Chapter Text
Days bleed together. Each passing hour without meaning, without importance. He knew sun was still traveling through the sky, setting and rising, washing over the world with its warm rays. But that didn't matter. Not to him. It hasn't for a long time.
The water was cold. Not that it bothered him, not exactly. It was just something to focus on. It was better than the overwhelming quiet drowning the room he was in. The walls with intricate details, made with love, were almost as cold as the water.
But it didn't matter as well.
-
This time he was warned.
There will be people coming. Important people who they wanted to impress. So he was to behave. Be, how they've made him, pretty. Obedient.
But the water was cold and so were hearts of the ones who came. So he straighten his posture and with unseeing eyes he was watching the meeting go by.
People liked to listen to their own voices, even more so than his. People liked to be listened to. He was made to listen.
They left him in the cold.
-
Days went and went on by. Without the sun it was futile to keep track of the time. So he didn't.
Man who was with him the most was furiously pacing around the room and muttering to himself. He knew better then cower away from the angry movement. So he just hunched his shoulders, hopping to not be noticed.
Not today. Please.
But the man simply stopped, fixed his awfully clashing clothing and exited the room with a loud crash of the door.
He couldn't stop the flinch but thankfully there was no one to see it.
-
Maybe he deserved this.
Somehow.
Cruel fingers dug themselves into his wrist, threatening the fragile bones to crack. But he knew better. He didn't try to force his arms closer to his chest, out of the harms way.
He knew better.
The water was so cold.
But not nearly as cold as the hearts of people in the room.
-
The shouting woke him up.
Hauntingly familiar walls of his room greeted him without the warmth he oh-so was looking for. But he knew better than to wish for something. He could long for it but never wish.
Hope was a dangerous thing
-
The yelling and tumult could be heard from behind the closed door of his room. But he tried not to listen. He wasn't told to listen.
His fingers crossed and danced with each other as his breath catched itself in his throat.
It was different. Different was way beyond more dangerous than the familiar, no matter how bad the familiar was usually.
His room was as cold and immovable as always. Only a stack of papers on the table pushed to the far corner was slowly slipping towards the floor.
He always wondered if the floor was cold too.
-
The noise stopped at some point.
He hasn't noticed when exactly. But he wasn't told today's plan yet. So he would wait. He could only wait until someone remembered that he was here, the far back room, that no one really visited anymore.
The door whined with rusty hinges. That was something any of them couldn't really fix. The water was cold in his room. And it was everywhere. But maybe they just didn't think it was worth fixing.
Noise.
Wait. His head jerked up. The door was opening. He was supposed to look presentable. He straighten his back and fell into familiar pose. Pretty. Unmoving, besides slightly too quick rise of his chest. But maybe they won't notice. Maybe not today.
But the person stepping into his room was... New. He almost ticked his head to the side with curiosity. Almost. But he was better than that. He knew the rules. So he just sat there, unmoving, as the newcomer gasped with a horrified expression upon his face.
His pink hair was pretty.
