To the Jedi, using the Force is like stepping into a river. Walk in the shallows, and you can keep your balance, even though the water you drink from the bank is sandy and any currents you divert are hardly more than a trickle. Wade further in, and the water is cleaner. At waist height, it is a struggle to keep your footing, but the sprays off your hands are higher than your head. At shoulder height, though you can change the path of the stream, it’s going to be more effort just to stay standing. To let your feet lift from the riverbed is a dangerous task -- even if you can stay above water, you will be washed downstream before you can make the bank.
