Donnie had never before cared for this tradition. Always telling Leo that wishes never came true, no matter how hard he wanted them to. But that hadn’t stopped them from joining each other in their rooms the night before their birthday every year to watch as their birthday had ticked closer and closer so they could watch it come in together. And every year, despite Donnie’s initial protests, they lit a blue and purple candle so they could make a wish together. Well, at least Leo could, Donnie always blew his candle out without making one. Not a real one anyway.

Summary
Donnie blinked at Leo, trying to tighten his loose grip on Leo’s wrist. He had never seen Leo so sad, the pained grimace on his face made Donnie think that his very soul was being ripped in half.
But then again, maybe it was. Because Donnie was leaving him. In the most horrible and final way that he could be leaving him. This was something Donnie could not come back from, nor stop, and it was destroying a huge part of Leo in the process.
Donnie regretted that. He’d never wanted to hurt Leo. His brother. His best friend. His better half. Because Leo had always been that. Leo might not think so, but he’d always been the better of them. Donnie had to let him know that.
He tried to open his mouth. To speak. But his body was refusing to obey him. It was strangely terrifying, yet freeing at the same time. He was feeling less and less connected to his body.
But he couldn’t go yet. Not yet. There was something he had to tell Leo first. Something he had to do.
For as long as Donnie can recall Leo has insisted they are twins, but there is no scientific data supporting Leo's claim. It just isn't possible. Is it?
