Work Text:
FIRST YEAR – SEPTEMBER
Levi noticed Eren the first time he saw him. He noticed his bright eyes, specifically. Levi’s uncle, Kenny, brought he to the 9¾ platform but didn’t bother to stay enough. Levi didn’t care, he was surprised Kenny even brought him there in the first place. Before getting on the train, that’s when he saw Eren for the first time. A tall woman was hugging him, probably his mom, an older boy with blond hair talked to a man with glasses watching the scene with a smile. Levi couldn’t help being jealous looking around and watching all those happy families. Life was unfair sometimes. At least he had magic.
In the train he met Erwin Smith, a tall boy with a lot of knowledge. Levi listened quietly while Erwin talked about Hogwarts. It was his first year, but his father used to teach there, he said. Levi didn’t know much about the school. His uncle was an Auror, Merlin knows how he made it, and never said much to Levi. But Kenny wasn’t there now. Now Levi could meet people, and maybe, those people wouldn’t go away.
“Slytherin” the hat had said out loud. Levi then sat in the cheerful table, beside Erwin. All houses seemed pretty inviting of the new students, Levi thought, as an Asian girl with black hair sat in the Gryffindor table.
“She’s an Ackerman as well, relative of yours?” Erwin asked.
“I don’t know… maybe.” He said, analyzing the kids that still had to be sorted. Green eyes was still there and when it was his turn, he could hear some murmurs in Slytherin’s table.
“Zeke, I didn’t know your brother was 11 already!” Someone said to a blond guy who had a badge in his robes that indicated that he was the Prefect of the Slytherin house, Levi recognized him from the platform.
“He said he was going to Gryffindor for his Bravery.” Zeke snorted.
“What do you think?” a girl besides him asked.
“Well Hitch, the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.”
And just a few seconds later Eren Yeager walked towards the Slytherin table and sat in front of Levi. He didn’t look quite happy, but the table still welcomed him very joyfully, especially his brother’s friends.
Eren said hellos to the older students and then smiled a little to Levi.
“Hey, nice to meet you.” He extended this hand. “I’m Eren.”
Levi shook his hand and introduced himself.
And so, it began.
SEVENTH YEAR - FEBRUARY
“Eren.” He called for the fourth time and threw a pillow in his roommate’s head.
“Ouch.” Eren opened his eyes slowly. “What time is it?”
“We have Muggle Studies in 20 minutes.”
“Fuck. Sorry.” Eren got up in a second and immediately cringed. “Shit, my head hurts.”
Levi stared at the other side of the room when Eren took off his shirt and started putting his robes on.
“You told me you were never going to try anything a Hufflepuff would offer you again.” Levi said.
“You smoke too!” Eren accused and started putting his shoes.
“I know how to control my shit.” Unlike you Levi thought while Eren put his hair in a bun, and they started walking out of the room in a hurry.
“I think I’ll pass out.” Eren said.
Levi casted a quick healing spell as they walk.
“You’re the best.” Eren gave Levi a smile and the raven boy tried his best to not let his heart skip a beat.
Some would think that after years of loving your friend in secret you would get used to it. But it is not the case if said friend is Eren Yeager. Because to Levi, Eren was the most amazing person. Even when Levi wanted to kick his ass, he still loved the boy endlessly.
Before they could reach the front door some steps behind them could be heard and stopped abruptly. Levi turned around and saw Ymir trying to hide Historia behind her.
“Head boy! Late for class? Now that’s a bad influence.” She grinned.
“At least try to pretend that Historia didn’t spend the night in a dorm that isn’t hers so I can pretend I don’t see it.” He said as he opened the door.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Ymir said.
Levi just ignored her and speeded up, holding Eren by the sleeve.
“Your ties are switched!” Eren shouted and the girls looked down. Ymir quickly took off the red tie.
Levi must admit they were very cute. Probably the cutest and most annoying couple in Hogwarts. In his opinion Historia was too good for Ymir but then again there was he, completely in love with an idiot.
During class Eren was all better again but Mikasa glared when they arrived, and Levi knew he would hear something from her. She was one of Eren’s best friends and cared about him deeply.
“What happened last night?” she asked after class.
“Dumbass smoked something a Puff gave him. Again.” Levi said while putting his things in the bag. Eren looked at him with a betrayed look.
“Eren! It’s a Thursday, I told you to not go to parties in the middle of the week.” She scolds him. By the look at Eren’s face he wasn’t really caring about the rebuke. “And you Levi, I thought you were taking a better care of him.” Eren opened his mouth to speak something.
“He is not a child Mikasa.” Levi said and Eren shut his mouth and nodded.
“Carla loves you and trusts that Eren will not get into trouble because you take care of him.”
Carla is an angel, Levi thought. He spent most vacations and holidays at the Yeagers since Kenny is always busy somewhere. He loved that family and the time he spent there, even if it meant to deal with Eren’s annoying stepbrother.
“He’s not in trouble. See: he came to class just in time.”
Before Mikasa could say anything, Jean appeared behind her and puts his chin on her shoulder.
“Great party, right? Even Armin was having fun.” He laughed.
“He deserves some stress relief. Ravenclaw only won last week’s game because he’s a great strategist. Well, that and Hange being badass as always.” Eren said and got up, they started walking out of the class.
“Don’t worry, next game we’ll get them.” Levi said and Eren smiled at him.
“And Gryffindor will end Hufflepuff next game.” Jean smiles at his girlfriend.
“If you guys win then maybe you can get to second place by the end of the season.” Eren smirked and Mikasa punched him on the arm. “Ouch woman!”
“You asked for it.” She rolled her eyes.
-
Things started going down the next day when they went to Divination class. Erwin was usually Levi’s partner because they were both terrible at it and couldn’t care less about predicting the future. Unfortunately, Erwin was out of Hogwarts because of an important family situation, Levi didn’t know the details, but they would certainly talk about it later. Levi didn’t mind being alone, it wasn’t like he paid much attention to what Professor Trelawney said, but apparently, he couldn’t stay alone because they would learn a new subject today.
So that’s how Levi ended up with Hange and Eren. Which wouldn’t be a problem since they were close but both Hange and Eren were quite good in Divination and took it far more seriously than Levi ever did.
"Everyone, prepare to be mesmerized by the subject of Capnomancy.” The professor started talking. “The art of reading smoke patterns. Unfortunately, I see that one of your number will set the tablecloth on fire during this lesson. Please don’t be alarmed." He started demonstrating the process.
Levi tried to read Eren’s smoke but honestly, he couldn’t get much of it. Surprisingly, Eren didn’t get frustrated about Levi’s poor interpretation, he just laughed when Levi said that the smoke looked like shit so he would probably have a diarrhea very soon. Eren’s reading for Hange was obviously better, he analyzed the direction and speed of the flames and smoke, he tried understanding the patterns and figures that appeared and Levi must say he was impressed.
When it was Hange’s turn to analyze Levi’s smoke Eren was called by the professor and left the table for a few minutes. Levi set the seeds in front of him on fire and crossed his arms waiting for Hange. His smoke was fast and thin. It went up very fast and traveled around the room spinning in the air, he could see it spreading so much it reached Eren in the other side of the classroom. Levi had no idea what it meant but when he looked at Hange and saw their creepy smile, he was very afraid to discover.
“So… How long have you been in love with Eren?”
Levi’s eyes widened and before he could think about it his body went towards Hange to shut their mouth up with his hand but in the process, he knocked most things on the table.
“Fuck.” He said as the flames fall onto the table.
And that’s how Levi accidentally set the tablecloth on fire during Divination class.
-
Hange spent the whole History of Magic’s class convincing Levi that they would never tell a soul.
“But you should tell him.” They whispered.
Levi tried to focus on whatever the Professor was talking about Emeric the Evil, but Hange just kept going.
“He never pays attention to any of his admirers and just hangs out with you, and you know he gets hit on all the time.” They pointed. “Armin was even telling me how you two are always together.”
“And if I want us to continue like this, I’ll just keep my mouth shut.” He whispered.
“I just want you to feel loved.” They spoke.
Levi looked at them and let his eyes wonder to where Eren was sitting with Armin.
“I’m just glad to have him in my life. But thank you, shitty glasses.” He said and was thankfully saved by the professor asking him about the Elder Wand before Hange could get emotional.
-
They practiced Quidditch on the weekend. The whole team was too excited for the next match to even relax. Erwin was the best captain he has ever heard of in their house. Slytherin had the bad reputation of winning by cheating but everything was different. And Levi may be biased, but in his opinion Eren was the best seeker ever. Fuck Harry Potter.
In the evening Levi was organizing some Head Boy reports by the fireplace in Slytherin’s common room. Eren was hanging out with Mikasa and Armin so he could focus more on his duties. He almost didn’t notice when Erwin sat next to him.
“So…” the blond started.
Levi hummed but kept his eyes on the papers.
“You know you’re one of my best friends, right?”
Levi hummed again.
“And you can tell me anything, right?”
Levi frowned and left the papers aside.
“Just go straight to the point because as you can see” he pointed at the papers “I’m quite busy.”
Erwin coughed and looked around before saying.
“When are you telling Eren?”
Levi just stared at him, frowning.
“You are telling him, aren’t you?” Erwin continued.
“What exactly I’m supposed to tell Eren?” He looked blankly at the blond.
“That you’re in love with him, obviously.” Erwin said.
Levi closed his eyes tightly for a second and let a sight out loud.
“Did four-eyes tell you?”
“Hange? No…” Erwin laughed quietly. “You are one of my best friends.” He repeated. “I just can read you well. But to be honest, I think most students think you are together.”
Levi took a deep breath and looked down at his reports again.
“I don’t think I can tell him now.” Levi said. “I only have a few more months with him, I don’t know what’s happening after graduation. But if I tell him…” He felt a shiver just by thinking about it “If I tell him and he rejects me I don’t know how I would deal with months without him by my side.”
Erwin tightened his lips but nodded.
“I don’t think he would ever reject you. But I understand why you don’t want to deal with this now.” He gave Levi a pat on the shoulder. “If you need to talk, I’ll be here.”
Levi nodded as Erwin got up and goes to his room. Levi waited a few seconds to calm his heart again and took a deep breath before continuing to organize the reports.
During the rest of that week, he spent more time with Hange and Erwin than before. Not just because of their awareness regards his feelings for Eren but mostly because he wanted to enjoy their time at school during this last year. Eren is the best part of his days, but they still are his best friends.
“You are spending a lot of time with Erwin and Hange.” Eren said during lunch on Wednesday. “Should I be jealous? Am I being replaced?”
Levi’s lips lift a little as he finished his food.
“Well, they sure are better in potions than you are.” He spoke.
“Shut up, my wolfsbane potion worked perfectly.” Eren hit him playfully on the shoulder, Levi looked at him with a scowl because of that.
“Hopefully we can finish our Veritaserum before Gryffindor.” He spoke. “I don’t know how Braus and Springer got so good in potions out of nowhere but I’m getting these extra points.”
Eren smiled at him as he finished his food as well.
“I’m pretty sure they had a bit of Felix Felicis last week. They were too good at all classes from what I heard.”
“Who brew Felix Felicis?” Levi asked with a serious tone and Eren sighed.
“No, no. Don’t get on ‘head boy’ mode. You don’t need to do anything about it. There may have been a tiny bit of felix in the drinks during last week’s party after Gryffindor’s victory. You haven’t noticed because you didn’t drink it.” Eren said.
Levi groaned.
“You know is illegal to use it during Quidditch championships. Even in small quantities.”
“That’s the school’s problem. Not yours. It didn’t affect the game, they used it after the match. Besides, you already take care of too much.”
Levi laughed. Eren is sometimes the only thing he could think about, having other problems to deal with felt like a blessing.
“Said the guy who drags the Head Boy to every party knowing that I have to fill tons of reports.”
Eren rolled his eyes but kept smiling.
“Because it would be terrible without you. And since we’re in this subject… After our match, the party will be at Slytherin’s common room. Just so you know.” He winked.
Levi wanted to punch Eren’s smile out of his face.
“We don’t even know if we’re winning against Ravenclaw.”
“Levi! Our team has you, me, and Erwin. Do you honestly think we can lose?”
-
Truth to be told, they did win the game, and even if the result was what they imagined Levi couldn’t help the relief of seeing his team celebrating. Especially when he felt the weight of Eren’s arms around him.
“You were marvelous.” He said as he touched his forehead to Levi’s.
Levi blamed his heartbeat on the adrenaline and smiled at Eren as well.
During the dinner the Slytherin table was euphoric. It’s the second game they’ve won, which left them in first place in the House Cup. It was still February, but they were very competitive. Some professors congratulated them, and even if Ravenclaw was bitter about the game most students were excited about the party.
“Mr. Ackerman, I consider you one of the most responsible Head Boys I’ve ever met.” Professor McGonagall told Levi when the students started to retire to their dorms. “So that’s why I expect all students well in the morning with no traces of… bohemian activities.”
She was smiling and Levi couldn’t help but smirk as well. All professors knew about the parties they threw, it would be naïve not to think so.
“I can’t promise for all the students. But I’ll surely take care of my house mates, Headmistress.” He said and she nodded, still smiling.
“Thank you. I’ll have a talk to the Head Boys of the other houses, specially Bertholdt. Some Hufflepuff students gave me a headache a few weeks ago.”
Levi thought about the party in the Hufflepuff common room and can only nod. He was always surprised about how much of party animals some of them were. Professor McGonagall leaves Levi and goes to the next table. Eren, who was waiting for the talk to finish, appeared next to him as they walked back to the dungeons.
Levi always thought it was very lovely how Eren always would wait for him. He would wait for him to finish eating, tying a shoelace, talking to someone.
“Can you believe that they let Ymir choose the password?” Eren’s whine interrupted his thoughts.
“I thought you would choose this time.” Levi commented as they were walking.
“So did I, but they already changed and spread it so people could come to the party. They didn’t even wait for me.” He lamented. “At least it’s not a proposal to Historia.”
Ymir was very reclusive and didn’t interact much, but she’s been in a relationship with Historia for so long all school was almost betting they would get engaged before the end of school year. When they arrive in the common room door Levi gestures to Eren.
“So, what’s the password?”
Eren smirks.
“Iratus pumilio.” Angry dwarf.
The door opens.
“… Fucking Ymir.”
-
Organizing a party when you have magic is quite easy. They still needed to be careful with not being caught sneaking alcohol in the common room, but mostly what they needed was a very strong silence spell. Levi casted ‘silencio totalis’ the moment they started preparing the common room, hiding any important objects so nothing gets missing or broken. There was also the fact that they must lock the rooms of the students from first year up to fourth.
“Please! You don’t have to let everyone from our year, just us.” Isabel, a fourth-year Gryffindor, pleaded and Levi sighed once more.
“No way. Next year you can participate, you are too young now.” He told her and Farlan, also a fourth-year student, however his house is Ravenclaw, as he guided them out of the dorm. “I won’t babysit you guys. Go to sleep.”
“But we don’t need to sleep! Please Levi, next year you won’t be here.” Isabel tried again.
“We just want to spend more time with you and have some fun.” Farlan said as Levi opened the door and shoved them out.
Levi stopped and looked at them.
“I suppose we can spend more time together.” He spoke.
“So, can we go to the party?” Isabel tries again.
Levi sneers.
“Absolutely not.” And closed the door.
When he finished going to every bedroom and explained to all younger students that they couldn’t participate and what to do if they needed him or the prefect, he took a shower and started getting ready to the party.
Levi is not the kind of person who spends a long-time taking care of his appearance, but he likes to look clean and well dressed. The weather was chill and since they were in the dungeons he chose a grey long-sleeved skinny turtleneck top, black pants with some chains in the left side, and a leather jacket. On his feet he put his black vans he and Eren bought together. He styled his hair and put some perfume on. Eren entered the room when he had just finished getting ready and was checking the final look in the mirror.
He expected Eren to say something about the lack of color in his outfit, as he does most times but when nothing is said Levi turned around and found Eren leaning on the door staring at Levi. His eyes went up and down his body in a way that was impossible for Levi to not get goosebumps.
“Are you going to check me out the whole night or you’re going to get ready?” He let it slip and immediately wanted to take it back.
Eren’s eyes found his and he grinned.
“Why not both?”
Levi rolled his eyes and tried not to look affected.
“Stop fucking around. You have 15 minutes. I’ll stay in the common room to take care of things.” Levi stood in front of Eren and gestured to the door. “May I?”
Eren let him go with a final look that made Levi’s legs a little jelly.
“Are you ok, Levi?” Erwin asked when he got to the common room.
“I think Eren was checking me out.”
Erwin’s eyebrows arched and he made a funny face.
“I’m surprised you’ve only noticed now.” Before Levi could ask anything, else Erwin turned the music on and the lights out. “Try to have fun, ok?”
Easier said than done, Levi thought.
Although, just a few minutes later the common room was full, and he could feel his mind relaxing. The loud electronic music was echoing in his ears, the only light being some green ones (they were Slytherins after all). Levi talked to Hange about the match when they arrived, and soon more players of the match started talking about it. Levi left the talk when he got tired of the enthusiasm of his colleagues.
He is very introverted, some small talk and even parties are ok, but he doesn’t like to be inserted in it for too long, especially with people he’s not close. Misaka and Jean also talked to him for a while when they spotted him. Since they started dating Mikasa got a lot more sociable, and Levi appreciated it. She was one of Eren’s closest friends and Levi considers her a good friend as well, even if she mostly scolded him for not being so careful with Eren sometimes. It was a topic of several discussions they had in the past. Mikasa was very protective of Eren and even if Levi loved and cared about him, he wasn’t a babysitter. Therefore, he always let Eren do his own decisions even if they were obviously the wrong call.
Their talk was interrupted by some students singing to the current song that was playing and Jean started singing even louder, Mikasa just laughed at her boyfriend and approached Levi to whisper in his ear.
“Don’t look now but there’s someone who can’t take their eyes out of you.”
Levi arched his eyebrows and looked behind to find Eren, sitting in the couch with his friends, with his eyes fixed on Levi with a sweet smile. Levi gave him the middle finger and Eren laughed and called him over with his fingers.
“Can’t leave the kid alone. He misses me too much.” Levi sighed as if tired, but his smile betrayed him.
“Take care of him please, I know that someone will try to give him something, as always.” Mikasa told him.
Levi just gave her a thumbs up and went where Eren is. Eren offered him his drink and Levi took a sip as he tried to look at Eren’s outfit without being a perv. Eren is always beautiful in his uniform, but Eren in parties is just sinful. He was just wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and the same vans as Levi but looked so good that is almost unfair to his poor heart. He tried to focus on another thing and sat beside Eren on the couch. Eren gives him more space and puts his right arm behind Levi’s head.
“I swear! I really needed a restroom and it just appeared.” Connie was yelling.
“You’re full of shit! There’s no way the Come and Go room appeared to you because you needed to pee.” Reiner laughed.
Levi gave Eren his glass back and let himself relax while listening what more bullshit Eren’s friends shared. Ymir had Historia on her lap and only noticed Levi when the blonde left to get some drinks.
“So, head boy, did you like the password? It was in your honor.” She spoke.
“You’re not nearly as funny as you think you are, dipshit.” He told her and drank a little more from Eren’s cup.
She just smiled and stood up when another song starts playing. Levi knew most of the songs playing, muggle Studies was way too focused in nowadays culture, but he didn’t feel like dancing yet. Apparently Eren had other plans and stood up pulling Levi with him.
“Let’s dance.”
“You can go, I’ll stay a little more.” He tried to argue but saying no to Eren was almost an impossible quest. Eren didn’t even had to try hard to convince him to go to the crowd.
He lost the count on what glass they were at just as he lost himself to the feeling. He was never a dancer or a sociable person, but moving his body to a nice beat, his body sometimes meeting Eren’s, green eyes following his moves; now that’s something he could never say no to. Sometimes someone they knew stopped to talk to them, Eren was already tipsy and couldn’t really hold a conversation for too long without getting lost in the subject.
There was a moment when Levi thought he saw Armin and Annie making out from the corner of his eye.
“Arlet and Leonhart?” He asks in Eren’s ear.
“Armin didn’t want to try anything because of Berthold, but now that him and Reiner started going out, I think he doesn’t worry anymore.” He replied in Levi’s ear.
Levi didn’t even know about Reiner and Berthold until that moment. Being so focused on his tasks, his studies, quidditch and Eren he sometimes missed some things like that. Eren was the one who usually kept him updated with the gossip. He normally didn’t care much but he couldn’t deny that sometimes some rumors were interesting.
Mikasa and Jean approached them, and Levi went to the table where the drinks were to fill his and Eren’s cup.
“Hey, Levi.” He heard someone calling him and turned around. A petite girl smiled at him.
“Hi Petra.” He greeted her.
They were from the same year, but Petra was from Gryffindor. Their talks were usually about the classes they had together, but he liked her. She was very polite and organized.
“Can I talk to you for a moment? In private” She pointed to the corner of the room.
“Hm… sure.” He followed her.
They went near the glass windows. The dark lake looked a little creepy at night, but the green lights of the party made it look especially nice that today. Levi loved looking at the lake even if it looked a little scary. He and Eren spent long times talking by the window during these years.
“I know we don’t talk much. But I wanted to say something. It’s already our last year and I don’t know if I’ll have the chance in the future.” She started and he nodded, slightly confused. “I would like to go out with you.”
Oh.
“I like you, and I would like to know you better.” She continued.
Levi opened his mouth but closes it again. He held a finger up, signing for her to wait a second, and took a long sip of his cup. She waited with a frown in her face. After a few seconds he put his cup down and looked at her in the eyes.
“I’m sorry. It caught me by surprise.” He said and she nodded, looking down.
He could give her a chance, maybe he could like her, his brain tried. But just as these thoughts crossed his mind his heart tightened.
“I can’t go out with you. It would not be fair with any of us.” He ended up saying.
She nodded. Levi was relieved to see she didn’t look sad.
“You’re into someone already?”
Levi nodded minimally and put one of his hands in his jacket pocket, not knowing what to do with it.
“Is it Eren?” She asked and he let a soft growl.
“Everybody knows?”
She giggled.
“I don’t think so. But I think you should tell him.”
He drank a little more and frowned. He’d just got the cup full and would have to do another one.
“Maybe one day.” He said and took a breath. “So, I’ll-” He pointed to the crowd.
“Ah, yes. Sorry to take you away. I just needed to take it out of my chest.” She smiled and he almost felt bad for not feeling something for such a sweet girl.
“Thank you, Petra, and sorry too.” He said and went back to where his friends were.
“You took a while, went to the restroom?” Eren asked when he arrived.
“No. Something happened but I’ll tell you later.” He told him. Eren looked at him for a few seconds as to analyze his expression and nodded, he thought Eren wanted to say something, but Hange appeared with Moblit by their side.
“You guys need to try this.” They screamed and passed Eren what looks like a blunt. “Marco and Moblit mixed some crazy herbs.”
Levi looked at Eren with the most serious face he could, and he knew Mikasa is doing the same because they said at the same time:
“Eren, no!”
Only to be ignored as Eren took the blunt to his lips with a shit ass grin.
Levi didn’t know what time it was when the party started to die but he was almost glad the night was getting to an end, the lake by the window was not as dark, so he deduces it must be near 5am. One of his last memories from the party was when someone from Slytherin dedicated ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ to the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Levi was sure that if they weren’t so drunk and high someone would end up in the hospital wing. When there were only Slytherins left clapping and laughing Levi and Eren decided to go to sleep.
“I feel like throwing up.” Eren said and fell on Levi’s bed.
“We brew some potions for tomorrow morning. The professors would kill me if the whole house were hungover. Again.” He said taking off his shoes and his jacket.
“They would never.” Eren mumbled, face buried on his pillow. “I would never let them kill you.”
“My hero.” Levi said sarcastically and changed his clothes into a big t-shirt. “Change your clothes, you’re disgusting. Also, go to your own bed.”
Eren whined but got up. He took off his clothes, put some sleeping shorts and came back to Levi’s bed.
“This is not your bed. Get out, fucker.” Levi said when he finished his hygiene.
Eren opened his eyes and spread his right arm to Levi.
“Just come here.”
That’s unfair, Levi thought. Eren looked like a God right now. Shirtless, messy hair and sleepy face on Levi’s bed, and Levi was only strong until some point. He turned the light off and got on the bed with Eren. He buried his face into his friend’s neck and tried to relax.
“You are my favorite person in the world, you know.” Eren said, voice low and lazy.
Levi smiled softly and closed his eyes to sleep.
“Go to sleep, dumbass.”
-
Sunday was a lazy day. Not as lazy as Levi wished but he let himself stay in bed and cuddle with Eren for more time than he should. They still had to clean the whole common room and as much as he wanted to do some Fantasia shit, honestly those muggle studies are changing him, he couldn’t. So, he spent a few minutes trying to get Eren out of bed and woke up more students to help with the cleaning. The first years were looking around in wonder of what the hell happened and Levi was almost at the same state, even if he was at the party, he couldn’t recall most of it. When they finished tidying things up Levi decided to spend some time with Isabel and Farlan, and Eren tagged along for their astonishment.
Isabel and Farlan looked up to Levi the most, but they always were fascinated with Eren. To be honest, most students were at least interested in Eren. And that’s mostly due the fact that Eren had a reputation. And not necessarily a good one.
While Levi was well-known for being one of the best students and a remarkable Quidditch player, Eren was known for being a little shit. He got good grades but was mostly bored in classes because he knew a lot. He knew enough to correct professors. Levi was sure that Carla and Grisha weren’t the kind of parents that would force their kid to study incessantly, and he also knew Zeke, who was very smart but nowhere near Eren’s level. Levi truly didn’t understand how Eren could go from being the sweet boy who asked cuddles in their room to the confident quidditch player in the field to an asshole smartass in class.
Most students thought he was very cool because of all that. Levi just kept falling harder every time even when he wanted to punch Eren in the face.
The four of them were chilling near the clock tower courtyard laying under a tree. The weather was cold, but the sun was warm and good, Levi almost forgot about his upset stomach. He didn’t take a potion for his hungover, there was only a little and Eren was way worse than him, so he gave it to the boy and only casted a quick spell on himself. They spent an hour there until Levi got hungry and they decided to leave.
“Isabel, if I wasn’t so hungry, I would kick your ass. Why did you suggest this place? It’s so fucking far to go back to the Great Hall.” Levi cursed and Isabel laughed at his grumpy face.
“We should bring our brooms another time.” Eren said and Levi nodded.
“One thing I’ll certainly not miss is how much time it takes to get anywhere in this school. Fucking huge place.” Levi commented and Farlan looked at them, frowning a little because of the sun in his face.
“By the way, what do you guys’ plan doing after graduation?”
Levi tried not to grimace. This question he was avoiding a lot. Almost more than ‘when are you telling Eren?’. Levi knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to be an Auror. But he didn’t want to be like Kenny, who spent more time at work and never had time for family. Never had time for Levi.
“Levi and I will be bartenders of our own bar.” Eren said with a serious face and Levi snorted.
“Shut up.” He said way more fondly than he intended.
He told Eren about wanting to be an Auror. Eren was a little interested as well after Levi to him but got a little lazy already when heard about the Auror training and how well he had to go on NEWTs.
“I want to be an Auror but that will depend on how good I’ll do this year.” Levi said honestly.
“Seriously?!” Isabel yelled. “That’s incredible! And you don’t need to worry. I know you guys will do amazing as always.”
Levi hoped so. He was never the smartest, but he sure tries, Eren was very hard working but mostly he didn’t really need to put much effort in studies. Levi wished he was like that.
“Now I’m picturing you two as Aurors. That’s a badass image.” Farlan smiled at them.
“Actually, it’s only m-”
“We would look badass, wouldn’t we?” Eren interrupted and winked at Levi.
Levi frowned at Eren but decided to ignore it for now and kept walking towards the Great Hall.
“Faster losers, I’m starving.”

“Where did you go when you disappeared in the party?” Eren asked later.
They were in their bedroom. Erwin and Miche share it with them but weren’t there in the moment, so their beds were currently being used by Levi who was organizing his wardrobe and folding clothes.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you.” He said without turning around.
Actually, he didn’t want to talk about it with Eren.
“Petra wanted to talk to me. Remember Petra?” Eren hummed and Levi continued. “She asked me out.”
Some seconds pass and Levi almost turned around to see if Eren is still there.
“Oh.” Eren said. “Did she?”
“Yeah. Fucking weird right? I must have talked to her only a few times.” Levi finished folding his summer shirts and put them in the wardrobe. “Anyway, I said no. She didn’t look sad or anything so I’m not stressing over it.”
Levi turned to look at Eren and found a look that he was not very used to see. Eren’s face was serious as his eyes stared at something on the ground.
“Eren, why the psycho face?”
Eren seemed to wake up and looked at Levi the eye.
“Sorry, my mind went away. It’s quite unexpected, isn’t it? I’ve never noticed she was into you.”
“Well, you’re not the most observant when it comes to other people.” Levi pointed. “Neither am I, I guess.”
Eren gave a weak laugh and grumbles “you don’t say.” Levi ignored it, keeping his mind in his wardrobe.
“Why did you reject her?” Eren asked after a while.
Levi frowned again. Reject is a strong word, but he guessed it’s the adequate term, he did tell her he liked someone else.
“I’m just not interested.”
Eren hummed again and got up from his bed just to sit in Levi’s bed.
“Mom asked if you were coming to spend Easter with us.”
It’s still February. Levi admired Carla’s organization.
Eren took a scarf that was on the bed in his hands. It was a scarf from their second or third year, Levi couldn’t recall. It was quite worn out, but he never threw it away, even if he had new ones.
“I’ve already told her you were.”
Levi took his eyes from the scarf in Eren’s hand and looked him in the eyes. He tsked and shook his head, a small smile almost appearing in his face.
“Will your brother be there?”
“Yes.” Eren grinned. “I don’t know what’s the deal with the both of you to be honest.” He commented as he folded Levi’s old scarf carefully and passed it to him.
“He just pisses me off sometimes.” Levi said as he finished tidying his clothes up.
Truth is, Zeke knew Levi had a crush on Eren since they were younger. He suspected Carla knew something too, she caught him looking at Eren with what must be a ridiculous face, but she just smiled and looked at Levi with such fondness he couldn’t even be embarrassed. Zeke, on the other hand, has always dropped unnecessary comments that made Levi answer him in the rudest ways.
“He’s bringing his girlfriend, so I think he’ll behave better. Just try to behave as well.”
Levi rolled his eyes. Eren scolding him was something utterly absurd, usually it was the other way around.
“Sure. Not hexing in the Yeager’s household.” He said, closing his wardrobe.
Levi laid on his bed by Eren’s side and closed his eyes, letting a yawn out. Eren looked at him and laid too and said quietly:
“I can’t wait for the holidays.”
Levi silently agreed.
MARCH
Quidditch season was one of Levi’s favorite things about Hogwarts. The list is big, of course. There was DADA classes, visits to Hogsmeade, magic everywhere, his friends, Halloween feasts… Eren. Levi shook his head and held his broom tightly trying not to think about the boy.
So, quidditch season. Slytherin is always the first team to play against Gryffindor in the beginning of November. It was March and their next game was only in the second week of May, but they were practicing a lot. The weather was great lately, so the players were more motivated.
It was Levi’s last year at Hogwarts.
He was trying so hard not to think about it that sometimes it was the only thing he could think about. How would he let this go? He would be back home for good. Back to that lonely flat he shared with Kenny, leaving the dorm room he spent most part of the last years of his life. It was very cruel how he had to say goodbye to this.
He tried to shake the melancholy out of his body and focus on the practice. Erwin was training the younger players extra hard, trying to find the perfect replacement for his captain position. Levi focused on the newbies for a while.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Eren flied to his side.
His hair was in a tight bun but was already messy because of the flying.
“Just a little worried that Gryffindor defeated ‘Puff.” He lied.
“Ah yes, Jean was very annoying last Alchemy’s class. But don’t stress about it. The cup is ours.” He smiled.
Levi let himself appreciate the view for a few seconds. The sun setting in the sky as Eren looked at him with the most beautiful smile, teal eyes shining. He could hear the laughter of their team in the background and a gentle breeze messed their hairs.
“After graduation” Levi said before he regrets it. “What do you plan on doing?”
“You’ll be an Auror, right?” Levi nodded. “Then I’ll go with you.”
Levi snorted.
“You don’t need to follow me everywhere. You should find something that you would like to do.”
“I’m interested in it. Honestly I am.” Eren told him.
“So, you’re not doing this because I’m the most amazing motherfucker you know, and you’re so attached to me you can’t be away?” Levi asked sarcastically.
“Oh no, I’m definitely being an Auror because of all that.” Eren said with a serious face. “Fortunately, I also happen to be very interested in this profession.”
Erwin called them out before Levi could say something else.
“Focus on the practice!” he shouted.
“Aye aye captain.” Eren said and flied towards the rest of the team.
Levi blinked slowly and did the same.
APRIL – Easter Holidays
The Yeager’s house was one of his favorite places in the world. After Hogwarts itself, it was the place Levi felt the most comfortable. In the beginning he felt very impolite to be there and intruding another family’s holidays just because his own family was broken. Levi never hated Kenny, he was a great Auror, he trained Levi the best he could. He just never knew how to be around him. Levi suspected he resembled his mother too much and Kenny didn’t know how to act.
Kenny liked Eren, they met when Eren spent a week of their summer vacations with Levi when they were 15. Levi told about his aspiration to become an Auror that summer. During dinner Eren asked about the profession to Kenny. Levi wondered if he had ever talked to Carla and Grisha about it as well.
“I’ve missed you dear.” It’s the first thing Carla said when she saw Levi, hugging him tightly.
“Hi mom, I don’t know if you remember who your actual son is.” Eren said with a pout. Levi rolled his eyes as he returned Carla’s hug.
“You are such a mama boy.” He told Eren as Carla let him and he shook Grisha’s hand.
“Hello son, how’s everything going?” Grisha asked Levi.
“Et tu, brute?” Eren asked his dad as Carla smashed him in a hug.
“Eren, you should know by now that Levi is our favorite.” Carla said as they went to the kitchen.
“I would be scandalized but since it’s Levi I can understand.” Eren said. “I’ll leave our stuff in the bedroom.”
Levi handed him his bag and talked with Carla and Grisha while Eren went to his room.
“Mom, can I have some floo?” He shouted from upstairs.
“You’re not 13 anymore, just apparate.” Grisha shouted back.
Carla looked to Levi with a tired smile and a fond roll of eyes. Eren appeared in the kitchen a few seconds later.
“I wanna go to Tinworth with Levi.” He said and Levi looks at him strangely, what did this idiot want to do at the beach?
“Just apparate, we don’t know what situation the fireplace is there.” Grisha said as Carla’s face lightened up at the mention of Tinworth.
“But then we’ll have to walk around.” Eren whined and started tapping his foot on the ground impatiently.
“It’s a nice day.” Grisha pointed at the sun and Eren gave up and whispered ‘accio wand’
“I thought you were going to wait for Zeke.” Carla said.
“Nah. But we’ll be back before dinner.” He said and winked at his mother.
“What exactly are we doing there?” Levi asked and casted the summoning spell for his wand as well.
“You’ll see.”
“Bye boys. Good luck Eren.” Carla said and Levi got even more confused. Luck for what?
“Eren, we just got here.” He complained. “We need to leave already?”
“Trust me, it’ll be fast.” He smiled.
They apparated at Tinworth’s beach a few seconds later. Grisha was right, it was a nice day. Levi stared at the ocean for a few seconds, remembering the first time he went there with the Yeagers.
“Let’s walk a little, this is not exactly what I wanted you to see.” Eren told him and they started walking.
“We could have changed clothes. Sand is a bitch to clean.” Levi grumbled.
“Sorry, I really need you to see one thing.” To his credit he did look sorry, Levi shrugged at him.
“It’s fine. I can’t say I didn’t miss this view.”
“The beach is beautiful here, right? Remember that time you almost drowned because you were so short the waves knocked you down?” Eren laughed.
“I remember you almost crying because you couldn’t find me for 5 seconds.” Levi retorted with a smirk.
Eren just nodded with a smile.
“I’ve always been terrified of losing you, I guess.”
When he said things like Levi thought that he might have a chance with Eren somehow. But before he could do something about this, like kiss him senseless, Eren would always drop a comment that made him want to punch him instead.
“Not that it was possible to lose you with that big ass yellow floater you used back then.”
As usual, Levi thought and rolled his eyes.
“It’s ‘Tinworth’ because of the tin mines, right?” He decided to change the subject.
“Yes.” Eren agreed. “Bridget Wenlock lived here for a while. Remember her? We studied about her in Arithmancy.”
“That crazy woman fascinated by the number 7, right? I wish I could forget. Those classes were boring as fuck.”
They talked a little more until they reached a house in a cliff near the beach. The garden was nice, and Levi could see that there was a big backyard as well. The house’s facade was very charming.
“Here we are.” Eren said, entering in the garden.
“Where exactly?” Levi followed him.
“Remember my grandparents? You’ve met them a few times.” Levi nodded remembering Mr. and Mrs. Yeager “They were never the best parents, even when dad followed Grandpa’s footsteps. But they are great grandparents.”
Eren took a key out of his pocket and opened the front door, gesturing with his other hand for Levi to enter. The house was almost completely empty. The only furniture being very old. Fortunately, there was almost no dust that Levi could see.
“My grandparents have three places. There’s a flat in Tutshill, their home in Godric's Hollow and this beach house here in Tinworth.” Eren opened a window to let some sunlight lighten the room.
Levi couldn’t help but admire the house. The walls were very tall, and the architecture looked quite fancy for a beach house.
“They are getting old and decided to leave their houses for Zeke and I. Zeke got the flat, he likes the idea of living in a small town. Their home is not something we’re deciding what to do now so we’ll deal with it in the future. After all they’re still living there.”
“And this…” Levi started.
“It’s mine now.” Eren completed, focused on Levi. “I’ve haven’t said anything before because I know you were going to make fun about how I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth.”
Levi laughed.
“That’s because it’s true, you little spoiled shit.” Levi said. “Fucking rich kids.”
He spotted a sun house near what must have been the kitchen area and went there. Because of the glass surrounding the room the sunlight was amazing and he could see the beach below the cliff.
“This is amazing, you’re a lucky son of a bitch.”
Eren chuckled and stood by Levi’s side, looking at the beach.
“I’m moving here after graduation. My parents said I could sell it and live in the city, but I love the ocean.”
“It’s perfect.” Levi said honestly.
His heart was heavy, but he was happy for Eren. He only hoped he could visit him from time to time.
“I’m glad you liked it. I was nervous you wouldn’t like our new house.”
“What’s there not to like-” Levi began but stopped abruptly, turning his head to Eren.
Eren, who was looking at him with a shy smile and holding a key in his hand.
“You can say no, but I wouldn’t recommend it. We both know I’m very stubborn.”
Levi stared at him with his mouth slightly open.
“You want me to live with you after school?”
Eren giggled nervously.
“Of course, I do.” He said softly.
The raven boy could hear his heartbeat in a way he never did before.
“So… come live with me?” Eren held the key to Levi.
He opened his mouth to say something, but his voice got stuck in his throat and his view started to get blurry.
“Oh shit, Lee, are you crying? I’m sorry, I’m sorry. You can refuse, ok? You know I would never force you to do anything.” Eren rambled and pulled Levi to his arms.
Levi let a snort out and hit Eren in the arm before taking the key, his key, in his hands.
“Shut up, you are fucking idiot.” He buried his head in Eren’s shoulder and holds the key tightly. “Of course, I’ll live if you. Of course.”
Eren let a relieved breath out and hugged Levi even closer.
“Oh, that’s good. It would be very awkward otherwise.” They laughed breathlessly.
And there, in Eren’s arms, inside their house, Levi was sure of one thing.
He would never get over Eren.
-
Zeke’s girlfriend was lovely, and Levi could never understand what she saw in him. Maybe Catharina was really into revolutionary ideas for a better future of the Wizard’s population or some shit like that. Either way, she was very nice and seemed to like Zeke a lot for some weird reason. She also seemed to think Eren and him were a couple, and Levi couldn’t even try to explain that they were not, especially because the fact that they were moving together was the main subject during dinner.
“When he entered the house the first thing he said was ‘Levi is going to love this’.” Carla giggled.
“And I was right.” Eren said, blushing a little.
“I can’t say I’m surprised by this but you two know you don’t need to be stuck together all the time, right?” Zeke said and Levi tried not to scowl at him. “Maybe it’s good to spend some time apart after school. I doubt you’ve spent more than 2 weeks apart for the last 5 years.”
He was not wrong, but that didn’t mean Levi agreed with him.
“Thanks, but no thanks.” Eren glared at him.
“Zeke, dear, can you even imagine how annoying your brother would get if he can’t see Levi for ‘some time’?” Carla asked as she drank some wine and Zeke let an understanding sound out while Grisha nodded.
“What is with this family and insulting me?” Eren asked with an exasperated expression.
Levi could feel his cheeks warm a little but kept a blank face the whole time.
“You can say it’s our love language.” His mother answered. “Talking about love, how about you and Levi clean this to show your love for me as Grisha and I spend some time with Zeke and Catharina?”
Before Eren could start complaining Levi stepped on his foot and agreed with the idea.
“Let’s go brat.” He told him as the rest of the family went to the living room.
When they were cleaning things, mostly using their magic, Levi could feel Eren’s stare and turned around to look to the brunette. He had a silly smile in his face and Levi looked at him with a questioning face.
“Did you lose something in my face?”
Eren shook his head.
“I’m just very happy right now.” Eren said.
Levi couldn’t help but smile softly as well.
“Me too.”
-
During the Easter break they decided to organize their new home. They didn’t do much, just tried to imagine how they wanted it to be and what they needed to purchase in the future. The situation was so surreal for Levi he thought he would wake up any time.
They also wanted to spend some time with their friends somewhere that wasn’t the school, and that’s how Levi ended up in a muggle pub on a Wednesday night.
“How shameless someone has to be to order something because it has their surname on it?” Jean asked observing the bottle of Jägermeister on the table.
“Shup up and be glad I’m generous enough to share.” Eren said with a scowl.
They had to ask for the biggest table. Somehow what should have been 6 people hang out ended up a little mess.
Jean and Mikasa were sitting at the end of the table, Armin and Annie were beside them. Levi was surprised when the couple arrived, Eren had commented they were more serious but still he only had seen they interact during the party.
Hange and Moblit came with Erwin by the same time Marco, Reiner and Berthold appeared. Sasha and Connie came later and even Ymir and Historia were there.
“Can you believe we only have 2 more months at Hogwarts?” Sasha whined.
“It’s quite crazy, right? After living so long there I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do after graduation.” Connie commented.
“I just hope I go well on the NEWTs.” Armin said and everybody snorted and rolled their eyes.
“As if you could do bad.” Annie said and he smiled softly at her. How did Levi not notice this? It was so sweet he felt like cringing a little bit.
“The bad part is to live with our parents until we get some money and find a place. Berthold and I were trying to find a flat but everything is so expensive.” Reiner commented.
Most people in the table nodded and Levi was glad this was not something he had to worry now. Adult life is terrible.
“By the way, Eren, how did it go in Tinworth?” Mikasa asked.
Levi, who was just observing everyone with his chin on his hand, looked up at her. He wasn’t aware that Eren had told them, but it made sense.
“Yes! Lee and I will move in after graduation.” He grimaced after sipping on his drink.
“Are you moving in together?” Hange shouted and everyone’s attention moved to them.
“Don’t need to scream, idiot.” Levi scolded them and looked at Erwin and Hange with a warning face. Silently praying they wouldn’t say anything that gave him out.
“I’m not even surprised.” He heard Ymir saying at the other end of the table with a sarcastic smirk. “I don’t think they would survive living apart.”
Levi rolled his eyes. Zeke and Ymir would get along.
“What about you two?” Eren sent her an easy smile. “Have you heard about the bets on your proposal?”
Historia growled and hid her face on her hands.
“I know! Another day that Gryffindor first-year, Gabi, asked me to do it because she was betting 3 galleons that I would be the one to propose.”
Ymir watched her with a smile.
“Should I wait for you, then? I’m getting impatient.” She said and Historia’s face gets even redder.
They stayed there for hours just talking, drinking, and sharing memories of all these years they’ve spent together. The classes they’ve attended, matches they’ve played or watched, places they’ve visited. At some point they were laughing and talking so loudly Levi couldn’t even remember what the conversation was about. He observed those people with a soft smile and tried to focus on every detail so he could never forget about it.
Jean’s right arm was around Mikasa, and she was hiding a big smile behind her hand and Marco smiled softly talking to them. Hange was talking enthusiastically with Moblit who observed them with a smile. Erwin had a hand on his stomach as he laughed with Reiner. Berthold had a drink on his hand and obverted his boyfriend with a content shy smile. Connie and Sasha were telling a story about a time they got lost at school, both with massive smiles on their faces. Ymir had her chin on top of Historia’s head as the shorter listened to Connie and Sasha. Annie looked like she is trying not to laugh, and Armin was holding her hand and laughing so hard some tears fell from the corner of his eyes. Eren looked so relaxed and honestly so happy it took Levi’s breath away.
Moments like this are the reason why I’m alive, he thought.
Eren turned his face and looked at Levi with that beautiful smile of his and Levi couldn’t help but smile back and in a moment of spontaneity and courage he raised his cup and said out loud:
“A toast to us all. Even if we go to different paths, I’ll always remember this.”
Everyone cheered and raised their cups for the toast.
“Atta Headboy.” Ymir said and he rolled his eyes.
He had seen so many amazing and unbelievable things in these years at Hogwarts. However, moments like this felt like the most magical thing in the world.
-
Going back to school after the holidays was good. Levi felt a lot lighter and less stressed. Spending time with the Yeagers was always a joy, and he even managed to see Kenny for a dinner. Kenny laughed so much he almost cried when Levi told him Eren and him were moving together.
“You sure don’t waste time.” He spoke.
Levi didn’t want to stress himself out, so he just ignored Kenny’s comments and tried to enjoy his time with the older man.
Things were working so perfectly fine in his life he was very scared of the moment it all would go down. Because it always did. There was no way he would leave school and live with the boy he was in love with and get his dream job. Life wasn’t this fair.
“You are too wary. Just accept that for once things are going right because you deserve it.” Hange told him when he voiced his thoughts to them when they were at the library.
“You talk as if I had a horrible life.” He grumbled. “It wasn’t easy in the beginning, but it could be way worse.”
“I guess it could.” The said and closed the book they were reading. “But you are one of my best friends and one of the best people I know, and all I want is for you to be happy.”
Levi raised his sight from the book in front of him and stared at Hange. He stills remembers the first time they approached him on their first week of class. He only hung out with Erwin or Eren, but that day during herbology class this Ravenclaw student approached him and started talking non-stop about things he didn’t understand. It was annoying as hell, but he felt very comfortable for some reason. Hange was one of his favorite people.
“Stop with this emotional bullshit, four eyes.”
He just won’t ever tell them that. Mainly because he was sure they already knew that.
-
MAY
“Are you nervous for tomorrow?” Eren asked the night before their match. They were by the window at the Slytherin’s Common Room, observing the Black Lake and talking about their finals. Levi was on an armchair and Eren was sitting on the floor surrounded by books.
“No. We are going to win.” He answered and Eren laughed.
“Our team is pretty amazing.” He agreed. “But don’t you think is so unsetting that this is our last match?”
Levi turned his head to look at Eren. His features so soft under the night light.
“A little.” He said quietly.
“You never see people talking about their last quidditch game. I don’t know if I’m just being an emotional wreck of if this is really a little heartbreaking.”
Levi snorted softly and put his hand on Eren’s hair, playing with it a little.
“I’m sure everyone is the same. They just don’t voice it out loud.”
Eren smiled at him.
“I’m sad to leave Hogwarts, but I’m excited to do it with you.”
Levi’s hand stopped on Eren’s hair, and he stared at the boy a little before hitting him lightly on the head.
“Now you are being an emotional wreck.” He said and Eren laughed again.
“And you’re so mean to me. I got us a home.” He pouted and Levi rolled his eyes at the audacity.
After all, Levi was always at home with Eren by his side.
-
The weather was terrible during their last Quidditch match, but that didn’t stop their excitement. Slytherin and Hufflepuff were about to have the 5th match and students from the four houses came to watch. Slytherin’s team became very popular, mostly because of the players, and Hufflepuff was doing very well that year.
“Careful out there!” Erwin told the Slytherin team when they were changing into the green robes. “The rain and thunder may be an obstacle, but I trust that everyone here can do their best. Don’t forget to cast Impervius to repel the water.”
Every player had a determined look on their faces while listening to their captain.
“It has been amazing being your captain for these last years. Thank you for trusting me.” He spoke. “Let’s get our Cup!”
Everybody cheered loudly and entered the wet field. Rain was splattering over Levi, and he could feel his heart beating hard and fast with enthusiasm. Behind the Slytherin goal posts many students were wearing green; the silver serpent of Slytherin glittered on their flags.
My last match. He thought.
Jean’s voice echoed on the field; he was the commentator of note during all matches. Levi didn’t understand why he never played since he was so interested in the sport and was quite good, but Eren told him that Jean only got interested because of Mikasa, which explained the obvious bias and the shameless commentaries every time the girl did anything during Gryffindor’s matches.
“And here is Slytherin!” yelled Jean. “Smith, Yeager, Ackerman, Leonhart and Dreyse are saying their farewells to the fields today after years of being one of the best teams Hogwarts has seen in years!”
Students screamed and cheered loudly on the posts. Banners with “GO SLYTHERIN” brandishing.
“And here come the Hufflepuff team, Captain Bodt surprised everybody this year with the new lineup but youngest player in the team Falco Grice surprised even more. Must be a family’s gift!”
The Quaffle and Bludgers were all placed in the center of the field.
“Captains, shake hands!” said Madam Hooch and Erwin and Marco approached each other and grasped each other’s hands. There was clap of thunder, followed immediately by forked lightning.
“Mount your brooms!” said Madam Hooch. “Three . . . two . . . one . . .”
The sound of her whistle couldn’t even be heard due to the roar from the crowd while fourteen brooms rose into the air.
“Starting with Slytherin in possession, Hitch with the Quaffle, heading straight for the Hufflepuff goal posts and- OH! Quaffle intercepted by Bertholdt of Hufflepuff! Amazing Bludger work by Miche Zacharious, Bertholdt drops the Quaffle, and it’s caught by — Ackerman, Slytherin back in possession, cool swerve around Kaya and ooh that’s a Bludger! — HE SCORES! TEN–ZERO TO SLYTHERIN!”
The green crowd below was screaming as Levi flew in contentment. Madam Hooch blew her whistle and he speeded up again.
“Slytherin in possession, no, Hufflepuff in possession, no! Slytherin back in possession and it’s Leonhart with the Quaffle, she’s streaking up the field! There she goes! Falco from Hufflepuff intercepted the quaffle, no, no, Smith from Slytherin has the Quaffle now! What is going on??” Jean yelled. “AND SMITH SCORED TEN MORE POINTS TO SLYTHERIN!”
Madam Hooch’s whistle rang out again and Jean drank some water as fast as he could.
“And it’s Hufflepuff in possession, as Udo takes the Quaffle, Falco alongside him. Now it’s Falco in possession, Falco flying toward the Slytherin’s goal posts, come on now, Flotch, save —!”
Falco had scored and there was an eruption of cheers from the Hufflepuffs as Jean swore.
“Flotch you little shit! How could you – sorry professor, sorry, won’t happen again! So, Slytherin in the lead, twenty points to ten, and Slytherin in possession —”
Madam Hooch awarded both teams penalties, after an ‘elbowed in the face’ accident. Flotch pulled off a save, making the score thirty-ten to Slytherin. Levi could see that Eren had pulled his Firebolt around and sped off toward the Slytherin end and saw the Snitch. He growled at his Nimbus as the rain whipped his face, they needed more points before Eren could caught the Snitch. Hufflepuff scored more 10 points and Slytherin did so as well.
“Hitch from Slytherin in possession, Slytherin heading for goal — Leonhart scores —” Jean cheered. “Fifty-twenty to Slytherin. . . Don’t give me an ugly face Marco! Ackerman from Slytherin with the Quaffle now!”
Every Hufflepuff player apart from their seeker was streaking up the pitch toward Levi and trying to block him. Eren zoomed toward the Hufflepuffs to scattered them and let Levi’s way clear again.
“HE SCORES! HE SCORES! Slytherin leads by sixty points to twenty!”
Levi was about to smile as the students screamed when he saw Eren diving, a look of determination on his face and a golden glimmer in front of him. The tiny golden ball was now in his fist, beating its wings against Eren’s fingers.
“YEAGER CAUGHT THE SNITCH! SLYTHERIN WINS THE GAME!”
Levi wasted no time and was speeding toward him, he hugged Eren around the neck and the taller boy held him closer by the waste. Hands were raining down on their backs as the rest of the team got together.
“Gryffindor will have to work hard next game if they want to win. Mikasa, baby, I trust in you with this, you need to kick their asses- no, no, professor, don’t take my megaphone away-!” Jean’s voice got cut down, but the sound of the rain and the cheers were so loud it didn’t matter.
Some students were at the field celebrating and others were leaving quickly to get out of the rain. Levi didn’t care, he stayed in Eren’s arms feeling so happy not even the cold rain could make him want to leave.
He lifted his head from Eren’s shoulder and looked at his best friend. Eren covered his eyes with his hand still holding the golden Snitch and let a breathless laugh out.
“You know Levi...”
Levi was trying to focus on breathing and calming his heart because of the adrenaline, so, no. He didn’t know anything at this point.
“I...” he laughed a little more and took the hand out of his eyes to look at Levi “I’m so in love with you. Even more than you’re in love with me.”
Levi’s eyes widened and he couldn’t help the surprised face.
Eren was still looking at him, a small smile on his face.
“Say something, please.”
Levi felt so nervous he could feel his whole body shaking.
“Eren... are you shitting with me?”
“What? No! Of course not. You know I would never do this to you.” His hand reached Levi’s cheek, holding it softly.
“Then... how? Why?”
Eren looked quite confused now.
“Wasn’t I clear? I thought I was so obvious of how I feel about you. I asked you to live with me!” He pointed.
“Well, yes. The house may have crossed the friendship line. But you’ve never tried anything, you even went out with some girls!” Levi arched an eyebrow at Eren.
“This was years ago; I was a confused kid who was falling in love with my best friend.” Eren explained and grabbed Levi’s wrist. “Why would I go out with someone that isn’t you? How could I settle for anything else but you?”
Levi looked at Eren’s eyes and could only feel the sincerity in them.
“You’re such an asshole.” Levi kissed him.
Right there. In the middle of the Quidditch field, surrounded by people who started cheering even louder.
“NOW THIS SHOULD BE WORTH AT LEAST FIFTY POINTS TO SLYTHERIN! Hey Connie, you owe me 3 galleons!” Jean yells at the megaphone again.
Levi separated from Eren and looked at him with an angry face.
“Couldn’t we have had this conversation somewhere else?” He growled.
Eren just smiled against his mouth and pulled him in for another wet kiss.
-
“Why just now?” Levi asked later when they were back at the dorms. Both cuddling in Eren’s bed. Erwin and Miche had left to give them more privacy.
The feast was quite a mess. The whole school was talking about their not so private moment after the game, Levi wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up at the Daily Prophet but hoped it was not the case due to the fact that Kenny would make fun of him endlessly if that happened. Slytherin’s table celebrated their victory and all their friends talked about them.
“To be honest I was going to wait after the N.E.W.T.s because we’ve already waited years, just one more month would be nothing… I did almost tell you in Tinworth though.” Eren said, petting Levi’s hair.
“Erwin and Hange were trying to make me talk to you for a while now.” Levi admitted. “I was just scared to lose you. Ridiculous, I know. You wouldn’t last a day without me.”
Eren snorted but nodded.
“Mikasa and Armin knew before I did, to be honest. I think it was after Christmas holidays in our fourth year, I was telling them about our trip to Germany and Mikasa asked if I had finally kissed you… I was very confused, honestly. I told them they got it wrong, and I didn’t like you like that.”
Levi could recall that time. Eren got weird around him for a week or two. They’ve had their first fight about it.
“When did you knew you liked me then?” He asked the green-eyed boy.
“When you went out with Peterson.” Eren said, not looking at Levi, cheeks getting red.
The raven boy let an understand noise out.
“You were so mad back then. Remember you yelled at me in the middle of the courtyard?”
Eren growled, ashamed.
“Yes. And you punched me in the face.” He winced. “Then you took me to the hospital wing and stayed with me. You looked so mad but stayed either way.”
“You test my patience sometimes and I didn’t know how to control my anger.” He admitted. “You have this tendency to make me really mad with your unexpected actions. I did feel sorry about that though. We were younger and I know better now. I do feel terrible about it either way.”
Eren kissed his head, murmuring ‘it’s ok’.
“How did you know I loved you?” Levi whispered.
“Oh.” Eren let a laugh out. “It started in divination class, actually.”
“I’ve always hated this class.” Levi commented, slightly annoyed. “You know it’s very imprecise.”
“Well yes, but that’s were we learned about Legilimency. You and I used to train it in secret.”
“Shit, it’s true.” Levi frowned. “That’s how you discovered about Mum.”
Eren nodded and moved his hand to Levi’s back, under his shirt, making the raven boy shiver.
“It was only the second time we tried it, you let me in for about 5 seconds before Occlumency worked.” Eren recalled with a serious face.
Levi remembered that well. Eren was the first person he talked about how his mother had died. Eren listened and held him the entire time while he sobbed in his robes.
“I’ve never thanked you for that.”
Eren shook his head lightly.
“Because there’s no need for it.” He held Levi’s head in his hands and kissed him slowly. “I love you.”
Levi closed his eyes and pressed himself even more to the other boy.
“And I love you.”
JUNE
“It’s the last one.” Eren said, closing the box. “Are the elves sending it to us later?”
Levi hummed and closed his luggage.
“It’s going to be in the train. As always.” He said again. “Don’t worry, we won’t forget anything.”
After all, their room was basically empty. Living there for so many years resulted in many objects they had to take back home for good. During their vacations some things stayed there since they’ve never changed dorms. Levi couldn’t help but think it was very odd to see their room free of their things. It was also odd that he knew he wouldn’t go back after vacation.
“This is a lot more depressing than I thought it would be.” Erwin commented, looking around their room and Miche nodded and asked:
“By the way, have you guys been to the Trophy room yet? They updated our quidditch awards with this years’ Cup.”
Levi and Eren went there with Isabel and Farlan after the World Cup Ceremony. Slytherin had not only won the Quidditch Cup but also the House Cup. The younger ones were amazed by all the trophies Levi and Eren had gained in their years at Hogwarts.
“I went there to admire all the trophies my boyfriend has.” Eren said, smirking at Levi. “I should receive a medal for being able to catch him as well.”
Levi rolled his eyes and glared at him.
“You just wanted to see your own trophies, brat. You’ve became even fuller of yourself after the N.E.W.T.s results.”
To be honest Levi was very proud of Eren about his grades. Both boys got mostly Outstanding grades in their N.E.W.T.s and were going to applicate for an Auror recruitment programme soon. Levi was still getting used to the thought of their future life together.
Erwin shook his head fondly at the couple. He stood up and smiled.
“So… Shall we go?”
The four boys gave one last look around the room they spent their youth in and left the room, doing the same with the Common Room. Levi tried to pay attention to every single detail of the castle as they passed by to go to their Graduation Ceremony at the Great Hall.
During the feast Levi felt less and less melancholic. He knew he would miss Hogwarts a lot, since it was his first real home, but he was more than ready to start a new chapter in his life with Eren by his side.
He knew he wouldn’t lost contact with the friends he made there, specially because they invited themselves to a party dinner at his and Eren’s new house in just a few weeks. Levi already feared for his house’s organization, recalling their last time out together during Easter’s holidays.
“Another year gone.” McGonagall said. “Transitions are filled with anticipation and sorrow but there’s also hope. As you leave, it is with a full heart that I wish you the absolute best. And while your paths may diverge, you must know you will always have a place and a home here at Hogwarts.”
After the ceremony they left the school and walked until they could reach the lake shore. There student by student started entering the Hogwarts’ boats.
“I swear I was preparing a beautiful speech.” Jean said. “But it would be useless since we are seeing each other again in the carriages and in the train. So, I won’t waste it”
“Just say you’ll miss us and go.” Connie smirked at him.
“Please don’t, this amount of sentimentalism is making me sick.” Ymir said and pulled Historia towards a boat, the small girl waved at them and yelled ‘see you later!’.
“The audacity of this woman.” Jean mumbles to Mikasa and the couple gets on a boat as well.
Eren and Levi share a boat with Annie and Armin and so they went across The Great Lake as the castle got further and further away. Levi stared at the dark night; Hogwarts was just as magical as the first time he saw it as a lonely eleven-year-old boy.
He felt Eren holding his hand tightly and smiled at his boyfriend as they left the school for the last time.
