Chapter Text
“Hey Mr. Stark”
“Hey kid”
Tony looks up and smiles at Peter, watching as he enters the lab, setting his backpack down next to the desk Tony was working at.
“What’re you working on there?”
Peter looks over Tony’s shoulder at the piece of technology the older man has been tinkering with.
“Just some repairs to one of the motors in my suit, got fried on a mission two nights ago” Tony answers nonchalantly as he adds some final touches to the fix.
“Alright, I’m gonna work on some touch ups with my suit if that’s okay with you” Peter asks as he heads over to another work desk in the high tech lab.
“Knock yourself out kid” Tony replies, barely looking up from his work as he knows Peter is familiar enough with the lab at Avengers Tower by now to settle in by himself.
The pair work in silence, each absorbed in their own work, the thoughtful lack of conversation accompanied by some of Tony’s music playing. This was almost a daily occurrence for the pair, a routine they had grown quite used to. Almost every day after school, Peter would sling over to the tower and work in the lab with Tony. After spending some time in the lab, they’d sometimes go to the common area and relax, usually accompanied by whatever avengers happened to be at the tower and had some free time on their hands.
When Tony finally finishes his repairs, he walks over to Peter’s workbench to admire the work of the younger boy. Peter’s nimble fingers work around some wires in the goggles of the Spider-Man suit, moving quickly with purpose and precision. He’s so absorbed in the work that his spider senses don’t even alert him to Tony’s presence right behind him. Tony can’t help but smile proudly as he watches the boy work.
“What’cha working on?”
Peter practically jumps at the sound of Tony’s voice suddenly right behind him, causing the older man to laugh as he clasps a hand on the smaller boy’s shoulder. Peter melts into the touch, feeling his body suddenly grow warm as his nose and cheeks grow slightly pink.
“J-just a little something to make the night vision in the goggles more precise” Peter mumbles, practically stumbling over the words as he looks between his hands and Tony’s curious gaze.
Tony tilts his head slightly, looking inquisitively at the boy in front of him. He could sense something was off but he wasn’t sure if he should push the boy.
“Alright,” he begins slowly, “you gonna be done soon? I was thinking we could order pizza and do a movie night with some of the others” Tony offers.
“Yeah that sounds great,” Peter replies, snapping out of it with an excited grin, “I’m just finishing up, I’ll text May and tell her I’ll be staying late.”
Tony nodded and walked away, giving the boy some space to finish up his work. As soon as Peter was done, he jumped up and grabbed his bag before heading over to Tony. The two made small talk about things like school and recent missions and all that as they headed into the elevator.
On their way up to the common area, they were joined in the elevator by a few other people, primarily SHIELD agents who worked on other floors of the tower. As the elevator fills up, Tony reaches out and gently pulls Peter closer to him, allotting more space to the two gentlemen that just walked in. Peter feels his face burn bright red as he feels his mentor’s chest against his back. The shorter boy quickly glanced up behind him, catching a quick smile from Tony, which he nervously returns before averting his gaze. Eventually the others in the elevator file out on their various floors, finally allowing Peter to begrudgingly step away from Tony.
As the elevator doors opened, Tony and Peter were met with greetings, smiles, and waves from various avengers. Bucky, Sam, and Steve sat on one of the couches while Natasha and Rhodey talked in the kitchen. On another couch, Scott Lang and Thor stared intensely at the TV displaying their current game of Mario Kart.
“I was starting to think you’d be down there all night” Rhodey says to Tony with a laugh.
“How could I stay down there when I know I could be up here bothering you” Tony says with a laugh as he walks over to his lifelong best friend.
Peter decides to go over to the couch area, opting to sit on a couch next to the couch seating Steve, Bucky, and Sam.
“Peter,” Steve says with a grin, “how’ve you been?”
“I’ve been well, Mr. Rogers” Peter answers politely. Despite how nice and approachable Steve is, Peter can’t help but always feel a bit flustered around him, thinking back to the events at the airport in Germany.
“Peter how many times have I got to tell you? Just Steve is fine” he replies as he laughs at the younger boy’s formality. Peter chuckles, knowing all too well that Steve will continue to be Mr. Rogers to him.
“You graduate first grade yet, Parker?”
“Not yet Mr. Barnes, they told me they’d feel bad if they let me the graduate first grade before you” Peter shoots back with a chiding grin.
“Don’t worry about that Peter, they’ve still got Bucky in kindergarten” Sam adds, resulting in an elbow from Bucky and a laugh from Peter and Steve.
“Damn it!”
The men turn to look at Scott who yelled in frustration after losing to Thor, presumably not for the first time. Thor simply laughs in triumph and claps the smaller man on the back. He turns and finally notices Peter now sitting in the room.
“Ah! Man of spiders, how good to see you” he exclaims warmly, his voice naturally booming over every other voice in the room.
“Hey it’s my fellow insect guy!” Scott’s mood shifts back as soon as he notices Peter. “Want next round?”
“As entertaining as that would be, we should probably decide on a movie for tonight.”
Peter jumps as Tony’s voice is suddenly right behind him. He looks up and sees the older man leaning on the back of the couch with Rhodey and Natasha by his side.
“Hey маленький паук” Natasha says warmly, ruffling Peter’s soft brown hair. Peter leans into the touch with a soft laugh.
“Hi Nat!”
“Hold on a second, how come you’re on a first name basis with her and not us?”
“Because, Mr Barnes, when she told me to just call her Nat I was too scared to even consider doing otherwise” Peter responded smartly, to which Bucky grins and shrugs in agreement.
“Smart kid” Rhodey adds, eliciting a nod from everyone else in the room and a sheepish blushing look from the humble teenager.
At that moment, Vision and Wanda walk into the room holding hands as per usual.
“What’s going on here?”
“Movie night, would you and Vision care to join us” Natasha replies, gesturing to one of the couches.
Wanda looks to Vision for his opinion on the matter. “Vis?”
“I think it’s a wonderful idea, darling.”He smiles at her, lightly squeezing her hand. Wanda can’t help but smile back, her nose scrunching up cutely as her eyes brighten. The two then make their way over to one of the chairs, Wanda choosing to sit in her husband’s lap.
Tony sits next to Peter on the couch and grabs the remote from the round marble coffee table.
“Alright then, let’s pick a movie.”
