“Deku!” He yelled out, watching as the pro hero in front of him got impaled.
“No!” He rushed towards the body bleeding out. “No, please,” He choked out a sob. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.
“Don’t die. Not now,” He held the lifeless body in his arms, “Izuku…”
Midoriya awoke with a jolt. “Where am I?” He whispered, He looked around the room he was in. He was home. He was in his home. Well, his mother’s home at least. “How am I here? She’s dead,” He muttered confusedly. He walked out of his room to explore the rest of the should-be-empty house.
“Oh, Izuku, you’re up,” A woman - his mother said as he walked into the room. “Mom?” He questioned.
“I was tring to wake you up earlier, but you wouldn’t get up. You’re late for school so once you get ready I can drop you off,” His mom replied, ignoring the questioning tone in her son’s voice.
“Uhm, okay,” Midoriya decided to not ask any more questions and returned to his room to get ready for school. He opened his closet in confusion and mumbled, “But I don’t go to school anymore. I haven’t for years.”
He pulled out the Aldera Junior High uniform, “Aldera? That’s old,” He thought about what his mother had said, “No, I’m not back in middle school again, am I?” He sighed and put on the uniform. “I think I am…” He walked back into the living room to see his mom by the door.
“Are you ready to go Izuku?” She asked. “Uh, yeah…” Midoriya responded.
“Alright, let’s go then.” She walked out of the door, forcing him to rush outside behind her.
Once Midoriya got to school it was already almost lunchtime. He entered the class and attempted to quietly rush to his seat. “Midoryia, nice of you to finally join us,” The teacher greeted condescendingly. “I’m sorry sensei, my mom should’ve called ahead though.” Midoryia replied.
“She did but sleeping in is hardly a good excuse for missing school.”
“I’m sorry it won’t happen again.”
“It better not,” with that final comment, he went back to teaching the class.
“Deku! Why were you really late? And don’t say you slept in, we both know that’s a lie!” Bakugou yelled at Midoriya after everyone else had already left the classroom.
“Deku…” Midoriya repeated, the name echoing around in his brain, The incomparable pain, the numbness after hitting the ground. Hearing him scream his name. The last time Midorying would hear it. Well, in that timeline at least. He didn’t realise he started crying until Bakugou yelled, “Oi, Deku, stop crying and answer me!”
Midoriya broke from his trance and replied with a smile, “Sorry Kacchan, but I did sleep in.”
“NO! You’re lying,” he insisted.
“Fine, you want the truth?” Midoriya smirked, he was going to have fun with this.
“Of course I do!” Bakugou yelled back.
“I died,” he stated plainly.
Bakugou’s face softened from anger to a blank expression. He didn’t respond to Midoriya for a few seconds before collapsing into Midoriya’s arms. He set Bakugou down before saying, “Kacchan!? Are you alright” No response. “Kacchan, hello?” Midoryia tried again to get a response from the boy who had passed out. “Kacchan?” He tried again.
“Deku? Bakugou responded as he stood up, regaining his consciousness.
“Kacchan?” Bakugou’s face morphed to a mixture of sadness and disbelief as he felt tears rise to his eyes.
“You’re alive?” He asked. “Am I dead?”
“Kaccahan, you’re here!” Midoriya responded.
“Here? Why are you in your middle school uniform?” Bakugou looked down, ”Why am I in my middle school uniform?”
“Kacchan, hear me out, I think we’re in the past.”
“Past?”
“I know it sounds crazy, but yeah.”
“But this is before UA.”
“Yeah, and I don’t have my quirk yet. Today’s the day of the sludge villain though and we can’t change anything that happens here.”
“Right, but I thought you died?”
“I did, but then I woke up here.”
“Oh, so you did die then,” Bakugou looked down solemnly.
“It wasn’t your fault, don’t worry. Besides, we’re getting a second chance.” Midoriya reassured him.
“It’s showtime,” Midoriya smiled as he approached the doors of the UA entrance exam. He was actually going to get villain points this time. He had to prove he could actually fend for himself. He was also going to save as many people as possible. Not just Uraraka. He could use One For All Full Cowling, but only at 3% consistently. He could use a higher percent, but not for very long and it definitely put strain on his body. 3% was still enough to be slightly faster and stronger. Strong enough to destroy the robots without hurting himself at least. He sped to the entrance and destroyed the 3 robots right at the entrance quickly before anyone else had the chance to destroy them. He then ran off to find more. “This was a lot harder than I remember,” He mumbled.
While looking for more robots he saw someone pinned to the ground by one. He ran over and destroyed it. They had short, medium brown hair and amber eyes. They were wearing a red hoodie, black jeans, and a purple messenger bag slung over their shoulder.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked as he stuck his hand out to help the other person up.
"Uhm, thank you?" They took his hand after rubbing something on it. Once they got up they started to run away. As they ran off, Midoryia felt himself get rejuvenated.
“Wait!” He yelled after them, hoping they would stop. The person paused before turning around.
Midoriya jogged up to them before asking, “What’s your quirk?”
“My quirk?” The other person asked.
“Yeah, I felt something after you touched me.”
“Oh, that’s because I can transfer chemicals through somebody's skin. I gave you a medicine pain reliever thing.”
“That’s such a cool quirk!” Midoriya beamed.
“Uh, thanks?” The other person responded confused. “What’s your quirk?”
“Oh, it’s a simple enhancer quirk.” He looked down.
“That’s cool! You actually stand a chance against these robots. I can’t even fight them. I just have to hope the judges see me helping people and take pity,” They stared into the ground.
“Why do you want to be a hero?” Midoriya asked.
“I want to help people!” They responded.
“Well, you’re already doing pretty great at it. I want to be a hero for the same reason as you.”
“Thank you,” They smiled at Midoriya.
Just then they heard a loud rumbling noise. The 0-pointer.
“What was that?” The other person asked.
“I think it’s the 0-pointer,” Midoriya replied, “Go see if people need help, I’ll fight it.”
“Are you insane?! By the sound it made it must be huge!” They yelled.
He ignored their comment and ran in the direction of the noise, going against the loud screaming crowd. He hoped the other person would listen to him and help the others. Then he saw it. It was a lot bigger than Midoriya remembered it to be. He jumped up and punched the big robot. He felt massive pain in his arm, but it wasn’t as bad as last time. He barely felt any pain in his legs as well. He felt the wind against his falling body, with no way of stopping the fall. He knew Uraraka would save him, but that didn’t make this moment any less terrifying. Suddenly, he felt a sting on his face and realized Uraraka had slapped him.
"Thank you…"
