After a while, everything became a blur to Izuku. Eventually, when he could finally properly process things, he noticed he was in Recovery Girl’s office. His mom was standing outside the door talking to Aizawa. He handed her a paper and she seemed to break down. He could faintly make out the tears streaming down her face, making her mascara run. Chiyo noticed that he had clearly begun to start coming back. “Midoriya? Are you with me now?” She asked softly. He looked in her direction with unfocused eyes. She sighed softly. She stood up and headed to the door and shared some whispered words with Inko and Aizawa before all three came into the room. Inko immediately broke down more upon seeing her son. She engulfed him in a hug, dropping the paper on her way to tackle her baby. Chiyo picked the paper up, glancing it over. A sad look came over her face and she set it on her desk, beside an open manilla folder. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Inko asked her son. He looked at her heartbroken face and gulped. He opened his mouth to speak but all that came out was a small sob. “I’m sorry mom…. I didn’t think you’d believe me….” He said brokenly. Everyone else’s hearts shattered at this. “Baby, I will always believe you! I don’t care who he is or what he says or does. You are my son. I will always believe you over him, ok?” She held his face in her hands and he nodded. She gave a sad smile, wrapping her arms around him again. He buried his face in her neck as he let another wave of tears flow. She looked sadly at the pro heroes in the room while she held her son. After a few minutes, Chiyo got their attention. “I am going to need to ask you some questions, ok, Izuku?” He nodded weakly to her. “Who is this written about?” He looked away. “My…. dad… he would come in at night since I was five. After I was diagnosed quirkless. He told me it was a special love that needed to be kept secret…” He said, answering her unspoken question that he knew would come. How old were you when it started? He had gone over that night many times when he heard the question asked to anyone about anything. It was always hard to think about but easy to remember. He wishes he could forget it. But he can’t. It won’t leave his mind. “How long?” Aizawa asked before Chiyo could. “Um…. until last summer? When my quirk came in?” He sniffled. The adults stiffened. “He kind of got jealous of All Might? When he helped me with my quirk. I went to the beach a lot to train with him. Dad…. he asked if I was doing our thing with him. And he got a little rough…. Rougher than normal…” He looked at the ground, sniffling and trailing. He was lying. But the adults didn’t know that. The last time his dad spent special time with him was three months ago.But he wasn’t going to tell them that. They didn’t need to know. It was bad enough that he told them this much. His dad was going to get in so much trouble for this. He continued to answer Chiyo’s questions as much as he could. Once they decided they had enough information, they said he could either go back to his dorm room or home with his mom. It was his decision and he just really wanted to be alone right now. He went to his dorm where he locked himself in. Curled under the comforter, he thought about texting his dad about it. Thought about giving him a heads up. But he left his phone in his bag that was still in the classroom. He curled further into himself and sobbed. He fell asleep.
Izuku awoke to a knocking on his door. He got up and answered it to see Bakugou holding his bag. He thrust it into the greenette’s chest and glanced away. “Did you fall asleep with your binder on? Don’t lie to me, Izuku. Take it off. I don’t want you hurting yourself. Could ruin your chances at the surgery.” He turned away leaving a stunned Izuku. He went back into his room deciding he should really take it off. He was starting to struggle to breath so he fought it until it lay on the floor. He pulled on a pair of sweatpants and an oversized hoodie. He pulled out his phone from his bag and opened his dad’s contact.
Izuku :I’m sorry:
Hisashi :for what?:
Izuku :I accidentally told our secret…:
Hisashi :how did you ‘accidentally’ tell it?!:
Izuku :I wrote about it and someone found it...then they brought it to the teachers…:
Hisashi :you little bitch! you did it on purpose:
Hisashi :don’t try contacting me again slut:
Izuku read the conversation over and over again. He tried to text his dad but it wouldn’t go through. He tried calling but he found out he had been blocked. He broke down and curled in on himself again, clawing at his arms. Stupid, stupid, stupid! He was stupid. He fucked up. He just lost his dad because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He screamed again and again. He screamed until he couldn’t anymore for the second time that day. He wasn’t ready to go through with this. He didn’t want to. He wasn’t supposed to.
A few days had passed and eventually his mom came to the school while he was in the kitchen. Aizawa accompanied her and they both had grim expressions. “Izuku…. Honey, your dad won’t be facing consequences for what he did…. They found him on his boat… dead. He killed himself…” His mom spoke with a pang of sadness in her voice. Izuku just blinked. “Ok.” The adults looked at each other. He went back to making his food. It was a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a side of chicken wings and ranch. He was scooping peanut butter out of a jar and dumping it on his ice cream. This seemed to catch the attention of his mom. “I thought you hated peanut butter?” She said. He shrugged. “I’ve been craving it like crazy recently. I don’t know why I ever hated it. It’s really good.” Izuku pushed past his mom and teacher to settle at the table in the common dining area. The two shared a look and Inko seemed to slightly deflate at the silent communication going on. Her heart broke. This was going to be hard. Not just for her, but all of them.
