Work Text:
He knows how much Jeanne meant to him.
How those blue eyes shine so bright when she walks by, how those blue eyes gleaming when they meet those golden eyes and how those blue eyes never leave her.
Noe knows how much Vanitas loves Jeanne. It is obvious by how strange his behaviour was whenever the lady was in sight, or how his mood brightened when he was beside her. At first, Noe shrugged the thoughts off and convinced himself that it wasn't bothering him at all. However, as the time flew by quickly - Noe found out how bothered he was when he saw them.
How Vanitas lets Jeanne drink his blood whenever she wants. It’s unfair really, Noe was the first to meet Vanitas and was the first to help him through everything - he was always there for him yet never once Vanitas gave him permission to drink his blood. When the first time Noe brought this up, he wanted to drink the human’s blood which was rejected and he was threatened.
Since then, Noe doesn't bother asking for his blood anymore. But, it is just unfair how a girl he barely knew or just met was allowed to drink his blood. Bro before hoe has no meaning anymore is there?
“A penny for your thoughts?”
Noe didn't realise he was staring blankly at the wall, to which the newcomer thought would burn the wall any minute if he didn't step in. Noe blinked, “Oh sorry.”
“No need to apologise, you’ve been staring hard on the wall. For some reason, I feel sorry for the wall getting burned from your sharp gazes.” Said Dante.
“I believe the walls don't feel anything.” Noe said, lazily stare into the redhead’s eyes, unamused. Dante gagged on his tea as his eyebrows twitched in rage.
“You know that was not what I meant.”
“Oh really? Unfortunately, I don't.”
Dante sighed exaggeratedly. He rested his elbows on his thighs, resting his chin on top of his hand as he tried to analyse Noe’s mind. “You were thinking about Vanitas, weren't you?”
That caught him off guard. “No?”
“Don't lie, you’ve been so out of it for the past few days. At first I didn't want to care nor acknowledge anything about this, however it was certainly disturbing. It’s killing the mood in the room.”
“I am sorry.”
Dante clicked his tongue. “No need to apologise. Just tell me what's been bothering you? Did Vanitas bully you or something?”
Noe shakes his head, “No he didn't bully me at all.” He hesitated, “What’s bothering me is that Vanitas and Jeanne are getting along very well.”
Dante hummed, the corner of his lips curved upward - in a teasing manner. Noe doesn't seem to notice it as his eyes landed on the ground, fingering fidgeting as he spoke. “I have nothing against their relationship whatsoever, but there is a feeling on my chest that has been bothering me lately. I can’t seem to understand , it’s constantly suffocating me whenever I see them together.”
Dante let out a weird chuckle, “Oh you’re jealous?”
Noe raised his eyebrow, confused. “Jealous? Why would I be jealous?”
“You are in love with Vanitas!” Dante proposed, clapping his mouth and gasping like a drama queen. Dante then wiggles his eyebrows, “The little Noe is unfortunately in love with Vanitas!”
“In love?” Noe tilted his head, still trying to understand why Dante came to that conclusion. He doesn't know if he is jealous or not, however that won't lead to any love problems- Or maybe?
“Noe, when you see Jeanne and Vanitas together, how do you feel?”
“I don't know. I felt weird and my chest started to hurt, it’s like there was a big rock on top of my chest that prevented me from breathing.” Noe stated, putting his hand on his chest before he continued, “And whenever I saw Vanitas smile at her, I feel like everything turned into black and white. I feel like I was so distant. I was there but I feel like I wasn't.”
Dante had a soft smile written on his face. He got up from his seat and approached Noe, who was looking at him curiously. Dante’s hand rest on Noe’s shoulder, “You’re jealous.”
This is confusing. Why are human’s words so confusing?
“I am?”
“Yes. You know it isn't fair how it’s only you who are getting jealous over trivial matters.”
“What do you mean?”
“You two are hopeless .” Dante sighed, “Listen, I will help you.”
“Help me?”
“Help you get over Vanitas and we can see another side of him.”
“Another side of Vanitas?”
“Yes, would you like to cooperate?” Dante smirked, handing out his hand.
Noe stared at his hand before returning to look into the redhead’s orange eyes, “I don't know what you mean but sure.” He said, shaking Dante’s hand - For some reason, Noe felt like he just signed a contract with a devil.
Dante is tired of the two of them pining without them realizing. Dante is fed up with the two of them not realizing how much they love each other and he took the matter on his hand.
“This is going to be fun.”
