Work Text:
I am in love with Love.
I am in love with Love,
I've been,
Married to Venus.
Been lost in
Countless embraces with Aphrodite.
I have lain with Isis...
I have tasted Love
become addicted to Love
Possessed by Love.
You see I
am married to Love.
Been irrevocably chained to Love. And Love
is a jealous Love.
Love loves to test me,
Embodying,
beautiful women.
Women I have loved and lain with,
Women I have kissed and bitten.
Women I have held and adored...
But, Love always leaves them,
flees them.
Love turns me cold with her departure,
leaves me longing, for her return,
Until,
One day when the latest victim,
This beautiful girl, Love has left me to,
Says the inevitable...
"You're distant,
Love.
What did I do,
Love?
What's wrong,
Love?"
But with out Love,
these women
They're lifeless to me.
It frightens me,
Frustrates me, and all I want to do is cry back to my wayward Love
"I'm not the distant one, Love!
What is wrong, Love?
What did I do, Love?"...
But I restrain myself,
Because,
these women,
are not my Love.
Because these beautiful girls, I've lain with,
They are not to blame.
Love has simply left me again,
Moved on so that she can,
Test me again.
And so,
I whisper back instead,
those damned words again, to this new victim of my Love's games,
"It's not you, love,
It's me."...
And I watch,
Tears,
fall down beautiful cheeks,
and,
wipe them away,
even knowing that,
Though I am there, my heart is not and I,
can't bring myself to care...
At least not really...
Because,
Love has gone again,
and I will do the same to this girl,
who I loved,
before I knew her name or face,
before I held her and whispered words, that seem
empty now. I know I loved her then,
but not now. And so I leave,
without looking back,
I follow my wayward Love,
and beg her to come back.
And maybe this time,
As my heart skips when this new,
beautiful girl walks past,
maybe she'll stay and it will last...
Even though I know now,
as I have before, it won't...
I am in love with Love.
