  What is trauma exchange?

   

  Trauma Exchange is a fanfiction and fanart freeform exchange where participants will complete a 1000 word story or a piece of art centering characters reacting to a traumatic event, based on their recipient's request.

  Trauma is a pretty nebulous subject matter, so in terms of defining trauma, we are going to keep it pretty broad. The main criteria is characters reacting to any traumatic event, which can include:

  → Recovery fics
  → Rape/Revenge
  → Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  → Grief/Mourning
  → Unhealthy coping mechanisms
  → Hurt/Comfort
  → Hurt/No comfort
  → Cycles of Abuse/Violence
  → Characters reacting to ongoing traumatic events

  Examples of freeform requests could be:
  → Aftermath - Character A is raped; character A copes badly
  → Chronic Illness - Character A is dying of cancer: character B & C comfort each other
  → Abuse - Character A lives with abusive caregiver B; Character A tries to survive the experience
