Chapter 1
This is my so-called Fairy Tail.
Izuku smiled to himself as he began closing up the bookshop, picking up books that had been misplaced. He was content with his daily life. Even if it wasn’t his dream of becoming a hero, it was still good; he owned and managed a downtown bookstore. It remained successful despite the rise of e-readers and the internet.
The shop would be closing in 20 minutes. Izuku set the books down on the counter as the doorbell jingled, signaling that someone had walked in. Izuku sighed. He had been thinking about closing a little earlier.
Bundled up against the cold in a black pea coat, a scarf wrapped around his face, and a beanie with only a strand of blonde hair poking out. It was the only thing showing.
Izuku's face grew a little dull, of course, when someone looking like a kidnapper rushed into his store just as he was about to lock up. He knew he should have done the door first, then made the display look pretty. The shop was his life; quirkless meant he would never be the hero he wanted to be. If he hadn’t registered as an omega, he might have been able to have a chance. But his father had made sure Izuku was on the list of male omegas.
So everyone would know Izuku was a useless, quirkless omega, that wasn't worth a moment of anyone's time. Alphas tend to ignore omegas who are weak or quirkless, since being an alpha wouldn't produce powerful offspring or strong bloodlines. It was the reason Izuku decided to run his bookshop: since he wasn't an alpha, no alpha would want him as their own, even if he was considered a rare being, a male omega.
“Hello! Welcome to the One for All bookshop," Izuku said with a bright smile. 'Oh great, an alpha.' Izuku thought. It was rare for an alpha to come into his bookshop, and while he was alone in the shop, it was a little nerve-racking for the green-haired omega.
"How.... How can I assist you?" Izuku stayed behind his counter, thinking of it as a safe place. The omega believes that maintaining space between him and the alpha was always a good idea. Izuku had become curious about the power that radiated from the alpha; it came in waves of heat, sweetening the air. This alpha was a Prime alpha; it made Izuku go pale as he studied the alpha that had stepped into his bookshop. Izuku had to let out a long sigh as he watched the alpha move deeper into the shop. Izuku stood tall; he wouldn't show any fear toward a prime alpha.
The alpha reached up and unraveled his scarf, so it was only loosely around his neck, not tight around his face. He was handsome and tall, almost like a model. Katsuki took in a deep sniff, unable to help it, his eyes focusing on the person behind the desk. His scent was all omega, like greenery and fresh rainfall, like spring. Admittedly, Katsuki had stepped into the store to avoid some fans who'd guessed who he was. He came in here to hide, but now that he was in here, why not look around?
"Got any good books?" He asked, eyes scanning the shelves and shelves of them. Katsuki didn't do much during his free time besides sleeping, but he occasionally read—mostly sci-fi.
Izuku's eyes locked on the alpha. Oh shit, it wasn't just any prime alpha; it was a pro hero.
Izuku blinked, finally realizing he needed to answer the pro hero. ".....Yeah, sure..... Ah," was the only thing coming out of his mouth at the moment. Well, if he didn't sound like an idiot. This was one of the top-ranked popular heroes. Izuku had seen him many times before on TV and in newspapers.
"You're... You're Dynamight!" Izuku said in a shocked, tiny, excited voice before biting his bottom lip. "Is there a type of book you like?" Izuku quickly asked as he pulled out a few books he believed would be good choices for the pro hero to read. Izuku knew a lot about many of the pro heroes, but he realized he didn't know what Dynamight's book choices were or what kind of gene he preferred.
"Yes, I am." Katsuki sighed as his shoulder slumped a bit. So much for not being recognized here, either. Katsuki glanced back outside the windows at the street he had escaped from, noticing that the group of high school girls had at least moved on.
"I like sci-fi, I guess. George Orwell," he said, relieved that the little omega didn't seem to freak out by his presence. Although he couldn't resist moving closer to the little omega, the scent emanating from him was intoxicating.
"What's your name?"
Admittedly, Katsuki was intrigued by this green-haired omega. He hadn't met a male omega before. They were rare, and for a gay alpha, well, he was interested. Katsuki hadn't even dated anyone. Yeah, he was in his mid-twenties, but who cares? He wasn't going to fool around unless he found the one for him. He didn't have time for dating anyway. So he did his best not to seem interested, but he was giving off a strong alpha 'come here' scent. As a pro hero prime alpha, he had every right to pick up this omega and claim him. He saw no marks or ring on the little omega's body, and he could pick him up and force him if he was that kind of guy. But Katsuki wasn't that kind of creep; he was a jackass, but not a creep.
Izuku seems to freeze up a bit as the scent hits his nose, a tint of red spreading over his face. "Midoriya... Izuku,"
"Ah, good choice... he has a new one that came out about two months ago," Izuku added, scrambling to find the book, which of course meant leaving the safety of his desk counter. He finally came around the desk, wishing he had a quirk that could pull books to him.
This alpha was the famous Dynamight. Izuku never thought he'd meet, let alone be overwhelmed by, the guy's scent, the scent of an alpha wanting him to be his. Izuku pointed to a row.
"It's… It's down that row," Izuku squeaked and quickly covered his mouth with his hand as he pointed down the row of books, stopping at a few with specific titles. Katsuki was still watching him, not the books Izuku was indicating to him.
Deciding to speak now, thinking his voice had come back better. "Look..... before you keep getting excited over me being a male omega, I have no quirk. I am quirkless," Izuku said as strongly as his voice could at that moment.
In a moment of not thinking, he reached out and grabbed the books that Izuku had pointed out; he didn’t even glance at them as he picked them up. Since he had read everything Orwell wrote, he knew they would be good. He looked back at Izuku, a smirk forming on his face.
Never said I was interested in you, nerd, but if I were. That kind of shit doesn't matter to me. I've got enough quirk for both of us," Katsuki said as he walked toward Izuku, or more like towered over him. For an omega, Izuku wasn't weak or small; he had some height and muscle. However, Katsuki had a significant size advantage.
"I want all of these, Deku." The rough voice of the pro hero echoed.
Izuku's face was so incredibly red that he felt like he had no blood in other parts of his body, but hearing his name being murdered like that caused him to shake his head.
“Then stop the scenting. It is all I smell, and I'm getting a little twitchy from it," Izuku quickly said, then turned to return to the safety of his desk. Trying to escape the alpha scent that Katsuki's body was filling the shop with.
Katsuki eyed the shop like he could see his scent in the air.
Izuku let out a small cough. “I’ll get these rung up for you,” Izuku said, trying ot keep the nice smile even though he may have shown more teeth than smile. The scent of mine was getting heavy.
That was odd. Most alphas looked for an omega with a quirk to strengthen their bloodlines. This is why no one came around when Izuku was younger. It helped him keep his shop and avoid being imprisoned. It hurt, but he moved on. He also lived above it. Yagi had left him many things, including money, so he could live okay with the bookstore and other things. Not that he had gone on any trips or saved up for a mate or anything.
Katsuki was still staring, though. "Your scent's on everything here. I wonder if I'll still smell you on these books when I get home," he said quietly. Red eyes watched Izuku as if he wanted to devour him. Katsuki was waiting while Izuku rang him up and handed over his card to buy the books.
Izuku did his job. "It happens when you work in one place every day and live upstairs," Izuku said with a hint of resentment.
I'm sorry, I don't have an alpha scent all over. I don't know many alphas to scent my place up," Izuku added as he put the books in a bag.
Izuku pauses mid-sentence, realizing it might have been too much information. He suppresses a sigh as he slides the book over. "Well, I hope you enjoy your books, hero Dynamight," he said.
Katsuki kept staring intensely at the omega. He had never felt these kinds of feelings for anyone before. His mind raced with thoughts of grabbing the omega's collar, pulling him close, and kissing him passionately. But instead, he blurted out, "Give me your number, Deku."
Izuku's body jerked, making him drop the extra books he was holding. "..... Ah, hmm...... Why?..... You can't even call me by my name. Dynamight. You don't need my number... I'm a quirkless bookshop owner. I don't have anything you'll like," Izuku said softly as he gathered the fallen books.
What? Deku's your name, isn't it? And you're saying that I'm not good enough for you?" he growled with a flash of anger. He moved closer and picked up some of the books Izuku had dropped.
"No, you're afraid. Listen, I ain't like most alphas. Fuck, I just...never mind. It was a stupid idea, anyway. Bye." He pushes the books into Izuku's arms and, carrying his bag of books, quickly leaves through the door before Izuku can intervene.
Izuku flopped onto the back as he took a deep breath. He wasn't scared. "..... Well, ok," Izuku said to himself before locking up his bookstore and turning off the open sign. He tidied up the bookshop before heading home, which was upstairs above the shop. Izuku opened his door and stepped inside his home, where his cat greeted him.
"Hello, Boom," he whispers. Once, Dynamight was one of his favorite heroes, though he wouldn't admit that to the guy right now.
Boom let out a loud meow. He was an orange cat, incredibly huge. Not fat. Just big. He showed up at Izuku's door one day and never left. Boom moved forward and rubbed against Izuku's legs. He sneezed when he caught a whiff of the alpha scent on him.
Izuku laughed. "Yeah, Dynamight scented the place, didn't he? Can you believe it, Boom? He wanted my number." Izuku said, kicking off his red boots. He paused to look at a photo of him and Yagi.
"No, don't worry, I know how much this place means to you," Izuku said. Izuku didn't realize that it was never the love for the bookstore itself, but for the young omega that Yagi loved. Yagi passed away before he could ever tell Izuku that he was more than a quirkless omega, that he might have inherited something else.
~~
The next day, Izuku woke up and prepared to reopen his shop. It seemed like a normal day as he got everything ready, but his stomach was tender. Noticing the date on his phone, he realized his heat wasn't due for another month or two, so he shouldn't feel this way. Izuku sighed, thinking it was probably the alpha scent trying to influence him. He hoped his heat hadn't started yet; normally, it followed his cycle. Shaking his head, he headed to the front, flipped the 'OPEN' sign, and unlocked the door. He then went to rest at his counter. The sweet caramel aroma still lingered in the air. Izuku exhaled slowly, wondering how long that alpha scent would remain.
Izuku was surprised when, exactly 15 minutes later, the alpha entered the shop. It was early in the day, and he was dressed casually in sweatpants, a sweatshirt, Nike shoes, and still wore a beanie with sunglasses. His hoodie was damp with sweat, and the caramel scent was more intense than before. He carried bags under his arms. Katsuki approached the counter directly as he put on his sunglasses.
I can't stop thinking about you, so... I hope this makes you reconsider what I said last night. Gotta go to work.
It wasn't until Katsuki left again that Izuku noticed the bags on the counter. One contained a Starbucks coffee, which Izuku guessed he preferred sweet with milk, and it was a fancy drink. There were also many fruit pastries, more than Izuku could ever eat. Inside the last backpack, Izuku found a super-soft, dark-green cashmere scarf that matched his eye color. Additionally, there was a Dynamight business card, and when he turned it over, he saw a handwritten message: "Call or text me," along with his cell phone number.
Izuku's mouth opened wider with each new item. He rubbed his eyes, trying to confirm he wasn't imagining things. If this was a joke, he was ready to punch someone. He bit his lip as his fingers traced the cashmere fabric. "Ugh," he muttered, bringing the coffee to his lips and tasting it. 'Oh, that was the good stuff.' He continued tapping his card on the counter thoughtfully. His new items were temporarily placed under the desk, but he needed to finish his coffee first.
"Why!" Izuku groaned.
"I was comfortable in my small bookshop. Usually, Alphas don't come here unless their mates invite them," he said. After what felt like hours, he reluctantly pulled out his phone and texted Katsuki.
//It's Izuku, not Deku.// and he left it at that as he tapped his desk. He had been keeping himself pretty busy since he had a new book release tomorrow, so he wasn't checking his phone too much, waiting for that text back.
Unfortunately, it took a while before Katsuki could send a reply. He must have been busy with villains, and when Katsuki finally did text back, it was funny. //Good. Wondering why your mother named you Deku. Dinner plans?//
Izuku's face lit up as he checked his phone. // Yeah, my dinner plan is to prepare for the new book release. // he texted, he wasn't going to be the omega of omg; the top prime alpha hero was asking him out.
~~
Katsuki let out a groan when he saw the message. His omega wasn't going to make things easy. He quickly replied with a text before putting his phone away. His shift had ended hours ago, but they'd called him in to help with a tough villain. Now that he'd taken the guy down and was heading to his agency to change, he sent a quick message: /See you soon./
~~
Izuku looked at the text, almost shouting for everyone to leave so he could lock up and hide. However, since there were people in the bookstore, he couldn't simply close early. 'What is with this guy?' he wondered. Didn't he just have a date with three omegas a few weeks ago? Didn't the media cover that? But the media didn't realize it was all for a sick girl's wish, so no one knew he was acting kindly at the time. Izuku sighed and began gathering the new release books. As the last customers left the store, heading for the door, he noticed it open again. Turning around, he saw the shoppers pausing in their tracks to stare at Grounds Zero.
Usually, Katsuki was kind to his fans, but tonight he was feeling a little annoyed. Izuku even saw him bare his fangs slightly, but he managed to get them to leave.
"Thought they'd never leave," Katsuki groaned before walking straight over to Izuku. He grinned when he saw that Izuku was wearing the scarf.
"Let me help," he said as he picked up the boxes. "Just tell me where."
Izuku blinked. "The front left side window I… I need about 10 of the books in the front window and the rest in the empty shelves," Izuku said. Well, he wasn't getting Katsuki out himself. His stomach shifted again. What the hell.
"Thank you for your gifts," Izuku whispers with a blush. "You don't need to help," he added, but watched as Katsuki shut off his open sign and locked the door. Izuku raised an eyebrow at Katsuki's actions.
"Yes, I do. You're about to go into heat. And before you freak out on me, need I remind you that I'm a hero? I ain't gonna pull anything. Let's finish up here, and then I'll go out, and I'm going to make you a good filling meal," Katsuki said. There was no expectation of being asked to stay. He didn't think Izuku would ask. They'd only known each other for two days, barely.
"Anyway..." he looked away. "You shouldn't be working so close to your heat. What if the wrong kind of alpha walked in your door?"
Izuku looked at Katsuki, raising an eyebrow high on his face. ".... It wasn't supposed to come right now..... And it didn't stop you from walking in here," Izuku mumbled. "I have two months....." Izuku sighed. He showed Bakugou how they needed to dress fancy. "I am not going into heat. I have the new release tomorrow. There's going to be a lot of people here. I can't put it off," Izuku said.
"Don't you have any employees?" Katsuki asked. He was a quick learner and was now following Izuku's instructions, making sure the display was perfect.
Izuku looked over. "After Toshinori passed away, they didn't want to work here anymore. He left everything to me. So they got jelly, and all quit," Izuku said with a huff of air. "My heat won't fully start yet... wait, how did you know that it was coming?" Izuku asked. He hadn't been around any alpha this close to his heat, so he didn't know what was giving it off.
"You should hire new ones...college kids or something," Katsuki said. "Wait, you don't know? I can smell it." He pointed to his nose. "Your scent is different. Haven't there ever been any alphas that go crazy around your heat? I mean, I'm fucking glad there haven't...tired of shitty douchebag alphas."
No, I haven't been around any other alpha at that time... I self-medicated and tried to sleep through it. My father was a prime alpha, and he wasn't around then and still isn't. My mother hasn't been very well in terms of her mental health," Izuku mumbled. "And omega," Izuku added as he flinched again. "It'll be fine tomorrow. I’ll be at my counter most of the day and have scent blockers on," he said as he started turning off the lights in the shop and heading toward the back door to go home. He kind of paused, blinking a few times, as Katsuki followed. He shot a what-the-hell look at Katsuki, but the alpha gave off an 'obey me and let me in the house' scent, which made Izuku start up the stairs toward his home, unlock the door, and let both of them inside. Then he shot a slight glare at the alpha. When they both entered the house, Boom came up with a greeting meow for the two.
"I suppose I can let you in," Izuku said through clenched teeth; he was starting to get a headache and was too annoyed to care why. Amid his irritation, the alpha was beginning to smell unexpectedly appealing to him.
Katsuki noticed the cat, Boom, was glaring at him. Boom sneezed and shook his head before meowing loudly again. He then went to Izuku, making his dislike clear.
"Your cat is fucking huge," Katsuki said, staring after it. He set down his coat and things on one of the small kitchen chairs.
He thought Izuku's apartment was cozy. It wasn't anything like his own; it felt warm and smelled like Izuku. "Let me cook you dinner," he said and started looking through Izuku's fridge for ingredients. Izuku stood there with a what-the-hell look again.
"Boom,... ah, works out," Izuku said, joking for a moment.
"Look, umm... I don't think you're going to find much. I'm kind of a terrible cook," Izuku added. "There isn't much in there. We're better off ordering out," he said. Izuku was scooping up Boom into his arms and crossing the floor.
"So, being an awful cook, I don't buy a lot of ingredients…. Thank you for the help," he said.
"Like hell. You're about to go into heat, and you have no food to eat," Katsuki said, his eyes glaring at Izuku. Boom jumped out of his arms with a grunt and kept staring at Katsuki. Katsuki moved to Izuku, picked him up, and carried him off. Izuku's eyes widened, and a gasp escaped his lips. It took Katsuki a moment, but he found Izuku's bedroom and laid Izuku on the bed.
"Try to sleep. Don't move from this bed. I'm going shopping for food. I'll be taking this and locking the door behind me," Katsuki said, grabbing the house keys. It was the first time they'd touched, and it left them both electrified. Katsuki wanted to stay, but he needed to do this.
Izuku flopped back onto the bed after Katsuki left. "He took my keys. He can get in; I can't even lock him out." Izuku groaned as he stared up at his ceiling. As much as he wanted to scream that Katsuki was the reason his body was acting up earlier.
He didn't want the alpha to get a big head from thinking, 'Yeah, I just make omega drop into heat around me.' Izuku slowly got up and out of bed, even though he was told to stay in it. He had things to do. For one, there wasn't anywhere for Katsuki to cook when he returned. He slipped on gym shorts and then his regular clothes to help his body, which was starting to hurt.
Katsuki returned about 30 minutes later (he shops quickly) with arms full of grocery bags. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw Izuku vacuuming. He growled and turned off the vacuum. "Don't omegas need to rest and shit? I don't know. But you don't need to worry about cleaning for me." he said, pushing Izuku back toward the bedroom with his vacuum still in the omega's hands.
Izuku's eyes drifted to Katsuki as if he'd forgotten he'd be back. "Had nowhere to make any food or sit, and it kept my mind off it," Izuku answers.
Kacchan, you don't need to be doing this," he said hoarsely. This heat is coming on faster than usual.
God, he was hot, and that wasn't in a sexy way. He had opened his windows. Katsuki could kind of smell Izuku's scent from the street through the open windows. So Katsuki was moving around, shutting the open windows and locking them.
"Hey, I'm hot! I need them open!" Izuku groaned as he leaned on his vacuum, not moving toward his bed yet.
Katsuki shifted and turned on the AC when he found the control panel. Izuku sighed as he stared at Katsuki. Oh, that scent. "I can't lie down; it feels like it's going to come faster... and being awake means I feel it all. Out on meds... Alone with you. I'm going to miss my opening tomorrow," Izuku whispered. Not that being awake would help anything. He would be whimpering in need and pain for a few days.
Katsuki grunted somewhat in answer. "I got someone to come help with the new release and run the shop." He said. Kirishima owed him a favor for what he did for Kirishima and Mina one year ago. Kirishima said he'd bring in Iida. They would handle the bookstore. Katsuki just has to get notes from Izuku before he can't answer.
Izuku stared at Katsuki. "Why... Why are you doing this?" he asked as he backed into his bedroom and sat down on his bed.
Katsuki had such a massive hard-on that he wished he wore baggy pants instead of regular ones. Seeing what Izuku was dressed in, the scent of Izuku's second gender filled the air, causing Katsuki's alpha mind to groan and growl for freedom. His alpha instincts wanted to claim Izuku as his own and to pleasure or help the omega in need of relief from his heat.
Izuku had to crawl under the covers when Katsuki brought him food. This nearly causes Katsuki to drop the tray as Izuku groans. Izuku flushes red. "…."
Katsuki was shaking so badly that the dishes on the tray started rattling as he set it down on the bed next to Izuku.
"This is right here… God damn you…. You are proof that I'm gay," he blurted out, face red. Katsuki had been around a few omegas before, and they had gone into heat. A few times, he had to help females who had miscalculated their heats and needed help getting to a safe place. He never reacted like this, though. He was able to be himself and get the female omega safely to where they needed to be. He had never had this kind of reaction to an omega in heat. The alpha in him wanted to get in that bed with Izuku and never leave.
"You should tell me to go. I don't want to, but you should tell me to leave if you don't want me," he said.
".....I don't know you..... But I don't want you to leave. .... I'm not thinking clearly," Izuku whispers as he sits up. He had lost his shorts and was just in a t-shirt. The fabric had been damaged by rubbing against things.
Keeping his covers up to hide his body as he sat up, but boy, the moment he sat up, the new scent of wetness and need filled the air. Izuku whimpers at Katsuki's look. "I've never been with any alpha. I'm sorry," he said quickly. His second gender just hurt now as the heat intensified.
Katsuki was bright red. "Don't be sorry... Please eat?" he said as he pointed at the food that he had sat on the edge of the bed, his face flushed, and his dick was seriously hurting.
"I've never been with anyone either," he confessed.
"I don't know what I'm doing, but if I stay, I want to. I want you so badly." He had to look away as he tried to breathe. It was so hard for him, but he wanted Izuku to eat. "I'll be back."
He had to push himself to distance from Izuku, so he occupied himself by checking the door was locked and the cat's food and water.
"What the hell are you doing, Katsuki?" he mumbled to himself as he shakily sent an email on his phone saying he would be out for the next couple of days.
Boom looked up at Katsuki as if to say, 'If you do something wrong, human, I will cut you.' Katsuki was also taking in more of the apartment Izuku lived in. What made Katsuki stop was a wall filled with hero items, like anything All Might and more. What made Katsuki blink was all the Dynamight stuff on the wall and the table as he looked through the hero merchandise. He found a picture of All Might in his smaller form next to Izuku. Katsuki forgot about his hard-on for a moment as he studied the photo. How did Izuku know All Might? When a groan sounded from the other room, Katsuki jerked up and looked back. His dick was hard, reminding Katsuki of what was happening in the other room.
Izuku had eaten some of the food when Katsuki walked into the room. He looked around, noticing Izuku was not on the bed. Katsuki turned toward the bathroom when he heard the toilet flush and the door reopen, revealing Izuku, who turned bright red in the face. Izuku looked up, seeing Katsuki standing there. Katsuki's eyes were on Izuku's legs. The hard-on he felt grew as he heard the squeak from Izuku, the omega, as he cupped himself, trying to hide his parts from prying eyes. He had stripped completely. Izuku was fully naked when he came out of the bathroom.
"You're muscular for an omega," Katsuki said, his voice dropping low, almost a growl. Izuku was incredibly sexy, as if he was begging to be taken like that.
"Would it make you feel better if I show you mine first?" Katsuki asked. In one quick motion, he pulled his shirt over his head and then unzipped his pants, removing them along with his thin black boxers all at once. "Come here, Izuku." He purred, his dick standing straight up and twitching, which was very noticeable.
Izuku gasped, staring at the other male in all his glory. There was never any question about Katsuki being the alpha male. Izuku's eyes went up to Katsuki's, wide with surprise. A small smile crept onto his face, softening his blush. "You said it right this time," he laughed.
Izuku didn't move at first, then his body started to feel the pull of the alpha. In small steps, Izuku moved forward, still cupping himself to hide his parts. "It won't stop gushing now," he whispers, meaning his slick was coming now. Learning that caused Katsuki's body to shiver. Katsuki felt himself start to drool. "And I'm so hot," he added. "I normally zonk myself out before this," he said as he tried not to look up at the alpha that stood before him.
Katsuki was sweating too, and he dimly realized that he was falling into a rut, driven by Izuku's heat. "Well, let me… I want to take care of you." He whispered before bending down to take Izuku's face in his hands and kissing him. It was a little awkward at first but quickly grew heated, with both of them tumbling back onto the bed in a tangle of limbs. Katsuki's hand slipped down to feel Izuku and he growled when he sensed how slick he was.
"Wanna be inside you," passed Katsuki's lips, sounding very much like a heated purr.
