Work Text:

Trey stood under the overhang of the steps of the Heartslabyul dormitory, one of the 7 Dorms at the ever so prestigious Night Raven College. A normal thing to do, really, for a heartslabyul student, except that classes were going to start in 5 minutes and it was pouring. Trey was going to ask Riddle for a spare umbrella, as the (not) short Dorm Leader had left on her usual schedule; Leaving an hour before classes started to make sure his… What were Riddle and Floyd, anyways? Friends? Lovers? That was the last thing on Trey’s mind right now, as all he could currently think of was the collar Riddle was going to slap on his neck for being late to class.

“Trey-kun!!” A loud yell of his name caused Trey to turn around, and see none other than Cater Diamond running towards him with a large smile on his face, and, thankfully, an umbrella.

“Ah, Cater… You haven’t left for classes yet? I can’t say I’m too surprised, though.” Trey spoke with a soft grin on his face.

“Ehehe… I actually didn’t sleep until almost 4am last night! Tragic, but I had to stay up for the release of this new sweater I wanted. It’s super exclusive to The Land of Hot Sands, and, like, timezones exist… Anyways, how come you haven’t left yet?”

“Cater, you can clearly see i’m not holding an umbrella. Don’t tease me, or I might have to tell Riddle about that failed exam of yours, that, might I add, you sent a Split Card clone to do?”

“Geez Trey… If you wanted to share an umbrella with your #SuperCute boyfriend, all you had to do was ask! Now get under here” Cater said, all while making faces that Idia would probably dub ‘super cringe’ and ‘not based’. Trey obliged, and, for no other reason other than to save space, wrapped an arm around Cater’s shoulder, causing the 3rd year to turn a very bright red and start stuttering.

“T-Trey! What’s with the sudden display of affection… you never do this, even in private! You always tell me to be reserved, cuz maybe Riddle would walk in, or-” Cater was stumbling over his words, unable to form a proper sentence until the boy just gave up and stopped speaking, looking down at the floor.

“Did you not want me to be more affectionate, darling?”

That sentence caused Cater to choke on his own spit and bury his face in Trey’s chest, the both of them oblivious to how much time had passed since they started flirting instead of going to class. The two were only snapped out of it when Trey’s phone buzzed, alerting him to a text message from Rook, that said something along the lines of “Rosé de Chevalier! Class had started, are you feeling unwell? Or is the little birdie correct, and you are instead with Monsuier Magicam, perhaps under the Heartslabyul overhang…? Anyhow, I shall see you in class soon!”
At this point, Cater still had his face buried into Trey’s chest, Trey was now blushing, because how the hell did Rook know that, but then again, this was Rook he was talking about. Trey gently nudged Cater with a very poorly held back smile and said “Come on, Cater. We should get to class.”

Cater obliged, held up the umbrella, and the two were on their way.

Notes:

the two did eventually make it to class, but not after blushing the whole way there and holding hands along the way.
