Chapter Text

“Imagine the headlines, Clark, Wayne Murder and Kidnapping Finally Solved. Interview with the lone survivor. ” Lois pitched to Clark as he sat at his desk working on his most recent report of the new zoning law for a new college campus being established.

“And how do you expect to get an interview? It has been almost 2 years since Bruce Wayne returned and he has denied any interview or press who has tried to approach him.”

Lois gave a mischievous smirk, “I have my ways.”

Clark quirked an eyebrow. “How so?”

Lois tried to play it off coy, but her contained excitement finally got away from her. “Bruce is finally opening up.”

This information caught Clark by surprise.

“He is having an interview, but he wanted it to be closed off. There was a lottery for which station would get the interview and the Daily Planet won.”

“That’s great news, but you are missing one thing.”

Lois looked at Clark like he just told her that he was actually an alien. Which he was…

“Even though the Daily Planet won, doesn’t mean you get the reporter position.”

Lois smiled mischievously again, “Oh I will. You and I both will.”

“How do you-?”

“Kent! Lane!” A short and stubby man opened a door with the name Perry White plagued on the front. “My office! Now!”

Still smiling, Lois winked at Clark and followed Perry.

Clark followed suit and was sitting at Perry’s desk with Lois beside him, watching her as she tried to once again hide her excitement.

“You’re on the Wayne case.”

Lois contained her excitement very well and she nodded politely. “Thank you, sir.”

“Don’t thank me. I wouldn’t be sending you greenhorns in, but you are the only Betas I have and Mr. Wayne specifically requested Betas and Omegas only.”

So that’s why Lois said this would be a guaranteed thing. Clark looked at Lois who discreetly winked at him. Lois was a Beta but Clark wasn’t. On his planet, there was no such thing as a second gender. He had no scent and since he had no scent, everyone labeled him as a Beta.

“Now, you two have been here long enough to know that this is the biggest interview of this paper’s run, don’t fuck it up and if you do, don’t come asking for your paycheck because there isn’t gonna be one, capiche?”

“Understood.” The two said in unison.

“Good. Details are in here,” Perry handed Clark a folder, “Please don’t fuck this up. Now get out of my office.”

The two reporters didn’t hang around for the editor-in-chief to tell them twice.
