Wanheda Returns

Summary:

Suspended from the ceiling is Clarke kom Skaikru. The Commander of Death. Wanheda. The Legendary Mountain Slayer. Shackles are tight around her wrists as sweat drips from her forehead. Her breaths are heavy and there’s a dull ache in her shoulders. Her chin was against her chest, her eyes squeezed shut from the pain that radiates through her body.

-----------------------------------------

After the mountain, Clarke learns more about herself. Learns more about the past. She learns she is much more than just Clarke Griffin. She learns that Lexa is much more than just Lexa Kom Trikru. Can she forgive the brunette for her betrayal even with her additional knowledge?

What will it take to achieve true peace? And together, will Heda and Wanheda be able to achieve it?

I really suck at summaries, read and find out :)

Notes:

New fic! Hope you guys enjoy!

I don't want to hear crap in the comments. Apparently, some people don't know how to read context clues *cough* the haters *cough cough* so I'll spell it out for them. This is a Clarke-centric story. I thought that would be unbearably obvious by the title "Wanheda Returns" but apparently not so there you go. Some of you have been reading my fics since I have started and I appreciate yall so much. I love Lexa with all my heart, anyone who knows me personally from my Instagram knows that. She doesn't mean any less to me than Clarke does but just listen for one god damn moment.

Lexa is a very stoic character. We all know that, the emotions are hidden behind a mask because she has to be Heda first which is so difficult to write, man. Second, I am not a political person and almost EVERYTHING that involves Lexa is based on politics so that also makes it difficult for me to write her. Third, it is so friggin difficult to write about a person with little to zero background. I give props to those who write Lexa-centric stories. I respect and love you with all my heart. Unfortunately, I can't do what they do. I'm trying to get there bro and your negative comments isn't helping. So for those of you who can't take hints. This is, again, C L A R K E C E N T R I C.

(I've been told the start is similar to that of 'Wanheda Awakens'. My start for this fic was not purposely similar to that of this amazing fic. I would hate to take ideas or props from the fic and or author. I love the fic btw <3 Honestly, this fic started like this from an idea i had for a much later chapter. I apologize to the author if this seems like I am rewriting your story, I promise this has a different plot and story line <3)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Free

Chapter Text

“Please don’t do this…” Clarke pleads as her life depends on it because in reality, it does. This decision will be the one that terminates her and her people. Tears prick her eyes and she can’t help as her face contorts into one of regret, sorrow, and betrayal. She feels a crack. A ripple. Bricks fall to the ground as she looks into the forest green eyes of the girl she has grown to lo- … Covered in blood, grime, and war paint, she sees the brunette’s lips move but the words drown from her ears.

“I’m sorry, Klark .” The girl says, her eyes attempted to hold remorse and apology but she doubted the blonde could see in her world shattering state. She thinks for a moment, she had already taken the deal and there was no going back… “... May we meet again…”

Clarke’s mouth hangs open in a silent plea, shock fills her and ice runs through her veins. She feels it again… More cracks as if a cement wall is about to tumble to the ground. Pain wracked her body even when she was left with no physical injury. She watched as the brunette turned her back and walked away from her, her warriors following directly behind her. Tears threaten to fall but the shock in her doesn’t let it. Slowly, she turns, her eyes locked on the mountain door. She hears the Skaikru members start to retreat, the girl she remembers as Monroe comes up to her, placing a hand on her arm. “Come on, Clarke… It’s over…” The girl starts to walk away.

She can’t help but catch the defeat in her voice. Her heart wants to give up, let go. There was no way she could win this right? She feels it again, this time physically. Her hand shoots up to her chest, gripping the cloth over her heart. She lets out a grunt as her face contorts into pain, her eyes squeeze shut as her mouth opens into a silent scream that can’t be contained. She had learned that people could die from broken hearts but not like this. Was she dying? The pain was unwavering as it burned her from the inside out. She falls to one knee, the pain radiates from her chest, she feels it ignite every nerve within her body. Another silent scream as she grips her shirt harder. Darkness seeps into her vision even as her eyes open. “W-what- …”

Purple.

It seeps into the oceans to create an amethyst-like glow with no traces of the warm blue waters in sight. A deep inhale is taken in by the figure as the hand releases the cloth on her body. Another deep inhale as she moves to stand. Purple swirls in those eyes until it forms a celtic knot as the figure bores onto the mountain’s entrance. “It can’t be over.”

She scans the surroundings, sifting through the blonde’s memories and plans. “Hm.” She then turns and starts to the reaper tunnels. Her heart is pounding as she walks, she takes her time, feeling the Earth beneath her feet again. She takes another deep breath, filling her lungs with fresh Earthly air she hadn’t had in ages. She silently hums as she looks down at her hands, clenching and unclenching as if to test the body, as if it couldn’t believe it was physical again. She enjoys it for a while until she meets a brunette girl in the reaper tunnels. She tilts her head slightly, shuffling through the blonde’s memories again. Ah yes, this is the girl she remembered to be Octavia. Sister to that brunette boy that sacrificed himself to the mountain. “You stayed.”

“Screw you, of course I stayed. I know where my loyalties lie.” Octavia retorts. Her brows furrow soon after as she squinted and honed in on the blonde’s eyes. “What the hell is up with your eyes?”

The blonde doesn’t answer, instead she looks past the brunette at the door that lays ever so blatantly in the cave. “We have to get in there.”

The brunette scoffs. “If that was possible, do you think I’d still be out here?” She says frustratedly. The blonde ignores the fire coming from the girl when she remembers that she is the same girl who was upset at Clarke for letting the missile hit TonDC. Octavia focuses elsewhere. “Why did Lexa sound the retreat?”

A snarl comes from her lips before she can stop it. “She made a deal with the mountain men, freed the grounders, and now we’re on our own.” She tries to push past the girl but Octavia pushes her back.

“Stop.” She says harshly. “They’ll know we are here.” Octavia grits as she looks back at the door before a certain someone pops into her head. She looks back at the blonde. “What about Lincoln? There’s no way he would have gone along with a plan like this.”

“He didn’t. They took him.” Her patience was running low so she tried to push through again and again she was stopped by the brunette. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

Purple meets green. A slightly darker green than she had met before on the outside of the mountain. “I need to get in there.” She says calmly. “I’m getting through that door.” She reiterates, ready to rip the door off its hinges.

“And what’s your plan?” She can see the hate and anger seep into the brunette’s eyes in slow motion. “Bellamy is counting on you. Everyone’s always counting on you .”

“Well, what would you like me to do, Octeivia ?” The blonde says as she bores into her eyes.

Octavia is taken aback. Since when did Clarke use Trigedasleng? And with her own people no less? She shakes the shock and returns more angered with more hatred in her eyes. “You trusted Lexa . You let a bomb drop on TonDC. You let all of those people di-”

The blonde cuts her off, almost glad that Clarke isn’t awake for any of this. “I am doing the best that I can.” She says calmly, her expression almost bored.

“Well, it’s not good enough.” Octavia growls.

She thinks for a moment. Using her head to think logically instead of lashing out in anger as the blonde would do. She knows when people feed into anger, it fuels the fire and she won’t let Octavia get that satisfaction, won’t let the brunette talk to her like that. “What would you rather me do, hm? Let your brother die in the mountain? Because if we evacuated the village then they would have known that we had an inside man. Would you rather evacuate the village and screw our only chance of taking down the mountain? Are you a leader, Octeivia ?”

Octavia looks at the blonde, baffled. Never had Clarke talked so coldly to her, so calm that it was terrifying. She took the brunette’s silence as an answer and that only angered her more. “No? Didn’t think so. Now-” The back of her hairs stood, her jaw tensed as her hand flew to Octavia’s shoulder and pulled her down so they were both behind the large metal bin. When she saw the brunette’s mouth open, her hand shot over it, silencing her. “Sh.” She can feel those green orbs glare at her but she ignores it as she discreetly peaks from the bin.

A hiss is followed by the groaning of old metal. She sees two people step out all in suits dragging something behind them. Octavia’s eyes widen as she watches the purple in her friend’s eyes glow ever so brightly, a celtic knot forms as the purple streaks run restlessly. The blonde’s jaw tenses, she uses all of her strength to stop herself from leaping into action as she sees how her fellow grounders, her brothers and sisters are being treated. She can feel the fire that rushes through her veins and she struggles to stomp them down, gritting her teeth.

The men discard what they are dragging, a lifeless body of a grounder, into the bin and start to walk back. When they step into the door, a snarl rips from her throat and she sticks to the shadows as she pushes towards the door. Octavia scrambles to get up, her eyes still wide as she takes in the speed in which her friend just ran. She sticks her foot as a wedge, keeping the door from closing.

“What the-” Is all one of the mountain men can say before the door flings open. The blonde with glowing purple eyes stare at them, a malicious grin on her face as she raises her hand and waves at them. “Well, hello there.” She moves at lightning speed and grabs both of them, throwing them through the threshold of the door once again. She steps out, the door closing behind her. She bores down at them, murder in her eyes. Her fists are tight by her side as her anger flares. “So you think that you are superior huh? You think that you can just treat another living being as you please just because they are different from you?” She tilts her head, giving her a psychotic look.

“The savages are still here?!” One of the mountain men exclaimed.

“Clarke! What are you doing?!” Octavia scrambles up and walks over.

“Savages, huh?” A grin comes to her lips as she ignores who Clarke calls her friend. In her head, the knowledge she knows of friends, Octavia wouldn’t berate Clarke as she had as if she was superior if she were her friend. “It is time for all of you to pay.” She practically growls as she leans down and grips the masks that they have on. She hears their protests and pleads as she rips them off. In less than a second, the mountain men begin to scream as boils grow on their skin, blood runs from their eyes and they choke on the very air that is their home. She looks down at them stoically, not a single bit of remorse in her eyes. Well, maybe a bit, that is a part of Clarke which will never change and she hates the blonde for having such a great heart but she also knows that is what makes her such a great leader.

“What the hell, Clarke?!” Octavia says angrily. It is not that she is mad that her friend just killed two people. No. No… It is much more than that… The brunette clings to her anger out of fear… How could anyone kill with such little remorse…? Even if they were bad people, she would lie if she said she hadn’t felt bad for them.

Again, she ignores Clarke’s friend as she bends down and grabs the key card on one of their belts. Something she remembered Clarke talking about. She walks up to the door and swipes the card, the door opens and she steps in, not even waiting for the brunette but nonetheless she follows. Octavia tucks the fear and anger away, knowing that she had to follow if she had any hope of saving their people. She would have to ask Clarke later about those damn terrifying ass eyes and the cold murder.

The blonde looks through the window of the door and sees two guards with guns standing there. Well, there goes just going in. She scans the small decontamination room they are standing in. She sees a vent so instinctively, probably from Clarke, she rips it open. The screws fall to the floor, again leaving Octavia in awe and fear. She then squeezes herself into the vent, the brunette following soon after.

“So what’s the plan?”

“We kick some ass, get- what was his name again? Monty. Get him to the control room and we go from there.” She says, replaying Clarke’s plan in her head. She has no sword, she does have Clarke’s gun and Lexa’s dagger. The blonde’s heart aches as she feels the steel blade burn through her clothes on her thigh. “Simple. Kick first, ask questions later. Everyone is down in level five so we avoid level five. Jasper and Monty and the others have fought them off of whatever level they are on so we go there and help them. You help the delinquents while I get Monty to the Control Room.”

“Easier said than done.” Octavia scoffs as they continue down the vent system.

She ignores her as they continue. They then come to a moment where the vent goes straight up. Haven’t done this in awhile. Hopefully I still know how to- Just then she pushes a bit too hard on the vent and it indents under her strength. Octavia stares with wide eyes. “What the hell, Clarke!” She whispers harshly.

“Oops. Let’s try this again.” She grunts as she sets her hands on opposite sides of the vent again and begins to ascend the vent slowly, using her boots as extra grip as they scale up. Like spiders without sticky limbs, they climb up the vent. Octavia tucks the surprise into the ever growing file of ‘What the hell, Clarke’s’ and decides to ask later because they have more important tasks at hand. They climb for a while, sweat drips from their heads from the growing heat and energy exerted from scaling.

She knows her friends and Clarke herself will have many questions, she will just have to explain to the blonde later and maybe she can translate to her own friends. They finally make it to the part of the vent where it turns horizontal again and both her and Octavia are glad. They crawl down the space and she looks down to find LEVEL 6 written on the wall in all caps. She can see some of the guards. She looks back at Octavia who quickly has determination running through her features. They both nod at each other before the blonde elbows the vent, making it break off the screws and hit a guard in the head, instantly knocking him out. The other guards are alerted and watch as two girls drop down from the vent.

The blonde has a grin on her face as Octavia gets up and charges them. She lets out a warcry as she uppercuts one guard and slides to the other, sweeping him off his feet. The blonde smirks, she’ll have to meet with the girl’s fos. Indra shall be happy that her seken is a very skilled fighter. She runs into actions, taking any guards that manage to get past the skilled warrior. She unsheathes Lexa’s dagger from her thigh and slashes her way through guards before unholstering Clarke’s gun and shooting the far ranged guards with guns of their own down.

Octavia looks back at the blonde when a guard behind her drops and nods at her as thanks before dipping back into action. She reciprocates the nod before bursting into each and every room, no one is found in each one. She grits her teeth before she hears a thump in the vents. She clocks her head up, seeing a pair of eyes staring down at her.

“Clarke?”

“Jasper?” It was Jasper right? Clarke’s memories told her she was right. “Where is Monty?”

“He’s headed to the control room. Bellamy is waiting for you by the elevator. I have a walkie on me, I’m headed to where Cage is to try to get intel on where they took our people.” Jasper explains their plans to the blonde.

She nods. “ Mochof . (Thank you.)” Shit, did she just do that again? She had to work on that, she was better than to let herself slip. He doesn't have a chance to reply as she bolts to the elevator. She turns the corner to see Clarke’s friend standing in the Mountain Men’s uniform with an assault rifle in his arms.

“Clarke!” The boy runs up to her and envelops her into a hug. She tenses in the embrace before awkwardly patting his back. He gives her a weird look as he pulls away before it slips from him. “What the hell is with your eyes, Clarke?”

She ignores him, they don’t have time for it.“I need to go see someone first. Someone who will think logically.” She says and he nods his understanding, following her. They get to the room and she barges in. There sits the man who once led the mountain. His white hair makes him stand out amongst others. “Dante.”

“Clarke Griffin.” He greets dully.

“Tell your people to stand down and let my people go.” The blonde says as she stalks closer.

He shakes his head lightly as he gets up. “Cage won’t give up, Ms.Griffin. This is the only way our people will survive. Your people are the key to our people’s survival.”

She scoffs. “Bellamy, take him with us.” The boy nods as he grabs the old man’s arm and drags him out, following Clarke. She leads them towards the control room, her memory of the layout burned in her head by Clarke’s past need to study the map for a way out. “Check him for a key card.”

Bellamy pats the man down and finds the key card Clarke was talking about. As they near the control room, he tosses it to her. She catches it and unsheathes her dagger again, gun still in hand. She scans the card and rushes in, all of the people in the control room turn to her. Before one of the guards can even make a go for his gun, she empties a bullet from the chamber, making a perfect hole between his brows. Bellamy winces at the violence as she shoots the remaining two in the room. “Monty, I know you’re up there.” She says, her voice softer than when she spoke to Octavia and Bellamy.

The vent pops open and the boy's head hangs down. “Hey, Clarke.” He smiled at her before it faded into shock. “What’s up with your eyes?”

She internally rolls her eyes. “Later. Can you come down here and do your tech thing?”

“On it.” With the blonde’s help, he gets down unharmed. The blonde pushes the lifeless body out of the control room seat and Monty uncomfortably takes a seat. He starts typing away on the keyboard as Bellamy shoves Dante into an empty chair pointing his gun at him.

She stares at the screen. “Get me eyes on our people and Cage. See if you can find the channel they’re on too so I can talk to them.” Monty nods as he continues to work on the computer. After a few moments, cams pop on on the screen, one of the people in the dining hall, one on Cage, and one of their people suffering in a separate room. Purple swirls through her eyes once again, flaring up. She grits her teeth as her knuckles turn white around the dagger and her gun.

She then heard Dr.Tsing’s voice come into the radio.

*crackle* ‘Cage, where did you move Project Truculentus Sanguis ? I need another sample.’

“What the hell is she talking about?” Monty and Bellamy turn to the blonde while President Dante turns pale or, paler than he already is.

Project Truculentus Sanguis ? Truculentus… That means savage in Latin and Sanguis … Blood.” She says absentmindedly.

“Since when did you learn Latin?” Bellamy’s brows furrow as he looks at her.

“Nevermind that.” She turns to Dante and points her gun at his head. “What is she talking about?”

The man stays silent which makes her grit her teeth as she slams the butt of her gun into his face. He grunts on impact as she walks back to Monty.

‘It was moved to level ten. Do it quickly.’

“Get me to level ten and keep an eye on them.” The blonde says as she starts to head out.

“Wait!” Monty pulls her back, she turns to him as he tosses her something. The blonde recognizes it as an earpiece, she puts it in, giving him a nod before leaving. While Bellamy keeps an eye on Dante and Monty hacking into their mainframes, she will be going to find out what Project Truculentus Sanguis is. She hears Monty in her ear every turn she makes. Going down to level ten required her to once again use the vent system. The gloves Clarke has on helps her slide down with no burns whatsoever.

“Alright.” She whispers as she peers through the vents. “I’m at level ten. Monty, look for something suspicious or out of place. I need to find what that damn project is.”

She hears Monty typing away on the keyboard as she continues to look. “Wait. Nevermind.” She watches as Dr.Tsing walks down the hall. She pops the vent open as softly as possible before dropping down, her feet barely making any noise as she lands. She darts into the shadows when Tsing looks behind her. Keeping her breathing steady, she slowly follows the woman down the hall, the door hisses open when the woman swipes her key card. She slips in as the doctor continues her path down the now freezing room.

What she sees makes her stomach churn, anger flares through her veins, her hands ball into fists as she grits her teeth. Purple forms the usual celtic knot in her eyes as a very low growl vibrates through her throat. Had she not reined it in, she would have snarled.

“Please…” The little girl’s hoarse and weak voice comes to her ears.

The doctor raises her brow as she prepares a syringe. She brings the walkie to her mouth. “I’m about to take the sample. I’ll be there in a few.” The walkie talkie clicks as she puts it down and turns to the girl who lies on the table, chained down by her wrists and ankles. She pokes the syringe into the girl's arm and begins to extract her blood.

A natblida…? She can’t watch anymore, the passion from Clarke and the protectiveness from herself drowns her. Blood bludgeons her ears as she growls and surges forward. Her fist immediately connects with the doctor’s cheek. The girl on the table whimpers as the needle is jostled in her arm. The blonde quickly removes it, breaking it in her hands so the sample can’t be used. Black liquid drips from her hands.

The doctor scrambles backwards. “You?? How the hell did you get in here?!” She goes for the walkie but the blonde kicks it out of her hand. Tsing gets up and tries to tackle her, pushing the blonde into the wall and eliciting a grunt from her. Clarke sends her knee up, hitting the doctor in the stomach before grabbing her and throwing her into the wall. The older woman cries out as the blonde stalks closer, a low growl reverberating from her throat. She pulls the woman up by the collar of her shirt, pinning her to the wall. “What is Project Truculentus Sanguis ?”

The woman swallows roughly as she stares into the blonde’s eyes. “Wh-what are you…?”

The purple in her eyes flared brighter, the celtic knot becoming unmistakeable. “Your end.” She said terrifyingly calm. With that, she pulled back and slammed the woman against the wall, effectively knocking her out. She took a deep breath, wincing at the biting smells of the medication and metal surrounding them. She then remembers the girl, she runs over to her, her hand coming up to gently cup her cheek. “Hey, I’m not going to hurt you.” She says softly.

The girl looks tired and exhausted as she looks up at her, her breaths coming out hoarsely as if she hadn’t had anything to drink in months.

“What did they do to you…” She asks softly, tears prick her eyes. She reaches down and unclips Clarke’s water skin from her belt and gently helps the girl drink. She is hesitant at first, no doubt having trust issues from whatever the mountain men did to her but she somehow finds comfort in those now softly glowing purple eyes. “You’re going to be alright… They won’t hurt you again.” She says with certainty.

‘Hey, Clarke. Did you find anything? We need you back up here. Our people…’

She can hear Monty grit his teeth. She puts her hand to her ear. “Yea, I found her. Coming back to you now.” She looks down at the girl. “Our people are dying in this mountain and I won’t let them harm you. I am going to take you with me okay?” Once the girl gives a weak nod, she breaks the shackles that hold her wrists and ankles before scooping the girl into her arms. She looks through the papers on the counter, her stomach churns as she looks at all of the experiments. Apparently, they wanted to learn how nightbloods could heal so fast and take it for themselves.

She scoffs in disgust. “Let’s get out of here.” She then catches the woman on the floor. The doctor knows about too many dangerous experiments and she has experimented on her people. She deserves to die. That thought makes her nose twitch in anger. She crouches down, pushing the girl's head into her neck to hide her away from what she is about to do. She then unsheaths Lexa’s dagger and runs it across the doctor’s throat. Red pools onto the floor as she cleans the dagger on the woman’s pants and resheaths it before carrying the girl out of the room, heading back to Monty.

She pops back into the vent. Shit . She looks down at the girl. “I’m going to need you to hang on to me okay?” The girl gives another weak nod before wrapping her skinny arms around the blonde’s neck. She keeps a hand on the small of the child’s back as she starts to scale up the vents. Low grunts elicited as sweat dripped down her head. “How far am I from you?”

‘Not far, just keep going.’

She finally finds the horizontal of the vents and climbs her way back to Monty and Bellamy. She drops down, going down with the momentum to not jostle the child. “Bellamy.”

“Holy shit, where did she come from??” He runs over to her, looking down at the child.

“Those bastards were experimenting on her. She was Project Truculentus Sanguis .” She looks down at the girl. “This is my friend, Bellamy. He won’t hurt you, okay?” The girl looks at him before looking back at the blonde, the purple bringing her comfort again. The blonde carefully transfers the child into the boy’s arms. “Be careful with her. I don’t know what the hell they did to her but they’ll pay.” She growled lowly. She walks back over to Monty and her eyes widen at the screens. A girl she remembers as Raven was being strapped onto the table. “Give me the walkie.” She all but snarls. Monty hands it to her before continuing to type away on the keyboard.

Her nose scrunches up in anger as she brings the walkie up to her mouth. “Emerson. … Carl Emerson, Mount Weather security detail, come in.” She glares at the screen. She sees the man take the walkie with dread running through his features.

‘Who is this?’

“You know who it is. Give the Radio to the president.” She sees the man move off camera before she can shoot a look at Monty, he had already switched to another camera angle. Cage takes the walkie from Emerson and takes a moment to compose himself.

‘This is President Wallace.’

“I have your father. If you don’t let my people go, I’ll kill him.” She says calmly. She sees the tension that enters Cage’s body.

‘How do I know you have him?’

She rolls her eyes and turns to the old man still seated on the chair Bellamy had put him in earlier. She holds the walkie up to him. “Stay the course, Cage.” She raises a brow before punching him and turning back to the camera to look at Cage.

‘You won’t do it.

“You are dealing with a very different person, Mr.Wallace.” She says nonchalantly. “Although, I don’t think you know me very well.” Clarke would have done it regardless, her people were in danger and any risk and action was necessary to save them. “You can stop this if you just let my people go.” She turns back to the old man.

“It would mean the end of our people.” Dante says. “You cannot do anything, Ms.Griffin.”

She raises a brow. “Watch me.” She walks over to him, unsheathing Lexa’s dagger once again. “Choose, President Wallace.”

Silence. The silence rings through their ears but none louder than the blonde’s. “Fine.” She holds the walkie button as she slides her blade against the old man’s throat. Gurgles are heard as the man chokes on his own blood. The blonde watches as the life drains from Dante’s eyes.

‘Dad… I’ll take care of our people.’

Bellamy and Monty make a face at Clarke but she doesn’t care. Not really. These people were using hers as blood bags and now for their bone marrow. She feels no remorse for the man she just killed coldly as she turns back to the monitor. “Listen here very closely, President Wallace. I will not stop until my people are freed. If you don’t let them go,” She pauses, looking at Monty before returning her gaze to the screen. “I will irradiate level five.”

She sees Cage talk to Emerson before he grabs his gun and gathers a few men, running out of the camera’s view.

“Emerson is coming for us.” Bellamy says sternly, still holding the child.

The blonde looks at Monty. “Can you disable their key cards?”

“Pfft. Easy.” Monty grins as he begins to type away again. There is a beat of silence. Silence that blares in their ears. She lowers her gaze to Monty again. “Can you do it, Monty? Irradiate level five?”

Monty nods slowly. “I can do it.”

“Wait, Clarke. Think about this.” Bellamy steps closer.

“I am.” She says plainly.

“There are kids in there…”

“I know.”

“And people who helped us.”

“Do you have a better idea, Bellamy?” She raises a brow. His silence is the only answer she needs as she turns back to the screen. In the same moment, she watches as Cage takes Raven off the table and puts Clarke’s mother on. “No…” She grits her teeth. Blue seeps into purple again, both still visible in her eyes.

‘Don’t do anything yet! I can save them!’

“Jasper?” Clarke fights with herself now, tears brim her eyes as she watches her mother get drilled into and cry out in agony. No, she has to. To save her people. There are kids down there… People who helped us… She couldn’t take the risk of waiting for Jasper’s plan, whatever it was. She hears Monty stop typing. She turns to him. “Why did you stop??”

Monty swallows softly. “Because I did it… All we have to do is pull this lever…” He gestures to it on the table next to them. “The vents will open and the scrubbers will reverse, pulling air from the outside.”

Bangs are heard against the door. Emerson is here.

“We’re out of time.” Bellamy whispers.

Purple swirls alive in her eyes as she places her hand on the lever. She pulls the walkie up to her mouth. “This is your last chance. Get your fucking hands off my mother.” The drill continues and with one last scream from her mother, she says fuck it and pulls the level. It happened as Monty said. The vents opened and the fans reversed, pulling air from the outside. One by one, she saw the mountain men collapse. Screams can be heard ringing through the halls and speakers, boils appear on their skin as blood runs from their eyes. Clarke feels a twinge of pain in her heart as she watches them die. Octavia comes in just in time to kill the guards at the door in hazmat suits. Clarke walks over to Bellamy and takes the girl into her arms. “Go with O and get our people out of here.”

“What about you and Monty?” Bellamy asks as he opens the door for Octavia.

“I need Monty to do some things for me first, we’ll meet you outside.”

“What the hell did you do, Clarke?” Octavia narrows her eyes, staring at her.

Clarke doesn’t answer as Bellamy pushes Octavia out to go help their people. She holds the child close as she takes a seat next to Monty.

“What do you need from me, Clarke…?” Monty says solemnly, obviously mourning what they had just done.

Clarke didn’t have the luxury. She sighed softly as she looked at the screen. “I want to make sure I’m the only one who can access the mountain.” Monty gives her a slow nod before going back to typing. Clarke waits patiently.
