jimin held back a cry of pain as he stopped walking, having finally reached the door to his apartment. now all he had to do was dig out his keys from his bag, unlock the door, and shuffle inside and to the couch as fast as he could before he passed out from tiredness.
practice had been hellishly long that day, from 6am to 9pm, with a few sporadic 15 minute breaks when his instructor was feeling less evil than usual. add on his hour and half commute both ways and jimin had been awake and active for a total of around 19 hours that day and his body was absolutely aware of it. luckily, the next day was a sunday and he would be free to rest and relax pretty much all day until later in the evening when he was to meet with taehyung and namjoon for their weekly family dinner.
he reached for the front pocket of his bag, the only place he kept his keys and stopped short when he found the zipper already unzipped. his heart sped up, feeling like it would beat out of his chest with fear as he stuck his hand inside, finding the pocket empty. he pulled his hand out and the shoved it back in, hoping that maybe he’d missed it the first time before pulling it out again. he hurried to unzip the larger pocket, his hands shaking as he did so. he pulled out his practice clothes and water bottle and everything else until he was sitting on the floor, tears welling in his eyes with all of his belongings scattered around him.
it took him a few minutes but jimin eventually started shoving everything back into his bag and zipped it back up. he dropped down from where he’d been kneeling and moved to sit criss-cross with his back resting against his apartment door. his entire body was aching and now he had no idea where his keys were or what he was going to do about it seeing as it was past midnight and his asshole of a landlord was probably asleep. jimin just stayed there, his head in his hands as he bent forward and tried to control his breathing so he wouldn’t slip into a panic attack.
what could have been minutes or hours later, jimn heard the ding of the elevator as its doors opened and the quiet sound of someone stepping out of it. the footsteps were coming his way but he still didn’t look up until the person was standing there in front of him.
“jimin-ah?” kim seokjin asked, his voice holding a hint of concern.
jimin nodded, wiping the tears from his eyes with a shaky hand. “hi, hyung,” he started, his voice rough.
seokjin immediately crouched down to seem him face to face. “jimin-ah, is everything okay? what happened?”
jimin took in a deep breath, hiccuping as he did so. he felt so embarrassed that seokjin, the man he’d been crushing on for months since he’d moved in, was seeing him in such a state. seokjin gently grabbed his hand, rubbing the back of it, encouraging jimin to speak.
“i’m okay, hyung, today’s just been really long and i lost my keys somewhere and i can’t get inside my apartment and i’m just so tired.” jimin said, not even taking a break to breathe.
seokjin nodded, moving to stand up and urging jimin to as well. “come on, you can stay with me for tonight and in the morning we’ll call sanghun in the morning and see what can done about your lock, okay?” seokjin asked jimin as he picked up jimin’s bag for him.
jimin nodded again, wrapping his arms around his own waist. seokjin grabbed his own keys from his pocket and quickly unlocked his door that was right across from jimin’s. he urged jimin to go in first with a gently hand between his shoulders.
‘thank you, hyung, you have no idea how much i appreciate this.” jimin told him as they both kicked their shoes off and put the on the rack that seokjin had sitting by the front door.
“of course, jimin-ah, i told you, if you ever need anything, hyung is always here for you.” seokjin told him as they entered the living room. “here, the couch actually pulls out, so i’ll set it up for you. i have some extra sheet and pillows and plenty of blankets if you need more than one.” seokjin smiled over at him.
jimn’s heart raced in his chest as he nodded, once again not able to speak in seokjin’s presence due to his sudden shyness.
it didn’t take long for the two of them to set up the pull out bed and for seokjin to help him get situated.
“okay,” seokjin started. “i think we have similar layots so you know where everything is already, but if you need anything at all, you can just wake me up.”
“thank you again, hyung.” jimin said sleepily.
seokjin moved closer, letting his hand brush through jimin’s hair.
“of course, jimin-ah, hyung would do anything for you.”
jimin hummed contently, his eyes closing as seokjin whispered good night to him, his voice a soothing whisper.
