Chapter Text
“I can’t believe they are making me do this!” I exclaim, throwing myself back against my bed, my best friend Jeongyeon, sitting in the lounge chair in the corner of my room.
“I mean, you knew it was coming. Every single witch in this coven goes there for college. It is tradition.” Jeongyeon states bluntly.
“Who’s side are you on?” I sit up, asking her.
“I am just saying, you shouldn’t be surprised this happened. You have been denying it all summer.” Jeongyeon states, scrolling through her phone nonchalantly.
“Yeah, I know.” I sigh, getting up and going back to sorting my clothes. I leave today to go to the campus, and I have put off my packing until, well, the morning of. I raise my hands towards the clothes and my whole closet begins to glow. One at a time, shirts and pants begin to flow out of the closet and into assorted boxes in front of the closet.
“You know magic use will be limited on campus right? You're going to have to learn to do stuff without it.” Jeongyeon gives me a smirk, and I stick my tongue out at her.
“That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I can’t use my magic at magic college. What the fuck is the point then.” I sigh again, sitting back on my bed as my clothes back themselves.
“It won’t be that bad you’ll see.” My best friend says, getting up to leave. “I gotta meet Hyunjin before we leave, he is having trouble figuring out how to fit all of our stuff in his car.”
“Bye Bitch.” I respond as she leaves, earning a loving middle finger in response.
“At least you aren’t considered evil.” I say to an empty room.
There are many different kinds of magical abilities that a witch or warlock can have, but they all fall beneath two types. Dark or Light. My family happens to be the most powerful coven of light magic users in the world. One problem. I presented with Dark magic, the first time ever in the history of my family.
Now did this make me an outcast in my family? Not really. As shocking as it might be to some, my parents, and the rest of my family were actually really cool about it. Especially since they knew that dark magic didn’t automatically mean evil.
To everyone else in the world? I was a problem. I was someone not to trust. I was bad news. I was the villain. The funniest thing about this, is because I was a dark witch born from two light ones, I am extremely powerful. I can manipulate the energy in and around things, which is what lets my clothes sort themselves, and I can manipulate the energy inside of people. That includes their emotions and their bodies too. Not that I do, I just can. Because of this, I am labelled as dangerous by society, so people are afraid of me.
My one friend, my best friend is Jeongyeon. She is a part of the Twice coven, which is basically a coven filled with very powerful witches who all have some sort of healing ability. Her boyfriend Hyunjin, who is a friend of mine by default, is a part of Twice’s brother coven, SK Coven. The SK Coven is filled with powerful warlocks who all have protection abilities. Both healing and protection are Light magic abilities though, so, neither of them really understand the problems of being a Dark witch.
“y/n, are you done packing? We need to go!” I what my mother yell from down the stairs.
“Coming mom!” I yell. Making sure my remaining boxes are stacked properly before heading downstairs, knowing that this will be the last time I see my room. My mother will have all of the boxes transported to the school (curtesy of being the highest ranking Coven) and we will transport there ourselves.
By time I make it down stairs, my younger brother, a travel warlock, is already holding open the portal to the school.
“Dude what took you so long?” He asks me. I roll my eyes at him, before straightening my shirt and walking forward. As I pass through the portal I can see my parents just on the other side, standing in front of the castle-like building where the main hall is.
“Welcome to your home for the next four years hun.” My dad says, motioning towards the large building.
I slowly spin around, taking in the large campus around me. The place seemed as big as a campus. As I was taking in the people around me I see the headmaster of the school walk towards me, and I quickly take a step back towards my parents.
The headmaster at this college is Park Jin-young. He is the leader of JYP Coven, (Named after himself), and is an extremely powerful Light warlock, and an infamous teacher. Let’s just say, if he had his way, I would not be at his school for Light magic users.
“Ah, y/n, such a.... Pleasure... to finally have you at our school.” The headmaster doesn’t extent his hand to me, and I can hear the disdain in his voice when he says pleasure. I was well aware of the fact that the only reason I was allowed at this school was due to my parents. By the way the headmaster avoided looking at me in general, I could tell that he didn’t like having me here just as much as I didn’t want to be here.
“We are so happy to see our daughter following in our footsteps Jin-young.” my mother says, bring the attention back to here, and away from me. I was grateful for the distraction, taking a deep breath in. To say it was intimidating being in the presence of this warlock, was an understatement.
“Well, we are the best school in regards to harnessing and using your abilities for good.” The headmaster casts me a glance at the word good. “So we are pleased to have a descendant of some of our best students here.” I rolled my eyes as Headmaster JYP continued to talk sweet at my parents. I turned back around, letting my eyes wonder, when a boy with bright red hair caught my eyes. He seemed to be talking to a few girls, and was laying on the “charm” thick.
Just as I was about to move past the scene, he turns his head and his light brown eyes lock onto mine. He tilted his head, as if trying to bait me, inquiring what about him caught my eye. I wasn’t sure what it was about this man, but he was intriguing.
Without any warning, he threw his hand in the air, sending a flame into the sky, which exploded like a firework. Immediately his eyes met mine again, and he smirked at my surprised face. I shook my head at him and rolled my eyes.
“PARK JIMIN!” I turn to see the Headmaster red in the face, staring at the red haired boy. I turn around to see that the red haired boy has an “Oh shit” look on his face and turns to run. He gets a whole two feet before two campus security guards grab him by either arm, lifting him up off the ground, and carry him over to where we are.
“JYP, what’s up man?” Jimin states, as the guards let him down in front of the headmaster. His eyes flicked over to me, standing behind the headmaster, but this time they were light blue.
“That is Headmaster to you Park.” The headmaster says, grabbing Jimin under his chin and forcing Jimin to look him in the eyes.
“Come on man, I was just having fun.” Jimin states, shrugging free of the Headmasters grasp.
“You are a menace.” The headmaster stands up straight and looks at the guards. “Take him back to where his Coven resides. I have more important matters to deal with than this miscreant.”
I watched as Jimin got dragged across campus by the guards, seemingly enjoying the ride. He gave me another smirk, and I couldn’t help but smile a bit to myself.
“Y/n.” I turn towards my parents and the headmaster, who are all looking at me.
“Yes?” I respond, confused.
“The boys in the Bangtan Coven should be avoided at all costs. They are nothing but troubled Dark Magic users.” The headmaster says, and I could see my parents eyes go wide at that.
“You mean like me?” I state blatantly. I watched as the headmaster attempted to stumble over his words, to fix his hiccup, but I didn’t care to listen any longer.
I walked over to my parents, and kissed them both on the cheek.
“I will call once I get settled, but I think it's best I head to my dorm room.” I state, before walking away towards the building that held my housing.
Maybe if the Bangtan boys are also dark magic users, they should be exactly the people I shouldn’t avoid.
