Chapter Text
Jedi Temple
Order 66
This wasn't happening. The Jedi Temple was her home, it was supposed to be safe. But every which way Mina Kenobi looked all she could see was destruction, and death.
Mina knew this was just a horrific nightmare, she would close her eyes and wake up curled up in the arms of the one man she trusted more than anything in the galaxy. Anakin Skywalker the man she loved and trusted with her whole heart and soul couldn't really be standing before her at this very moment. This was a trick, after all her Anakin wouldn't be proud of all this death and destruction caused in his wake. Proud of the innocents slaughtered by his lightsaber. Any moment now, she would wake up.
Except she wasn't going to wake up, because it wasn't a nightmare, it was real.
Her new reality.
And, she could feel her heart shattering into a million pieces.
Mina felt her eyes fill with tears, as she could feel through the Force, the pain, horror, and terror felt by her fellow brother and sister Jedi as they died. As the Force got a little emptier, a little quieter with every fallen Jedi. Yet, the most painful thing of all was the man standing in front of her, the one she felt she had known her whole life, the boy she had brought to the Temple, had fought with the Council to make sure he would be granted a place at the Order. Who had once looked on the Temple with awe and wonder, seemed to bask in the feelings of confusion and despair all around them.
"Get away from me." She heard herself say to Anakin. She saw hurt flash through his face, before anger took its place.
" You're my wife Mina, your place is by my side. Not to question me. Everything I have done, I have done for you!"
Mina felt her eyes widen, not able to believe the words coming out of his mouth. " Do you honestly believe that I could ever side with you after all of this?! " She gestured to the crumbling Jedi Temple around them. She turned her head to the side and flinched watching a fellow Jedi get struck down by a clone's blaster bolt.
"Did you imagine I would run into your arms and thank you for this? That I would step over the broken bodies of the people I grew up with to kiss you? The blood on your hands is now on mine too!" She let out a broken sob before taking a step forward, moving her arm towards her belt clip to pull out her lightsaber intending to join the fray and help as many of her fellow Jedi as she could. But, she barely took two steps, when she felt a hand grasp her wrist and pull her back harshly. She gave a grunt of pain after the back of her head hit one of the temple columns harshly, as she watched her only means of defense; her lightsaber roll away. She moved one of her hands from her side to attempt to pull the lightsaber back into her grasp but before she could try and pull her lightsaber back towards her with the Force, Anakin moved in front of her blocking her view and placed both of his arms by her head, caging her in, leaving her no room to wiggle away.
"This isn't about choice anymore, my love," Anakin sneered at her. "The Jedi are done after tonight, Baynetta and I will make sure of that. And, your punishment, for your disloyalty is that you get to watch it happen."
" Disloyalty? When have I ever-"
" You chose the Order over me, over us!" He roared in her face, and Mina couldn't help but flinch slightly in fear as his eyes briefly flashed Sith yellow before returning to their usual stormy gray.
He ran a hand through her hair possessively, locking eyes with her before grabbing a strand of her red hair, pulling it from her braid, and twirling it around his finger. He always loved to play with my hair. She thought absently to herself.
But, not to worry Mina, all will be forgiven tonight because there will only be one Jedi left, you. And, then you will have no choice but to come crawling back to me, back to my side, because there will be nothing else left for you. I will of course welcome you back with open arms. Because you belong to me, you always have since the moment we met all those years ago on Tatooine." He crooned to her, as she stared at him in horror, not recognizing the man in front of her.
" Who are you? You're not the Anakin I know. You're a monster." She whispered to him. You can't be the man I love, because what does that say about me? That I ever fell in love with someone like you. But, Anakin seemed unconcerned by her statement as he merely shrugged, before looking at something beyond her shoulder and smirking cruelly before bringing his attention back to her. " That hardly matters now, my little butterfly." Movement from their left caused them both to look away to see a clone trooper walk up to them.
"Lord Vader!" The trooper saluated, " Order 66 has been completed successfully. No Jedi remains alive in the temple. All that is left is this Jedi." He gestured to Mina before lifting his blaster and aiming it at her. She closed her eyes, relieved to not have to live after the massacre.
" Stand down trooper. Her life belongs to me." Mina snapped her eyes open to see Anakin watching her intently. She closed her eyes once more praying to the Force that the trooper would disregard what Anakin said and shoot her dead. But, it was not to be, the trooper merely saluated and walked away, taking Mina's hopes for release with him.
" Did you really think I would let you die after all of this? After everything I've done to keep you alive." He leaned in close to her, until there was barely any space between them, in order to pull her into a searing kiss before pulling away once more making sure to look her directly in the eye. " I paid for your life with the blood of the Jedi Order Mina. Would you really rather their deaths mean nothing?" He asked her cruelly.
" I'm already dead, Anakin. I'll never forgive you for this." Mina looked at him with dead eyes.
" Never is a very long time, Mina. We shall see if you can keep to your vow."
