Chapter Text
“Do you really think I should go for it?” Jimin looks back at Jungkook.
While Taehyung is his soulmate and the absolute best friend anyone could ask for in the entire world, he can sometimes be a little overenthusiastic. Especially when it comes to Jimin. If it were up to him, every single man should be grateful if Jimin so much spared him a glance, which Jimin knows isn’t the case, nor that it should be.
Jungkook on the other hand, he’s more realistic. He always tells Jimin the truth and while he does his best to soften the blow if it’s something Jimin doesn’t want to hear, he makes sure to get his point across.
Jungkook looks back at the man leaning on the bar, a bottle of beer in his hand. The three of them have been downright staring at him for a while now and while Jimin tries to be subtle, he’s sure he must have noticed something.
“Sure, why not.” Jungkook answers him. “I mean, he looks cool. I doubt he’s gonna be an asshole to you if he’s not interested.” He shrugs casually and takes a sip of his own beer.
“Yes and if he is an asshole, Kookie will beat him up.” Taehyung proclaims confidently.
“No he won’t.”
“No I won’t.” Jungkook nods. “I’ll go as far as to accidentally spill something all over him.”
“Thank you.” Jimin smiles.
“Always. Now go. Just come up to him and ask if you can buy him a drink.”
“That’s the straightest way to approach someone.” Jimin groans into his hands.
“Jiminie.” Taehyung places a steady hand on his shoulder. “I assure you he will not think anything about you is straight.”
Jimin takes a deep breath. He knows that. Beside the fact that they’re at a gay bar, his outfit of leather pants that are like a second skin on his legs and a tucked in silky dress shirt is a pretty good indicator. He takes a sip from Jungkook’s bottle for some reason and almost gags immediately. He’s not sure why he did that, beer never really did it for him.
He inhales again deeply and he must look like he’s preparing for a box match, but he doesn’t care. As long as the pretty stranger doesn’t think he’s being creepy or weird, he’s cool.
Taehyung slaps his ass as Jimin leaves their table which is just the added boost of confidence he needs.
The man definitely realizes he’s approaching him but he doesn’t look at him, which Jimin isn’t sure if it’s for better or worse. Either way, he makes his way to the bar and leans on the counter next to him.
“Hi. Can I buy you a drink?” he smiles charmingly.
He’s pretty. Hair in a bold shade of mint, jeans and a simple black T-shirt, but he makes the outfit look better than it actually is. He also has a lot of tattoos all over his arms and neck.
“Sure.” He nods, raising his bottle of beer to signalize what he wants.
Jimin orders one for him and a gin-tonic for himself from the bartender and sits on the stool. Their drinks come rather quickly and the man joins him, sitting as well and smiling at him. It’s nothing like Taehyung’s wide, huge smile, he doesn’t even show teeth. Just curls his pretty mouth upwards and Jimin can’t help but smile back.
“Thanks. I’m Yoongi.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Jimin.”
-
Turns out, Yoongi did his own tattoos, which only serves to impress Jimin even more. His shop is called Queer Tattoos and Jimin straight up snorts half his drink when he hears that. Yoongi says it’s so people who wanna have something tattooed that has to do with being queer and they’re afraid someone won’t do it, they know where to come. But of course he does the other ones, tho he admits they’re not as enjoyable and cool as gay little ones.
Jimin tells him he’s a dance teacher and Yoongi raises his eyebrows with a handsome smirk on his face.
“And you had the audacity to laugh at my shop’s name.”
“Excuse you, not every dance teacher is gay.” Jimin says, but he’s laughing through his sentences, his hand coming to cover his mouth.
“As you say.” Yoongi says in a tone that’s obviously disbelieving.
He’s really nice to talk to. Says he’s here with his friends but they’re dancing or fucking god knows where so he’s left alone, which Jimin can relate to. When he tells Yoongi his two best friends getting together was the best and the worst thing that could have happened to him, Yoongi chuckles.
“How about three of your best friends? And one of them being your ex?”
Jimin’s eyebrows shot up, surprise evidently coloring his face. “Oh, you poor baby. I can only imagine. But like, are you cool with that?”
“Oh yeah, totally. I introduced them. Me and Jin-hyung were a disaster as a couple, but we’re great as friends, so there’s no hard feelings on either side. They’re not that big on physical affection as much, but the number of times I got propositioned to have sex with the three of them is getting a little out of hand.”
Jimin laughs again. He’s all loose and relaxed, the way he always gets when he’s had a few drinks, uncaring of looking stupid or ridiculous. Yoongi is a pleasant man, and a handsome and funny one for that matter, so he enjoys his company. There’s something about the way he holds himself, humble but still confident, the perfect amount of both that’s sexy without being annoying.
“Hey, what do you say we get out of here?” he suggests and Jimin’s heart jumps into his throat because he didn’t peg Yoongi for such a straightforward person. “Not like— Not like that, Jesus.” He chuckles. “I meant do you wanna go grab a bite? It’s a little suffocating and loud in here.”
“Oh.” Jimin giggles. “Sorry, I just assumed— Yeah, that’d be great actually.”
“Awesome.”
-
“Okay, what’s your favourite tattoo you’ve ever done?” Jimin asks, biting into his fries.
“Hm.” Yoongi looks up, chewing his food and swallowing, washing it down with soda. “I dunno, I like a lot of tattoos because they mean something to people. Maybe this one girl, she was 18 and she wanted a bi flag on her shoulder. She seemed so scared so I asked is she out to anyone and she said she has a girlfriend but her parents don’t know. And how she’s proud of her sexuality and they actually probably don’t even know what’s a bisexual flag.” He snorts. “She was so endearing. Really determinate, reminded me of myself.”
Jimin smiles. “What you do is really great.”
Yoongi stops to look at him, as if Jimin caught him off guard. Jimin seriously doubts that no one’s ever told him how cool it is that he’s a tattoo artist or that it’s really awesome that he does things for LGBTQ people.
If it’s not that then Yoongi might be a shy person after all, which Jimin didn’t really pick up on from how easily he keeps the conversation going, but if anything, it just makes him even more attractive. He busies himself with his soda and Jimin bites the inside of his cheek, feeling giddy that he was able to get him flustered.
“Okay, I know I ask so many questions about tattoos and it must be so boring for you, because I’m assuming everyone you meet just focuses on that, but I just have one more and after that I’m done.”
“It’s cool.” Yoongi chuckles. “It doesn’t bother me or anything, you can ask whatever you wanna.”
“Have you done all of your own tattoos? Because those ones seem really difficult but I dunno how it’s done.” Jimin traces his own throat with his fingers to indicate what he means.
Yoongi has a bunch of flowers all over his neck and they look so beautiful that Jimin has the urge to touch them really badly. But he’s not gonna. He’s not an asshole. But they look cool as fuck.
“No, Hobi – one of my friends that left me to grind on his two boyfriends – did these. We came to Seoul together and learned together and he owns the shop with me. I did some on his back and he did these.” Yoongi answers.
“Ah, yeah. Makes sense. I was wondering could a person actually do that, you’d probably be superhuman or something.”
Yoongi shakes his head and he’s done that a few times this night – enough times for Jimin to pick up on it and think it’s cute. His hair bounces on top of his head whenever he does it.
“Do you have any tattoos?” Yoongi raises his eyebrows.
“Ah, no. Not yet.”
“Want any?”
Jimin reflexively twirls the ring on his finger, looking down at his hands. He’s never really told anyone about some ideas he has, not even Taehyung and Jungkook. “I’ve been thinking lately about doing like— Self love. On my fingers. Like, you know, one letter on each finger and then it would read self love when I put my hands like this.” he explains, making two fists and putting them next to one another, even tho Yoongi probably gets what he means, he’s probably done tattoos in that form before.
“Oh wow, that’s really cool.”
“You think?” Jimin beams at him.
“Yeah, definitely. If you ever feel like getting it, let me know. I’d be happy to do it for you.” He says. “But we have been talking about me and my job the whole night. How is it being a dance teacher?”
Jimin curls his hand around his neck and tilts his head. “It’s nice. I actually teach ballet and it’s really fun because I’m teaching young kids, you know? They’re so cool to be around.”
“I can imagine. Ballet is difficult tho, right?”
“I mean yeah, but I was the top student in my school, so it’s no biggie for me.” Jimin says, trying not to laugh through his words. Yoongi does tho and Jimin feels like his mission has been accomplished.
“That’s fucking great. Did you think about pursuing it as a career or?”
“Yes actually and a lot of people told me I should, especially my teachers, but I know how stressful it is and I couldn’t really do it. You know, for most professions they say that becoming a teacher is the lowest point – like if you’re an architect you’d rather design fucking buildings than be a college professor, but for me, I think teaching is the better side of ballet.”
“I understand. I mean, I know nothing about dance of any kind, but I can just imagine how hard it is to be a professional ballet dancer.”
“Yes. And plus I love working with kids, it makes me really happy.”
-
Jimin loses track of time. They talk long after they’re done eating and Jimin is just grateful this is a 24/7 diner. Yoongi insists on paying for their food, the same way Jimin insisted on paying for their drinks back at the bar, so he can’t really complain.
He tells Yoongi he’s taking the subway and doesn’t argue when Yoongi offers to walk him there. They walk side by side and Jimin notices there isn’t much difference in height between them. Yoongi appears to have thinner legs and arms than him but his shoulders are really broad.
He walks in small steps and Jimin thinks for a second how he reminds him of a penguin.
When they’re at the subway, he thinks about calling Yoongi back to his place. Not even to have sex, just… To spend more time with him. But it’s actually past midnight and while Jimin works in the afternoon he knows other people have jobs that require them to be up before noon actually.
Besides, it could be weird. Yoongi is a lovely person and so interesting to talk to, but he might think Jimin is being too forward too quickly, given that they literally just met a couple of hours ago.
As he’s overthinking, Yoongi clears his throat. “So. I had a fun time tonight. I’d like to see you again, if you feel like it.”
Jimin can’t stop his smile from widening because he’s had his fair share of men being assholes who don’t know what they want or just don’t know how to communicate what they want. There’s something so sexy about Yoongi saying it upfront like this that it makes actual shivers run down Jimin’s spine.
“I’d love that.”
“Awesome.” Yoongi nods and takes out his phone. “Can I have your phone number then?”
And that’s how it starts.
