Work Text:
"I'd look like a Christmas tree if I wore all of these."
It was a little late on his birthday. They've been practicing for so long that they couldn't greet him at exactly midnight, however he's still glad they celebrated his day even though it's late.
They were all sitting down in their practice room. Resting after doing extra practice for their award show performances.
"I still think mine's the prettiest one." Hoshi pointed out, hooking an arm around his hyung.
"No, but I really worked hard on mine, hyung." Seungkwan pouted.
"What do you mean? What you made was too small!" Seokmin nudged him, laughing at the sulking guy.
Joshua caressed Seungkwan's nape, smiling. "I think it's cute like you."
The members all tried to make bead bracelets to give to Joshua— though some are too small, too loose, had an extra string poking out, random patterns and colors, he loves them all the same.
"We made it when you and Vernon hyung were out on a shoot, it was so fun. It was like a school group project." Dino mentioned.
"Yeah, I kept telling Seungcheol hyung to make it simple. Look at this—" Seungkwan giggled. "he made it too big and chunky."
"Ya. I said I would make a necklace." The older glared at Seungkwan. "At least mine actually fit Shua's."
Seungkwan grumbled.
"Jun and Minghao also made something for you." Wonwoo showed them his phone, a picture of Jun and Minghao in quarantine holding their gifts for Joshua.
Cuties.
"Thank you guys, I'll keep them all safe." Joshua smiled at them.
The door of their practice room opened, spilling Jeonghan holding a lit up cake. Behind him was Vernon and Mingyu who's holding another cake.
"We bought two cakes because we didn't know what would you like the best." Mingyu started.
"Actually, we just believe you would like these two." Vernon continued.
Jeonghan stepped in front of him, "Everyone—"
"Happy birthday to you~" Jihoon led the song.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Joshua~"
Joshua glanced at Jeonghan in front of him, catching him mouth the words 'I love you.'
He blew the candle, smiling at the clapping members around him.
He looked around, imprinting this precious memory in his brain.
"Remember during our online fansigning?"
"Not sure. We held a lot of those." Jeonghan muttered under his covers. Or more accurately, under Joshua's covers.
Hmp. "The one when I stole your glasses."
Jeonghan hummed.
"And you said you'd give me any gift I want for my birthday?" His eyes traveled to Jeonghan beside him.
"Did I?"
"Yes, you did."
"Oh." Jeonghan chuckled slyly. "Oh. Yes, actually. I do have a gift."
"Come on, ask me what's my gift for you."
"Alright, Jeonghannie, what's your gift for me?" He looked at the man with a playful smile.
"I, myself, am a gift already for you." He laughed. "And— and wait, there's more."
"I will be giving you," He paused, teasing him again. "a hell of a hard time next year."
Joshua rolled his eyes. "Haha. So funny, Jeonghan."
The older man sat up, smiling at him. "Kidding. I actually…"
Joshua looked at him, expectant and curious.
"Well, I kinda fucked it up."
Jeonghan reached for the bedside drawer, pulling out, "A coaster?"
Jeonghan laughed awkwardly. "Yes. I crocheted it myself. I mean, I tried to crochet it myself."
"I actually wanted to do something like a beanie or something but—"
Jeonghan couldn't continue his words when Joshua pulled him into a tight hug. "It's amazing, Hannie. I like it. You did great."
Jeonghan returned the hug, embracing Joshua's waist closer to him. Them closer than they ever could, sharing warmth in the cold dawn of Joshua's birthday.
"Of course, I know I'm great."
Joshua rested his head on Jeonghan's shoulders.
"Happy birthday, my Joshuji."
끝.
