! Wait until I tell the frog brothers!" he threatened. "Edgar knows, we've come to an agreement. With Max gone, they have no reason to turn anyone who doesn't want to be. They're not bad guys" he tried to convince Sam. "Is that why there are bite marks on your arm?" he asked, holding up the arm. "They had to feed. I'm the only human. And I offered. It's only Paul left." He smiled. "Okay, as long as they don't come after us" he said, getting up. "They won't" he replied. And Sam walked back to his own room.

Sun down

"Come on, Nanook. Sit still for me" he said, petting the dog lightly. He quickly drew the blood he needed and Nanook barked and whined. "I'm sorry, boy. I'm sorry" he said and massaged the wounded area. "Go find Sam" he instructed and the dog trotted off.

Michael hopped on his bike and rode away again. He barely had to look at the road he was taking to get to the cave.

"Boys?" Michael asked as he walked into the cave. "David? Marko? Paul? Dwayne?" When no one answered he started to panic. He ran around the cave shouting their names until he went into the part where they slept. He looked up and the three alive boys were hanging from the ceiling. He sighed in relief and decided to stay in the cave until they woke up. "Why are you helping us, Michael?" he heard someone say. He looked to his right and Paul was sitting next to him. "I owe you" he answered simply. "I don't believe you" he said simply. "When you've got your body back you can dig through my mind, but until everyone else wakes up you just have to trust me a little." he said, looking for any sign that Paul was ready for trust. Yet he wasn't.

"Michael?" David asked sleepily, coming over to the sofa and sat beside him. "Yeah, looks like I came too early" he said, leaning back. "Marko is still asleep, he'll be up in a few minutes though, don't worry" David looked at Paul and smiled. "Ready to come back?" he asked. "Never been more ready for anything in my whole life." he replied. "I got the blood. We can do it whenever you want." Michael said, he looked at his arms, the three different sets of fang holes. He ran a thumb over some of the wounds, he twitched at the most recent one. "Michael, you'll only hurt yourself. You won't have to do this ever again once Paul's back" David said and Michael instantly realized that he and David were going to kiss tonight. "Never again" he agreed. David smiles and held his hand.

A few moments later the other vampires walked out into the main space. "Come on then Pauly! Time for us to make out again!" Marko exclaimed and grabbed the last body. Michael laughed and tried to arrange the skeleton best he could. "okay just, lay down" Michael said, Paul nodded and did as he was told. Michael took out Nanooks blood and dropped it in his mouth and then offered his arm. Paul grabbed his arm and sunk his fangs in. Paul took the most blood by far, probably because his body had to heal more. Michael blinked slowly. "Paul, that's enough" he heard David tell him. But Paul didn't listen until Michael was on the floor, vision blacking out.

He heard voices, mainly blame and anger. Michael frowned, he didn't want anyone to be upset. Is it his fault? Because he's so human? He whimpered and tried to open his eyes, but everything was so bright. "Shh, it's okay, Michael." he felt someone pick him up and place him on a much more comfortable surface. "'M 'kay" he slurred. He tried to sit up but strong hands held him down. "Davihhhhh-" he tried to complain but David just chuckled lightly. "I'm sorry, Mike." Paul stepped forwards, regret evident in his voice. "I- uh- looked in your mind. I'm sorry." he said. So, Paul knew the truth now. Interesting. Michael wondered what else he found but dismissed the idea. He doesn't have any secrets anyway. "Isss okay, Paul" he said, picking his arm up and patting Paul's face. "Jus' glad you're back" he smiled and looked up at David.

"Drink" David said as he offered him a can of new coke. "This shits disgusting" Michael said and drank it. "I know, I know" David said. "How are you feeling, Michael?" he asked, combing his fingers through the brown curly hair. "Better. You're all back" he smiled and looked at David. "It's all thanks to you, Michael" he said. "You need to stop saying that. I was just giving what I owe" he said, putting his head on davids shoulder.

From the corner of his eye he can see Marko and Paul kissing, he smiled at the sight and his eyes drifted to Dwayne. Dwayne was looking at the two blondes with a sad expression. "Do you have someone special, Dwayne?" Michael asked. "I used to. She was the light of my life" he smiled, clearly reminiscing. "We both got into a car accident. She was driving, we went over, skidded on black ice. She was instantly dead. I was rushed to hospital. Max was a paramedic... the rest is history. I'm not interested in anyone else. Not yet" he said, sadly but Michael could tell he was glad to be alive and with the boys. "Thanks for telling me." Dwayne looked over at him, he wasn't expecting that reaction. He expected an 'I'm sorry' or a 'that's horrible', he much preferred Michael's reaction. "You're welcome" Dwayne said, shifting.

"We're going to feed. Do you want to come or stay here?" David asked, looking Michael in the eye. "I'll stay here, bring me back something?" Michael asked. "What do you want?" David asked, smiling slightly. "Burger? Pizza? Anything except magots and worms" David chuckled and nodded. "Of course, anything" he and the boys walked out the cave. Michael looked around once again. Marko's pigeons were flying about. Dwayne's books were stuffed into a cabinet. David's wheelchair that was more like a throne.

Michael closed his eyes and laid against the sofa. Some sleep wouldn't hurt. He didn't think the boys would be back for a few hours.

He woke up half hour later to some noise in the cave. Afraid it was the frog brothers, he peaked his head quietly over the back of the sofa. He saw David. Just David. None of the others. He was carrying a pizza box with a smile on his face. "Pepperoni ok?" he asked, setting the box down. "Yeah, thanks David. I'll pay you back, you've gotten me loads of food at this point" he said, opening the box and taking a slice. "No need, Marko got it" he smiled and watched as David took a slice too.

"So what now?" Michael asked. "What do you mean, Michael?" He asked. "Everyone's back. I half expected to be tossed aside by now" he mumbled self consciously. "Never, Michael. I meant it. You're one of us" he said kindly. "Still feels like a dream" he said, looking at David, having just finished his slice of pizza. "How can I make it feel like reality?" He asked, face inching closer. "David" he breathed out, he felt his heart beat racing and he knew David could here it. "Yes Michael?" He teased, bringing his hand up to Michaels hair and gripping it. "Please" their foreheads were touching now. "Please, what, Michael" he pushed. "Kiss me, David. Please" he said. David leaned in until their lips touched, then quickly pulled back. "Like that?" he asked, smirk evident in his voice. "No! More, please. Please, David. I want it" he grinned evilly and pulled Michael into him. This time the kiss started out slow, moving lips in sync with each other. However, it increased with desperation and desire. It was like everything in the world melted away, it was just Michael and David now. It was getting too much for Michael's human need for breath.

He pulled back and drew some deep breaths. "Fuck that was amazing" Michael sighed. "Still think you're not gay?" David asked caressing the back of Michael's head. "Nope. No- uhh definitely- definitely not straight" he chuckled and looked at his lap. "Good" David said before claiming his lips again. "I want this. I want this forever. I know I do, I'm certain" Michael said, putting his hand in David's. "Didn't turn out too well last time, now did it, Michael" David asked in a condescending tone, but Michael knew he was just teasing. "I didn't have a choice last time. I didn't have a purpose in the group. But now I do. David, I want you, I want this family. Forever. Please" he said, practically begging. "You broke the bottle, Michael. What do you want me to do?" he asked, throwing his head back and laughing.

"From you, please. I don't want to drink from a bottle, please." David had a moment of vulnerability. Then he nodded. He brought a long finger nail up to his neck and made a small slit. "You want it, Michael? It's there. Do it in your own time" Michael put an hand on David's chest and the other on the back of his neck. He leaned in and licked some of the blood that had spilled. He then sealed his lips over the slit and sucked. Only for a few seconds, then he pulled back. "Welcome, Michael. The boys will be ecstatic that you chose to join us this time." Michael looked into David's eyes. "I love you, David" he said and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. "I love you too, Michael. Forever"
